Abstract

Teaching language skills in school aims to develop students language skills, one of which is a narrative essay expository writing skills using media beamed images that students are better motivated and able to find the idea for which was written based on what he observed in the glow images. This research is motivated by the following problem. First, the ability of students to write a narrative essay is still lacking. Second, the limited allocation of time to practice narrative writing skills that is 90 minutes. Third, the media used by teachers to teach writing narrative essay is less varied. Fourth, students interest in reading is still lacking. Fifth, students have difficulties when searching for ideas and develop ideas and put them in chronological order. Sixth, students difficult to distinguish between narrative expository essay with suggestive narrative essay.       This study aimed to describe the ability of class XI students of Accounting 2 SMK Negeri 3 Padang writing narrative expository essay using media images beamed in terms of expanding knowledge, convey information chronologically, based on rational reasoning, using language that is informative with emphasis on the use of the words denotative meaningful. This research is quantitative using descriptive methods. Data analysis was performed with the following steps: (1) checking the data, (2) scoring, (3) treating the score value, (4) determine the arithmetic mean, (5)  the ability to classify students by using a scale of 10, (6) make histogram based on the ability of students, (7) to analyze and discuss the results, (8) concludes the analysis.       The results of data per indicators are as follows. (1) 1 indicator (expanding knowledge) is quite an average of 61.71, (2) 2 indicators (conveying information about an event in chronological order) quite well with an average of 86.85, (3) 3 indicators (essay based on rational reasoning) quite well with the average 85.14, (4) 4 indicators (using language that is informative with emphasis on the use of meaningful words denotative) quite well with an average of 84. Based on the results of the values obtained, it can be concluded that the ability of class XI students of Accounting 2 SMK Negeri 3 Padang writing narrative expository essay using media images beamed to the four indicators considered good with an average of 79.42.

Abstract

This study focused on the characterization in the novel Small Letters to God Agnes Davonar work. Formulation of the research problem "How dispositive Analysis in Novel Small Letters to God Agnes Davonar work?           This study uses descriptive analysis . This study collected data descriptive phases: (1) read and understand the novel, (2) marking the novel, and (3) inventory data.Number of characters involved in the novel Small Letters to God Agnes Davonar work as many as 16 people. (1) Keke he has the unyielding nature , full of gratitude, strong , clever , patient , and active. (2) Pak Joddy as a father has unyielding nature, spirit, loyal, and caring. (3) Mr. Iyus as a driver possesses a swift, loyal, and cheerful. (4) Chika as a brother has an independent nature. (5) as the sister Kiki has a good nature. (6) Mothers parental Keke has a loyal nature. (7) as a lover Andi Keke has a loyal nature, and attention. (8) Bibi as domestic servants have a loyal nature. (9) as a neighbor and sister Princess Keke Class yangbaik properties. (10) Fahda as friend Keke has siafat attention and confidence. (1) Shifa as friend Keke has a passionate nature. (12) Angel as a friend Keke has properties that scoffers. (13) Professor Mukhlis as a doctor has a friendly nature , and never give up. Abstract

The research on the background by students difficulties in proposing their ideas while writing short story. Furthermore, the technique of learning which is used by the teachers are not vary. The teachers also are not able to motivate students in helping them to bring up their ideas. According to those problems,  the researcher do the research writing short story by finishing the story technique. The purpose of this research is to describe the capability of SMA Negeri 9 Sijunjung class X students in writing short story. The research is used Semi theory about writing, Thahar theory  about short story, and Tarigan theory about the technique of finishing story.This research is a quantitative research with descriptive method. The population in this research is about 130 students which are dispersed in five classes. Those students are listed in 2012/2013 period. The sample of the research is about 26 students by purposive sampling technique. The researcher choose X.I class as the sample of the research. It is considered by variety of students ability. Later on, the research data is to test ferformance to research the ability writing short story with the technique.According to the result of data analysis, it shows that the ability in writing short story of SMA Negeri 9 Sijunjung students by finishing story technique as (1) students ability in describing the characters in writing short story are classified enough with the avarage of mastery 73.23%, (2) students’ ability in using plot of the story are classified enough with the avarage of mastery 56-65%, (3) students’ ability in using background of the story are classified more than enough with the avarage of mastery 71.92%. As a result, it can be conluded that students’ abitlity in writing short story with finishing story techniqueare classified more than enough with the avarage 67.76% in the stretch of 66.75%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the eight reasons. First, the teaching of writing just described in terms of the theories and practice are less than the maximum. Second, the book learning support is still lacking. Third, only use the lecture method of teaching. Fourth, students are difficult to distinguish and determine the type of essay exposition. Fifth, students are less able to use the Indonesian language is good and true. Sixth, students are less able to express an idea, notion, thought to be written in essay form. Seventh, the study did not use the Indonesian media. Eighth, the number of Indonesian hours only 2 sessions so as to practice writing essays exposition is not maximal. This study aims to describe the exposition essay writing skills by using media flow chart. This type of research is descriptive quantitative method. Population studies class XI student of SMK state 4 Padang, amounting to 294 people. Sample was 31 people. The sampling technique is random sampling. Instruments used performance tests essay writing exposition.Based on the analysis of research data. Perfect qualifications for indicators explain a subject matter in accordance with the object (chart). Qualification for the indicator does not affect the reader. More than enough qualifications to elaborate indicators objects clearly. Excellent qualification for the indicator using the facts. Average exposition essay writing skills of students by using media flow charts good qualification is 85% in the range 76-85%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by a number of behaviors found unusual character in the novel by Dewi Sartika Dadaisme. One of them is sexually deviant behavior. To that end, researchers are interested in doing research on sexual behavior deviant figures in the novel by Dewi Sartika Dadaisme. The purpose of this study is to: (1) to describe gender identity disorder figures in the novel by Dewi Sartika Dadaisme, (2) describe the deviation of sexual activity figures in the novel by Dewi Sartika Dadaisme. This type of research is qualitative. In this study, the method used is descriptive method of analysis. The research was conducted over three months, from February till April 2013. Based on the results of this research is that: (1) types of gender identity disorder are found within the homosexual character. This behavior can be seen in figure Jing and Ken, (2) types of deviance sexual activity character in the novel that is incest and adultery. Incest behavior can be seen in figures Magnos and Aleda, and adultery can be seen in figure Tresna, Asril, and Isabella. Deviant sexual behavior that occurs within the high figure is the result of al-ammara passion that makes the id, ego, and super ego in the figures themselves can not function with a balanced stance that led to rejection of the fate that has been revealed by God to them.

