Abstract

The problem of this study was “Was it effective to use Six Thinking Hats Strategy in teaching reading narrative text to the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang?” The aim of this study was to find out whether or not it was effective to use Six Thinking Hats strategy in teaching reading narrative text to the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang.The population was the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang in academic year of 2018/2019. The sample was 36 students who were chosen by cluster random sampling. This study employed Pre- experimental design with the one-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected through written test in form of Multiple choice which implemented in pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using matched t-test formula.The result of the study is found that the students’ average score in the         pre-test was 47,57 and the students’ average score in the post-test was 73,68. Based on the matched t-test calculation, it was found that the t-obtained was 4,854. The critical value of 5% significance level was 1.690. It showed that the      t-obtained was higher than the t-table. From this study it was found that teaching reading narrative text by using Six Thinking Hats strategy to the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang was effective.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the moral values in the album thank you Allah by Maher Zein and the theoretical implication for teaching songs and ELT. The research method used in this study was descriptive qualitative method. The sources of data were ten song lyrics from Maher Zein album. Method of collecting the data was triangulation: lyrics, interview, and book review. The data of this study were analyzed through: listening the songs, reading ten lyrics from the album, and analyzing the moral values by underlining, defining, classifying, reanalysing, and coding. The research found ten moral values in the album were: love and affection, believe, thankfully, forgiveness, loyalty, togetherness, honesty, bravery, courage and struggle. By analyzing the moral values, hopefully it could build the good character for us and finally we could give an inspiration to others. For the theoretical implication, it could be concluded that moral values could be taught through songs

Abstract

Abstrak Isu utama pembelajaran pada masa pandemi covid-19 di Universitas PGRI Palembang adalah bagaimana merancang pembelajaran untuk diimplementasikan melalui Learning Management System (LMS) yang disediakan, yaitu Sisfo untuk menjamin kualitas pembelajaran kelas maya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah model pembelajaran berbasis konstruktivisme untuk diimplementasikan pada kelas maya melalui LMS tersebut. Prosedur R & D digunakan dalam penelitian yang diawali dari analisis kebutuhan mahasiswa dan diakhiri dengan produk akhir model. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kelas maya harus dilakukan secara fleksibel, interaktif, komunikatif, menyenangkan dan terkendali. Peran pendidik sebagai fasilitator dan pengendali sedangkan peran peserta didik sebagai negosiator ide. Pembelajaran setiap matakuliah dibagi menjadi  beberapa Kegiatan Belajar (KB). Setiap KB mencakup kegiatan pendahuluan, inti, dan penutup. Kegiatan inti dirancang untuk memberikan pengalaman belajar dalam mengkonstruksi pengetahuan oleh peserta didik melalui membaca, mengamati dan memahami bahan ajar; mengkonumikasikan hasil pemahaman melalui diskusi; dan melakukan kegiatan refleksi. Dosen disarankan untuk menggunakan model tersebut dalam merancang pembelajaran kelas maya. Kata Kunci: model pembelajaran, konstruktivisme, kelas maya, dan learning management system AbstractThe main issue of instruction in the pandemic era of covid-19 at Universitas PGRI Palembang was  how to design an instruction through  LMS (Learning Management System) called Sisfo in order to guarantee the quality of virtual class. The purpose of this research was to produce a constructivism based-learning model for virtual class throuh this LMS. The procedure of R & D was implemented. The research result showed that a virtual class instruction should be conducted in flexible, interactive, communicative, pleased, and controlled manner. The lecturers shoul play their role as facilitators and controllers, while the students are as negotiators of ideas. The subject instruction should be divided into several learning activities covering the stages of pre, whilst  and post activities of each. Whilst-learning activities are designed to give students learning experiences in constructing knowledge through reading, observing and comprehending learning material; communicating ideas through discussion; and doing reflection. The lecturers are suggested to implement this developed model in designing their virtual class instruction. Keywords: learning model, constructivism, virtual class, and learning management system

