Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the effect of project-based learning (PjBL), predict-observe-explain (POE), and predict-observe-explain based project (POEP) on metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes in biology learning. The research used a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The experiment was conducted from August to December 2020. The metacognitive awareness questionnaire was applied to measure students’ metacognitive awareness. Besides, an essay test was used to assess cognitive learning outcomes. Data collection in this study was carried out using Google Form, Google Classroom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp. Data analysis using statistical product and service solutions (SPSS) version 23 software. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) results analysis showed that PjBL, POE, and POEP affected students’ metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes in biology learning with a value of p<0.005. The least significant different (LSD) result was significantly different in improving students’ metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes. The POEP class gained the highest posttest score. Therefore, POEP could be applicable to improve students’ metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes in Biology learning.

Abstract

A survey and exploratory study were conducted to analyze Lake Tempe as a resource for contextual learning (CTL). The first phase of the study included exploring the lake’s potential through interviews with the people who live in the lake’s coastal region. Quadrat transects were done to identify aquatic plants around the lake. A feasibility analysis was conducted to see the lake’s potential as a learning resource. Field data were collected and compared to the environmental biology (EB) curriculum, responses, and learning outcome. The data were analyzed descriptively and tested using a paired-sample t-test. The results showed differences in the three stations’ physicochemical parameters and decreased quality of the water. It was found that anthropogenic activity had a significant contribution to the lake’s pollution. Nine species of six aquatic plant families were found in the lake. The survey revealed that the lake was feasible as a learning resource with criteria easy to access, safety, time efficiency, costs, and the material's suitability for EB courses. The t-test showed a difference in the students’ scores between before and after exploration practices. These findings suggest that Lake Tempe can serve as a resource for CTL in EB courses.

Abstract

This was quantitative correlational research, which investigated the correlation between metacognitive skills and scientific attitudes towards the retention of male and female students in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research sample was biology education students in the second semester, with 104 students consisting of 47 males and 57 females. The instruments employed in this study were those for assessing metacognitive skills, scientific attitudes, and retention. Metacognitive skills and retention were measured using essay tests, while scientific attitudes were measured using observation sheets. The results indicated that the value of the simultaneous contribution of metacognitive skills and scientific attitudes towards to the retention of female students was higher than that of male students. The effective contributions of metacognitive skills and scientific attitude towards male students' retention were 3.33% and 24.67%. Metacognitive skills and scientific attitudes both contribute 14.5% and 17.2%, respectively, to female students’ retention.

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the effect of recycle materials usage for science practicum on students' basic science process skills of the Open University, Surakarta. Recycle materials are the term used for the obtained materials and equipment from the students’ environment by taking back the garbage or secondhand objects into goods or new products which have a benefit for practicum activities. Randomized posttest only control group design was applied in this study and involving 83 students which divided into experimental class and control class. Collected data were science process skills test and questionnaire. The results of this study obtained Kruskal Wallis test result of 0.000<0.05. So, there was effect of recycle materials usage for science practicum on students’ science process skills. Students also provided positive feedback on the use of recycle materials for science lab activities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential of the process oriented guided inquiry learning (POGIL) model in empowering students' critical thinking skills in learning. This research is a library research on relevant theories and research results. The results showed that so far learning has not taught critical thinking in class. Critical thinking skills is a basic skill that can help students analyze arguments, make conclusions using reasoning, assess or evaluate, and make decisions or solve problems. Through POGIL, students actively think critically at each stage of their learning. The POGIL stages are orientation, exploration, concept formation, application, and closure.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh bauran pemasaran terhadap keputusan pembelian produk baterai otomotif pada PT. Selatan Jadi Jaya Sidoarjo. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian penjelasan (Explanatory Research)  dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini ditentukan dengan teknik  accidentil sampling  dengan jumlah sampel sebesar 140 responden. Uji instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas. Analisis data dan interpretasi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi berganda. Dari hasil hipotesis diketahui bahwa variabel produk dan saluran distribusi berpengaruh positif terhadap keputusan pembelian produk baterai otomotif pada PT. Selatan Jadi Jaya Sidoarjo, sedangkan variabel harga dan promosi tidak berpengaruh positif terhadap keputusan pembelian produk baterai otomotif pada PT. Selatan Jadi Jaya Sidoarjo.Kata kunci: Bauran Pemasaran, Keputusan pembelian.

