Abstract

Students abilities can be developed through lectures, one of which is variable Calculus 2. In order for the maximum tuition required of a material that can support course lectures. In West Sumatra, Padang PGRI STKIP students only rely on one textbook only when the lectures, so the motivation and low student interest in learning. Therefore it takes a lecture materials that can help facilitate students in the lecture, which is a modul. The purpose of this study is to develop a modul valid, practical and effective in subjects STKIP PGRI Calculus 2 in West Sumatra.This study is a research development. This modul was developed by using the 4D model (define, design, develop, and desseminate). Phase desseminate not done. The data was collected with the validation and testing of the modul. modul is validated by the lecturer and expert Calculus 2, as well as Indonesian lecturers. Tests carried out on mathematics education students STKIP PGRI West Sumatra to know praktikalitas and effectiveness of the modul.         The results showed that: 1) modul is valid (including the content and construct validity) of the validators point of view, 2) the use of modul in the lecture did not experience significant barriers. The book is a practical work according to students and lecturers; and 3) modul have been effective. This is evident from the activities of students and high motivation to learn after the lecture.

Abstract

            The background of this research was lack of concept understanding of students couse study result of math of eight grade students of MTsN Durian Tarung Padang in the school year 2012/2013 are still low largely. This research aimed to determine whether students’ understanding of mathematical concepts by listening team type of active leaning strategy is better then the students understanding of math concepts with conventional. Type of this research is experimental, by design of random to the subject. The population in this study were eight grade students of MTsN Durian Tarung Padang in the school year 2012/2013. Technique of random sampling, was elected class 𝑉𝐼𝐼𝐼3 as an experimental class and class 𝑉𝐼𝐼𝐼4 as the control class. The instrument used was an essay test with reliability 𝒓𝟏𝟏=0.75. Based on the analysis test of students’ understanding of mathematics concepts for two class sample obtained experimental class average is 74.43 and control class is 62.45 with P-value = 0,004 is less than a = 0.05 this means that the ability of students’ understanding concept’ of math by using listening team type active leaning strategy is better than study outcomes of math by using conventional learning at 95 % trusted level.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on the fact that the students’ understanding on mathematics concept was still low and the students prefer to study in group, but the result is not appropriate with expectation. This research was aimed at revealing whether the use of cooperative learning Numbered Heads technique could improve the second year students’ understanding on mathematics concept better than that of conventional learning. Type of this research is experimental research which using Random subject as research design. The populations in this study were eighth grade students of SMP 28 Padang academic year 2013/2014. By using technique of Random sampling, the sample was selected the class VIII4 as experimental class and VIII6 as control class. This study used post-test as instrument to measure the students’ understanding mathematical concepts. The form of post-test is essay with a reliability r11 = 0,87 . The data analysis technique used t –test by using MINITAB. Based on the analysis of the data found that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous samples at the level of 95 % with α = 0.05 . Hypothesis test results obtained P - value equal to 0.015 means less than α = 0.05 , then the hypothesis in this study received so it can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by using cooperative learning Numbered Heads technique is better than student understanding of mathematical concepts by conventional teaching class VIII SMP 28 Padang

Abstract

In this research , as background of the study is low achievement of student in SMPN 2 IV Jurai. The purpose of study is to determine: whether are the result of using active instructional model as type learning group is better then using the conventional learning. The kind of study is experimental research. Population of the study was VIII grade of SMPN 2 IV Jurai especially academic years 2012/2013. The researcher chosen the sample by using random sampling technique, the samples were VIII.1 and VIII.2. the instrument that had been used for collecting data is by giving achievement test. The test is essay form that has reliability about = 0,89. In addition, analyzing data that had been done by using t test. Based on the hypothesis testing is gotten P-value = 0,008 < . In this case, the hypothesis can be received. It can be concluded that using the type of group learning model is better than using conventional learning in teaching process.

Abstract

The background from this research is a low comprehension students’ mathematics concept at SMPN 1 Pancung Soal. The aim from this research is to know the comprehension students’ mathematics which use Bisnis Beresiko Technique more better from a comprehension students’ with use a conventional learning. A kind from this research is experiment with random design to subject. The instrument is study kuesioner effectiviness and comprehension students’ mathematics test like essay with reliability test is  = 0,85. Analysis data technique which use is t-test in one side with Minitab. According to the hypothesis, the result P-value = 0,023 more smaller from α = 0,05, so that the hypothesis research is accepted. The conclusion from this research is a comprehension students’ mathematics with use Bisnis Beresiko Technique more better from with use conventional learning.

