Abstract

Ideal protein (amino acids) concept focused on broiler ABSTRACT. Accurate estimation of the amino acid requirement is very importance for diet formulation in growing animals such as broiler. Inadequate formulation of dietary amino acids will impair protein utilization and increase the total nitrogen output to the environment. Amino acids requirement of animals changes due to dietary, sex, and genetic and environmental factors. To address all potential combinations of factors with dose-response experiments is almost impossible. Thus the ideal protein concept provides a simple and effective approach to solve this problem. Based on this concept, the requirement of indispensible amino acids can be determined. For this concept, lysine has been used as the reference amino acid to calculate other indispensable amino acids due to several considerations. This paper will review more detailed about protein concept based on amino acid profile by using broiler as sampel review.

Abstract

Evaluation of antibody titre in yolk from immunized chickens with excretory/secretory antigen of L3 stage of Ascaridia galliABSTRACT. The purpose of the present study was to trigger humoral immunity of chickens egg yolk exposed to excretory/secretory released in vitro by L3 stage of Ascaridia galli. Amount of 6 head chickens were divided into two groups. First group, the chickens were not immunized. Second group, the chickens were immunized with excretory/ secretory. Active immunizations with excretory/ secretory antigen were applied intra muscularly of chickens with an initial dose of 80 μg. The immunizations were repeated three times with dose of each 60 μg with an interval of one week. The first immunizations were excretory/secretory antigen mixed with Fruend Adjuvant Complete and subsequently mixed with Freund Adjuvant Incomplete. Antibody response in yolk was detected at weekly intervals by enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA). The result showed that antibody in yolk was begun detect with ELISA increased at two weeks after immunization, This study has shown that the excretory/secretory released in vitro by L3 stage A. galli is capable of stimulating humoral immunity by mean of producing IgY in yolk.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Analisis kesesuaian lahan terutama bagi ternak ruminansia erat kaitannya dengan penetapan kawasan penyebaran dan pengembangan peternakan. Kabupaten Aceh Besar memiliki salah satu komoditi unggulan yaitu plasma nutfah sapi Aceh sebagai kekayaan sumber daya genetik ternak lokal Indonesia yang perlu dilindungi dan dilestarikan dengan cara mempertahankan populasi ternak hidup. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menilai kesesuaian fisik lingkungan untuk pengembangan peternakan sapi Aceh yang digembalakan di padang penggembalaan. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di wilayah Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis deskriptif dengan penerapan sistem informasi geografis (SIG). Pengolahan data menggunakan aplikasi QGIS 3.10.14 dan analisis data geospasial yang disusun sesuai dengan standar kesesuaian lahan FAO berdasarkan parameter kesesuaian jenis tanah, ketinggian, kemiringan, iklim, curah hujan, suhu dan ph tanah yang dapat diamati dan diukur berdasarkan kebutuhan fisik lingkungan sapi Aceh pada padang penggembalaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hampir semua wilayah 95,26% dari total luas wilayah kajian sesuai untuk kawasan peternakan sapi Aceh pada padang penggembalaan, dan hanya 4,74% lahan yang tidak sesuai untuk kawasan peternakan sapi Aceh pada padang penggembalaan.  (Spatial analysis of land and pasture suitability for Aceh cattle in Aceh Besar district) ABSTRACT. Analysis of land suitability for livestock is strongly related to distribution and livestock development Aceh Besar District has one of the leading commodities, namely Aceh cow germplasm as a wealth of genetic resources of Indonesian local livestock that need to be protected and preserved by keeping the number of livestock population the objective of this study is to assess the physical suitability of the environment for the development of Aceh Cows that are grazed in pastures. This research was conducted in the Aceh Besar District area. The method applied in this study was description analysis methods by evaluating the area topography to determine the land suitability for cattle and pasture and its potency as a tool to determine land suitability for livestock production. The focus of the study was based on application of a GIS geographic information system in handling spatial data on soil types, altitude, slope, climate, rainfall, temperature, and soil pH in accordance with FAO land suitability standards. All data were analyzed by using QGIS 3.10.14 software. The results showed that almost all areas of 95.26% of the total area of the study area were suitable for the Aceh cattle breeding area in grazing areas, and only 4.74% of the land was unsuitable for the Aceh cattle breeding area in pastures.

Abstract

Increasing of antibody titre against avian influenza in serum of vaccinated laying hens with commercial vaccineABSTRACT. The advantages of vaccination are that it reduces the risk of infection, and concurrently reduces morbidity, mortality and shedding of virus. The goal of the present study was to evaluate efficacy of Avian Influenza commercial vaccine based on humoral immunity responses of laying hens. Totally, 20 breakel silver layer hens were used in this research. The laying hens were vaccinated using Avian Influenza commercial vaccine (H5N1). Blood samples were collected from the axilaris vein (left or rigt) one time at prevaccination and repeated three times with an interval of one month at postvaccination. Antibody titres were examined using Hemaglutination Inhibition (HI). The result showed that Avian Influenza commercial vaccine (H5N1) was a good protection because the vaccine was able to trigger protective humoral immunity of laying hens indicated by increasing of antibody titre in serum of vaccinated laying hens during three months.

