Abstract

Rice panicle branching architecture is an important trait affecting yield, but its responses across different seasons have not been extensively studied yet. The aim of this study was to evaluate the panicle branching responses of fifteen rice genotypes on different seasons. This study was conducted from April 2017 to March 2018 at Babakan Experimental Station, IPB University, Dramaga, Bogor. Fifteen genotypes as treatments were grown in the dry and wet seasons to study the genotypes × seasons interaction effects on panicle branching. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. Individual analysis and combined analyses over seasons were performed. The results revealed that the genotype, season, and genotype × seasons had significant effects on panicle length, number of primary branches, length of primary branches, and length of secondary branches. The results of the study may be useful for rice breeders in conducting selection based on panicle branching. Keywords: dry and wet season, genotypes × seasons, rice breeding

Abstract

The objective of this experiment was to determine of dung fertilizer dosage on two soybean genotypes on dry land. The experiment was conducted in IPB Experimental Station Cikarawang, Bogor, from April to June 2001. This experiment used split plot design with three replication. The mainplot was genotypes consisted of : NS (Nakorn Sawan), and G (Genotype)  10428; and the subplot was dung fertilizer dosage consisted of : 0, 1, 2, 4 ton/ha.   The genotype effected to the stalk dry weight at 4 WAP (Week After Planting), and fresh pod weight per plot The dung fertilizer dosage only effected to the number of fill pod per plant,  and the interaction did not effect to the all variables.

Abstract

Daun dewa (Gynura pseudochina (L.) DC) merupakan tanaman obat yang mempunyai beberapa khasiat penting yaitu sebagai penurun panas, anti tumor atau kanker, dan obat kulit. Kandungan kimia daun dewa yaitu antosianin dan flavonoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) menemukan kombinasi pemupukan dan waktu panen daun dewa yang tepat di lapang untuk menghasilkan senyawa antosianin daun dan kuersetin umbi tinggi; (2) menentukan produksi total senyawa antosianin daun dan kuersetin umbi daun dewa. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan petak terpisah (split plot design), Petak utama adalah Pupuk (P) ditempatkan sebagai (tanpa pemupukan; pupuk kotoran sapi (20 ton/ha) + NPK (Urea=300kg/ha, SP36=100 kg/ha, KCl=50 kg/ha), pupuk kotoran sapi (20 ton/ha) + NPK (Urea=300kg/ha, SP36=100 kg/ha, KCl=50 kg/ha) + MgSO4 (50 kg/ha) dan anak petak adalah waktu panen (W) (4, 5.5, 7 bulan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemupukan nyata meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, panjang dan lebar daun, lebar daun dan luas daun hingga 8 (MST). Perlakuan pupuk kotoran sapi (20 ton/ha) dan waktu panen 4 bulan nyata meningkatkan bobot basah daun tertinggi (38,83 g) dan meningkatkan produksi total antosianin dauntertinggi (13,41 mg/ tanaman). Perlakuan pupuk kotoran sapi (20 ton /ha) + NPK (300kg/ha urea, 100 kg /ha SP36, 50 kg/ha KCl) nyata meningkatkan rata-rata produksi total quercetin umbi (59.74 mg/tanaman). Abstract

ABSTRACT Black cumin (Nigella sativa L.) is a medicinal plant and spices belongs to the Ranunculaceae family. Black cumin seed contains some  secondary compounds and rich in nutrition that are beneficial  to health. The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of organic fertilizer rates on plant growth and production of black cumin (Nigella sativa L.). This research was conducted at Manoko Lembang, Bandung Barat from October 2012 to January 2013. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The treatment consists of two factors, i.e. cow manure and rates of rock phosphate. Rates of cow manure applied were 0, 10, 20, and 30 ton ha-1, and rates of rock phosphate were 0, 40, 80, and 120 kg P2O5 ha-1. The results showed that cow manure increased plant height, leaf number, branch  number, flower  number, fresh weight and dry weight of branch, leaf and total plant weight. Rock phosphate fertilizer increased  leaf  area  and  leaf  area index of plant. Fertilizers that can efficiently increase production was 10 tons cow manure ha-1 and 40 kg P2O5 ha-1.Keywords: cow manure, growth, Nigella sativa L, production, rock phosphate

