Abstract

Kabupaten Situbondo is one of Kabupaten in East Java province that frequently developes dry land of community forest, particularly on the community forest. Model of policy being applied is through reinforcement of community forest farmer group empowerement. However, there are still many obstacles for the implementation in the real field. This condition is believed to be affecting by the level of group dynamics at the farmer group institutional as one of the factor. Being interested on this phenomenon, then research team was attracted to conduct the study in order to find out about the group dynamics on those several dry land smallholder groups. The research was conducted at Village of Tambak Ukir-Kecamatan Kendit. Method of analysis being used is interval class. The research result showed that one of the farmer group has medium dynamic (Jaya Makmur), then two other groups has low dynamic (Karya Tani and Suka Maju), and one of group has very low dynamic (Gua Kembar). Jaya Makmur farmer group is more developed that three other farmer groups because it has dimension objectives of group, group compactness, group structure, duty function of group, development and maintenance of group, situation of group, effectiness of group and also group pressure that relatively more dynamic. Abstract

[ENGLISH] This Study was aimed to determine the effect of Ascophyllum nodosum extract with powder and liquid form on the growth of red lettuce in the field. The experiment is conducted on field trials area of Kyungpook National University, Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea from . The treatments that used are extract powder and liquid form with concentration 0g / l and 4g / l for each treatment . There are four combinations of treatments and each treatment combination was repeated 45 times. The results showed that the extract of seaweed with the concentratio  4g/l proved to provide significant results for most parameters. A. nodosum seaweed extract powder gives the best results on the growth of red lettuce plants compared to extract liquid. Keywords: Ascophyllum nodosum; Extract; Foliar Feeding; Red Lettuce; Seaweed [INDONESIAN] Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pemberian ekstrak Ascophyllum nodosum dengan bentuk serbuk dan cair terhadap pertumbuhan selada merah di lapangan. Penelitian dilakukan pada lahan uji coba Kyungpook National University, Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea Selatan. Perlakuan yang digunakan yaitu ekstrak berbentuk serbuk dan berbentuk cair dengan konsentrasi 0g/l dan 4g/l untuk masing-masing perlakuan. Terdapat 4 kombinasi perlakuan dan masing-masing kombinasi perlakuan diulang sebanyak 45 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak rumput laut dengan konsentrasi 4g/l terbukti memberikan hasil yang signifikan pada sebagian besar parameter. Ekstrak rumput laut A. nodosum berbentuk serbuk memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman selada merah dibandingkan ekstrak berbentuk cair. Abstract

Kabupaten Situbondo is one of Kabupaten in East Java province that frequently developes dry land of community forest, particularly on the community forest-propietary. Model of policy being applied is through reinforcement of community forest farmergroup empowerement. However, there are still many obstacles for the implementation in the real field. This research is aimed to obtain alternative of strategies to solve the problem. The studied items are: (a) what internal and external key factors that cover institutional sphere on farmer group are, and (b) how the alternative strategy formulation can be viewed as effective and efficient (grand strategy) in order to reinforce in sustainably on the empowerment level of farmer group. The approach of analysis being used is matrix analysis of internal and external factors as well as grand strategy of SWOT interaction. Based on the research result, it can be found out that there are 9 factors of internal strengths, 9 factors of internal weaknesses, 7 factors of external opportunity, and there are 4 factors of external threat that cover institutional sphere of those farmer groups. Generally, condition of farmer group institutional is under strong position in the internal, and it can be more effective by utilizing potential of opportunity as well as minimizing the negative effect of existing external threats potential. The Grand strategy for reinforcing the farmer group empowerement in sustainably is by SO strategy. It means that the the superiority potential, namely internal factors should be well-managed so that this can be utilized as strength impeller (trigger/move of rule) in order to obtain the opportunities as well as minimizing negative effect of existing external threat protentials. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui interaksi antara penambahan nutrisi dan tiga varietas terhadap produksi dan kualitas buah melon dan untuk menentukan pengaruh penambahan nutrisi atau mengetahui respons varietas yang berbeda terhadap produksi dan kualitas buah melon. Penelitian ini dilakukan di lahan UPT Agrotekno Park, Universitas Jember, Indonesia mulai dari April sampai Juni 2014. Penelitian ini dirancang dengan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial 3x3, dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama, penambahan nutrisi yang terdiri dari 0 g NPK + ZA 0 g, 1,5 g NPK + ZA 1,5 g, dan 3 g NPK + ZA 3 g. Faktor kedua, varietas melon terdiri dari varietas Glamour, Aromis dan Action 434. Data eksperimen dianalisis menggunakan analisis varians dan dilanjutkan dengan Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) jika ada efek yang signifikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara gizi dan varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar gula buah dan vitamin C. Penambahan nutrisi berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan kualitas buah melon, dosis 3 g pupuk NPK + 3 g ZA menunjukkan dosis terbaik. Varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan kualitas buah melon dan varietas Glamour sebagai varietas terbaik. Kata kunci: Melon, penambahan nutrisi, varietas dan kualitas buah

