Abstract

Character Education Values in Novel Month After the American Sky. Talking about novel issues and character values that a good novel is a novel that has many benefits or has many good values. Therefore, researchers chose the novel as a study material. Novels taken as study material are novels written by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra with the title "Split Moon in the Sky of America". From the analysis there are 19 character values contained in the novel, namely (a) religious, (b) honest, (c) responsible, (d) healthy lifestyle, (e) discipline, (f) hard work, (g) self-confidence, (h) logical thinking (critical, creative, and innovative), (i) independent, (j) curiosity, (k) self-conscious, (l) polite, (m) democratic, (n) nationalist, (o) pluralist, (p) intelligent, (q) helpful, (r) resilient, and (s) action oriented.

Abstract

A good novel is a novel that has much benefits and good values. A novel written by Hanum Salsabiela Rais, Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika, is one of several good novels. Therefore, researchers chose the novel as a source. This is a qualitative and descriptive paper. Abstract

Keterampilan menulis merupakan salah satu dari empat keterampilan berbahasa lainnya. Dalam keterampilan menulis tentunya bersifat produktif. Keterampilan ini dipandang menduduki hierarki yang paling rumit dan kompleks di antara jenis-jenis keterampilan berbahasa lainnya, mengingat aktivitas menulis bukanlah sekadar hanya menyalin kata-kata dan kalimat-kalimat; melainkan menuangkan dan mengembangkan pikiran-pikiran, ide, dalam suatu struktur tulisan yang teratur, logis, sistematis, sehingga mudah ditangkap oleh pembacanya. Oleh karena itu, dalam keterampilan menulis cerita rakyat ini perlu adanya bimbingan khusus. Dalam kegaitan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini tim berusaha memberikan pelatihan dan bimbingan keterampilan menulis kepada guru-guru Kalimantan Tengah mengingat minimnya bahan bacaan khususnya yang berkaitan dengan budaya lokal. Selain itu, minimnya karya tulis hasil guru-guru bahasa dan guru muatan lokal sehingga melahirkan kepedulian bagi tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk membentuk komunitas penulis lokal khususnya penulis Cerita Rakyat Kalimantan Tengah. Metode yang digunakan ialah pelatihan terbimbimbing kepada guru-guru bahasa yang ada di kota Palangka Raya, baik guru SMA/MA/SMK. Pelatihan ini dikemas dalam bentuk workshop dan pendampingan. Adapun hasil dari kegiatan memperoleh 13 cerita rakyat yang ada di Kalimantan Tengah yang ditulis oleh penulis lokal, yaitu guru-guru Bahasa Indonesia yang ada ada di Kalimantan Tengah.

Abstract

Lemahnya sikap menghargai orang tua merupakan bagian yang sangat penting yang harus diketahui oleh anak-anak remaja saat ini. Hal ini juga menjadi cerminan bahwa sikap menghargai orang yang lebih tua itu masih rendah. Salah satu penyebab masalah ini dikarenakan, kurangnya penanaman nilai moral dan budi pekerti yang tidak ditanamkan secara langsung kepada diri seseorang. Oleh karena itu, arahan-arahan tentang nilai moral dan budi pekerti perlu kiranya disosialisasikan agar kedepannya anak-anak remaja tersebut tidak hanya meraba-raba untuk melakukan sebuah tindakkan. Yang mana sebuah tindakan itu mungkin menurut anggapannya sudah benar namun salah di mata orang lain. Selain itu, dari hasil sosialisasi ini diharapkan siswa-siswi tersebut memperoleh pengetahuan yang sebenarnya tentang nilai moral dan budi pekerti yang baik terhadap sesama, teman sebaya maupun terhadap orang yang lebih tua karena dengan siraman rohani mampu merubah pribadi seseorang menjadi lebih baik. Hal ini tampak tidak ada satu pun siswa-siswi yang menjadi masyarakat sasaran yang tidak merasa tersentuh pada saat dilakukan siraman rohani dan juga diperkuat dari hasil pengakuan orang tuanya.

