Abstract

The objective of this quasi experimental research was to find out the implementation of learning model Number Head Together in improving students’ comprehension of mathematical concept. The research design that used was pretest-posttest control design. The population of this research was all students in the eighth grade of odd semester SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandarlampung 2012/2013 year study and the sample of this research was gotten by choosing two classes from four classes randomly, that was class VIII A and VIII B. The data of students’ comprehension of mathematical concept was analyzed by using two average similarity experiments. Based on the data analysis, it was concluded that the implementation of cooperative learning model type NHT could improve the students’ comprehension of mathematical concept in the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandarlampung.Key words: NHT learning Model, Comprehension of Mathematical Concept

Abstract

This is quasi experimental research that aims for knowing the effectiveness of Learning Cycle 3E model and conventional learning for increasing students mathematical conceptual understanding.  This research design is pre-test post-test control group design.  The research population is all students of 7th grade class even semester of SMP Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung academic years 2012/2013 with homogenous student abilities. The research sample is 7th A and 7th D which  choosen randomly from seven classes.  Based on hypothesis analysis, it is found that students mathematical conceptual understanding average, and student from Learning Cycle 3E model is higher than conventional learning.  The conclusion is Learning Cycle 3E model is more effective than conventional learning for increasing students mathematical concept understanding.  Keywords: Effectiveness, Learning Cycle 3E, Mathematical Concept Understanding

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to determine the influence of contextual approach toward student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. Design used in this study was a posttest only control design.The population in this study are all students in 8th Grade of SMPN 3 Batanghari in the academic year 2012/2013 that having low mathematical conceptual understanding. The sample are class VIII.2 and VIII.5 choosed by using purposive random sampling. Data techniques collection uses mathematical conceptual understanding test. Based on the result of hipotesis test, the average of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding at class using contextual approach is more than that of using conventional learning in the significant level 5%. So, it was concluded that the contextual approach there influences mathematical conceptual understanding of student.Keywords: contextual approach, mathematical conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Learning  done by the teacher is impacted on students’ learning success. Based on the experienced of learning in VIIIA class of SMP Negeri 1 Natar, the teacher is one of the sole source of information and learning dominate, resulting in low activity and the success of students’ studying mathematics. Action research is done to improve the activity and success of students’ mathematics learning through cooperative learning model type NHT. The measures are implemented in three cycles, each cycle consist of four meetings. The instruments used to collect the data in this study are in the form of students’ sheets activity, field notes, and tests. The tests are conducted each end of the cycle to determine the success of students’ mathematics studying. The analysis showed that the percentage of the activities and mathematics learning outcomes of each cycle are increased from cycle to cycle up to the third cycle. The conclusion of this study is the use of cooperative learning model NHT type can increase the activities and the success of mathematic learning the students of VIIIA SMP Negeri 1 Natar South Lampung.Keywords: Cooperative learning NHT type, activity, learning outcomes.

Abstract

Instrumental music is tone series from a voice that composed a music tool or more without vocal. This quasi-experimental study aimed to determine the influence of instrumental music in completion of mathematic’s exercise toward learning result. The population in this study areallstudents in 8th Grade of SMPN 8 Bandarlampung in the academic year 2012/2013, while the sample are students in class VIII.B and VIII.C that choosed by random. The design study is a post-test only control design. Based on the result of hypothesis test, instrumental music in completion of mathematic’s exercise not positive influence toward student’s mathematical learning result.Keywords: Instrumental musi, mathematics learning results.

Abstract

This research was a quasi experiment is aimed to know about the influence of cooperative learning method application to cooperative script method about understanding of student is mathematical concept.  The research design was pos-tes only.  Research population was the whole of eight-class student in second semester of metro three state Junior High Schoolin academic year of 2012/2013 by the samples VIII A and VIII B that were chosen from six classes by cluster random sampling method.  The data of research was student’s mathematical concept understanding and character.  According to the data analyisis result, it was obtained that the average of student’s mathematical concept understanding, and the achievement of behavior character and student’s social skill in cooperative learning model to cooperative script method were better than conventional learning.  The conclusion of research is the cooperative learning model with cooperative script method are better applied to the understanding of student’s mathematical concept.Keyword: Cooperative Script, mathematical concept

Abstract

The understanding of mathematical concept of students in VIII-B SMP Negeri 13 Bandar Lampung  has not satisfied yet.  That is caused by in learning activities, students are not be active to understand the, so that almost students does not have chance to find the concept by your self. Besides that, students are not able to say their opinion and there is no interaction among students. Based on the result of this study, the implementation of STAD cooperative learning model able to increase students activities and understanding of mathematical concept.Key word: activity, understanding of mathematical concept, STAD

Abstract

Mind Mapping is  one of learning method where the student have to reveal the core concept, so they will have creative thingking ability by connecting all concept. This research come to know the influence Mind Mapping method condisered by student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. The sample of this research were VII B as experiment class and VII A as control class. That was acuired by purposive sapling technique. The design research was postest only control group design. Based on research result, it was concluded that mind mapping method has influence considered by student’s mathematical conceptual understanding.Keywords: Mind Mapping Method Learning, Understanding of mathematical concept.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to determine the influence of cooperative learning model type think pair share (TPS) toward student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. Design used in this study was a posttest only control grup design. The populations in this study are all students in 7th Grade of SMPN 3 batanghari in the academic year 2012/2013. The sample are class VII.1 and VII.2 choosed by used was cluster random sampling. Data techniques collection using mathematical conceptual understanding test. Based on the result of hipotesis test by using t-test, the average of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding at class using cooperative learning type TPS is more than the average of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding that of using conventional learning. So, it was concluded that the cooperative learning type of TPS there was influence of increasing mathematical conceptual understanding of student.Keywords: cooperatif Learning model type Think Pair Share (TPS), mathematical conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This research aims to find influence of the implementation SQ4R learning strategy towards students’s understanding of mathematical concept.  It was quasi experiment and the design of the research was posstest only control group design.  The population in this research  were the first year students of SMA Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2012/2013 who generally had the same cognitive ability.  The sample are class X.4 and X.6 which were choosen by   purposive random sampling technique.  Based on hypothesis test by using a nonparametric  statistical test at level of significant 5% , student’s mathematical conceptual understanding at class using SQ4R learning strategy is not different with that of using conventional learning, it showed that SQ4R learning strategy has not influence towards understanding about mathematical concept of first year students of SMA Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung  at even semester in the academic year  2012/2013.Keywords: Influence, SQ4R learning strategy, Understanding of mathematical concept.