Abstract

The Effect of Water Management and Rice Genotypes to Against Toxicity of Iron and Productivity of Rice in Tidal Land Type B in South Sumatera. Tidal land is one of the alternative land to support increased productivity of rice, but rice productivity in this area is still low, and the land utilization is not optimal yet. One factor is high iron content in the soil that can be toxic to plants. The purposes of this study were (1) to determine the effect of water management and rice genotype, as well as their interaction on the percentage of leaf bronzing, growth and yield of rice in tidal lands, (2) to select an alternative combination of water management and rice genotypes that may increase rice yields in tidal land. This study was conducted from February until June 2013 in the tidal area with type B overflow, Mulia Sari village, Banyu Asin regency, South Sumatera. The experimental design used was a split plot design with three replications. The main plot was water management with four levels, while the subplot was rice genotypes consisted of three genotypes. The results showed that water management and its interactions with plant genotypes had significant effect only on the percentage of bronzing, Fe content in shoot, and Fe content in root crops, while the plant genotype significantly affected all observed variables. The use of genotypes tolerant to iron toxicity (Indragiri) combined with (form stagnant and saturated water management) drainage with intervals of two weeks could give yield 6.8 and 6.2 t/ha respectively.Keywords : Water management, genotype paddy, tidal landABSTRAKLahan pasang surut merupakan salah satu lahan alternatif untuk mendukung peningkatan produksi padi, tetapi produksi padi di lahan ini masih rendah, dan pemanfaatan lahannya belum optimal. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah adanya senyawa besi dalam tanah yang dapat meracuni tanaman. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengelolaan air dan genotipe tanaman padi serta interaksinya terhadap hasil padi di lahan pasang surut, (2) memilih alternatif kombinasi pengelolaan air dan genotipe tanaman padi yang sesuai dan dapat meningkatkan hasil padi di lahan pasang surut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan bulan Februari – Juni 2013 di lahan pasang surut tipe luapan B, Desa Mulia Sari, Kabupaten Banyu Asin Sumatera Selatan. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Petak Terpisah dengan tiga ulangan. Sebagai petak utama adalah pengelolaan air, yang terdiri dari empat taraf, sedangkan sebagai anak petak adalah genotipe padi, yang terdiri dari tiga genotipe (IRH108, IR64 dan Indragiri). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan air dan interaksinya dengan genotipe tanaman berpengaruh nyata terhadap persentase bronzing, kandungan Fe di tajuk, kandungan Fe di akar dan hasil tanaman sedangkan genotipe tanaman berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua peubah yang diamati. Penanaman genotipe tanaman toleran terhadap keracunan besi (genotipe Indragiri) yang dikombinasikan dengan drainase berinterval dua minggu dapat memberikan hasil masing-masing 6,8 dan 6,2 t/ha.

Abstract

Twenty-nine soybean genotypes originating from various countries were evaluated on the tidal swamp of Indonesia to obtain information of agronomic character diversity as the soybean response to the environment and to obtain adaptive genotypes that can be used to develop soybean genotypes for the land. This study was conducted in a complete randomized block design with 3 replications. Diverse genetic backgrounds, countries and climatic regions of the 29 soybean genotypes were responsible for the difference in agronomic responses among the genotypes. All temperate and sub-tropical genotypes were able to produce seeds in the tropical type-B overflow tidal swamp. Adaptability based on seed yield resulted in 1 highly adaptive, 17 adaptive, 5 moderately adaptive and 6 non-adaptive genotypes. Adaptive and highly adaptive genotypes produced 1.56 - 2.58 tons ha-1 of seeds. Karasumame (Naihou), a subtropical genotype, produced the highest seed yield which was 65% higher than Indonesia average soybean productivity and 225% higher than soybean productivity with non-saturated soil culture technology on the tidal swamp. This study concluded that temperate and subtropical genotypes could be used as germplasm sources for soybean development in the tropical type-B overflow tidal swamp in Indonesia.

