Abstract

Women are very important in the development potential. It is proved by the emergence of womens emancipation in all sectors, one of them is in the informal sector. The involvement of women in the informal sector has limited to resources and access. As a result, in the business options that can be entered also has range in some specific areas such as food hawkers peddling. The background of this issue is women itinerant food vendors in performing activities where she has to leave the family in a period of 9-10 hours a day. Before she goes home or goes to work, she has to do homework at the same time. The objectives of this study were 1). To describe the activity of female itinerant food vendors around Terminal Sicincin, and 2). To analyze the constraints faced by women in the work of itinerant food vendors.The theory used is the theory of Exchange (Exchange-Behavior) by George Homans. This study used qualitative methods with descriptive type. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentary studies. Decision madeby the informant porpousive sampling or based on certain criteria. Data analys is used the model data analysis Milles and Huberman.Based on the results obtained the following conclusions: first, Itinerant food vendors female activity, which can beseen from: 1). Description of the allocation of time, ie work outside the home as an itinerant food vendors conducted from 08.00 am until 17.00 pm. 2). Interaction among fellow itinerant food vendors see the cooperation, competition, and conflict. 3). Tips market mastery of the situation, which used the day off, buyers want to attend, give discounts to buyers, the established image salted egg and boiled bananas males. Second, the constraints experienced by women hawkers food vendors are obstacles in the work, the driver and passenger buses are not friendly, the absence of the pump, and the buyer on certain days.

Abstract

Nopita Sari (09070024), Childrens Achievement and Learning Strategies From Poor Families In SMAN 3 Lengayang South Coastal District. Thesis Sociology Program Educational Studies High School Teaching and Education ( STKIP ) Sumatran PGRI weight , Padang , 2013This research  examines about learning strategies achieving children from poor families in SMAN 3 Lengayang South Coastal District. In the learning process necessary facilities which sometimes costly, consequences for parents who are unable to fulfill that facilities, then the child will be late in the learning process, but not for children who excel from poor families that the author found in SMAN 3 Lengayang. It means that they can still get the achievement even though the economic conditions that limited the strategies they do. This study aims to describe the learning strategies achieving children in SMAN 3 Lengayang South Coastal District and describe the obstacles encountered achieving children from poor families in SMAN 3 Lengayang South Coastal District.The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach, which is trying to approach social reality that wish to study in depth and using qualitative data in the form of words and deeds. Informants of this study are the students who excel from poor families in SMAN 3 Lengayang South Coastal District. The selection of informants in this study using purposive sampling technique. Data used primary and secondary. Data collection techniques used were observation , interviews, documentation. The unit of analysis is the individual. Analysis of the data used includes three stages: 1 ) data reduction 2 ) presenting data 3 ) conclusion drawing or verification.Results of this study showed that children performed a variety of strategies for learning achievement such as 1 ) borrow books, among the others: the senior who has graduated, borrow books at the library, borrow books to a different school friends, borrow the book to the teacher 2 ) to repeat the lesson the teacher at the school, 3 ) for the materials and discuss the problems of the Internet, 4 ) form a study group. Then the constraints faced by students who excel , such as 1 ) divide difficult time in learning 2 ) lack of pleasure when one of my friends active in the learning process 3 ) is ridiculed by classmates for bringing lunch ( rice ) to school .