Abstract

Tebu merupakan akumulator silika yang berarti memerlukan banyak asupan silika. Pupuk silika (Si) dapat berasal dari berbagai sumber dan terobosan teknologi saat ini tersedianya Si dalam bentuk nano. Beberapa varietas tebu unggul baru belum diuji pada lahan marginal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian nano silika terhadap pertumbuhan fase bibit beberapa varietas unggul baru pada tanah entisol. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor pertama aplikasi nano Si (S) terdiri atas aplikasi nano Si 0% (S1) dan aplikasi nano Si 30% (S2). Faktor kedua varietas unggul baru terdiri atas Bululawang (V1), NX-01 (V2), NX-02 (V3), dan VMC 86-550 (V4). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian nano Si tidak berpengaruh nyata pada pertumbuhan tebu fase pembibitan, sedangkan varietas dan interaksi nano Si x V berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan tebu. Varietas VMC 86-550 menunjukkan rata-rata pertumbuhan yang lebih baik pada seluruh variabel pengamatan.

Abstract

Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a type of nut plant originating from America which is widely used as a vegetable and harvested at a younger age, which can be planted at an altitude of approximately 300 masl to above 1000 masl (Rukmana, 1994). The reduction of agricultural land in the city can be one of the problems in the cultivation of home-scale beans, where it is necessary to act on a cultivation system that can be used on a narrow land but the result of productivities are able to meet daily needs. One of them is by using a substrate hydroponic system which is still rarely used for beans since there is no knowledge of farmers about the suitable media types used in the substrate hydroponic system. Other effort that can be made to meet the needs of beans in urban areas is by using superior varieties. One type of beans that is widely cultivated by farmers is the creeping beans, where it can be harvested with a longer period. The purpose of this research is to find out varieties of creeping beans which are able to grow well on the hydroponic media substrate system. By knowing the type of hydroponic media that is good for several varieties of beans, is expected to increase the growth and yield of beans on a land scale that is less extensive or less productive. The experimental design used in this study was a factorial completely randomized design with 3 replications. The data obtained would be analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). If there is significantly different between treatments, the real difference test will be performed with Duncan’s multiple range of 5%. The results showed a combination of treatments between varieties and substrate hydroponic media in the form of cocopeat, husk charcoal and sawdust can affect the number of crop pods, crop pod weight, stover wet weight and stover dry weight. The treatment of using several bean varieties can affect the length of crop pods and the width of crop pods. The use of hydroponic substrate media type is able to affect the height of bean plants. Abstract

The development pattern of sugarcane on the island of Java has shifted to dry land because rice fields are prioritized for other food crops. Dryland generally has low to moderate fertility rates and water availability is a limiting factor. Silicate (Si) is a beneficial nutrient for sugarcane and is absorbed in greater quantities than other nutrients. Si also can avoid damage to plants against abiotic stress such as drought. This study aims to test several new high-yielding sugarcane varieties under drought conditions and their responses to Si fertilization. The design used was three-factor RAK, namely the concentration of nano-silica fertilizer (0%; 30%; 45%), watering intensity (regular watering; no watering from 45 DAS), and new high yielding sugarcane varieties (BL; NX 01; NX 02; NX 03; VMC 86-550). The observation variables included stover fresh weight, root fresh weight, root length, and stover dry weight. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA at a 95% confidence level. If it is significantly different, continue with the 5% LSD test. Based on the results of this study, it was shown that the new superior sugarcane variety, namely VMC 86-550, was drought tolerant, indicated by the best average growth in almost all observed parameters. The concentration of nano-silica fertilizer 45% for 2 times the application showed the best growth of sugarcane. The treatment interaction between drought and variety had a significant effect on the wet weight of stover and root length of sugarcane. Treatment of nano-silica had a significant effect on the dry weight of sugarcane stover.
