Abstract

The purpose of the research and development is to produce teaching materials such as textbooks supporting course in Reproduction Physiology research based on the toxicity analysis for students whotake a course in Reproduction Physiology. This research is a research and development, where theresults of research become the teaching materials developed supporting Reproduction Physiologycourse. Development models have prepared using ADDIE Model. Sources of data in this researchinclude laboratory research and validation of the results sheet of Biotechnology material experts,instructional design experts, the media, and the trials in students. The analysis is used quantitative andqualitative.The results of the research have developed become teaching materials like text bookssupporting courses and have been validated by the Reproduction Physiology, the ReproductionPhysiology material experts, instructional design experts, the media, the individual testing, and grouptrials. Based on the results of the validation material have obtained value of 95%, the results of thedesign validation and media experts to get the value of 93.75%, it means that the teaching materials hasbeen developed which suitable to be used as a teaching material support biotechnology course. Whilethe experiments performed to get a data the percentage of students that are equal to 88,25 % andincluded in the category of “very good”, but still need to be revised based on advices and commentsfrom students.Keywords: Development, Instructional Material, ADDIE

Abstract

Metacognitive skill is an important aspect that must be developed and empowered in learning activities because it helps the development of thinking skills as well as its implications on students’ cognitive abilities. Therefore, the learning process should be designed to empowered metacognitive skills. This is a correlational study which aims to find (1) the relationship of metacognitive skills with cognitive abilities of Biology, and (2) the contribution of metacognitive skills on cognitive abilities of Biology on the application of the GI, TTW and GITTW strategies. The population of this study is Muhammadiyah high school students of grade 10th at Surabaya in the 1st academic year 2014/2015 in the science major. Samples were students of grade 10th which consists of six classes determined by random sampling. Data had been collected by conducting pre-test and posttest during the learning process for one semester. Learning instruments used in this study are syllabus, lesson plan (RPP), and students’ worksheet (LKS). All learning devices are using GI, TTW and GITTW strategies. The forms of instruments used are an essay test and cognitive skills rubrics. Metacognitive skills had been measured by metacognitive rubric integrated with cognitive ability test. Data was analysed by correlation and regression techniques. The results of the study showed that there were a significant correlation between metacognitive skills with cognitive abilities of Biology in GI strategy with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.906, the TTW strategies correlation coefficient (r) of 0.951 and the strategies GITTW correlation coefficient (r) of 0.881. Metacognitive skill level of contribution to the cognitive abilities of Biology at GI strategy is 82%, the TTW strategy is 90.5%, and the GITTW strategy is 77.7%.

Abstract

This ethnobotany study of Kelakai (Stenochlaena palustris) analyzes the aspect of the relationship between plant and people, especially about the indigenous knowledge such as the benefit and how the use of this endemic fern. Methods included participant observation and semi structured interviews with a total of one hundred and ten participants were conducted in Palangkaraya, at Central of Kalimantan. The result shows that the Dayak ethnic society in Palangkaraya believe that Kelakai (Stenochlaena palustris) useful to increase milk production, increase hemoglobin, and as anti aging. Consequently, identifying this endemic fern’s benefit can help to preserve the local wisdom of Dayak ethnic group and natural plant conservation. Keywords: Central of Kalimantan; endemic fern; ethnobotany; Stenochlaena palustris

Abstract

Wadi is a sort of the local wisdom of Dayak ethnic at Central Borneo as the effort of food warranty when fish could be found easily or when others  sources of protein, i.e.meat is difficult to be found. Wadi is a fermentation food made from fish or meat processed traditionally by mixing the fish or the meat with salt and “lumu” (fried rice without oil),  then preserved for several days until a special aroma and taste were formed,with salty and acid taste with strong aroma. The changes of the taste and aroma of the wadi is caused by fermentation process  formed during the preservation. The effort to create the wadi as a local wisdom is need to be continued.Keywords: food warranty; local wisdom; traditional food Wadi

Abstract

 The development of learning tools for Environmental Education to develop students environmental literacy skills are indispensable. Methods of research and development using 4-D Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). The result of the development of the device include syllabi, lesson plans, modules, and assessment instruments tested in class IV A Lesson Study by performing well. The trial results actually (validation testing) with pre-experiment (class IV B) can improve the literacy skills of students include aspects of environmental knowledge, attitudes, and skills and habituation. The trial results actually (class IV B) obtained N-Score Gain knowledge and attitude tests of 0.64 (medium), and N-Gain Score of the attitude scale questionnaire 0.67 (moderate). While aspects of the students skills include practical activities seed, move into the growing medium, and the practice of making compost with N-Gain Score of 0.54 (medium) and 0.69 (moderate). Activity habituation maintain plants and credible form of checks compost with N-Gain Score of 0.48 (moderate). The results of research and development is expected to be utilized by the school and can be distributed to other schools.

Abstract

Development of animal ecology module with a material of macrozoobenthos community in higher education aimed to develop teaching materials based on the needs of students of Biology Education. The study was conducted from January to March 2014. This research is a development research of module material. Module development is based on study results at the stage of Structure of Macrozoobenthos Community in the Mangrove area of Bukit Batu Beach of Bengkalis Regency. Research and development of animal ecology module are conducted by following 4D model steps. The results of module material development of macrozoobenthos community are used as teaching materials of animal ecology at Biology Education Dept., FTTE- Islamic University of Riau. Results of animal ecology module development obtained was based on expert validation of animal ecology material expert, teaching material, and field practitioners which amounted to 92.59%, 94.86%, and 92.4%, respectively with qualification of excellent and unnecessary to be revised. A test result of small group which was conducted by 30 respondents of students of Biology education, FTTE- Islamic University of Riau amounted to 78.4% with qualification of good and unnecessary to be revised. Module of animal ecology can be used as proper teaching materials by Biology Education student.

