Abstract

The development of reclamation land of Mutiara Coast for settlement could impact to environment especially soil, groundwater, and organisms. The aim of this study is to examine soil and water qualities which were observed from physical and chemical properties, plants and birds varieties in the reclamation land of Mutiara Coast, North Jakarta. Soil sample is taken in 0-30 cm deep. Groundwater is taken in artessian well which has been built by the developer. Plants specimens is reconded and taken for further identification. All of those data have been analyzed descriptively. The results show that average of physical and chemical of soil parameter vary, on the other hand condition of groundwater in the reclamation land of Mutiara coast is not qualified as clean water. Plants varieties based on Simpson index is relatively low (C=0.1072), and also birds varieties (C=0.521). It was only 4 species found in those area.

Abstract

A research to observe sexual behavior or libido because of the treatment of pasak bumi (Eurycoma longifolia Jack) boiled water was conducted. Observation used a designed cage within an estrus female white rat partitioned by wire net. There were four variations doses of pasak bumi boiled water administered to white male mature rats. The first dose was 18 mg/200 g bw (bw= body weight), the second dose was 100 mg/200 g bw, the third dose was 200 mg/200 bw, and the control that administered aquadest 1 ml. Male rat sexual behavior characteristics were: 1. Coming near female partition, 2. Scratching/nipping partition, 3. Meet face to face. The result of the analysis showed that libido stimulated by administered pasak bumi boiled water. The best effect of libido raised by administered the first dose = 18 mg/200 g bw. Meanwhile the effect of libido of dose 2 and 3 better than the control group aquadest but lower than the effect of dose 1 did.

Abstract

Pasak bumi is popular as an aphrodisiac in the traditional medical herb. Boiled drink water of the root powder of pasak bumi is believed can increase the secondary reproduction characters such as libido and the duration of erection. This article is part of the research report that focus on: the distribution of hypophysis acidophil and basophil cells caused of the pasak bumi optimal dose treatment. Research carried out in an experiment using Hemaktosilin Eosin(HE) staining method to study micromorphological distribution of the acidophil and basophil cells of the male rat hypophysis after pasak bumi treatment (the dose of 18 mg pasak bumi/200 g body weight during three days, and the control of 1 ml aquadest). Result of the research showed that: Basophyl cells increased significantly in the third days of pasak bumi administered. Meanwhile acidophyl cells decreased in the third days of pasak bumi administered.

Abstract

Industrial sector is the second priority in development of Tanjungpinang city. The mining industry, processing industry, transport and food are thriving . People has the opinion that a small industry is an industry that does not threaten the environment, so that the small-scale industrial waste are sometimes were forgotten due to it is not significant, and not too dangerous, whereas the B3 waste contained in domestic waste can cause disturbance of marine life and the ecosystem this will have potential to destroy the ecosystem. This study aims to explain the impact of B3 and domestic waste pollution to the environment, especially marine waters to marine life, and feedback to the provincial government for the formulation strategy of the management of the Tanjungpinang waters environment. For the analysis, 10 water samples and 15 aquatic biota was taken at different locations. While the quantitative analysis of pollutants carried by observing a population of the elements of hazardous substances from sediment samples, water and biota network. XRF techniques (X-Ray Fluorescence) and AAS (Atomic Absorbance Spectroscopy) used for the analysis content of the samples. The pollution index determined by compare metal concentration ratio the polluted areas with the standard metal concentration areas that were not polluted. The results show that the coastal water of tanjungpinang have been contaminated by heavy metals (As, Cd, Cu , Pb, Zn, and Ni) with pollution index 2.91 - 5.96. The pollutant Metals were came from the human activities in the shipbuilding industry usually Pb and Zn which is the main component of the paint. While heavy metals such as arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu) probably derived from bauxite mining activity, the high levels of nitrate is a sign of agricultural activities that use fertilizers. Unfortunately the rest of it discharged into the coastal waters of Tanjungpinang city, and there is also pollution of E-coli from human waste. Biota that live in the waters of Tanjungpinang have been contaminated by heavy metals (Hg, Zn, and Ar) by bioaccumulation. The related activity of the pollutant was the bauxite processing industry in the past. Heavy metal pollution is highest in Kijing (Pilsbryoconcha exillis) which includes : Hg, Cr, As, Cu, Zn, Ni, and the dimersal fish that have limited movement. Feedback given is that provincial governments do mangrove reforestation along the coast and estuaries, and create marine conservation areas determination of areas (KKLD) in the strait Dompak water. Key Words : heavy metals, marine life, coastal water of tanjungpinang, mangrove

Abstract

Abstract

AnticipatingDHF outbreak possibility in Kelurahan Widodomertani -Kabupaten Sleman Yogyakarta was necessary done a research. Theresearch covered a study about vector DHF (Dengue HaemorhagicFever) population in Kelurahan Widodomertani. Main activitiesstudying a relative population were larvae and adultmosquitoes surveilance. Those surveilance did to achievelarvae index i.e.: HI (House Index), CI (Container Index), BI(Breteu Index), and the mosquitoes index was HDI (HouseDensity Index). Meanwhile mosquitoes identification need to bedone as well. The research was carried out in March 2002 andSeptember 2002. The results described the small possibilityhaving an outbreak of DHF in a short time. There were foundthree species of mosquitoes i.e.: Aedes albopictus, Culexquinquefasciatus, and Anopheles aconitus. Index values oflarvae and adult mosquitos were HI= 20.0%, CI= 17.6%, BI=16.0%, and HDI= 0.30 in March 2002, increased to HI= 36.7%,CI= 30.8%, BI= 26.0%, and HDI= 0.56 in September 2002.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mengkaji kondisi manajemen usaha bagan, menganalisis penerimaan usaha dan pendapatan nelayan pemilik, menganalisis kelayakan usaha bagan, menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi usaha bagan, dan merumuskan strategi pengembangan usaha bagan di Desa Sathean, Kecamatan Kei Kecil.  Metode yang digunakan terdiri atas survey descriptive (deskriptif survei)dansurvey explanatory (eksplanasi survei). Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa, manajeman usaha penangkapan ikan dengan alat tangkap bagan yang telah berjalan dengan baik adalah manajemen produksi dan manajemen pemasaran, sedangkan manajemen permodalan masih sulit untuk dijalankan. Pendapatan nelayan pemilik usaha bagan di Desa Sathean, Kecamatan Kei Kecil dengan rata-rata 264 trip adalah Rp 282.120.000,- hingga Rp 815.996.000,- atau rata-rata Rp 355.458.000,- tiap unit usaha. Usaha penangkapan ikan dengan alat tangkap bagan di DesaSathean layak untuk diusahakan. Faktor-Faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi usaha bagan adalah frekuensi melaut, biaya operasional, waktu/lama melaut, dan umur. Strategi pengembangan usaha penangkapan ikan dengan alat tangkap bagan di desa Sathean Kecamatan Kei Kecil Kebupaten Maluku tenggara, meliputi: 1). Pengembangan usaha bagan kepada lembaga pemberi kredit untuk menambah modal usaha; 2). Program kebijakan yang diarahkan pada pengembangan teknologi dan jumlah alat tangkap bagan; 3). Pelaksanaan penelitian yang diarahkan pada peningkatan hasil tangkapan usaha, pengelolaan permodalan, ketidak efisiensi penggunaan biaya opersional dan waktu melaut serta pengembangan pemasaran hasil tangkapan bagan; dan 4) Peningkatan fungsi manajemen produksi, yakni mengefisiensikan penggunaan biaya operasional dan waktu melaut, dan manajemen pemasaran.