Abstract

Sipora Jaya people are people who have multicultur that consist of some etnich, where each etnic has different culture value. Although, Sipora Jaya people have many land of etnics but in Sipora Jaya  village  the conflic.  Never happend  between  them, in this  reseacher will discuss about how the strategy of multicultural people in Sipora Jaya village on building and creating  solidarity  between  people  there. Theory  that  used  is  solidarity  social  theory according  to  Emile  Durkheim.  Research  method  that  used  is  case  study  bay  kualitative approach.   The  instrument  date  is  direct  interview and  observaion.  This  research  did  by asking 25 informan, that consist of three different etnics, they one Java, Batak, and Minang that  the  information  were  cellected  by  ceveral  questions.  As  the  result  of  this  research,  it show  several  supporting  factor.  How  people  build  the  solidarity,  they  are  1).  Individual factor,  2). Environment factor,  3). Religion, 4). Force factor. From thore factors, three is a strategy that used by people of Sipora Jaya to build the solidarity. It is a activity that it doing together to create a cooperation and organizations that it be on unity between them. Type of strategy  that  used  to avaid  conflic are  :  1). Cooperaticn  in group of  people.  2). Trust each other. 3). Respecting the norm in sacral environment. 4). Social acticity. 5). Work together.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the basic assumptions about student consumptive lifestyle STKIP PGRI West Sumatra Sociology Program class of 2012, related to the reality on the ground is known that the student consumptive lifestyle is an expression to be recognized by the environment as a result they feel compelled to dress as perfect as possible. Clothes which they use not indicated or reflects an educator, therefore the problem can be formulated as follows: how consumptive lifestyle in West Sumatra student PGRI STKIP Sociology Program Force 2012.The theory used in this study is a consumerist society by Jeand Baudrillard. This type of research is qualitative research. Informants in this study is a student of Sociology of Education Studies Program 2012 Force of nine people, the selection of informants using purposive sampling technique. Data used in this study is primary data and secondary data. Method of data collection is done in two ways: (1) observation (non-participant observer), (2) in-depth interviews. Analysis of the data used by the model of qualitative research methodology Miles and Huberman, namely: (1) data collection phase, (2) data reduction phase, (3) the stage presentation of data, (4) the conclusion stage.It can be concluded that the reason for living consumptive student is (1) make it look attractive, as one student education candidates are expected to appear as attractive as possible. (2) more confident, buy nice clothes and branded can boost their confidence. (3) Following the trend, the student showed it to others to see and imitate the style of clothing is used, (4) feeling different from others, in terms of showing that they want to look different from the other student. Student consumptive lifestyles can be seen from (1) the criteria in selecting the types of goods are more likely to dress Chiffon, Longdrees, Logo, Levis, Jean s, and a bag with the brand Prada, Furla, Shopie Martin, as well as wearing the hijab Pasmina, (2) Frequency of shopping, (3) Location spending usually visit the Plaza Andalas, Basko and Boutique, (4) Costs incurred for expenditure, the average Rp.800.000 - Rp.500.000  usually one time role in the purchase of goods a month.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the involvement of women in the public sector that has limited resources and access. The effect is the options of range effort that was involved in a one commodity selling fruits. Problems that are often encountered women fruit sellers, among others, there are some pieces that are crop season pales in season then an increase in their economies. Another obstacle perishable fruit consequently is lowered the price of fruit. These conditions force and require women to have a variety of strategies to maintain viability to meet the needs of the family. While the purpose of the study to describe factors that encourage women to choose of selling  their fruits and describe survival strategies of women fruit sellers to overcome the problem of incoming to meet family needs. The theory that is used is the structural functional by Talcot Parson, it is known as carabao AGIL scheme. This research is qualitative descriptive study to develop the type of problem being investigated. Techniques of collecting data are through observation, interview, and documentation. Based on the results it can be concluded: 1. Factors of women choose to sell fruits are, a). economic factors that women choose to sell fruit because no large capital needs. In addition, the  needs of families that encourage women to choose this business. b). social factors and cultural heritage, are the efforts of parents and their relation with fruit growers c). seasonal factors, d). educational factors, it is  caused women fruiterer average low education. 2. A strategies that women employ fruiterer to survive in a family which are a). implementing a dual income b). reducing of spending in household in c). doing bussines with growers of fruit or fruit agent d). arisan e) changing the type of fruit depanding on the season periods fruits f). changing the type of the things that solid.

Abstract

Merantau really can not be separated from Minangkabau society and has a tradition of Minangkabau society. One is for the citizens Silungkang Nagari, which is also quite popular with nomads. The nomad community’s participation was also high in the construction of villages. The purpose of research is to describe the form of participation nomads and describe the driving factors and pull factors for migrants to participate in the development of Nagari Silungkang Silungkang district Sawahlunto City.The theory used in this study is Max Webers social action. This study used a qualitative approach which is defined as understanding what others feel, to understand the mindset and perspective of others. Informants in this study were the nomads who live Nagari Silungkang both at home and is in shoreline. Data collection is carried out through observation, interviews and document research. Analysis of the data using the model Milles and Huberman.Obtained from the research that forms the Diaspora participation is in the social field to help them with the construction of places of worship, in education, assistance provided nomads, among others, the assistance for educational facilities to the students in the form of scholarships to students to continue education. In the economic field, such as the assistance in the form of cheap groceries, driving factors and pull factors for nomads to participate development Nagari Silungkang the origin is (a) by reason of the love of my hometown, (b) responsibility for the area, and (c) to promote area, (d) social relations that have developed between people with nomads, and (e) the existence of a political element.

