Abstract

The aim of the activity is to increase the competence of teachers and students by training Arduino-based practice modules in the implementation of digital and communication systems that have multi-input and multi-output devices. Partner problems are industry technology 4.0 and teacher competence. Industry 4.0 technology issues are implemented in practical training modules that are useful as learning media that can be implemented for various applications. The problem of teacher competence with training and development of learning media so as to be able to create and innovate in digital and communication systems. The method used in this activity is discussion, explanation, demonstration, exercise, and observation. The results of this activity increase the competence and knowledge of vocational schools by marked the participants are able to operate and implement modules.

Abstract

The greater the demands to make graduates with adequate skills, qualified instructors need to be prepared, as well as possessing good skills. One of the skills that need to be possessed by vocational school teachers in the fields of electricity, electricity and automation is mechatronics. Based on needs analysis and discussion with partners, 3 (three) main problems were identified, namely: (1) Teachers still often use the lecture method, so students become passive and result in low student competency in mechatronic subjects. (2) The condition of school facilities and infrastructure is still inadequate resulting in reduced interest and motivation of students in participating in learning. (3) The use of mechatronics learning media by teachers is less than optimal resulting in students' creativity in solving problems not appearing. The survey results of this community service implementation team found that Balikpapan vocational school teachers in engineering require mechatronics skills in using the Programable Logic Controller (PLC) related to making models, designing programs and programming them according to the needs of the teaching and learning process to anticipate technological progress in the field of control . Based on the problem, a Mechatronics Competency Enhancement training for Balikpapan Vocational Students was held, regarding PLC skills. The results of the activities carried out can be drawn several conclusions, among them (1) community service activities carried out in the form of Programable Logic Controller (PLC) skills training to be able to make models, design programs and program their own PLCs according to the learning process needs, (2) This activity was carried out on July 25-27 2019 with representatives from 5 Vocational High Schools in the city of Balikpapan. Abstract

 Sistem keamanan yang bertujuan sebagai sistem monitoring pada smart home seperti memonitoring pengguna laboratorium, perpustakaan, atau ruangan penyimpanan dan peminjaman peralatan praktek di program studi suatu kampus, ruang penyimpanan senjata, hingga rumah tinggal, memerlukan sekuritas yang handal untuk memudahkan identifikasi pengguna ruangan atau pencegahan dari tindak pencurian, maka dirancang sistem monitoring melalui pengenalan citra sidik jari menggunakan sensor ZFM60, jaringan syaraf tiruan dan MySQL. Tujuannya agar di dapat pola yang relevan dari citra dan mengeliminasi informasi atau variabel yang tidak relevan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu experimental, terdiri dari pengumpulan data sidik jari, perancangan sistem pengolahan citra, pembuatan dan pengujian hardware dan software, serta implementasi sistem. Hasil proses pengenalan atau klarifikasi citra sidik jari melalui GUI Matlab, nilai error hasil pengolahan dan pelatihan citra sidik jari dengan jaringan syaraf tiruan, digunakan sebagai ciri citra dan disimpan sebagai data base pada MySQL, kemudian dibandingkan dengan nilai error citra sidik jari baru yang di klarifikasi. Nilai citra yang dapat dikenali berada diantara -0,0005 hingga 0,0005, diluar batas tersebut merupakan citra yang tidak dikenali. Selisih (nilai error) antara ciri citra yang tersimpan pada data base dan ciri citra yang diklarifikasi menghasilkan nilai error yang kecil yaitu < 0.0005, menunjukkan jaringan syaraf tiruan backpropagation handal diimplementasikan pada pengenalan sidik jari untuk melatih pola citra dari sidik jari. Konfigurasi jaringan yaitu maksimal epoch = 3000, learning rate = 1, target error = 0.1, hidden layer = 17. Pelatihan jaringan syaraf tiruan pada konfigurasi tersebut menghasilkan nilai error terkecil dari ciri citra sebesar 0.0000085. Abstract The security system that aims as a monitoring system in smart home such as monitoring laboratory users, libraries, or storage rooms and borrowing practical equipment in the study program of a campus, weapons storage room, to a residence, requires reliable securities to facilitate identification of room users or prevention from theft, it is designed a monitoring system through fingerprint image recognition using ZFM60 sensors, artificial neural networks and MySQL. The goal is to get relevant patterns from the image and eliminate irrelevant information or variables. The method used is experimental, consisting of fingerprint data collection, image processing system design, hardware and software manufacturing and testing, and system implementation. The result of the process of recognition or clarification of fingerprint images through the Matlab GUI, the error value of processing and training of fingerprint images with artificial neural networks, is used as a feature of the image and stored as a data base on MySQL, then compared with the error value of the new fingerprint image that is clarified. The recognizable image value is between -0,0005 to 0,0005, beyond this limit is an unrecognized image. The difference (error value) between the characteristics of the image stored in the data base and the clarified image feature produces a small error value of <0.0005, indicating a reliable backpropagation artificial neural network is implemented in fingerprint recognition to train the image pattern of fingerprints. Network configuration is maximum epoch = 3000, learning rate = 1, target error = 0.1, hidden layer = 17. Artificial neural network training in the configuration produces the smallest error value of the image characteristics of 0.0000085.

Abstract

This study is aimed to determine the effect of post-treatment plasma CVD on diamond-like carbon films of surface hardness AISI 410 steel. Enhancement of surface hardness on AISI 410 can be done with deposition thin layer by plasma CVD, and continued by post-treatment plasma CVD. Mixture of Ar (90%) with CH4 (10%), and He (76%) with CH4 (24%) are used as thin layer material. Deposition parameter of pressure, temperature, and time that been used are 1.6 mbar, 300 °C, and 4 hours, respectively. Furthermore, post-treatment process parameter is used by Ar gas, with pressure of 1 mbar, temperature 300 °C, and variation time of 10, 20, 30 minutes. Surface hardness test is used by Vickers microhardness tester. Cross-section microstructure and chemical compositions are examined by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy. Based on surface hardness test, the surface hardness on AISI 410 is increased by post-treatment process. The surface hardness from 232.3 VHN increase to 301.2 VHN is produced by post-treatment of compound Ar-CH4 in 20 minutes. Futhermore, the surface hardness from 1,035.8 VHN increase to 1,743.2 VHN is produced by post-treatment of compound He-CH4 in 30 minutes.