Abstract

Purification yolk immunoglobulin of hens vaccinated against excretory/secretory Ascaridia galli L3 larvae stageABSTRACT. The main immunoglobulin fraction of poultry is called IgY, in order to distinguish it from the mammalian IgG. This article focus on purification yolk immunoglobulin of hens vaccinated against excretory/secretory Ascaridia galli larvae to obtained purity IgY. Active vaccinations with excretory/secretory antigen were applied intra muscularly of chickens with an initial dose of 80 μg. The vaccinations were repeated three times with dose of each 60 μg with an interval of one week. The first vaccinations were excretory/secretory antigen mixed with Fruend Adjuvant Complete and subsequently mixed with Freund Adjuvant Incomplete. Antibody response in yolk was detected at weekly intervals by agar gel precipitation test (AGPT). The chicken’s eggs were collected from 49 day after vaccinations. IgY was extracted from egg yolks by means of ammonium sulphate and purified using fast performance liquid chromatography (FPLC). The purity of anti-ekscretory/secretory IgY protein was determined by Bradford method (λ = 280 nm). The result showed that antibody in yolk was begun detect with AGPT at four weeks after vaccination. IgY concentration after purification was 0,875 ± 0.251 mg/ml. This study has shown that the product released in vitro by L3 stage A. galli is capable of stimulating humoral immunity by mean of producing antibody through yolk as biologic manufacturer could be a good choice.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Salah satu upaya dilakukan untuk mengganti penggunaan antibiotik adalah mencari imbuhan pakan alternatif seperti pro-prebiotik, bahan pakan herbal dan berbagai imbuhan pakan lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ampas kedela dan bungkil inti sawit (AKBIS) yang difermentasi dengan Aspergillus niger (A. niger) terhadap mikroflora saluran pencernaan broiler. Sampel saluran pencernaan ayam diperoleh dari 80 ekor broiler yang dibagi menjadi empat perlakuan. Setiap unit perlakuan terdiri dari empat ekor ayam. Setiap perlakuan terdiri dari 5 ulangan yang diberi pakan perlakuan selama 21 dan 35 hari dengan penambahan empat konsentrasi pakan fermentasi yang berbeda (0%, 2%, 4%, 6% dari total pakan). Saluran pencernaan broiler diperiksa ALT mikroba, E.coli, Salmonella dan BAL. Data dianalisis dengan uji Anava melalui program SPSS for windows versi 17.0 dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AKBIS yang difermentasi dengan A. niger berpengaruh nyata (P0,05) terhadap jumlah mikroba saluran pencernaan broiler. Konsentrasi dan lama pemberian berpengaruh (P0,05) terhadap jumlah mikroba saluran pencernaan broiler. Pemberian AKBIS fermentasi mampu mempertahankan jumlah mikroba yang menguntungkan seperti E. coli dan mengurangi mikroba patogen yaitu Salmonella, serta mampu meningkatkan jumlah bakteri asam laktat dalam saluran pencernaan broiler. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa AKBIS fermentasi dapat digunakan sebagai sumber probiotik sehingga mampu meningkatkan kualitas broiler dan aman bagi konsumen.The effect of soybean by products and palm kernel meal fermented with Aspergillus niger on broilers intestinal bacteria ABSTRACT. One of the efforts to replace antibiotics in animal feed is by providing other sources of feed additives such as pre- pro biotics, phytogenics, and other feed additives. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of soybean by products and palm kernel meal that fermented with A. niger on the microflora digestive tract of broilers. Chicken digestive tract samples obtained from 80 species of broiler fed treatment for 21 and 35 days. The tretaments in this experiment were different concentrations of fermented soybean by products and palm kernel meal (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%) in the commercial feed. Digestive tract of broiler examined TPC of microbe, E. coli, Salmonella and lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Data were analyzed by Anova with SPSS for Windows version 17.0 and continued with Duncan test. The results showed that soybean by products and palm kernel meal fermented with A. Niger significantly affected (P 0.05) to the number of microbial digestive tract of broilers. Fermented feed was able to maintain the number of non-pathogenic microflora and reduced the number of pathogenic microflora. In conclusion, fermentation of soybean by products with palm kernel meal was able to improve the broiler quality and safe for consumers.

Abstract

(The evaluation of  nutritive value and In Vitro digestibility of oil palm fronds through fermentation by using  Aspergillus niger  with  different soluble carbohydrate sources) ABSTRACT. Oil palm frond (OPF) is one of potential sources of alternative feed, but has limited use due to high crude fiber and low crude protein contents. Fermentation is one of the methods widely applied to improve nutritive value of animal feed. The purpose of this research is to increase nutritive value of fermented oil palm fronds by adding different soluble carbohydrate source into fermentation media. The results of the experiments indicated that fermented oil palm fronds by Aspergillus niger had a significant effect (P0,05)  on the content of crude protein, crude fiber, and ash. Generally, fermented oil palm fronds with different soluble carbohydrate was able to increase the content of crude protein of oil palm fronds, but not optimal yet in reducing the crude fiber content of fermented substrate. However, the addition of rice bran on the fermentation medium showed the best results, characterized by increasing crude protein and decreasing crude fiber contents as well as improved dry matter and organic matter digestibility, reflected in high concentration of VFA.

