Abstract

Hidup di lingkungan baru tidaklah mudah bagi mahasiswa internasional. Selama proses penyesuaian diri di kehidupan barunya, para mahasiswa ini menghadapi berbagai tekanan interpersonal dan menunjukkan kesulitan selama masa belajar. Dalam  upaya  memprediksikan  kesuksesan  dan  kepuasan  mahasiswa internasional, maka diperlukan usaha untuk melihat proses penyesuaian dirinya. Pengaruh dari bagaimana seseorang melihat dirinya dan juga kepercayaan diri dalam berbahasa  Inggris, diprediksi memberikan kontribusi pada penyesuaian sociocultural mahasiswa internasional ini. Dalam penelitian ini, independent self- construal dan English self-confidence dari 138 mahasiswa Indonesia yang berkuliah di Belanda diteliti sebagai faktor-faktor yang mungkin mempengaruhi penyesuaian sociocultural-nya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa Indonesia ini mengalami kesulitan sociocultural yang lebih rendah ketika mereka memiliki independent self-construal dan kepercayaan diri berbahasa Inggris yang lebih tinggi. Kepercayaan diri berbahasa Inggris ini juga bertindak sebagai mediator dalam hubungan antara independent self-construal dan kesulitan sociocultural. Terakhir, ketika semua faktor dianalisis menggunakan multiple regression analysis, ditemukan bahwa lama tinggal dan dua dimensi dari independent self-construal (autonomy dan uniqueness) memiliki pengaruh paling signifikan terhadap kesulitan sociocultural.

Abstract

This study examines to capture a description of entrepreneurial characteristics owned by students of the Faculty of Economics, University of YARSI. As a reference, this study uses seven entrepreneurial characteristics formulated by Bezzina (2010), namely: Need of Achievement, Internal Locus of Control, Ambiguity Tolerance, Self-Confidence, Creativity or Innovativeness, Risk-taking Propensity, and Self-sufficiency or Freedom. Furthermore, this research uses quantitative descriptive method to get an idea to what extent entrepreneurial characteristics mastered by students of the Faculty of Economics, University of YARSI.Questionnaires distributed to 150 respondents consist of alumni and active students who have received Entrepreneurship courses, both from Accounting and Management major. In general, the entrepreneurial characteristics in the Faculty of Economics YARSI University is classified Medium, but there are two dimensions that fall into High category, which are Need of Achievement and Self-confidence. The finding also showed that male respondents had higher entrepreneurial characteristics than female respondents. In addition, Management students also had better characteristics than Accounting’s, while the alumni’s entrepreneurial characteristics are more developed than the active students.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengembangan organisasi, rasa percaya terhadap komitmen organisasional dan  kinerja dosen. Selain itu untuk mengetahui apakah rasa percaya memediasi pengaruh pengembangan organisasi terhadap komitmen organisasional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah dosen Universitas YARSI. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode survey menggunakan  kuesioner kepada 68 dosen tetap Universitas YARSI. Analisis data dengan menggunakan path analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan organisasi dan rasa percaya berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap komitmen organisasional serta kinerja dosen. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa  rasa percaya  memediasi pengaruh pengembangan organisasi terhadap komitmen organisasional.Kata kunci : Pengembangan organisasi, Rasa percaya, Komitmen organisasional, Kinerja  DosenABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the effect of organizational development, trust in organizational commitment and lecturers’ performance. In addition to know whether trust mediates the effect of organizational development on organizational commitment. The population in this study were YARSI University lecturers. The study was conducted by survey method using questionnaires distributed to 68 YARSI University permanent lecturers. Data analysis used was path analysis. The results showed that organizational development and trust had a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment and lecturer performance. The results also showed that trust mediated the effect of organizational development on organizational commitment.Keywords: Organizational development Trust, organizational commitment, lecturers’ performance

Abstract

Drawing the theory of planned behavior, the main objective of this study was to identify the students’ entrepreneurial intentions using double linear regression test. The sample of this study consisted of total 281 undergraduate students, divided into two categories, the economics faculty and non – economics faculty. The result shows that among three variables – subjective norms, attitude towards entrepreneurship, and perceived behavioral control- subjective norms is the strongest predictor of intentions within the economics students, while among the non – economics students, attitude is the strongest. However, the research revealed that all of the variables have a positive and significance influence on entrepreneurial intentions both for the economics and non-economics students. Despite its limitation, this study wishes to make contribution and implication to the literature of entrepreneurship. This study might help students and universities to take action in improving entrepreneurial intentions
