Abstract

Subject matter knowledge is important knowledge possessed by prospective mathematics teachers. In general, this study aims to examine the achievement of Subject Matter Knowledge (SMK) of mathematics teacher candidate students who study with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This study used a mixed-method. The research design used was explanatory sequential design. The population consisted of undergraduate students of the Mathematics Education Study Program.  The sample used was 80 students of prospective mathematics teachers consisting of 40 students in the PBL class and 40 students in the CL-class. The results obtained were: the achievement of the vocational students of mathematics teacher candidates who studied with PBL was better than those of prospective mathematics teacher students who studied with conventional learning. In addition, from the five indicators, four indicators experienced a high increase and one indicator experienced a moderate increase, namely the indicator of the ability to connect the concept of a quadratic function in everyday life.

Abstract

Abstract:Lack of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) and Content Knowledge (CK) of a teacher is a problem in the implementation of mathematics learning. There were various opinions about the correlation between PCK and CK of teacher's knowledge. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the correlation between them to the students of Mathematics Education as prospective mathematics teachers. The method used was a mix-method to determine the inferential correlation and to investigate deeply. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling by taking 33 students majoring in Mathematics education at Institut Pendidikan Indonesia. The results of the study indicated that there was a significant correlation between the students' PCK and CK as prospective teachers. PCK and CK were an integral part of teacher competence in teaching Mathematics. This study confirmed that the Mathematical beliefs of prospective teachers need serious attention. The implication in this study provided a statement about the importance of constructivism learning in the development of students' PCK and CK.Abstrak:Kurangnya Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) dan Content Knowledge (CK) seorang guru menjadi masalah dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran matematika. Terjadi perbedaan pendapat tentang korelasi keduanya dalam struktur pengetahuan guru. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian untuk menganalisis korelasi antara PCK dan CK pada mahasiswa jurusan Ppendidikan Matematika sebagai calon guru Matematika. Metode yang digunakan adalah mix-method  untuk mengetahui korelasi secara inferensial dan menganalisis lebih dalam secara kualitatif. Teknik sampel yang digunakan yaitu puposive sampling dengan mengambil sampel sebanyak 33 mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan matematika di Institut Pendidikan Indonesia. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara PCK dengan CK mahasiswa sebagai calon guru. PCK dan CK merupakan satu kesatuan dari kompetensi guru dalam mengajar Matematika. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa keyakinan Matematis calon guru perlu mendapat perhatian yang serius. Implikasi dalam penelitian ini memberikan pernyataan tentang pentingnya pembelajaran kontruktivisme dalam pengembangan PCK dan CK mahasiswa.

Abstract

Beliefs and Pedagogical Content Knowledge are important things for prospective mathematics teachers to have. The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation of beliefs with Pedagogical Content Knowledge of prospective mathematics teachers. The research method used quasi-experimental with purposive sampling technique. The research sample is students majoring in Mathematics Education at Institut Pendidikan Indonesia. Data was collected by giving written tests and questionnaires which were then analyzed using Spearman correlation. The results of the study show that there is a correlation between beliefs and Pedagogical Content Knowledge of prospective mathematics teachers.

Abstract

AbstractBased on previous observations note that the ability of some students' mathematical communication is still lacking. Therefore, it is necessary to improve students' mathematical communication ability by using Predict Observe Explanation (POE) learning model. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of implementing mathematics learning through the Predict Observe Explanation (POE) learning model in an effort to improve students' communication skills. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of two cycles and each cycle is done with 4 stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study are students of class XI SMK Al Hikmah Garut. The results showed POE learning model can improve students' mathematical communication ability with the learning stages: 1) predict:  predicting the temporary answer of the given mathematical problem; 2) observe: observing other similar issues through teacher demonstrations; 3) explanation: presenting predictions and observations.Keywords: Mathematical Communication Skill, Predict Observe Explanation Learning Model

Abstract

A teacher's Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is important in implementing mathematics learning. Therefore it is necessary to do socialization about PCK to mathematics teachers. One of the efforts that can be done is to provide community service. This effort was carried out by holding workshops for mathematics teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 5 Cibatu. The data was collected by giving a questionnaire to the mathematics teacher. The results of this community service show that the development of PCK needs to be accompanied by the development of knowledge of mathematics content as an integral part of teacher competence in teaching mathematics.