Abstract

This  research aims to analyze the pattern of relationships by knowing the direct influence of service quality, tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy for the patient satisfaction on military hospital in the city of Malang. The research presented descriptively refer to existing theories. To determine how much influence the independent variable on the dependent variable  multiple linear regression analysis was used, to test analytical methods F and t test. This  research  used a sample of 70 patients hospitalized in the Military Hospital in Malang. While  the  sampling  methods  are  purposive sampling, judgment sampling is also called the selection of a random sample types obtained by using certain considerations, generally adapted to the purpose or research problems. The  results using multiple linear regression analysis, showed that simultaneous physical evidence variable (X1), reliability (X2), responsiveness (X3),  assurance  (X4) and empathy (X5) has a significant influence on  patient satisfaction  (Y) with a significance  of 0.000 with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.619 (61.9%). While partial, variable physical evidence, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy showed a significant effect on patient satisfaction with the significance of each variable of 0.238, 0.304, 0.050, 0.122, 0.250. Dominant variable for patient satisfaction are variable reliability (X2) with standardized beta coefficients 0.304. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Marketing Communication Mix on Customers Purchasing Decision at Ramayana Department Store Malang. The regression  analysis, F test and t test were conducted in order to acknowledge the relationships among the independent variables (Advertising, Sales Promotion, Direct Marketing, Personal Selling and Public Relation) on Customer’s Purchasing Decision This study is explanatory research, in accordance with its purpose to determine  the causal relationship among variables through hypothesis testing.  The samples in this research were the customers of Ramayana Department Store Malang. The data collection method of  this study by distributed questionnaire. The sampling technique used is Purposive sampling and the research instruments were tested using the validity test, reliability test, and classical assumption test. The hypothesis testing used the F test and t test in Multiple Regression Analysis. The multiple regression analysis showed that simultaneously, Advertising, Sales Promotion, Direct Marketing, Personal Selling, and Public Relation had significant effect on Customer’s Purchasing Decision. Meanwhile, partial test shows that the variables of Advertising, Sales promotion and Personal Selling had significant effect on Customer Purchasing Decision. However, the variables of Direct Marketing and Public Relation had no significant effect on Customer’s Purchasing Decision. The dominant test shows that Personal Selling has dominant effect on customer’s purchasing decision.Keywords:  Marketing Communication Mix,  advertising, sales promotion, direct marketing, personal selling, public relation, customer’s purchasing decision.

Abstract

Marketing mix is one of the factors that can influence consumer decisions. Studies on the hospitality marketing mix which consists of eight variables: product, partnership, people, packages, programs, location, promotion, and price to find out how big influence on consumer decisions, the study sample was 60 people. Sampling is done by using a purposive sampling method. While the method of analysis used is multiple linear regression. Regression in order to obtain good results, then prior to the regression test, first tested the validity, reliability testing and test classical assumption of normality test, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity test. Simultaneous testing to the conclusion that of the eight variables comprising the variable product (X1), cooperation (X2), people (X3), packages (X4), programs (X5), location (X6), promotion (X7), and the price (X8), significantly influence consumer decision Pelangi Hotel Malang. The analysis also showed that only partially promotional variables that have a significant influence on consumer decision Pelangi Hotel Malang. Promotion variable (X7) is the most dominant variable, where the other variables are not significant because the hotel products necessary to rejuvenation and renewal. And too much competition in the world of hospitality as well as the challenges of competition in the room price and diverse consumer desires. Keywords: Marketing Mix and Consumer Decision

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh secara simultan maupun parsial dimensi kualitas pelayanan yang terdiri dari bukti fisik, keandalan, daya tanggap, jaminan, dan empati terhadap kepuasan nasabah BCA cabang Borobudur Malang. Pada penelitian ini, yang menjadi populasi adalah nasabah PT. BCA cabang Borobudur Malang berjumlah 5.180 orang nasabah dan jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 100 responden. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah regresi berganda.Berdasarkan hasil analisis ditemukan bukti bahwa dimensi kualitas pelayanan yang terdiri dari bukti fisik, keandalan, daya tanggap, jaminan, dan empati baik secara simultan maupun parsial berpengaruh terhadap kepuasan nasabah PT. BCA cabang Borobudur Malang. Dimensi kualitas pelayanan dalam bentuk kehandalan merupakan variabel yang dominan mempengaruhi kepuasan nasabah PT. BCA cabang Borobudur Malang.