Abstract

Indonesian speaking skills is essential for foreign students from Thailand who was educated in Indonesia, especially at Muhammadiyah University of Palangkaraya. Through skills for speaking Indonesian properly, Thai students were able to communicate with people residing in the vicinity. Particularly, in understanding the course material and expression. Indonesian language course for speaking skill for Thai students in Muhammadiyah University of Palangkaraya aims to make the students able to recognize and understand the diversity of Indonesian and serves as a science to improve impaired speech in the Indonesian language, which will also affect the ability to write Indonesian. Through course, Muhammadiyah University of Palangkaraya students’ who came from Thailand has been quite able to recite the alphabet and make a simple sentence that can be used in communications. However, this ability stills needs to be aharpened in order to become proficient communicate using Indonesian.

Abstract

Language politeness is a way of not giving a bad impression to the speaker or etiquette/ethics language. The formulation of the problem in this research are: (1) How is the function of linguistic politeness in teacher and student interaction in MIS Al Jihad Palangka Raya? This study aims to describe the function of language courtesy in the interaction of teachers and students in the environment of MIS Al Jihad Palangka Raya. The approach used in research is a pragmatic approach in which this approach is suitable for understanding language usage. The type of research used is qualitative. Meanwhile, the research method is descriptive aims to obtain information about the situation and see the relation between the variables that have been determined. Based on the results there are several functions of language politeness are: (1) Declarative function, there are explanatory sentences, declaring information, expressing congratulations, declaring a covenant, and declaring a warning; (2) Interrogative function, requesting an answer, asking for sincerity, asking permission, asking for reasons, asking for information, asking for opinions, and asking for sincerity; (3) imperative function, there enjoin, prohibit, ask for help, suggest, advocate, and express regret; (4) The apology function can be seen from the use of the word sorry and the form of interjection (speaker expression); and (5) Criticism, there is rejecting the answer, mentioning deficiencies, and calling error.

Abstract

Symbols are part of a complex means of communication that has various meanings. Symbols are not only in the form of verbs but symbols are also nonverbal as those found in customary practices are realized in the form of equipment/ objects/goods. This study aims to describe the meaning and function of the symbol of the cultural biology of the Ngaju Dayak community in the Balanga Museum Palangka Raya. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The techniques used are recording, interviews, observation, and documentation. Based on the results of the study there are eight biological objects that contain cultural symbols for the Dayak Ngaju community, namely: dawen sawang (sawang leaves, uwei (rattan), humbang (bamboo), tampung papas (sacred leaves/purification), suli (galangal stems), creepers (clothes baskets), hadangan (buffalo), and maharanda.

Abstract

This process begins with preliminary activities that provide stimulus in advance for students to be proactive in learning that will be implemented and present some problems in life-related to learning material. Then proceed with the core activities beginning with observing such as asking students to read a reference book about mudaraba and also given the opportunity to observe some questions about what happened related to the material discussed and observe the slides that are displayed. Then the questioning process is carried out with the process of students to answer the pre-test given in the form of questions, then provide the opportunity for students to ask questions related to observations made previously about mudaraba and accommodate questions from them and give opportunity to each student or point randomly to answer a question from his friend. After observing and asking questions, it is continued by exploring some of the results carried out previously such as searching for answers to pre-test questions by reading some of the references contained in the teaching book or other book references, then in this activity collecting information from questions and answers conducted and completing it by reading the textbooks and other reference books related to syirkah material and a discussion on the problems obtained. At the core, activity ended with communicating inviting students to make a report on the results of discussions that have been done by presenting in front of the class and given a response from other groups and ending affirmation of the learning outcomes.

