Abstract

The purpose of this research to describe the transposition and modulation in the translation of the book “La Tachzan” into Indonesia. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. From the data examined, it is found that the shifts in the translation of the book “La Tachzan” are: (1) Transposition must be caused by a system and different language rules, (2) Transposition due to the absence of systems and rules in one language, (3) Transposition due to reasonableness, (4) Transposition of overlap. Modulation shifts are found in the translation of “La Tachzan” (1) Compulsory or linguistic modulation and (2) Non-linguistic modulation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Post Bearded Translation (PBT) karya KH. Muhammad Syadzali Pakisaji Malang dan relevansinya dengan teori terjemahan dan linguistik. Untuk memenuhi tujuan tersebut penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Data penelitian dikumpulkan di Pesantren Nur Huda Al-Barokah Pakisaji Malang yang diasuh oleh KH. Muhammad Syadzali. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) Post bearded translation merupakan penerjemahan teks bahasa Al-Qur’an  ke dalam bahasa Indonesia dengan cara kata per kata atau frasa per frasa, terikat oleh struktur gramatika bahasa sumber, tanpa simbol linguistik dan bahasa sasarannya terpisah dengan bahasa sumbernya akan tetapi tetap dicantumkan dalam satu kesatuan teks, (2) mempunyai relevansi dengan teori penerjemahan berkaitan dengan prosesnya, dan (2) mempunyai relevansi dengan pandangan Chomsky dalam kaitannya dengan kreativitas berbahasa. Kata kunci: Post Bearded Translation, Nur Huda Al-Barokah, Pesantren.

Abstract

Abstrak:Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi penerjemahan yang dilakukan mahasiswa Jurusan Sastra Arab FS UM yang berkaitan dengan pemahaman teks bahasa sumber. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan grounded research. Abstract

One of the government’s efforts to improve the quality and professionalism of teachers, especially Arabic teachers, is the implementation of an in-service Teacher Professional Education Program (Pendidikan Profesi Guru – PPG). During the program, teachers also learn to develop lesson plans (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran – RPP). Errors were reported in the lesson plans prepared by teachers of Arabic Language as PPG participants during the teaching practice at schools. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to describe those errors. By using a descriptive-qualitative design, this study revealed eight types of errors in the lesson plans, namely (1) ambiguity in the basic competence formulation, (2) GPA formulation that focused more on the process and not competence, (3) invalidity of the assessment instrument, (4) unspecific, non-operational, and unmeasurable formulation of GPA, (5) GPA formulation asynchronous with teaching and learning activities, (6) unclear formulation of teaching and learning activities, (7) unclear measurement of competence, and (8) domain misconceptions in the assessment.

Abstract

The pesantren institution is unique in education practice so it’s one of distinguished subsystem in national education system. This article focused on study of jenggotan translation practiced in course of traditional pesantren in Java. Locus of the study is in Pesantren Gondanglegi, Malang practicing jenggotan practice. The approach used is qualitative research employing the grounded research model. This study concludes that practices of jenggotan translation lay on two fundamental values. The first is the kepesantrenan value and the second is intelectual-academic one.

Abstract

This paper is intended to describe the result of a research focusing on the students’  translation  problems  in  translating  Arabic  texts  into  Indonesian.  The problems result from the students’ understanding  and retelling (re-expressing)  the results  of  the  understanding  during  the  translation  process.  In  this  study,  the researcher is applying descriptive-qualitative method. The result shows that the students’ problems in translating have close relation with (1) the students’ understanding  of  linguistics  structure  and  non-linguistics  structure,  and  (2)  the students’ problems in retelling (re-expressing) the results of their reading regarding linguistics and non linguistics problem.

Abstract

This research aimed at describing the application of Lesson Study to increase lecturer’s teacing performance in teaching Nahwu. The researchers used classroom action research in two cycles. The subjects of this research were the students taking Nahwu course with low competence. The result showed that the lecturer model was successful to enhance his patience which he did not recognise before to solve his teaching performance of “difficult” course, i.e. discussing the problem with his colleagues. The observer of this Lesson Study scored 95% for the success of applying Lesson Study, and 98% for the positive change of each step done.