Abstract

The results of biology learning observation show that there are many constraints during the learning process in the class and consultation meeting between teacher and students. The think-pair-share-write based on hybrid learning was conducted to analyze the effect on metacognitive skills, creative thinking and learning outcomes. The research design was quasi experiment with pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The independent variable is think-pair-share-write based on Hybrid learning model, while the dependent variables are metacognitive skills, creative thinking, and cognitive learning outcomes. Metacognitive skills are measured by using metacognitive rubrics. Creative thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes are measured by using a description test. The data were taken by conducting pretest and posttest. The hypothesis test used was anakova with level of significance 0,05 (P <0,05), as the test result was significant then the test was continued to LSD. Before the anakova test, normality and homogeneity test were performed. The results showed that think-pair-share-write based on Hybrid Learning significantly affecting: 1) the metacognitive skills with F arithmetic of 183,472 and Sig. 0,000; 2) the creative thinking skill with F value of 325,111 and Sig. 0,000; 3) the cognitive learning outcomes with F arithmetic of 175.068 and Sig. 0,000.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the perception of lecturers of Biology Education Program on the integration of scientific literacy on curriculum design. The data were collected by questionnaire consisting of four dimensions: (1) curriculum component, (2) development of teaching staff, (3) curriculum development and evaluation, and (4) resources. The results show that scientific literature is integrated in the curriculum component but the lecturer considers science as simply the material being taught. In addition training, access to aid, and awards for teachers who undertake scientific literacy learning are lacking. For lecturers, the availability of standard instruments and the regularity of curriculum evaluation also need to be accommodated.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi dosen prodi Pendidikan Biologi mengenai integrasi literasi saintifik pada desain kurikulum. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner yang terdiri dari empat dimensi yakni (1) komponen kurikulum, (2) pengembangan tenaga pengajar, (3) pengembangan dan evaluasi kurikulum, dan (4) sumber daya. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa literasi saintifik terintegrasi dalam komponen kurikulum namun dosen menganggap sains sekedar materi yang diajarkan. Selain itu, pelatihan, akses bantuan, dan penghargaan bagi pengajar yang melakukan pembelajaran literasi saintifik masih kurang. Bagi dosen, ketersediaan instrumen baku dan keteraturan evaluasi kurikulum juga perlu untuk diakomodasi.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir analitis merupakan kemampuan yang harus dikuasai mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan masalah dalam biologi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir analitis mahasiswa. Sejumlah 38 mahasiswa yang telah menempuh mata kuliah biologi umum menjadi subyek penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berupa tes tipe uraian yang mengacu pada keterampilan berpikir analisis yang terdiri dari membedakan (differentiating), mengorganisasi (organizing), dan menghubungkan (attributing) masing-masing indikator 3 soal. Berdasarkan analisis data dideskripsikan kemampuan analisis mahasiswa pada t indikator membedakan 3,01 (baik), mengorganisasikan 2,93 (baik), dan menghubungkan 2,47 (kurang baik). Indikator menghubungkan perlu mendapatkan perhatian lebih.Kata Kunci: keterampilan berpikir analitis, profil, dan biologi umum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan SMA di Kota Malang terhadap perangkat pembelajaran Biologi yang terintegrasi Eco Mapping. EMaS (Eco Mapping at School) adalah bentuk inisiatif sekolah berwawasan lingkungan melalui pemetaan lingkungan sekolah guna mendukung siswa menjadi kreatif, berpikir kritis, serta memiliki wawasan dan pemahaman global sebagai bekal kecakapan menghadapi abad 21. SMAN 2, SMAN 7 dan SMAN 8 Kota Malang merupakan sekolah piloting Eco Mapping kerjasama Kementrian Lingkungan Hidup, Kementrian Pendidikan dan GIZ Jerman. Pada tahun 2014, Eco Mapping tersebut diadaptasi oleh Dinas Pendidikan Kota Malang bekerjasama dengan Radar Malang dalam program Green School Festival (GSF). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan instrumen berupa angket yang diisi oleh guru-guru biologi anggota MGMP Kota Malang. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dalam bentuk persentase.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 88,9% responden menjawab bahwa Eco Mapping penting dan bermanfaat bagi sekolah, tetapi baru 11,1% guru Biologi di SMA Negeri se-Kota Malang yang mengintegrasikan Eco Mapping ke dalam perangkat pembelajarannya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa perlu adanya pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran terintegrasi Eco Mapping at School untuk menunjang pembelajaran biologi di Kota Malang.Kata kunci: perangkat pembelajaran, biologi, dan eco mappingThis study aims to analyze the needs of a Biology learning tool integrated with Eco Mapping in State Senior High School (SHS) in Malang city. EMaS (Eco Mapping at School) is an initiative form of environmental school through school environment mapping to strengthen students? creativity, critical thinking, and understanding as a preparation for the 21st century. SHS 2, SHS 7 and SHS 8 are piloting schools of Eco Mapping cooperating with the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and GIZ Germany. In 2014, Eco Mapping was adapted by the Education Office of Malang city in cooperation with Radar Malang actualized in the Green School Festival (GSF) program. The data were collected using questionnaires filled by biology teachers of MGMP members of Malang city. Quantitative data analysis was employed to describe the data. The results showed that 88,9% biology teachers agreed that Eco Mapping is important and benefits for schools. However, just 11,1% of those have integrated Eco Mapping into their learning tools. Overall, there are needs to develop learning tools integrated with the Eco Mapping at School to support Biology learning in Malang city.Keywords:  learning tools, biology, and eco mapping
