International Community Service Program Model for Teacher Prospective Students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang Mustakim Mustakim; Sukree Doloh; Yunus Busa

Abstract

The research aimed to describe the implementation of the International Community Service Program which has been done at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang. Specifically the research seeked to uncover: (1) The implementation of International Community Service Program which has been carried out so far; (2) The effectiveness of implementation International Community Service Program was seen from the responses of the stake holders and participants; and, (3) International Community Service Program model formulation for prospective teachers in Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang. For achieving these objectives, exploratory studies were carried out with an approach descriptive qualitative. The research involved STKIP Muhammadiyah Enrekang where stakeholders were the main respondents. Information in the field was explored using interview, analysis techniques documents, and questionnaire distribution. After the data was collected and processed. The research concludes as follows: (1) International Community Service Program is a program which important, therefore; even really needs to be done; and (2) International Community Service Program for prospective teachers in Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang based on the needs analysis in the field has unique characteristics of aspects: (a) duration of implementation: (b) destination country; (c) the amount of the fee needed; (d) the frequency of monitoring needed; (e) participants who involved; (f) parties involved, (f) activity management team, and (g) material required activities. Research recommends things following: (1) analyzing field requirements before the International Community Service Program implemented, (2) doing careful preparation, (c) doing reflection at each stage of implementation.

Abstract

Non-formal education has its own advantages in its role which contributes to overcoming unemployment and poverty alleviation through courses or life skills education. The purpose of this study was to determine how the effectiveness of the implementation of the sewing course at the Enrekang Learning Activities Studio in the input, process and output.The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach, namely by viewing the object of study as a system, meaning that the object of study is seen as a unit consisting of interrelated elements and describing the phenomena that exist with a population of 20 and the research sample is the whole of the population .The results showed that the effectiveness of the sewing course implementation in the Enrekang learning center in terms of input can be said to be effective. The effectiveness is seen in terms of the instructor has met the requirements and the instructor has conducted training in accordance with the steps in the implementation of learning, in terms of students, in terms of curriculum or teaching material, in terms of facilities and targets of learning activities is very adequate, as well as the evaluation and supervision aspects carried out by the manager of the Enrekang District Learning Activities Studio, the effectiveness of the sewing course implementation in the Enrekang district learning activities center in terms of the process can be said to be effective

Abstract

Abstract: Parental involvement in fostering the character of child discipline in school. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to explore the role that parents play in improving the character of children’s discipline in school. Methods: The study population consisted of 7 elementary schools with a target sample consisting of 8 school personnel and 27 parents. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews to be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Findings: The most common problem at school is the dynamics of child discipline. The discipline of parents in their children’s education can improve discipline, self-esteem, cognitive development, social interaction skills, and academics as a whole. The role of parents in encouraging student discipline, it is clear that parents must be involved as shown by most respondents (66.67% of parents and 62.50% of teachers). Conclusions: Designing interventions aimed at harmonizing parental and teacher assessments in certain activities related to primary school education will be beneficial in fostering child disciplinecharacter education. The results of this study also have implications for child care and protection.Keywords: Parental involvement, school personnel, children’ discipline.Abstrak: Keterlibatan orang tua dalam menumbuhkan karakter disiplin anak di sekolah. Tujuan: Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengeksplorasi peran  orang tua dalam meningkatkan karakter disiplin anak di sekolah. Metode: Populasi penelitian terdiri dari 7 sekolah dasar dengan 8 personil sekolah dan 27 orang tua sebagai sampel. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara untuk dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Temuan: Masalah yang paling umum di sekolah adalah dinamika disiplin anak. Keterlibatan orang tua meningkatkan disiplin, harga diri, perkembangan kognitif, keterampilan interaksi sosial, dan akademisi bagi anak secara keseluruhan. Sebagian besar responden (66,67% orang tua dan 62,50% guru) sepakat bahwa orang tua harus dilibatkan. Kesimpulan: Perancangan intervensi untuk menyelaraskan penilaian orang tua dan guru pada kegiatan tertentu yang terkait dengan pendidikan siswa sekolah dasar akan bermanfaat dalam menumbuhkan pendidikan karakter disiplin anak.Kata kunci: Peranan orang tua, personil sekolah, disiplin anak-anak. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v8.i2.201807
