Abstract

Information about potency and utilization of Skipjack Tuna in Bone Bay region will support regionalmanagement of fisheries resources in Indonesiabased on characteristic and carrying capacity of marine waters,espcially in Bay region. The aims of this study were to estimate potency of Skipjack Tuna and the level of theirutilization in Bone Bay region and to estimate the primary productivity produced by euphotic zone (Pp).Analysis methods used in this study were catch per unit effort(CPUE) and maximum sustainable yield (MSY),vertically generalized production model (VGPM) which required data of photosynthetically active radiationanddepth of euphotic zone, fish production model by considering energy transfer efficiency among trophic level.This study was conducted for eight months in Luwu Regency.The result of the study showed that the utilization ofthe Skipjack Tunawas bigger than the MSY,.The Ppeu was in the range of 483.3143to 1306.027 mgC m. Abstract

 Fisheries management requires reliable estimation and can be made as a consequence of the alternatives strategyexploitation, it requires knowledge about the biological condition of the fish stocks at a certain time, one of them is agrouper (Plectropomus leopardus).The aims of this study is to analyze the biological diversity includes the averagetotal length, size structure and weight-length relationship of groupers (Plectropomus leopardus) in SpermondeIslands. The results are expected to provide information on sustainable resource management in SpermondeArchipelago.The study was conducted from July 2013- February 2014 in three locations of Spermondearchipelago,namely Sarappo Island, LumulumuIsland and LangkaiIsland using primary data. Research methodssuch as measurement of total length and weight of the grouper Sunufish from the catch of fishermen and traders ineach collection area. The average of the total length, the size structure and weight length relationships wereanalyzed descriptively,The analysis results of the average total length of the grouper (P. leopardus) caught inSarappo Island, Lumulumu Island and Langkai Island respectively 29.84 ± 8.6 cm (N = 624), 31.93 ± 8.03 cm ( N =291), 34.64 ± 7.41 cm (N = 214) where the nearer them to the mainland,the smaller averagetotal length is. The sizedistribution of grouper sunu (P. leopardus) in the Sarappo island and Lumulumu island are most of the small sizewhich is 22.5 cm by 35.63% and 22.68%, and on the Langkai island the most caught fishes size are 37.5 cm by 31,77%. Abstract