Abstract

Bahasa Dayak Ngaju pada umumnya memiliki ciri khas tersendiri yang mana dalam pelafalan vokal dan konsonan juga terdapat perbedaan khusunya pada vokal (e dan o). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Adapun yang menjadi objek penelitian ialah anak berusia 3 tahun yang kesehariannya menggunakan bahasa Dayak Ngaju. Pada tataran vokal dalam bahasa Dayak Ngaju dapat dillafalkan anak dengan jelas, sedangkan pada pemerolehan konsonan ada beberapa konsonan yang tidak dapat dilafalkan sesuai degan posisinya masing-masing. Hambatan pemerolehan konsonan pada anak usia 3 tahun terdapat pada konsonan yang terletak pada: konsonan pada posisi awal [d, g, j, l, n, r, dan s], posisi tengah [j, l, r, s], dan hambatan konsonan pada posisi akhir, hanya ada huruf [r]. Dalam hal ini tampak bahwa bentuk vokal dan konsonan dalam bahasa Dayak Ngaju cenderung lebih mudah untuk dikuasai anak usia 3 tahun dibandingkan penggunaan vokal dan konsonan dalam bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

AbstractHomonymy and Ambiguity Phonetic in Mahalabiu. Homonymy is a form of wordsthat have different meanings but the pronunciation or spelling is the same andambiguity is the ability to express more than one interpretation. In this case, it isrelated to the ‘mahalabiu discourse’ which tends to have multiple meanings ineveryday language usage. The method used in this research is a descriptivequalitative method. Data collection techniques using interview techniques andrecording techniques. As for the object of research is the indigenous people of theBanjar tribe who live in the Alabio village. In ‘mahalabiu’, there are several formsof homonymy, namely: “maharakan, tarap, Langgar, Pagat, tinjak, maling, haur,dikalang, pusat, nyawa, dan kuitan”. In addition, there is also homonymy which ishomophony and homonymy which is homograph. (1) Homophony is the same soundbut different in writing and meaning, namely: “maharumi (maharu mi), kadada (kadada), dan anakutu (anakku tu)”;and (2) homography in ‘mahalabiu’ occurs as aresult of the unification of vocabulary in phonetic pronunciation, namely“bakicap”. Other than that,in ussing the word mahalabiu on average contains adouble meaning, this occurs due to the use of the word homonymy, while the contextin the conversation is not clear, resulting in inactivity.Key words: homonymy, phonetic ambiguity, mahalabiuAbstrakHomonimi dan Ambiguitas Fonetik dalam Bahasa Mahalabiu. Homonimi adalahbentuk kata yang memiliki makna yang berbeda tetapi pelafalan atau ejaannyasama dan ambiguitas adalah kemampuan mengekspresikan lebih dari satupenafsiran. Dalam hal ini berkaitan dengan mahalabiu yang cenderungmenimbulkan makna ganda dalam pemakaian bahasa sehari-hari. Metode yangdigunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif.Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara dan teknik rekaman.Adapun yang menjadi objek penelitian ialah masyarakat asli suku Banjar yangtinggal di desa Alabio. Dalam wacana mahalabiu terdapat beberapa bentukhomonimi, yaitu: “maharakan, tarap, langgar, Pagat, tinjak, maling, haur,dikalang, pusat, nyawa, dan kuitan”. Selain itu, ada pula homonimi yang bersifathomofoni dan homonimi yang bersifat homograf. (1) Homofoni merupakan bunyiyang sama tetapi berbeda tulisan dan maknanya, yaitu: “maharumi (maharu mi),kadada (ka dada), dan anakutu (anakku tu)”; dan (2) homografi dalam mahalabiuterjadi akibat dari penyatuan kosakata dalam pelafalan fonetik, yaitu “bakicap”.Selain itu, dalam pemakaian katamahalabiu rata-rata mengandung makna gandahal ini terjadi dikarenakan pemakaian kata homonimi, sedangkan konteks dalampercakapan tidak jelas sehingga muncul ketaksaan.Kata-kata kunci:homonimi, ambiguitas fonetik, mahalabiu
