Abstract

Hydroelectric plant is the most widely used in Indonesia. Francis and pelton turbines are by far the most widely used type of turbine. Both are generally use the gravitational force of falling or flowing river. However, river flows is not only the potential of electricity, the power of ocean currents can also be used as a hydroelectric plant. One of the turbines is often used for the utilization of ocean currents is a bulb turbine nevertheless it can also be used in river flows. Bulb turbine test method is a way by varying the flow using CFD. CFD is a method to numerically calculate fluid flow by the control of dimensions, area and volume using computer. The results of testing using CFD by varying the flow of 300 l/s, 400 l/s and 454 l/s. A constant discharge of 300l/s produced 171 rpm rotation at a flow rate of 3.4 m/s, a constant discharge of 400l/s produced 1189 rpm rotation at a flow rate of 4.54 m/s, while a constant discharge of 454l/s produced 238 rpm at a flow rate of 5.15 m/s and obtained 2013W turbine power with turbine efficiency of 76% at 0.6 meters head in the flow of Katulampa tributary.

Abstract

In the present day, light emitting diode (LED) is used for domestic purposes up to the industry, such as for lighting room. Although relatively expensive, LED are highly in demand by the public because it produces a brighter light and uses very low power so it can save electrical energy. LED produces heat emanating from the chip. Generation of heat will result in the degradation of performance of the LED. To keep the performance of the LED light remains good, a process is needed for the LED to have a better heat dissipation. It is achieved by using heatsink as an element to release heat. This research is a fundamental research which aims to determine heat transfer characteristics on LED of Chip on Board (COB) type. From the experimental results, it is obtained that the greater the value of the input voltage, the higher the value of lux but the performance of the LED decreases with higher junction temperature value. The performance and light produced by the LED are highly dependent on the type of heatsink materials. When aluminum used the value of lux obtained was 1363 lm/m2 while for aluminum-copper combination the value of lux obtained was 1251 lm/m2. The value of heatsink area greatly affected the temperature of the thermal pad.

Abstract

Rotary Positioner Table is one of the welding aids that are widely used industrial world especially welding with the intention of facilitating welder to work on certain products. As the name implies Positioner which means positioning where the tool in this design can position the welding object freely according to the correct position and comfortable for people who are doing welding. This tool can be applied to drill the hole circle the same distance on the flange, to cut the round pieces , for welding pipes, welding shafts, discs, truck rims, etc.The selection of motor types and speed control becomes very important to support the performance of this tool which is expected to be used for welding with a maximum work load of 100 kg with vertical welding position. For that matter proper analysis is needed to determine the motor power and rotation speed of the turntable in order to get the best welding results. The way this Positioner tool works mechanically by rotating the rotary axis (lever) that has been made, to adjust the angle manually. This positioner can move on the X, Y, and Z axes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menentukan perbedaan karakteristik material komposit serat karbon dengan dua metode laminasi antara manual lay-up dan vacuum infusion. Penelitian terbagi dalam beberapa tahapan. Tahap pertama pembuatan specimen komposit dengan fraksi berat serat 60% dengan lapisan serat sebanyak 10 layer untuk uji tarik dan 40 layer untuk uji impak. Matriks yang digunakan yaitu resin epoksi. Tahap kedua adalah pengujian bajan komposit. Pengujian yang dilakukan yaitu uji tarik dan uji impak. Uji tarik dilakukan dengan menggunakan standar ASTM D3039 dan uji impak menggunakan standar ASTM 6110. Tahap terakhir yaitu hasil Analisa data dan pembahasan. Hasil pengujian kekuatan tarik komposit dengan metode vacuum infusion memiliki kekuatan tarik dan harga impak paling baik dengan kekuatan tarik sebesar 595.63 MPa dan modulus elastisitas sebesar 6976 MPa sedangkan energi yang diserap 2433.65 J dengan harga impaknya 33.25 J/cm2. Pengujian pada specimen metode manual lay-up memiliki kekuatan tarik sebesar 581.93 MPa dan modulus elastisitas sebesar 10.241 MPa sedangkan energi yang diserap 2212.59 J dengan harga impak 29.41 J/cm2. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan metode vacuum infusion memiliki karakteristik yang lebih baik dibandingkan metode manual lay-up.

Abstract

Energy is all around us in a very clear shape and utilization. Along with the changing times, the energy is being intensively investigated with the intention to do enhancement to optimize an effective and efficient energy source. Light Emiting Diode (LED), which is one of the electronic component, is not foreign in human life. LEDs are now widely used, such as in children's toys, traffic signs, the indicator light for the electronic equipment industry as well as photography. SMD 3528 LED strip light is a type of LED that is most widely used today. In addition to its relatively small dimensions is also due to the low electrical power consumption. In the world of photography, lighting sources is absolute existence. This study was conducted to determine the characteristics of LED Strip lights SMD 3528 with passive cooling for photographic purposes. From the experimental results, it was obtained the greater input power of is given, the value of the points that were tested was greater. Among other things, LED temperature, the temperature of the middle heat sink, the heat-sink and the outside air (ambient) and the resulting brightness. Material and cross-sectional area and shape of the heat sink greatly affected the absorption and release of heat that occurs on passive cooling.

Abstract

Suatu Pengujian untuk mengukur ketahanan bahan terhadap beban kejut, dilakukan pengujian impak. Pengujian impak mensimulasikan hasil kondisi uji impak matrial AISI 1025 dengan metode charpy yang dirancang dengan menggunakan standar American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM E23-07a. Berdasarkan kontruksiperancangan beban pendulum,dan perhitungan kekuatan kontruksi dengan beban yang diterima AISI 1025 Pada mesin uji impak charpy yang dirancang dengan beban pendulum 100 N dan daya motor dalam menaikan pendulum132,57 W. Dengan kekuatan impak maksimal 39,87 J.Berdasarkan data pada alat uji impak charpy diatas didapat hasil dari setiap matrial diperoleh energi yang diserap maksimal 39,87 J, harga impak 0,498 J/m2 dan gaya pendulum62,22 N.
