Abstract

Paraquat dichloride (1.1'-dimethyl-4.4'-bipyridinium dichloride) was commonly herbicide used by most farmers in Indonesia. It raises herbicide-free radicals and affects male reproductive organs. It caused infertility such as a decrease in the number of spermatogenic cells. Fortunately, red ginger has capable of dealing with infertility problems. This study aims to see whether the ethanol extract of red ginger can increase the number of spermatocyte and spermatid cells induced by paraquat dichloride. This study uses a completely randomized design with 24 male mice were divided into six treatment groups with four replications. Group K as a control (H2O), J (Ginger 18 mg / ml), Pq (Paraquat 20mg / BB), P1 (Pq 20 mg / BB + EEJM 6 mg / ml), P2 (Paraquat 20mg / BB + EEJM 12 mg / ml) and P3 (Paraquat 20mg / BB + EEJM 18 mg / ml). Paraquat is given 2 times a week for 21 days, while the ethanol extract of red ginger added for 35 days. The number of cells spermatocyte and spermatid cells of male mice and performed analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Least Significant Difference Test (BNT) level of 5% observed as the parameter. The results showed that ethanol extract of red ginger 6, 12 and 18 mg/ml increased the number of spermatocyte and spermatid cells of male mice induced by paraquat dichloride.

Abstract

Paraquat is a toxic compound that disrupts biochemical processes in the body, cell death, and multi-organ failure. The liver and lung are the target organ of paraquat toxicity. The body needs antioxidants to counteract free radicals. Red ginger (Zingiber officinale Roxb. Var rubrum) is a spice that contains antioxidants. This study was conducted to determine the effect of ethanol extract of red ginger (Zingiber officinale Roxb. Var rubrum) on liver and lung histology male mice induced by paraquat. The research used completely randomized design and use of 6 treatment groups, i.e. control group (given distilled water and standard feed), PQ group (induced by paraquat 20 mg/kg per BW), group P1 (given paraquat and ethanol extracts of red ginger 200 mg/kg per BW), group P2 (given paraquat and ethanol extract of red ginger 400 mg/kg per BW), group P3 (given paraquat and ethanol extract of red ginger 600 mg/kg per BW), group P4 (given ethanol extract of red ginger extract 600 mg/kg per BW). The data obtained will be tested using One Way ANOVA and continued by Least Significant Difference (LSD) with a 95% confidence level. The results showed ethanol extract of red ginger effective against liver and lung histology male mice induced by paraquat. The results also showed ethanol extract of red ginger with a dose of 400 mg/kg per BW is effective in protecting the liver and lung from damage caused induced by paraquat.

Abstract

The ginger rhizome contains antioxidants and is chemoprotective, therefore we suspect it can decrease the aging rate in the reproductive system. The purpose of this study, to determine the effect of ginger extract (Zingiber officinale) against reproductive aging of male mice (Mus musculus). This study, using 36 male mice (Mus musculus) aged 12-14 months, divided into three groups each 12 tails. Group 1 as controls, groups 2 and 3 were given 50 mg and 100 mg ginger extract / kg of pellets. The pellet is given for 70 days ad libitum. Next, observed the number of spermatogenic cells, as well as the number and quality of spermatozoa. The results showed that ginger extract had an effect on spermatogenic and spermatozoa (P <0,01) cells of mice. The results of preleptotene spermatocyte, pakhiten and spermatid spermatocyte counts were higher, as were the number of spermatozoa, the percentage of viability and motility, and the normal morphology of spermatozoa were more in the group given ginger extract than control (P <0.01). It was concluded that ginger rhizome extract given to mice entering the aging period could inhibit the rate of decline in reproductive function.

Abstract

The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of isoflavone-riched soybean flour with different levels of isoflavone on testosterone level, total Leydig cells, and total spermatogenic cells in the seminiferous tubules of male rats. Diet was given as isonitrogen and isocaloric with 10% of dietary protein from casein. Twenty five male of Sprague Dawley weaning rats (21 days old) were divided into five groups and treated with isoflavone-riched soybean flour by oral administration with different levels (dosages). The treatment was conducted for 2 months. The treatment of isoflavone-riched soybean flour with higher dosage of isoflavone increased the testosterone levels in the serum and the total Leydig cells in the seminiferous tubules of male rats. The optimum dosage of isoflavone was 1.5 mg/day resulted in the highest total spermatogenic cells of rat testes. The treatment isoflavone-riched soybean flour with 1.5 mg isoflavone/day on male rats resulted in the testosteron level of 2.96±0.45 ng/ml, total Leydig cells 70.22±9.34; while the number of spermatogonia, spermatocytes, early spermatids, late spermatids, and total spermatogenic cells were 48.44±4.82, 60.00±3.43, 221.56± 16.12, 164.33±17.94, and 494.33±32.94, respectively.