Abstract

The effects of nitrogen fertilizer on agronomic and morphological characters depend on several factors such as genotypes and nitrogen rate. The study was aimed to evaluate nitrogen effects on rice panicle. A field experiment was conducted at Babakan Research Station during November 2015- February 2016 using a split-split plot design with three replicates. Nitrogen doses was a main plot, genotypes was a subplot, and time of application was a sub-subplot. A greenhouse experiment was carried out at PAIR, Jakarta during February-July 2017 using a completely randomized design with three replicates. The results from the field experiment indicated that the highest panicle number (13.25), number of filled grains (177.94) and spikelet number (213.76) were obtained at doses of 450 kg urea ha-1. Analysis of variance showed that the genotypic effects were significant for all traits observed, while the interaction effect between genotypes and time of nitrogen application was significant on the length of first grain from first node. However, the three-factors interactions were not significant for all traits. The greenhouse experiment revealed that both genotypes and N rates significantly affected all traits except for panicle number and the length of first grain from first node, respectively, while their interaction only significant for number of primary branch. Nitrogen increased all traits observed except the length of first grain from first node. Simultaneously, both experiments showed significant effects of genotypes for all traits observed. Doses of urea fertilizers above 400 kg ha-1 could improve the performance of panicle traits in order to increase yield potential.

Abstract

Soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill) demand is high in Indonesia, however national production is low, therefore improving productivity is important. The research was aimed to determine the effect of application of biofertilizer containing N- fixing and P- solubilizing bacteria on the growth and production of soybean in lowland swamp. The experiment was conducted  at  Labuhan Ratu VI Village, District of Labuhan Ratu, East Lampung Regency from September to December 2014. The experiment was arranged in factorial randomized block design with three replications. N and P fertilizers were applied in four levels. Doses of N were 0, 11.25, 22.50, 33.75 kg ha-1, doses of P were 0, 36, 72, 108 P2O5 kg ha-1, in combination with and without biofertilizer application. The results showed that interaction between biofertilizer and N significantly affected number of branches and number of leaves at maximum vegetative phase. The influence of three types of fertilizer had no significant effect on the productivity of soybean in lowland swamp with soil pH of 7.0 and medium soil fertility. It is recommended to apply Biofertilizer + 11,25 kg N ha-1 + 36 kg P2O5 ha-1 to obtain high soybean production in lowland swamp area.Keywords: nitrogen, phosphate, productivity, soil fertility

Abstract

Saturated soil culture (SSC) technology appropriate to prevent pyrite oxidation on tidal swamps and has been proved to increase the productivity of soybean on non-tidal swamp. The objective of the research was to determine the growth response of soybean varieties under saturated soil culture on tidal swamps. The research was conducted at Banyu Urip, Tanjung Lago, Banyuasin District, and South Sumatera Province, Indonesia from April to August 2009. The experiment was arranged in a split plot design with three replications. The main-plot of the experiment was water depth in the furrow consisted of 10, 20, 30, and 40 cm under soil surface (USS). The subplot of the experiments was soybean varieties consisted of Tanggamus, Slamet, Wilis, and Anjasmoro. No-watering was arranged out of the design as a comparison. The result showed that nutrient absorption of N, K and Mn by Tanggamus was higher than those of other varieties, except K, however K absorption of Tanggamus was not significantly different from Anjasmoro. P and Fe absorption of Tangamus tended to be higher than the other varieties, although statistically they were not affected by variety. However, technically and economically, 20 cm USS was the most appropriate water depth for soybean production at tidal swamps.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of phosphorous fertilization on growth and production of Indian pennyworth (Centella asiatica L. Urban) in the high altitude (1,500 m above sea level/asl). This experiment was carried out at Gunung Putri experimental station Balittro,Cipanas, Cianjur in October 2008 until April 2009. The treatment was laid-out in a Complete Randomized Block Design and consisted of single factor with 5 replications. The factor was P2O5 fertilization i.e. 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 kg P2O5.ha-1. The results of the experiment showed that P2O5 fertilizer significantly increased the total leaf number, leaf length, the total flower number, leaf thickness of mother plant and production components at 6 month after planting. The highest production (1.34 ton dry weight.ha-1) was achieved by 60 kg P2O5.ha-1. The optimum dosage to improve dry weight production of Indian pennyworth in high altitude was 65.84 kg P2O5.ha-1.Key words: Centella asiatica L., phosphorous fertilization, production