Abstract

The background of research causes of  students do not courage to question the teachers and  student less  understanding of mathematical concepts. This study aims is to determine students math concept comprehension with Questions Students Have strategy and quiz better than math concept comprehension with conventional learning. The research is experimental by using Randomized Control Group Only Design. Population is students in the class VIII SMPN 23 Padang. The instrument used is examination with reliability 0,81. To test hypothesis used t-test one side with MINITAB, obtained P-Value 0,000 less than α = 0,05, so hypothesis received. In conclusion, students math concept comprehension with Questions Students Have strategy and quiz better than students math concept comprehension with conventional learning.

Abstract

This research was background by the learning outcomes of student’s mathematic in SMPN 1 Koto XI Tarusan was low. This was one of the factors may indicate the student’s understanding of mathematics concepts was still low. The aim of this research was to determine whether student’s understanding of mathematics concepts by applying study with Spotlight accompanied Call Card techniques better than understanding of mathematic concept in convensional study to the student’s at the VIII grade in SMPN 1 Koto XI Tarusan. The type of the research was experimental research with random sampling techniques. The population in the research were the students of VIII grades in the school year 2013/2014. The selected sample was VIII.2 as the experimental class and VIII.3 as the control class. The instrument used in this study was the test of understanding concept in the form of essays. The data obtained were analyzed by using a normality test, homogeneity test and t-test. Based on mathematical final test value of the student in both of sample classes is got experimental class with  = 62 higher than the control class with  = 50. The results of uji-t are got t count value = 2.44 and         t table = 1.645, because of t count > t table consequently hipetesis in this research was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the ability of understanding of mathematic concept by using the study with Spotlight accompanied Call Card techniques better than the student’s understanding of mathematic concept with conventional study to the student’s at the VIII grade in SMPN 1 Koto XI Tarusan at the level of 95 %.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the students’ comprehension of math concept are still low at SMPN 5 Koto XI Tarusan. This research aims to determine the students’ comprehension of math concept that apply cooperative learning Talking Stick type better than students’ comprehension of math concept that apply conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 5 Koto XI Tarusan. This type of research is experimental research, the design of randomized trials on the subject. The research instrument was a test of understanding mathematical concepts shaped the essay with a reliability test is r11 = 0.904, that is to say about that used reliable. Based on the analysis of the data found that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous samples at significance level α = 0.05. Hypothesis test results obtained P-value = 0.000 is less than α = 0.05, the research hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts using cooperative learning model Talking Stick better than students understanding of mathematical concepts with conventional teaching class VIII SMPN5 Koto XI Tarusan.

Abstract

The research was based on low of students math concept comprehension at SMPN 23 Padang. The research is to aims determine students math concept comprehension with Hollywod Squares Review strategy better than students math concept comprehension with conventional learning. The research is experimental by using Random Sampling. Population is students in the class VII SMPN 23 Padang. The instrument used is examination with reliability 0,873. To test hypothesis used t-test one side with MINITAB, obtained P-Value 0,008 less than α = 0,05, so hypothesis received. In conclusion, students math concept comprehension with Hollywood Squares Review strategy better than students math concept comprehension with conventional learning.

Abstract

The research is motivated by the lack of class VIII student learning outcomes MTsN Pekan Selasa Kabupaten Solok Selatan. Research is caused by the applied mathematic instructional strategies teacher are less variable, the learning process is centered on the teacher so that, the learning occurs is one-way. One method to overcome these problems by applying the method of Index Card Match (ICM) in learning. This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying method of Index Card Match (ICM) is better than student understanding of mathematical concepts with conventional teaching eighth grade students MTsN Pekan Selasa Kabupaten Solok Selatan. The type of research is the design of experimental studies Against Random Subjects. The research instrument is the final test in the form of essays. The  hypothesis testing using t-test of the parties with the help of MINITAB, obtained P-value of 0.000 is smaller than a = 0.05, so it can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying method of Index Card Match (ICM) is better than understanding concepts conventional mathematical learning.