Bone Strait and Flores sea are Indonesian waters which has a high fish resources, especially Katsuwonuspelagicus. Those waters are also affected by climate change. Aims of study were to examined distribution map ofKatsuwonus fish based on environemental condition at Bone Strait and Flores Sea. Study was conducted for fourmonths (May – August 2015). Environment parameters (Sea level temperature, Chl a, salnity and pH) wasmeasured in situ at fishing area and fish weight data was measured through measuring fish that caught from poleand line fishermen. Results showed that Katsuwonus from Bone Strait (1 – 2 kg and 3.5 – 5 kg) tended to distributeat temperature, Chl a, salinity and pH account for 29.3oC – 30oC, 0.8 – 1.5 mg/m3 and 28 – 30 o/oo, 7.95 – 8.37respectively. meanwhile fish with 2 – 2.5 kg was distributed at 30oC – 30.3oC, 0.6 – 0.7 mg/m3, 28 – 29 o/oo and8.32 – 8.5 for temperature, Chl a, salinity and pH, respectively. At Flores Sea, Katsuwonus with 1.2 – 1.5 kgtended to distribut at 29.5oC – 30oC, 0.12 – 0.16 mg/m3, 28 – 30 o/oo and 7.95 – 8.57 for temperature, chl a, salinityand pH, respectively. Fish with weight 1.5 – 2.2 kg was spread at 28.5oC – 29oC for temperature, 0.1 – 0.13mg/m3 chl a, 28 – 30o/oo for salinity and 8.38 – 8.5 for pH.Keywords : Distribution map, Katsuwonus fish, environmental factor, Bone Strait and Flores Sea.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Dengue infection has been a major concern for decades. Prevention from getting bitten by Aedes aegypti mosquito is considered better than cure as there is no specific antiviral treatment for dengue. Recently, catnip (Nepeta cataria L.) extract has been formulated and marketed as an alternative for protection against mosquitoes and act as a natural form of mosquito repellent.Objectives: To understand the repelling properties of both DEET and N. cataria L. extract and to compare the repelling properties between DEET and N. cataria L. against Ae. aegypti mosquito.Methods: The repelling properties was tested based on the number of mosquitoes that sits on the hand of the respondent after being applied to the gold standard of mosquito repellent, DEET, and compared to N. cataria L. extract in different concentrations in total of 15 minutes.Results: Three different concentrations of catnip extract (10%, 30% and 50%) shows different efficacy in repelling Ae. aegypti mosquitoes at the range of 62.8%-80%, although the repellent activity is still lower than DEET that have 100% repellent activity.Conclusion: Catnip (N. cataria L) showed mosquitoes repellent properties at concentration 10-50% with repellent activity at the range 62.8%-80%. Keywords: Dengue, Aedes aegypti, repellent, DEET (N,N- Diethyl-m-toluamide), catnip (Nepeta cataria L.) extract. INTISARI Pendahuluan: Infeksi Dengue merupakan masalah utama selama berpuluh tahun. Pencegahan dengan menghindari gigitan nyamuk Aedes aegypti dianggap lebih baik daripada mengobati karena tidak ada terapi antiviral yang spesifik untuk dengue. Akhir-akhir ini, ekstrak catnip (Nepeta cataria L.) telah diformulasi dan dipasarkan sebagai alternatif untuk perlindungan terhadap nyamuk dan berlaku sebagai bentuk alami dari repelen.Tujuan: Untuk memahami agen penolakan dari N,N- Diethyl-m-toluamide  (DEET) dan ekstrak N. cataria L. extract dan membandingkan agen penolakan antara DEET dan N. cataria L. terhadap nyamuk Ae. aegypti.Metode: Agen penolakan diuji berdasarkan jumlah nyamuk yang mendarat di tangan responden setelah diolesi repelen nyamuk baku DEET, dan dibandingkan dengan ekstrak N. cataria L. pada berbagai konsentrasi selama total waktu 15 menit.Hasil: Tiga konsentrasi ekstrak catnip (10%, 30% and 50%) menunjukkan daya penolakan nyamuk Ae. aegypti yang berbeda pada rentang 62.8%-80%, meskipun aktivitas penolakan nyamuknya masih lebih rendah dari DEET yang mempunyai aktivitas penolakan 100%.Simpulan: Ekstrak Catnip (N. cataria L) menunjukkan daya penolakan nyamuk pada konsentrasi 10-50% dengan aktivitas repelant antara 62.8%-80%.Kata kunci: Dengue, Aedes aegypti, repellent, DEET (N,N- Diethyl-m-toluamide), ekstrak catnip (Nepeta cataria L.).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Jigsaw terhadap kemampuan siswa kelas V di SDN Sidomulyo Gresik dalam mengidentifikasi gagasan utama dalam teks bacaan. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh keadaan tidak mampunya siswa dalam menentukan gagasan utama. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam menentukan gagasan utama sebelum diterapkannya model pembelajaran Jigsaw, (2) mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam menentukan gagasan utama sesudah diterapkannya model pembelajaran Jigsaw, (3) membuktikan ada tidaknya pengaruh model pembelajaran Jigsaw terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam menentukan gagasan utama. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN Sidomulyo Gresik yang berjumlah 20 siswa terdiri dari 9 siswa laki-laki dan 11 siswa perempuan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disimpulkan tiga hal berikut. Pertama, kemampuan menentukan gagasan utama sebelum menggunakan model pembelajaran Jigsaw tergolong kurang karena nilai rata-rata kelas 41. Kedua, kemampuan menentukan gagasan utama sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran Jigsaw tergolong baik karena nilai rata-rata kelas sebesar 85. Ketiga, ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan menentukan gagasan utama karena nilai signifikansi hasil perhitungan SPSS = 0,000 kurang dari 0,05 dan t hitung = 14,786 lebih besar daripada t tabel = 2,042. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting bagi pendidikan dengan mengungkapkan potensi positif dari Model Pembelajaran Jigsaw dalam mengembangkan keterampilan membaca siswa. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar sekolah dan pendidik mempertimbangkan penerapan Model Jigsaw dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan identifikasi gagasan utama siswa. Namun, penelitian lanjutan dapat dilakukan untuk memahami faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi efektVitas Model Jigsaw dalam konteks pembelajaran yang berbeda.