Abstract

The problem of teacher weakness in using software applications to support the online learning process is the theme raised in this training. The solution offered from this training is the Jotform application. The purpose of this training activity is to introduce the Jotform application to teachers in Garut. The research implementation method consists of five stages, namely: introduction, socialization, training, practice, and monitoring. The object of this training activity is the teachers in the Garut region. The training was conducted in two sessions, namely: presentation of material and practice. The benefit of the Jotform application training is evident from the commitment of the training participants about the plan to implement the Jotform application in their learning class. The results of the evaluation of the implementation of this training indicate that this training is useful to support the teaching and learning process carried out in schools. The training method is able to improve the skills of teachers in using the Jotform application. The conclusion of this training is the knowledge in using the Jotform application for teachers so that it is hoped that in the future teachers in Garut will use the Jotform application in making attendance forms and questionnaires/assignments/quizzes

Abstract

AbstrakPelaksanaan pembelajaran matematika perlu dilakukan dengan tepat agar siswa memiliki kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang bisa digunakan adalah Mood, Understand, recall, Detect, Elaborate, and Review (MURDER). Pelaksanaan pembelajaran ini diawali dengan membangun suasana hati siswa agar memiliki perasaan dan pemikiran positif terhadap matematika, memahami materi matematika, mengingat kembali materi yang telah dipelajari, Mendeteksi kesalahan yang dilakukan, mengelaborasi pengetahuan, dan mengulas kembali apa yang telah dikerjakan. Agar pembelajaran lebih bermakna, dalam pembelajaran MURDER perlu disertai pelaksanaan suatu proyek yang berkaitan dengan materi yang dibahas. Proyek yang dimaksud dapat berupa pengamatan dan pengkajian terhadap fenomena dalam lingkungan sekitar yang berkaitan dengan materi yang sedang dibahas. AbstractImplementation of mathematics learning needs to be done properly so that students have high-level thinking skills. One of the learning methods that can be used is Mood, Understand, Recall, Detect, Elaborate, and Review (MURDER). Implementation of this learning begins by building the mood of students to have positive feelings and thoughts about mathematics, understand mathematical material, recall the material that has been studied, detect mistakes made, elaborate knowledge, and review what has been done. For learning to be more meaningful, in learning MURDER needs to be accompanied by the implementation of a project related to the material discussed. The project in question can be observation and assessment of phenomena in the surrounding environment related to the material being discussed.

Abstract

AbstrakKemampuan komunikasi matematis perlu dimiliki mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan masalah matematika. Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi perlu didukung oleh pembelajaran yang tepat, diantaranya pembelajaran Think Talk Write (TTW). Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi mahasiswa antara yang belajar dengan pembelajaran Think Talk Write dan konvensional, serta mengetahui interpretasi peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi mahasiswa dari kedua kelas. Metode penelitian yaitu kuasi eksperimen. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan teknik Purposive Sampling dengan sampel sebanyak dua kelas di Program studi Pendidikan Matematika Institut Pendidikan Indonesia. Analisis data secara kuantitatif dengan uji gain ternormalisasi dan Mann Whitney. Hasil penelitian yaitu pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi mahasiswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran Think Talk Write lebih baik dari mahasiswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional, peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis mahasiswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran Think Talk Write memiliki interpretasi tinggi sedangkan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis mahasiswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional memiliki interpretasi sedang.Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis, Think Talk Write, kuasi eksperimen Mathematical Communication Ability of Student through Think Talk Write LearningAbstractCommunication ability needs to be possessed by students to solve mathematical problems. Improved communication skills need to be supported by appropriate learning, one of which is learning Think Talk Write (TTW). The purpose of this study is to analyze the achievement and improvement of communication ability between students who are learning with Think Talk Write learning and conventional learning, as well as to find out interpretations of improved communication ability of students from both classes. The research method is quasi-experiment. The sampling technique is the purposive sampling technique by taking a sample of two classes in the Mathematics Education Study Program of the Institut Pendidikan Indonesia. Data analysis was performed quantitatively using the normalized gain test and Mann Whitney. The results of the study are the achievement and improved of communication skills of students who study with Think Talk Write learning is better than students who study with conventional learning, improvement of mathematical communication skills of students who study with Think Talk Write learning has a high interpretation while increasing mathematical communication skills of students who study with conventional learning have medium interpretations.Keywords: Mathematical Communication Ability, Think Talk Write, quasi-experiment

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil-hasil penelitian terdahulu yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa belum sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Salah satu pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis adalah pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa sebagai akibat dari pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen yang menerapkan dua pembelajaran yaitu pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan pembelajaran konvensional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa di salah satu SMK di Kabupaten Garut. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling, dan diperoleh dua kelas sebagai sampel penelitian. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: (1) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran berbasis masalah lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional, (2) Kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa ketika mengerjakan soal-soal yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis adalah kesalahan karena kecerobohan atau kurang cermat, kesalahan mentransformasikan informasi, kesalahan keterampilan proses, dan kesalahan memahami soal.ABSTRACTThis research is motivated by the results of previous studies that showed that students' mathematical problem solving ability is not as expected. One lesson to improve mathematical problem solving is based learning problems . The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability as a result of problem-based learning. This study is a quasi-experimental study that applies two problem-based learning and conventional learning. The population in this study were students in one of the vocational schools in Garut. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, and obtained two classes as the study sample. The research instrument used was a test of mathematical problem solving abilities. Based on these results we concluded that: (1) the increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability that gets problem-based learning better than students who received conventional learning, (2) mistakes made by student when working on the problems related to mathematical problem solving ability was a mistake due to carelessness or less closely, tansform fault information, error process skills, and misunderstanding question.Keywords: problem based learning, mathematical problem solving ability
