Abstract

Abstract: The aim of the research was to determine the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from the students attitude towards mathematics. The learning model compared were 4Ex2, LC 5E and conventional learning model. Data analysis techniques used to test the hypothesis was two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The conclusions of the research were as follows. 1) The learning achievement in Mathematics of the students exposed to the 4Ex2 learning model are better than LC 5E learning model and conventional learning model, and  the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students exposed to the LC 5E learning model are better than conventional learning model. 2) The learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high attitudes toward Mathematics are better than that of the students with the medium and low attitudes toward Mathematics, and the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the medium attitudes toward Mathematics are better than that of the students with the low attitudes toward Mathematics. 3) In the 4Ex2 learning model, the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high attitudes toward Mathematics are better than medium and low attitudes toward Mathematics, and the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the medium attitudes toward Mathematics are better than low attitudes toward Mathematics. In the LC 5E learning model, the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high attitudes toward Mathematics are better than medium and low attitudes toward Mathematics, the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the medium attitudes toward Mathematics are the same as low attitudes toward Mathematics. In the conventional learning model, the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high attitudes toward Mathematics are the same as medium attitudes toward Mathematics, the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high and medium attitudes toward Mathematics are better than low attitudes toward Mathematics. 4) In the students with the high attitudes toward Mathematics the learning achivement of the students exposed to the LC 5E learning model are the same as 4Ex2 learning model and the conventional learning model, the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students exposed to the 4Ex2 learning model are better than conventional learning model, and both in the students with the medium attitudes toward Mathematics and in those with the low attitudes toward Mathematics, students exposed to the 4Ex2 learning model, LC 5E learning model, and conventional learning model result in the same learning achievement in Mathematics. Keywords: Learning model, 4Ex2, LC 5E, attitudes toward Mathematics, learning achievement in Mathematics.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students’ ability in solving mathematical representation problems evaluated from mathematical disposition.  The subjects are three students of 10th grade of public senior high school (PSHS) in Padalarang, West Java, Indonesia. They were selected from 35 students with high, medium, and low mathematical disposition ability. The results of the study showed that almost all of the students able to use visual representation to solve mathematical problems, and create mathematical models and solve problems by involving mathematical expressions. In contrast, most of students could not fulfill two indicators of the mathematical representation ability, i.e. creating the sketch of geometric patterns and making the mathematical model based on the situation and data given.

Abstract

Calculus is one of the subjects that must be taken by students majoring in mathematics education at the Teachers' Training College Siliwangi, this course is given to students in semester 4. From the analysis of learning obstacle, it can be seen that almost all mahsaiswa have difficulty learning in a calculus course. This is because the factors that influence in solving the problems given by the researchers. From the test results can also be seen the answer given by many students who make mistakes, be it in using formulas, operating, to answer directly without a process and students can not memjawab about a given test. These difficulties lead to poor results. It can be concluded that mahsiwa not been able to understand the material given or students only attend learning without any understanding of the material provided.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the relationship between self confidence with the ability of mathematical problem solving of IX grade junior high school students. Research method is correlation analysis. The subject of this study consisted of 35 students of student in grade IX junior high school in Cimahi. Sampling technique using random technique. The test were done by giving about problem solving skills in the form of essay 5 items and self confidence questionnaire with Likert scale. The data analysis steps used were normality, correlation test, determine the coefficient of determination or coefficient determinant to see contribution or influence of variable self confidence to variable the ability of mathematical problem solving and continued with significance test (t test). Based on the result of research, it can be conclude that there is a significant relationship between self confidence in the ability of solving mathematical problems of junior high school students. Keywords: the ability of mathematical problem solving, self confidence, junior high school students.

Abstract

Abstract

Since March 2020 the government has officially issued a circular stating that all activities that are usually carried out both inside and outside must be temporarily suspended due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. The implementation of the system has an impact on educational activities that must be carried out online. Teachers and students carry out learning through thesystem online that has been provided. Through this study, researchers analyzed the effectiveness of learning videos as a medium for learning mathematics during the pandemic. The sample of this study was 60 junior high school students from private or public schools in the Mekarmukti Village area. The research instrument used was in the form of a questionnaire, then distributed vialink google form an online. The research method used is survey research method and processed using microsoft excel. Based on the results obtained from data analysis using ascale Likert, it shows that the learning video used is an effective learning media used as an online learning media for mathematics during the pandemic, seen from the interest in learning, response, and activeness of students as well as the usefulness of learning videos. in online or distance learning mathematics during a pandemic.
