Abstract

The problem in this study is that students are less interested in learning and seen from the daily results obtained from SMAW subject teachers that the learning outcomes of SMAW subjects in the Welding Engineering department are still low. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between interest in learning and learning outcomes in SMAW subjects. This type of research is descriptive correlational research. The sample stated in this study were all students of class XI of the Welding Engineering Department who participated in the 48 Solid Metal Arc Welding subjects. The results of the study revealed a contribution of a positive relationship between interest in learning with student learning outcomes in the field of study SMAW Class XI Welding Engineering students of SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra 2018/2019 learning year. This gives the meaning of the higher interest in learning, the higher learning outcomes of SMAW learning outcomes.

Abstract

Low hydrogen electrode known as lime type, due lime ferritic or lime flourspar countain. This electrode produce low hydrogen weld metal, which can dissolve weld metal from embrittlement and or cracking, the coating developed to contain low amount of moisture so storage handling should be carefully, unused electrode must rebaked at temperatures between 260-425ºC for 2-6 hours. This research purpose to know imfluence of toughness welding result by using baked low hydrogen electrode on low carbon steel. This research using experimental method, 12 speciment divided into 4 groups specimen, specimen A welded by using electrode without baking process, specimen B welded by using baked electrode at 260ºC, specimen C welded by using baked electrode at 343ºC and spesimen D welded by using baked electrode at 435ºC. After the test obtained the average potential energy amount 65,8107 Nm and average impact amont 0,81539x106 N/m from spesimen A, spesimen B obtain average potential energy amount 81,9396 Nm and average impact amount 1,00251x106 N/m, spesimen C obtain average potential energy amount 126,3913 Nm and average impact amount 1,56703x106 N/m, and spesimen D obtain average potential energy amount 92,5795 Nm and average impact amount 1,13445x106 N/m. The most tough specimen in C group, with average potential energy amount 126,3913 Nm and average impact amount 1,56703x106 N/m.

Abstract

Tujuan pelaksanaan pengebadian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkakan ekonomi masyarakat petani gambir melalui efesiensi waktu, biaya, dan tenaga yang dibutuhkan dalam pengolahan getah gambir. Inovasi yang ditawarkan berada pada proses pencetakan getah gambir. Permasalahan mendasar masyarakat pada proses ini berada pada waktu dan tenaga yang dibutuhkan dalam proses pencetakan getah sehingga harus membayar upah tenaga kerja untuk proses pencetakan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini dengan memberikan teori pengantar, demonstrasi, praktek dan aplikatifnya secara langsung. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adanya alat pencetak getah gambir dengan mekanisme impact yang menjadikan proses pencetakan lebih cepat, mudah dan efisien. Alat pencetak telah diserah terima dengan masyarakat petani gambir melalui pemerintah kenagarian.

Abstract

Permasalahan pertama yang di alami peternak ikan adalah mahalnya pembelian bahan pembuatan pelet ikan. Sehingga hal ini mengakibatkan menurunnya pendapatan para peternak ikan. Bahan-bahan pembuatan pelet adalah Tepung Teri, Tepung Udang, Dedak Halus, Tepung Jagung daun pepaya, daun singkong dan lain-lain. Kegiatan pelaksanaan ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan mesin pencacah pakan ternak (pelet ikan) dalam meningkatkan efisiensi kinerja peternak ikan dalam pembuatan. Mesin pencacah pakan ternak (pelet ikan) memiliki salah satu mesin yang berguna untuk pencacah/perajang bahan pembuatan pelet, seperti daun singkong, daun pepaya dan lain-lain. Teknik yang digunakan adalah pengembangan teknologi tepat guna. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengembangan teknologi tepat guna. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dimulai merancang mesin pencacah bahan pembuatan pelet, pembuatan mesin, memberikan teori kepada peternak ikan tentang tentang bahan dan teknik pembuatan pelet, serta polatihan mengoperasian mesin pencacah bahan pembuatan pelet ikan. Hasil yang dicapai dalam program ini adalah tersedianya mesin pencacah pakan ternak (pelet ikan). serta dari program ini adalah peningkatan pemahaman dan informasi tentang mesin pencacah pakan ternak (pelet ikan). serta meningkatkan taraf  kehidupan kelompok masyarakat Kanagarian Padang Belimbing, Kecamatan X Koto Singkarak, Kabupaten Solok, Sumatera Barat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the type of air cooling media, soluble oil, and air to the result on lathe ST 37 steel. The cooling medium is very important to maintain boring tool deformation and can add product quality. In the process lathe of friction between the workpiece and chisel cut that can produce overheating and influence on the result of the slice boring tool on the workpiece. The research that will be carried out is experimental research with variables that are controlled that is feeding, deep of a cut, and spindle rotation and examination of the hardness of the specimen on the object before done lathe. The sample in this study which is ST 37 steel with diameter 25 mm and length 60 mm as many as 9 specimens which will be done lathe with different type media kind inprocess working. To know influence the type of cooling medium against steel ST 37 is done brinnel hardeness test using test equipment hardness tester. Of the 9 specimens lathe will be determined 3 points to do hardeness tests. From the result of hardness test and analysis obtained from hardness test on steel ST 37 average data that is use of soluble refrigerant media that produce a very good cooling at the time of the lathe process. The results of research is obtained that the use of soluble refrigerant media is the best with an average hardness of 224.10 kg / mm². On the lathe process, the cooling media has oil content will be able to maintain the scores hardness and time-worn on boring tool. Thus to maintain the hardness values can be used soluble oil cooling media and to increase the hardness values of workpieces can be used air cooling media.

