Abstract

Pelatihan penggunaan media berbantuan komputer bagi guru dan siswa serta mahasiswa sebagai salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pemahaman dan pembelajaran ilmu kimia di SMKN 3 Mataram telah berhasil diselenggarakan. Pelatihan ini dilakukan dengan tujuan sebagai penerapan inovasi dalam proses pembelajaran guna pemahaman kimia lebih lanjut. Proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media komputer mampu menjawab tantangan kesulitan siswa dan mahasiswa dalam mempelajari kimia baik ditingkat sekolah maupun universitas. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan menggunakan metode demonstrasi dan simulasi yang diikuti dengan sasaran kegiatan melakukan pembuatan struktur dan melihat bentuk geometri struktur molekul tersebut. Pemahaman sasaran kegiatan tentang struktur molekul suatu senyawa meningkat setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini. Hal ini terbukti dengan 90% sasaran kegiatan berhasil menjawab post test yang diberikan diakhir acara.

Abstract

Eksplorasi madu dan propolis Trigona sp sebagai antioksidan alami semakin ditekuni. Produksi madu dan propolis Trigona sp. di Kabupaten Lombok Utara semakin berkembang dengan total koloni sebesar 22.657 pada tahun 2019. Produksi yang melimpah tersebut belum dilengkapi dengan data ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan kadar fenolik total serta menghitung nilai IC50 dari madu dan propolis Trigona sp. asal Lombok Utara. Ekstrak madu Trigona sp. diperoleh menggunakan teknik sentrifugasi dan ekstrak propolis Trigona sp. menggunakan metode Ultrasound-assisted Extraction (UAE). Kadar fenolik total ditentukan menggunakan metode Folin-ciocalteu dan aktivitas radikal bebas ditentukan menggunakan metode DPPH. Ekstrak madu Trigona sp. asal Lombok Utara memiliki kadar senyawa fenolik total sebesar 1,25 0,08 mg GAE/g, dan Nilai IC50 sebesar1550 ± 0,02 μg/ml. Ekstrak propolis Trigona sp. asal Lombok Utara memiliki kadar senyawa fenolik total ekstrak propolis sebesar 6,02 0,55 mg GAE/g, dan Nilai IC50 sebesar 493,3±0,01 μg/ml.http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/aec.v6.i1.2021.p74-82

Abstract

High intensity of ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes several adverse effect such as erythema, sunburn, pigmentation, early senescence, and skin cancer. These effects can be prevented by using sun protection product. Wali (Brucea javanica L. Merr) is one of natural plants that contain phenol and flavonoid. These compounds are proven to have sunscreen effect. The purposes of this studies are to formulate and evaluate the effectivity of oil-in-water-type sunscreen cream using 1% ethanol extract of Wali seed. The sunscreen cream is developed by using a fusion method and the evaluation of the effectivity is conducted in vivo on the skin of mice (Mus musculus). The formulated sunscreen cream is then tested for its physical properties, including homogenity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, and stability. The effectivity of the formulated cream is also tested by observing the formation of erytema on the skin of mice (Mus musculus). Erythema appearing on the mouse skin is analyzed with ImageJ and SPSS v23 using the one way anova method. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Wali seeds could be formulated into sunscreen cream. Abstract

Antibiotics are drugs used to treat infections caused by bacteria. The results of RISKESDAS in 2013 showed that there were 27.8% of the public storing antibiotics without a doctor's prescription, which could lead to bacterial resistance. One of the factors that influence the use of antibiotics in community is the level of knowledge. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of public knowledge regarding the use of antibiotics using the CBIA (Active Human Learning Way) method. This research is descriptive using the CBIA method. Respondents were given a pre-test questionnaire followed by the delivery of material related to antibiotics, then continued with the post-test. The results showed that there was an increase in public knowledge regarding the use of antibiotics by 16.25% using the CBIA method.

Abstract

Free radicals are an atom or molecule that has unpaired electron in its outer orbital that causes maked this reactive and unstable molecule. Free radicals when exposed continuously in the body are believed to cause several diseases include atherosclorosis, ischemia, cancer and premature aging therefore, antioxidant compounds is needed to inhibit the formation of free radicals. Kastuba (Euphorbia Pulcherrima Willd.) is one of the plants that has the potential as a natural antioxidant. The aim of this study was determining the content of active chemical compounds and free radical inhibitory potential of kastuba leaves ethanol ekstract.The procedures of this study were material collection, plant determination, simplicia production, extraction, phytochemical screening and qualitative free radical inhibition test with TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography). Phytochemical screening aim to determine the chemical compounds component of kastuba leaves ethanol extract including flavonoids, tannins and terpenoid test. The potential of free radical inhibition was carried out qualitatively with the TLC, DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) spray reagent. The results showed that kastuba leaves ethanol extract for both green leaves and red leaves contained flavonoids, tannins and terpenoids, and both leaves had the potential as free radical inhibition that indicated by yellow spots on TLC after DPPH reaction spray.