Abstract

This research was conducted by the researcher as an English teacher at Taman Siswa Vocational School of Palembang for the tenth-grade students in the academic year of 2019/2020. Since only a few students could participate in the research, this study aimed to find out how the Small Group Discussion Strategy (SGDS) improved students' speaking skills. The subject of this study was 22 students from the tenth grade of Taman Siswa Vocational School of Palembang. The material used was advertisement materials. The materials contain selected advertisement texts to be discussed by students during the study. The method of this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study was conducted in three cycles with several procedures, there were planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Each cycle has two meetings and one test. Data from this study were obtained by using oral tests and questionnaires. The findings from this study indicated that using the Small Group Discussion Strategy (SGDS) can improve the students' speaking achievement. The improvement by improvement was seen starting from cycle II and cycle III. In Cycle II it appeared that the percentage of students who got the criteria of a minimum standard score was 68.20% and students who did not get the criteria of a minimum standard score were 31.80%. In the last cycle III. twenty students who got the criteria of a minimum standard score with a percentage of 86.40% and two students who did not get the criteria of a minimum standard score were 13.60%. This means the improvements of the tenth-grade students’ speaking skills were successful.

Abstract

Strategi Belajar Bahasa Inggris Mahasiswa Pada Masa Pandemi Covid 19 Tahrun Universitas PGRI Palembang e-mail: runtah98@yahoo.com Abstrak Salah satu dampak pandemi covid-19 dalam dunia pendidikan adalah diterapkannya pendidikan jarak jauh melalui Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) berbasis internet. Dalam mengimplementasikan kebijakan ini, mahasiswa perlu melakukan strategi-strategi belajar tertentu secara nyata dalam belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan strategi belajar bahasa Inggris oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian dilakukan di PPs Universitas PGRI Palembang dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 25 orang yang diambil berdasarkan teknik convinience sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket SILL (Strategy Inventory for Language Learning) dan dianalisis berdasarkan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum mahasiswa menggunakan semua jenis strategi belajar dengan intensitas yang berbeda, yaitu intensitas sedang mencapai 96% dan intensitas tinggi sebanyak 4%. Penggunaan strategi sosial mencapai rata-rata skor tertinggi, yaitu 81, 78 sebaliknya strategi mengingat memperoleh skor terendah, yaitu 68, 18. Selain itu, strategi sosial juga menunjukkan strategi belajar yang paling dominan diguanakan mahasiswa yaitu 40%, sedangkan strategi mengingat dan kognitif menunjukkan strategi belajar yang tidak memiliki dominasi penggunaan (0%). Temuan Ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa cenderung melibatkan orang lain dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Oleh karena itu, pembelajaran yang dapat mendorong terjadinya interaksi antar peserta didik perlu dikembangkan. Kata Kunci: strategi belajar, jenis-jenis strategi belajar, dominasi dan intensitas

Abstract

This research aims to find out moral values in the Movie entitled Chronicles of Narnia: The Prince of Caspian  Adapted from Clive Staples Lewis's Novel”. The Data of this research were obtained from words, phrase, sentences and utterance in the movie. To reveal the social-cultural background used in the movie the writer used documentation, interview, and movie review from another viewer. The moral values of the film are responsibility, honesty, love, and affection, strong belief, enthusiasm, Bravery, Goodhearted, loyalty, peace-loving, perseverance, sacrificing for others, sincerity and self-confidence. Byanalyzing moral values hopefully, it can build a good character for us as future teachers, and finally, we can give inspiration to the students. Learning English by watching movies is more enjoyable than learning through books.

Abstract

Regarding the implementation of school-based management, one of which is infrastructure management. This researcher took the title, namely, Management of Facilities and Infrastructure at SMP Muhammadiyah Jirak with the sub-focus is planning, procurement, utilization, maintenance, person in charge and elimination. In this study, researchers used a qualitative method with a qualitative naturalistic approach. The naturalistic approach shows that the implementation of this research is indeed natural, as it is and is not manipulated by circumstances and conditions. In the data collection method, the writer uses techniques such as observation, interview and documentation i. The results showed that the planning of infrastructure in SMP Muhammadi yah Jirak runs withgood. In addition, the planning stage is also carried out from submitting needs, then analyzing. Procurement of infrastructure at SMP Muhammadiyah Jirak always tries to do with the planning that has been made. In terms of the provision of infrastructure, it has also been carried out in accordance with the plans that have been made. In terms of the provision of infrastructure, it is not carried out by one or two parties, but involves various elements to avoid misuse in the provision of educational facilities. Utilization of facilities and infrastructure at SMP Muhammadiyah Jirak is by having rules and schedules for the use of facilities and infrastructure. Maintenance and accountability for facilities and infrastructure at SMP Muhammadiyah Jirak are carried out by all residents, including officers, school principals, teachers, administrative staff and other students. The elimination of facilities and infrastructure at SMP Muhammadiyah Jirak is carried out by the school by selecting goods and after that it will be reported to the KPKNL and will be carried out a sale or auction.