Abstract

This paper describes the background of communal indigenous land conflicts between kamanakan  malakok  with  niniak  mamak  Tobo  tribe,  in  Nagari  Koto  Padang  District  VII Laweh Sijunjung district. Conflict begins with the presence of communal land area of ± 2500 m²  (1/4hektar)  located  in  Ganting  (SMP  8  Nagari  Padang  Simpang  Laweh)  Jorong  Koto Padang Laweh which is belongs  niniak mamak  Tobo tribe of the land has not been tilled by niniak mamak and still empty. However kamanakan malakok fence and mengarap without the permission and knowledge of niniak mamak  triggering conflict. The research problem is how the background to the conflict  and resolution of conflicts between  kamanakan malakok  with niniak mamak  Tobo tribe in Nagari Padang Laweh.  The purpose of this study describes the background to the conflict and the resolution of conflict between  kamanakan malakok  with niniak mamak Tobo tribe in Nagari Koto Padang Laweh District VII.  In this study, the author uses the theory of Lewis Coser, to avoid conflicts from the sharper the necessary safety valve.The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach  with descriptive type to provide a detailed  picture  of  the  reality  under  study.  Data  was  collected  through  observation  and interviews.  Informants  were taken by sampling porposive.  Based on the results of research conducted,  communal land conflicts caused by  malakok  nephew who worked and fencing of communal  land  without  the  permission  and  knowledge  of  the  Tobo  tribe  niniak  mamakresulting land conflict issues.  While the form of conflict resolution through deliberation and consensus between the two sides, conflict is not resolved by the prince of the tribe  resulting in the issue resolved through official organizations, the wali nagari the prince of the tribe and last through the police, after receiving the decision of the police, found both parties and reach an agreement by dividing 2 lands which are written above the letter of agreement, signed byboth parties.

Abstract

Fokus utama penelitian ini untuk menyelidiki serta memahami perempuan yang ikut berdagang di pasar nagari. Bagaimana keterkaitannya dengan lahirnya jiwa enterprenuership masyarakat Minangkabau serta keterkaitan enterprenuership dengan pemberdayaan ekonomi wilayah Sumatera Barat dan Nasional.Ada beberapa alasan perempuan pedagang terjun ke perdagangan eksport yaitu; (1) ingin melanjutkan kehidupan keluarga, (2) ketimpangan kepemilikan lahan pertanian yang dikuasai, (3) tingkat pendidikan yang rendah, (4) asal suku (sosial budaya).Keberadaan perempuan pedagang di pasar nagari merupakan incubator lahirnya dan terlanggengnya jiwa enterpreneurship untuk generasi selanjutnya di Minangkabau sekaligus telah memberikan sumbangan terhadap pemberdayaan ekonomi wilayah Sumatera Barat secara khusus dan ekonomi Nasional secara umum.

Abstract

Existence PKPEK (Society for Research and Development of Community Economy) as one NGO aims to empower communities to improve peoples income Pelemadu after the massive earthquake that occurred in 2006. The earthquake caused many casualties both material and non materti. Upon entry there PKPEK a significant increase of the income of the people, especially artisans dent.PKPEK existence begins with a change in the views seen from the aspect of change in the business entity, to provide infrastructure needed by the community as an asset, manpower and motivation. While the obstacles faced during the process of mentoring, among others: a) capital mainly raw materials, b) the means of production, c) market and d) price.

Abstract

This research tell about women trader in informal sector especially vendors incentral market of Padang. There is an increasing appreciation in the societytowards women as the women empowerment movement comes into various field.This time women role have contributed in fulfilling the families economic somuch the felt. This research want to explain earthquake consequence and vendorswomen livehood strategies also gender relation of their families.Result of research : 1) The vendors women in the central market of Padang havecontributed in fulfilling the family's economic necessities when their husbands hasfaced difficulties in providing basic necessities of their families. 2) The September2009 earthquake in West Sumatera has caused less income for vendors in thecentral market of Padang. This condition motivates them to make strategies fortheir survival and continuing their children education's. There are severalstrategies done by the vendors, such as moving to other places all the time,extending the trading time and getting loan from other people. 3) The shift in thejob role has changed the role of women. The wife's salary could be the mainincome for their families while the husband's salary as the secondary income.Women was domain to taked conclusion such as children education's, boughtanother thing for their families etc