Abstract

THE QUALITY OF TRANSLATION RESULTS BY GOOGLE TRANSLATE AND MICROSOFT TRANSLATOR IN TRANSLATING CLASSICAL ARABIC TEXTS BASED ON THE TRANSLATION OF THE BOOK MATN AL-GHĀYAH WAT TAQRIB BY FAIZ EL MUTTAQINAbstract: This study aimed to describe the quality of translations results by Google Translate and Microsoft Translator in translating classical Arabic texts based on the translation of the book Matn Al-Ghāyah wat Taqrib by Faiz El Muttaqin by looking at three aspects in the target language; accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The data of this study were analyzed using comparative qualitative research methods. The results showed that Google Translate got a better score than Microsoft Translator. However, both of them produced inaccurate, unacceptable and illegible translations because machine translation cannot properly communicate the meaning and dynamics of the source language into the target language.Keywords: Machine translation, Translation quality, Google translate, Microsoft translatorKUALITAS HASIL TERJEMAH GOOGLE TRANSLATE DAN MICROSOFT TRANSLATOR DALAM PENERJEMAHAN TEKS KLASIK BAHASA ARAB BERDASARKAN TERJEMAHAN KITAB MATN AL-GHĀYAH WAT TAQRIB KARYA FAIZ EL MUTTAQIN Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kualitas hasil terjemahan google translate dan microsoft translator dalam penerjemahan teks klasik bahasa Arab berdasarkan terjemahan kitab Matn Al-Ghāyah wat Taqrib karya Faiz El Muttaqin, dengan melihat tiga aspek dalam bahasa sasaran yaitu keakuratan, keberterimaan, dan keterbacaan. Data penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif komparatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa google translate memperoleh skor yang lebih unggul daripada microsoft translator. Kendati demikian, keduanya sama-sama menghasilkan terjemahan yang tidak akurat, tidak berterima dan tidak terbaca karena mesin penerjemahan tidak bisa mengkomunikasikan makna dan dinamika bahasa sumber ke dalam bahasa sasaran dengan benar.Kata kunci: Mesin penerjemah, Kualitas, terjemahan, Google translate, Microsoft translator  الملخص:  تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل جودة نتائج ترجمة مترجم جوجل و مترجم مايكروسوفت في ترجمة النصوص العربية الكلاسيكية بناءً على ترجمة كتاب المتن الغاية والتقريب للفائز المتقين، من خلال النظر إلى ثلاثة جوانب في اللغة المستهدفة وهي الدقة والمقبولية وسهولة القراءة. في هذه الدراسة، تم تحليل البيانات باستخدام الطريقة النوعية المقارنة. أظهرت النتائج أن نتائج مترجم جوجل أفضل من مترجم مايكروسوفت. ومع ذلك ، فقد أنتج كلاهما ترجمة غير دقيقة و غير مقبولة و غير واضحة لأنهما لا يستطيعان توصيل معاني و ديناميات مصادر البيانات بشكل صحيحة إلى اللغة المستهدفة الكلمة المفتاح: آلة الترجمة ، جودة ، ترجمة ، مترجم جوجل ،

Abstract

Abstrack: This study aims to describe the grammatical meaning of the translation errors and the use of literal translation in the translation procedure book Durusun Iqtishadiyatun min Ramadlan. This research is qualitative, descriptive, in accordance with the data collected in the form of words, phrases and sentences. Researchers found: (1) the translation of the meanings of grammatical errors include (a) error of morphology, which is caused by three factors, among others errors recognize form words, diction selection mistakes and errors recognize variations of word meaning, and (b) the syntax error is caused by an error in the interpretation of syntax elements in a sentence. (2) The literal translation procedure usage error in the fix uses some other procedures that; (a) transposition procedures, (b) cultural equivalence procedures, (c) the procedure modulation, (d) the procedure modulation-transposition-culture equivalence.
