Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti: i) peningkatan kemampuan menulis teks deskriptif siswa melalui penerapan teknik Think-Talk-Write dan ii) aspek menulis yang paling meningkat. Penelitian ini adalah kuasi-eksperimental dengan one-group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X IPA 6 di SMA Al Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung yang terdiri atas 34 siswa. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui pre test dan post test. Kemudian, data tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan Paired Sample T-test. Nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh dalam pre test adalah 54.83 dan nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh dalam post test adalah 64.95. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian murid terhadap skill menulis deskriptif text meningkat secara statistik dengan level signifikansi 0.05. Ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik Think-Talk-Write membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa.   This research was aimed at investigating: i) the students’ improvement on writing descriptive text after the students were taught through Think-Talk-Write technique and ii) the aspect of writing improves the most. This study was quasi-experimental research with one-group pretest-posttest design of pre-experimental design. The subject of this research was class X IPA 6 of SMA Al Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung consisting of 34 students. The data were obtained from the pre test and post test. Then, the data were analyzed by using Paired Sample T-test. The average score of the pre-test was 54.83 and the average score of the post-test was 64.95. The results showed that the students’ achievement on writing descriptive text statistically increased with the significant level 0.05. Abstract

 Abstract: The major objective of this research was to find out whether or not scanning technique could be used to develop students’ reading comprehension achievement significantly. The students were given four treatments. As the instrument of the research, reading test comprising of multiple choice test that were administered in both pretest and posttest.The data was computed using SPSS version 15.0 at the level significant .05. According to the calculation of t-test, the result shows that there is significant increase on students’ reading comprehension after being taught through scanning technique (p.05, p=.000) which can be seen from the mean score of pretest 46.27 and that of post test 66.67 with the increase 20.40. It indicates that scanning technique is effective to increase the students’ reading comprehension achievement. In conclusion, the students’ reading skill especially in identifying the specific information increases through scanning technique as the technique in teaching reading comprehension. Besides, the students in the class seemed to be more active and more attentive in the process of teaching learning by using scanning technique.  Keywords: identifying specific information, one group pretest posttest design, scanning technique,

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan picture series untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa dalam procedure text di kelas tiga SMPN 1 Gadingrejo dan aspek yang paling meningkat. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas IX.5 dengan jumlah siswa 30 orang. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest. Kemampuan berbicara siswa akan diberi nilai berdasarkan aspek micro skill yaitu pronunciation, vocabulary, dan grammar kemudian dianalisa dan dihitung dengan menggunakan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata dari pretest dan posttest meningkat dengan signifikan dari 47,47 ke 62,93 dan level signifikansi 0,00 (0,05). Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa vocabulary adalah aspek yang paling meningkat dengan peningkatan sebesar 7,10. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa picture series dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran berbicara, khususnya procedure text.. Untuk penelitian mendatang disarankan untuk fokus ke aspek macro skill. This research was aimed at investigating the use of picture series to increase students’ speaking ability in procedure text at the third grade of SMPN 1 Gadingrejo and what the most increasing aspect is. The subject of this research was class IX.5 with 30 students. This was quantitative research with one group pretest-posttest design. Students’ speaking were given score based on micro skill aspects they are pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar then analyzed and computed by using SPSS. The result showed that the mean score from pretest and posttest increased significantly from 47.47 to 62.93 and the significant 2-tailed was 0.00 (0.05). The result also showed that vocabulary is the most increasing aspect with the increase about 7/10. It could be concluded that picture series is able to be used as a learning media for speaking, especially for procedure text. For the further research is suggested to focus on speaking macro skill aspects.Keywords: picture series, procedure text, speaking ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kegunaan teknik Information Gap dalam peningkatan kemampuan berbicara siswa terkait aspek pronunciation, vocabulary dan grammar dilihat dari analisa quantity of speaking dan quality of speaking. Adapun sampel yang diteliti pada penelitian ini adalah 27 siswa kelas 8L SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah metode quasi-experimental design yang berhubungan dengan pengukuran periodik. Alat pengumpulan datanya adalah tes berbicara (speaking test). Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya perbedaaan peningkatan kemampuan berbicara siswa dalam aspek pronunciation, vocabulary dan grammar dalam aplikasi teknik Information Gap.The objective of this study was to find out the application of Information Gap technique in improving students speaking skill especially in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar from the analysis of quantity and quality of speaking. The sample of this study was 27 students of 8L SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung academic year of 2014/2015. This study used quasi-experimental design involving periodic measurements. The instrument of this study was speaking task. The result showed that there was a difference in students speaking skill especially in term of pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar through speaking task in the aplication of Information Gap technique.Keywords: information gap technique, speaking skill

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pencapaian berbicara siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan authentic dan non authentic material. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas XI SMAN. Hasil pre-test di kelas authentic material adalah 60.5, sedangkan di kelas non authentic material adalah 70.45. Hasil post-test di kelas authentic material adalah 78.2, sedangkan di kelas non authentic material adalah 79.38. Ini berarti bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan setelah kedua media diberikan. Total nilai dalam semua aspek berbicara di kelas authentic material adalah 17.7 poin, sedangkan di kelas non authentic material adalah 8.93. Ada perbedaan yang signifikan di semua aspek berbicara antara media authentic material dan media non Authentic material. The objectives of this research were to find out whether there was significant differences in students speaking achievement who were taught by using authentic and non authentic material and to find out whether there was aspect of two media mostly affect. The research was conducted at the eleventh grade of SMAN. The result of pre-test in authentic material class was 60.5, while in non authentic material class was 70.45. The result of post-test in authentic material class was 78.2, while in non authentic material class was 79.38. It means that there was significant difference after treatments were given. The total gain in all aspects of speaking of authentic material was 17.7 points, while in non authentic material was 8.93. It means that there was significant difference in all aspects of speaking between authentic material and non authentic material media. Abstract

Tentunya, belajar keterampilan berbicara dalam bahasa inggris merupakan hal yang kompleks. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik pada kemampuan berbicara siswa antara pre-test dan post-test setelah diajar melalui jigsaw teknik pada cerita naratif dan untuk mengetahui aspek berbicara apa yang meningkat secara statistik. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 15 siswa SMA Negeri 11 Bandar Lampung. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik antara pre-test dan post-test, dengan nilai signifikan kurang dari 0.05. Ini membuktikan bahwa tehnik Jigsaw mampu memfasilitasi siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara mereka.For Indonesian learners, learning to speak English appropriately is naturally a complex matter. Therefore, the objective of this research was to find out whether there is a statistically significant difference of the students’ speaking performance between the pretest and the postest in the implementation of the jigsaw technique on a narrative story and to find out what aspect of speaking statistically improve. The subjects were 15 students of Senior High School 11 Bandar Lampung. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test, the significant value was less than 0.05. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada i) peningkatan pada kemampuan membaca siswa dalam Teks Naratif setelah diajar dengan menggunakan Picture Series, dan ii) respon siswa terhadap penggunaan Picture Series dalam pembelajaran reading Teks Naratif. One group pretest and posttest design adalah desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pretest, posttest, dan questionnaire. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan membaca siswa setelah diajar menggunakan picture series dengan tingkat significan 0.05. Sehingganya, dapat disarankan bahwa picture series sebagai media memfasilitasi siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pada Teks Naratif.This research was aimed to find out i) whether there was improvement in students’ reading comprehension in narrative text after being taught by using picture series, and ii) students’ responses of picture series in teaching reading narrative texts. One group pretest and posttest design was used in this research. The data were obtained from pre-test, post-test, and questionnaires. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension after after they were taught through picture series with the significant level 0.05.