Abstract

Welding can be interpreted by the process of joining two metals to the molten metal point. Metal low carbon steel which is easily processed by welding techniques. Strong setting of the welding current will affect the weld. If the current used is too low it will cause the difficulty of igniting the electric arc. Conversely, if the welding current is too high, the electrode will melt too fast. The welding current strength 130A corresponds to the diameter of the 3.2 mm electrode. The purpose of the research was to determine whether or not the influence of welding current on the low carbon steel hardness of SMAW welding results with E7018 electrode. This type of research was carried out by the type of experimental research, the research process was carried out by hardness testing, and the data obtained through the results of hardness testing was followed by observation and analysis of specimens of low carbon steel ST 37 welded by SMAW with different current strength using E-7018 electrode. Low carbon steel specimens from SMAW welding with 130 A welding current using E-7018 electrode have a higher hardness value compared to low carbon steel specimens produced by SMAW with welding current strengths of 100A and 160A using E-7018 electrodes.

Abstract

The problems that exist in the former group are the process of knowing the results of processing gambir sap is still done manually. To print 20 kg of gambier sap, it takes about 5 to 8 hours. Through this service activity, the team wanted to overcome the problem by providing a sap gambir. The purpose of implementing this service activity is to provide a solution to the problems faced by gambier farmers in the process of printing sap gambir. The method of applying science and technology carried out in this activity is to provide introductory theories, demonstrations, and practices. The introductory theory is applicable, namely the introduction of tools, how to use them, their functions and application applications in the field. The realization of the service to the community of Kenagarian Lampanjang Sutera Pesisir Selatan Subdistrict was held on October 6, 2018. The tool that was handed over to the community of Kenagarian Lampanjang Kecamatan Sutera was a unit of a parallel cylinder printer. Application of appropriate technology that is applied to processing gambir leaves must be adjusted to the productivity of printed sap gambir. The amount of gambir sap obtained by gambir farmers will adjust the capacity of the gambir sap. The tool devoted to the community has cylindrical media made with wood media with a thickness of 70 m. The mould cylinder will print the sap of gambir according to the size sold on the market and have a gum pushing media from the mould which serves to release the sap that is in the cylinder mould. This driving media is also made using wood.

Abstract

The Hipgampra farmer group has Gambir farming land. The problems that occur in this farmer group have not had a press tool, usually, this farmer group rents gambir leaf processing equipment privately and must pay rent wages which are worth one-third of the proceeds of the sale. Through this service activity, the team wanted to overcome the problem by giving a press tool to process gambir leaves. The purpose of the implementation of this service activity is to provide a solution to the problems faced by gambier women in the process of pressing gambier leaves. The method of applying science and technology carried out in this activity is to provide introductory theories, demonstrations, and practices. The introductory theory is applicable, namely the introduction of tools, how to use them, their functions and application applications in the field. The realization of service to the community of Kenagarian Lampanjang Sutera Pesisir Selatan Subdistrict was held on October 6, 2018. The equipment that was handed over to the community of Kenagarian Lampanjang Subdistrict, Sutera in the form of a unit of a Gambir leaf impact system. Application of appropriate technology that is applied to gambir leaf processing must be adjusted to the productivity of harvested gambier leaves. The number of gambir leaves that can be harvested by gambier farmers will adjust the capacity of the gambir leaf press to be processed. The tool that is devoted to the community has a forging foundation that functions as a place for gambir leaves to be pressed and has a jack stand that will press the gambir leaves to the foundation so that the sap of gambier will come out.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the performance of pico hydro scale cross flow water turbines using multilevel double penstock as a conductor of water flow. Multilevel double penstock is used to reduce the transportation process from highways that are affordable to four-wheeled vehicles / cars to the location of the installation of the turbine. This condition causes the need for small-scale water turbine designs with lightweight construction with a kock down system. Overall the picohidro scale turbine construction is needed relatively cheaper transportation costs, so that people who have not been reached by the PLN network can be touched by small and cheap electricity. Turbine construction data has a runner diameter of 170 mm, body dimensions 200 mm x 300 mm x 250 mm, frame 250 mm x 800 mm. Pool tando 600 mm x 1200 mm and penstock length 16m. The power produced is theoretically around 2500 watts, with a data flow of 50 liters / second and a water level of 8 m. 65% efficiency. The research method is analyzing the double penstock water flow, by making paralon pipes in stages, ranging from 5 incci diameter, 4 inches and 3 inches, flow analysis approach using a gradient line, where the incoming water velocity and water velocity come out until entering the transmitting pipe. The performance results of this turbine provide an average actual power of up to 2000 watts. The stability of the inlet water condition is used by the Tando pond as a water bath. If there is excess water in the sediment tank, the water gate is used out, where excess water will automatically flow into the exhaust channel.

Abstract

The strength of the welding result is strongly influenced by several factors, one of which is the selection of high current. This study aims to determine the effect of high current of welding on the strength of low carbon steel welding joints. The process of welding the material uses the open V seam connection type. The variations of the high current used were 80 A, 100 A and 130 A. The specimen used was a carbon steel plate with code of 1.0038 with thickness of 8 mm and the electrode used was the E7018 electrode with diameter of 3.2 mm. The strength of the welding results is influenced by arc voltage, amount of current, welding speed, amount of penetration and electric polarity. Determination of the amount of current in metal joints using arc welding affects the work efficiency and welding materials. Based on the research, it was found that welding using high current of 100 ampere produced the highest tensile strength value of all test specimens that were given welding treatment and good penetration results.