Abstract

Evaluation of the potency of agricultural by product as ruminant animal feed in aceh besar regencyABSTRACT. A research to evaluate the potency of agricultural by product as animal feed was conducted in Aceh Besar Regency from June to December 2009. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the availability of local feed from agricultural by product including its production and quality, to calculate animal capacity of ruminant animals by using animal unit (AU) based the production and quality of agricultural by product.This research was carried out by survey method. Data consist of primary and secondary data to calculate the production and quality of agricultural by products in Aceh Besar Regency. The production of agricultural by products was calculated based on dry matter, crude protein and total digestible nutrient. Animal capacity which is calculated based on agricultural by products with the following measurement ; 1 animal unit consumes dry matter with the average of 6,25 kg/day (2.282,25 kg/year), crude protein with average of 0,06 kg/day (240,9 kg/year) and total digestible nutrient with the average of 4,3 kg/day (1.569,5 kg/year).Based on the calculation was found that total of dray matter, crude protein and total digestible nutrient from agricultural by product in Aceh Besar regency was 197.510 ton, 9443,8 ton and 89.167,7 ton respectively. The capacity of ruminant animals fed from agricultural by product in Aceh Besar regency was 87.061 AU, 39.202 AU, and 57.125 AU for dry matter, crude protein and total digestible nutrient respectively. It can be concluded that Aceh Besar regency has a big potency to develop animal production by using agricultural by products. Therefore, agricultural by products in Aceh Besar regency should be used optimally.

Abstract

The effect of level substitution of single cell protein (CJ Prosin) by commercial feed on broiler performanceABSTRACT. A research to find out the effect of the substitution level of single cell protein in commercial feed on Broiler’s performance was conducted from June to December 2011. The purpose of this experiment is to find out alternative protein sources for animal feedstuff that can be used as protein substitution in animal feed on body weight, feed consumption and feed conversion efficiency. The experiment is considered as preliminary experiment to observe the response of single cell protein on broiler performance. This research was carried out at experimental farm, Animal Husbandry Department, Syiah Kuala University. Totally, 250 DOC of Cobb breed with the average body weight 36,78±2,32 gr. used in this experiment. Completely Randomized Design was applied in this experiment with 5 treatments; P0 (commercial feed), P1(commercial feed substituted with 6% SCP), P2 (commercial feed substituted with 12% SCP) dan P3 (commercial feed substituted with 18%CSP). Each treatment consist of 5 replications with total of 20 treatment’s units. Feed was formulated with isoprotein and isoenergy based on NRC requirement ( 23% protein ; 3200 kcal ME/kg at the age of 1-2 week and 20 % protein ; 3200 kcal ME/kg at the age of 4-7 week). Data was analyzed by using SPSS program SPSS (Window 2008). Differences between treatment were stated by Duncan’s multiple range test. The results of the experiment showed that commercial feed substituted with the level of SCP was not significantly difference (P0.05) on body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion ratio. On the other hand, administration of SCP as substituted feed commercial on the level of 12 % and 16 % influenced significantly (P0.05) on body weight gain and feed conversion ratio, but not on feed consumption at the level of 12% SCP. As a conclusion, the use of SCP as animal feed sources in commercial feed only could be tolerated at the level of 6%.

Abstract

(Improvement of fermented bagasse quality as animal feed by fermentation through administration of sago flour at different levels)ABSTRACT. Feed plays an important role in livestock production system. Due to limitation of pasture and forege areas, it needs to find new feed alternative as replacement of forage as animal feed. One of feed alternatives as replacement of forage is bagasse. Bagasse has low nutritive content and digestibility. One of the efforts to improve bagasse quality is by fermentation. The purpose of this experiment was to improve nutritive values of bagasse by fermentation method by using Trichoderma harzianum as inoculum. This research was conducted at Animal Nutrition Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Department, Agricultural Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh from January to April 2015. The experiment was designed by completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments (addition of sago flour at defferent levels); R1 control (0% sago flour), R2 (5% sago flour), R3 (10% sago flour), R4 (15% sago flour) of fermented material. Each treatment has 4 replications, therefore there were 16 units of treatment. Parameters observed in this experiment were nutritive values of fermented bagasse including the contents of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber and ash. The results of the experiments indicated that fermented bagasse with Trichoderma harzianum by addition of various levels of sago flour had significantly effect (P0, 05) on crude fiber and ash contents. However, there were not significantly difference (P0, 05) on dry matter and crude protein contents. In conclusion, addition of various levels of sago flour by using Trichoderma harzianum at fermented bagasse was able to improve nutritive values of fermented bagasse.
