Abstract

Kesejahteraan masyarakat merupakan hal penting yang perlu terus ditingkatkan, salah satunya dapat dilakukan dengan mengelola sumber daya alam atau potensi lokal. Kecamatan Poncokusumo merupakan bagian dari wilayah Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS) yang menyimpan berbagai potensi lokal, salah satunya yaitu tanaman berpotensi obat. Keberadaan tanaman berpotensi obat dapat dijadikan sebagai tonggak dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat di Kecamatan Poncokusumo, terutama di desa Argosuko. Berkaitan dengan permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan beberapa upaya pendampingan: 1) pembuatan simplisia, 2) penyusunan komposisi simplisia sebagai bahan obat, hingga 3) pengemasan dan pengurusan ijin PIRT/BPOM. Partisipan dalam penelitian dan pengabdian adalah ibu-ibu PKK desa Argosuko sebanyak 30 orang, berasal dari 3 dusun (Keden, Wangkal Kidul, dan Wangkal Lor). Hasil penelitian dan pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa seluruh ibu-ibu PKK bisa mengikuti kegiatan pendampingan yang diadakan. Melalui program pendampingan, ibu-ibu PKK memperoleh pembekalan bagaimana memperkaya pengetahuan tentang pembuatan bermacam-macam simplisia yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi, bagaimana menyusun komposisi simplisia sebagai bahan jamu herbal, bagaimana cara melakukan pengemasan yang menarik konsumen, dan bagaimana mendapatkan legalitas dari dinas terkait. Sehingga harapannya, di masa depan ibu-ibu PKK dapat mengatasi masalah perekonomian akibat ketidaktahuan dalam mengelola potensi lokal sebagai sumber ekonomi untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga dan masyarakat.Kata kunci—pendampingan, branding, simplisia, kesejahteraan masyarakatAbstractCommunity welfare is an important thing that needs to be improved, one of which can be done by managing natural resources or local potential. Poncokusumo Subdistrict is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) which stores a variety of local potential, one of which is a potentially medicinal plant. The existence of potential medicinal plants can be used as a milestone in improving the welfare of the community in the District of Poncokusumo, especially in the village of Argosuko. In acquintance with this problem, several assistance efforts have been made: 1) manufacturing of simplicia, 2) preparation of the composition of simplicia as a medicinal ingredient, up to 3) packaging and processing of PIRT/BPOM permits. Participants in the research and service were 30 PKK Argosuko village women, coming from three hamlets (Keden, Wangkal Kidul, and Wangkal Lor). The results of research and community service show that all PKK can participate in the mentoring activities that are held. Through the mentoring program, PKK got a briefing on how to enrich their knowledge about making various kinds of simplicia that have high economic value, how to arrange the composition of simplicia as herbal medicinal ingredients, how to do packaging that attracts consumers, and how to obtain legality from related agencies. Therefore, it is expected in the future, PKK can overcome economic problems due to ignorance in managing local potential as an economic source to improve the welfare of families and communities.Keywords—assistance, branding, simplicia, community welfare

Abstract

Indonesia is considered as a mega-biodiversity country that has a massive amount of vascular and non-vascular plants. The tropical environment condition of Indonesia could support the growth of macrofungi. Information about edible macrofungi from the Forest of Lombok Island is based on limited data. This research aims to characterize the edible macrofungi at Kerandangan Protected Forest & Natural Park, West Lombok Regency, Indonesia. This research was a descriptive and explorative study. The edible mushrooms were observed through the Cruise method by following the particular track inside the forest. The sample found in the forest then documented and evaluated. A morphological analysis procedure was performed to assess the profile and similarity between the microscopic evaluations with the mushrooms identification book. In this study, we also offered a phylogeny analysis based on morphological characters similarity. The Dendogram tree was reconstructed using PAST 3.0. software. The result showed that there are eight species of edible mushrooms found that were group into Basidiomycota, namely, Termitomyces clypeatus, Termitomyces umkowaan, Termitomyces sp.1, Pleorotus flabelatus, Pleurotus ostreatus, Coprinus desimenatus, Tremella fuciformis, and Polyporus sp. All of them involved in Basidiomycota. Based on characterization and identification, the species are grouped into three Ordos and five Families. Most of the edible macrofungi found at Kerandangan Protected Forest & Natural Park growth at soil and deadwood.