Abstract

Great value and culture of Indonesian people that very popular around the world. The highly complex conflict in Indonesia is generally extremely concerning, particularly the normative downturn. This same real dilemma is also taking place in the world of schooling. So this study aimed to reveal the moral value and instrinsic elements form the novel Black Notice by Patricia Cornwell relate to people from different environment by interview. The data of the research were gained through triangulation technique taken from novel, book review and interview which are analysed with desrcriptive qualitatively afterwards,and describe the condition and relation which are held and process still going. The results of the study found that certain moral values and intrinsic features include the novel Black Notice by Patricia Cornwell using the Social And cultural Historical Technique and the Biographical Framework.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji  1) Ada atau tidak pengaruh tunjangan sertifikasi terhadap prestasi kerja guru di SMA Negeri Tanjung Raja, 2) Ada atau tidak pengaruh komitmen pada tugas terhadap prestasi kerja guru Di SMA Negeri Tanjung Raja, 3) Ada atau tidak pengaruh tunjangan sertifikasi dan komitmen pada tugas terhadap Prestasi Kerja Di SMA Negeri Tanjung Raja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan angket, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan program SPSS versi 16 for windows. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa 1) Terdapat pengaruh tunjangan sertifikasi (X1) terhadap prestasi kerja (Y),  2) Terdapat pengaruh komitmen pada tugas (X2) terhadap prestasi kerja guru (Y),  dan 3) Ada pengaruh sertifikasi (X1), dan komitmen pada tugas (X2) terhadap prestasi kerja guru (Y) di SMA Negeri Tanjung Raja. Implikasi dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) Sertifikasi guru merupakan sebuah program di mana guru akan dimonitoring dan diuji secara berkala dengan menggunakan alat uji yang telah ditetapkan pemerintah. Sertifikasi guru akan menciptakan mampu sumber daya pengajar yang semakin baik. 2) Komitmen pada tugas yang dimiliki oleh setiap guru sangat penting karena dengan suatu komitmen seorang guru dapat menjadi lebih bertanggung jawab terhadap pekerjaannya. Guru yang memiliki suatu komitmen, akan bekerja secara optimal sehingga dapat mencurahkan perhatian, pikiran, tenaga dan waktunya untuk pekerjaannya, sehingga apa yang sudah dikerjakannya sesuai dengan yang diharapkan oleh sekolah. 3) Prestasi kerja guru merupakan kontribusi yang diberikan oleh seorang guru terhadap tugas dan fungsinya di melalui totalitas kemampuan yang dimilikinya untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan nasional.

Abstract

Pada saat ini, salah satu faktor yang menentukan mutu pendidikan di Indonesia adalah sarana dan prasarana. Sarana dan prasarana pendidikan dapat membantu siswa belajar dengan nyaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan manajemen sarana dan prasarana di Sekolah Dasar (SD) Negeri 1 Prabumulih, kendala yang dihadapi, dan solusi untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan  wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Responden penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru, dan staf tata usaha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengadaan sarana dan prasarana memprioritaskan pembangunan sanitasi. Manajemen sarana prasarana yang meliputi perencanaan, pengadaan, penggunaan, pemeliharaan, dan penghapusan sarana prasarana telah berjalan dengan baik. Kendala yang dihadapi yaitu kurangnya dana yang diperlukan untuk proses pengadaan dan kurangnya tenaga tata usaha dalam proses pengelolaan manajemen sarana dan prasarana.