Abstract

Trenbolon Asetat (TBA, 17 β-hydroxy-estra-4.9,11-triene-3-one-17-acetate) adalah salah satu hormon pemacu pertumbuhan pada sapi yang paling banyak digunakan. Hormon sintetis ini dapat bersifat androgenic yang digunakan untuk hewan ternak agar pertambahan berat badan lebih cepat dan karkas yang dihasilkan juga lebih banyak. Sifat kerjanya adalah sebagai anabolic sehingga membuat metabolismenya lebih cepat. Tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah mendeteksi residu hormone pertumbuhan Trenbolon Asetat pada daging dan hati sapi dengan metode ELISA di Laboratorium Kesehatan Masyarakat Veteriner, Balai Veteriner Lampung. Didapatkan sebanyak 20 sampel dengan 2 sampel diantaranya memberikan hasil nilai limit deteksi kit residu TBA lebih dari 400 ppt secara ELISA RIDASCREEN Trenbolon.

Abstract

Cardiovascular is a disease that often causes death. One of the cardiovascular diseases that often cause death is the risk of Hipertensi. The highest risk factors for premature death and disability in the world are caused by smoking habits, high systolic blood pressure, and increased blood sugar levels. This death factor is because people with Hipertensi generally do not experience any symptoms until their blood pressure is too high which can cause death. Efforts that can be made are by utilizing information technology in the form of a medical expert system to Kelasify the risk of Hipertensi. This study aims to develop a medical expert system in a different way using rule-based weighting methods and profile matching. The weighting method is used to determine the risk weight based on patient variables, while the profile matching method is used to calculate the risk Kelasification based on the core factor and secondary factor variables on the risk of Hipertensi. System evaluation is carried out by comparing asset data taken from the Pima Indian Hipertensi Data (NHANES) with results from the system. The results of the comparison show that the accuracy of the proposed system is 96.67%. The proposed system is also compared with other Kelasification methods such as decision tree, Random Tree, Decision Stump, KNN, Naïve BaYa, Deep Learning, and Rule Induction. Based on the comparison results, the proposed system has a better level of accuracy, therefore the system developed can be used to Kelasify risks for other types of diseases.

Abstract

Rumput teki (Cyperus rotundus L.) adalah tanaman liar yang tumbuh di berbagai tempat. Namun dalam pengobatan tradisional Tiongkok maupun India, keampuhan rumput teki telah lama diakui untuk mengatasi masalah-masalah kewanitaan dalam membantu meringankan ketidakteraturan siklus haid. Tanaman rumput teki diduga memiliki kandungan antiestrogen yang bekerja atau mengantagonis kerja estrogen dengan memodifikasi atau mengantagonis kerja estrogen, termasuk diantaranya adalah tamoxifen. Penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan efek antiestrogen tamoxifen dengan ekstrak umbi teki pada struktur diameter uterus dan lumen uterus mencit betina (Mus musculus L.). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Zoologi Jurusan Biologi Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Lampung. Mencit yang digunakan dikelompokan dalam 3 kelompok dengan 6 kali ulangan, sesuai dengan dosis perlakuan yaitu : Kelompok A : kontrol, diberi aquades. Kelompok B : diberi ekstrak umbi teki dengan dosis 135mg/40grBB. Kelompok C: diberi larutan obat antiestrogen tamoxifen 0,16 mg/40grBB. Adapun parameter yang diamati adalah diameter uterus dan lumen uterus. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Untuk analisis data digunakan uji statistik uji One Way ANOVA dengan α = 0,05 (5%) kemudian dilanjutkan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Dari hasil analisis data didapatkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak umbi teki dan tamoxifen sama-sama menurunkan diameter uterus dan diameter lumen uterus. Hasil uji lanjut dengan BNT α = 5 % menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kontrol dengan ekstrak umbi teki dan tamoxifen pada diameter uterus dan diameter lumen uterus. Namun antara ekstrak umbi teki dan tamoxifen tidak didapatkan perbedaan yang bermakna pada diameter uterus dan diameter lumen uterus.Kata kunci : antiestrogen, diameter uterus, ekstrak umbi teki, , lumen uterus, tamoxifen

Abstract

Menstruasi adalah perdarahan dari uterus sebagai tanda bahwa alat kandungan menjalankan fungsinya.Panjang siklus menstruasi ialah jarak antara tanggal mulainya menstruasi yang lalu danmulainya menstruasi yang baru.Panjang siklus menstruasi yang normal ialah 28 hari.Keadaan status gizi wanita usia subur pada umumnya dipengaruhi oleh pola konsumsi makan, kebanyakan dari mereka konsumsi zat gizinya rendah, hal ini disebabkan oleh keterbatasan makanan atau membatasi sendiri makanannya karena faktor ingin langsing.Jenis penelitian yang di gunakan pada Penelitian ini adalah penelitian survei analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional,untuk mengetahui hubungan status gizi dengan keteratun menstruasi pada mahasiswi di asrama rusunawa unila.Penelitian ini dilakukan di Asrama rusunawa Universitas lampung dan berlangsung pada bulan juli 2017.Hasil penelitian ini sesuai dengan penelitian Novia (2015) di SMKN 4 Yogyakarta menunjukkan bahwa sebagian remaja putri (50%) pada penelitian ini memiliki status gizi tidak normal mulai dari malnutrisi hingga obesitas.Kata kunci: Menstruasi, Status Gizi