Abstract

Gunung Sigogor Nature Reserve is a conservation forest administratively located in Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency, East Java, Indonesia. The dragonfly and damselfly community structure, which includes diversity, abundance, evenness and dominance, can be used as an early indicator of changes in environmental conditions, especially in aquatic ecosystems. This study aimed to determine dragonfly and damselfly’s community structure, diversity, evenness, dominance, and habitat preference. This study uses the Visual Encounter Survey (VES) observation and transect methods. This method is carried out by tracing all predetermined observation stations by recording the diversity of dragonfly species and counting the number of individuals. The study conducted in the Gunung Sigogor Nature Reserve area showed 15 species from 8 families consisting of 9 species of Suborder Anisoptera and six species of Suborder Zygoptera. In the results, the highest diversity index value was in the Small Stream (S3) with H'= 1.84. The evenness index, Goa Jepang Stream (S5), has the highest value with a value of E=0.9, and the dominance index of Watu Bandar Stream (S6) location has the highest value with a value of C=1.

Abstract

Scientific reasoning and problem-solving have become primary interests in 21st-century education. These skills have an essential role in preparing students to face global competition. This study aims to determine the correlation between scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills of biology students in animal classification and whether scientific reasoning can be used to predict problem-solving skills. The participants were 56 undergraduate students of Biology Education. The scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills of students were assessed with the pre and post-test. A simple linear regression test using the SPSS 16.0 was applied in data analysis. The results showed a p-value of 0.00 < 0.05, so there is a correlation between scientific reasoning and argumentation skills. R-value indicates 0.523, which means a strong correlation. The contribution of scientific reasoning to argumentation skills was 27.3%, while other variables explained the rest.

Abstract

Scientific reasoning, argumentation, and problem-solving are essential skills in 21st century. They help people solve problems in daily life. This study aimed to investigate the effect of local-based teaching materials on student’s argumentation, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving skills using Science Project-based Learning (SPjBL). Argumentation skill is a social and dynamic process, involving individuals engaged in thinking, constructing, and critiquing knowledge in science. Scientific Reasoning skills require students to give reasons in the form of opinion or actions and conclusions by using appropriate language to explain what they think and making judgments or decisions based on the produced reasons or evidence. Problem-Solving skill is a process of designing, evaluating, and implementing a strategy to answer questions. In this study, the time series approach was used as a part of the quasi-experimental design with Science Project-based Learning (SPjBL) as the learning model. A total of 29 Biology students of Universitas Negeri Malang participated in this study in August-November 2019 at the Department of Biology of the university. The data was collected using pre-test and post-test instruments which measured scientific argumentation, scientific reasoning, and Problem-solving skill variables. The data analysis was done using ANCOVA test in SPSS 16.0. The results of this study show that there is positive effects of local-based invertebrate and vertebrate materials on scientific argumentation, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving skills. These findings can be used as reference for educator to gain students’ scientific reasoning, argumentation, and problem-solving skills in science classroom through Science Project-based Learning (SPjBL) with the help of local-based teaching materials.

Abstract

White-lipped island pit viper (Cryptelytrops insularis) is one of the most distributed Viperidae in Indonesia, especially in eastern part of Sundaland and Lesser Sunda. To investigate the evolutionary history and the dispersal pattern of C. insularis, we collected 23 samples from 11 localities. Four simultaneous genes composing two mitochondrial genes (16S rRNA & ND4) and two nuclear genes (7IβFIB & 3ITBP) have been successfully amplified and sequenced. Bayesian inference was performed to reconstruct the phylogeny tree. Furthermore, time divergence and the population demography analyses were estimated. The phylogeny tree of C. insularis exhibits monophyletic group, with four geographically structured lineages. The time divergence estimation indicated that C. insularis evolved at approximately 7 million years ago (mya). Population demography was inferred by Bayesian Skyline Plot analysis, it shows that the population increased constantly from the past to recent time. The evolutionary history of C. insularis can be explained by a pattern of the time divergences estimation that indicating movement from West (Java) to East (Lesser Sunda). We expected that the dispersal factor of C. insularis into many different islands (in Lesser Sunda) is caused by the animal helped and also oceanic rafting which could be the stepping stones to another island.  Keywords: Cryptelytrops insularis, dispersal patterns, phylogeny, population demography, time divergence