Abstract

The background of this research there are three things: First, lack of interest and attention of students to read poetry with attention to elements of poetry readings. Second, students understand and appreciate the difficulty of reading poetry. Third, no teachers using media, such as videos of poetry readings. This study aims to describe the ability to read poetry class VII student of Junior High School Negeri 2 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok.This research is quantitative and qualitative descriptive method. The study population was all students in class VII Junior High School Negeri 2 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok., totaling 185 students. The sample was numbered VII B class (30 students). Sampling technique, which aims sample (purposive sample). This research instrument is the use of performance tests conducted by a choice of three poetry titles that have been previously determined .Based on the analysis of data, it can be seen that a qualifying acquisition of the average value of the ability to read poetry class VII B Junior High School Negeri 2 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok, viewed from the aspect of rhythm is more than enough qualifications to the acquisition value of the average 72 %, judging from aspect of the volume is in good qualification with an average acquisition value of 87 %. Aspect of this volume include the category obtained the highest level of mastery students. An examination of the expression is the value of qualified enough to gain an average of 57 % and kinesik seen from the aspect of the content of the poem is in accordance with the qualifying acquisition is less with an average value of 43 %. Generally located on more than enough qualifications to the acquisition of the average value of 2.075/30 = 69 % with a range ( 66-75 %).Therefore, it is expected to Indonesian language and literature teachers to improve their learning and reading poetry teacher should use instructional media when reading poetry, such as video displays poetry readings , in order to motivate students to read. Students are also expected to continue to practice reading poetry, so the ability to read a poem using rhythm, volume, expression, and kinesik is in perfect qualifications.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the values of moral Marja character in the novel Manjali and Cakrabirawa works Ayu Utami. The values associated with: (1) conscience, (2) freedom and responsibility, (3) the rights and obligations, (4) values and norms. This research is qualitative research. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. Results of this study are the moral values associated with Marja figures: (1) conscience can be seen from the attitude the Marja has been two-timing guilt password Yuda, (2) freedom and responsibility can be seen from the attitude of Marja in the association of free and used sleep with the ooposite sex, (3) the rights and obligations can be seen from Marja desire to learn the history of science, (4) the values and norms can be seen from the attitude Banaspatih Marja who believe the myth. Based on these results we can some suggestions as follows: (1) teachers, especially in literary appreciation that learning can moral values to students on how to behave, act, and how to interact in society, (2) the reader, can increase understanding of the literature, (3) further research, can do research on this novel with a different aspect or aspects of the same with a different novel.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan mengenai keunikan watak tokoh utama dalam novel Perahu Kertas karya Dewi Lestari. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan watak tokoh utama novel Perahu kertas Karya Dewi Lestari. Penelitian ini difokuskan kepada watak tokoh utama novel Perahu Kertas Karya Dewi Lestari. Watak tokoh utama tersebut yang berhubungan dengan tiga aspek jiwa yaitu: (1) emosional, (2) secundair (pengiring), (3) aktif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah  metode deskriptif analisis. Data dalam  penelitian ini berupa kata-kata, kalimat dan dialog yang berhubungan dengan watak tokoh utama. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Perahu Kertas karya Dewi Lestari. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian  dapat diketahui bahwa watak tokoh utama yang ditemukan melalui tiga aspek jiwa tersebut yaitu: (1) emosional memiliki sifat mudah marah dan fantasinya kuat, (2) secundair (pengiring) memiliki sifat  konsekuen, setia dalam persahabatan, betah di rumah, (3) aktif memiliki sifat  mudah bertindak, riang gembira, dan mudah mengatasi kesulitan.

Abstract

This research the purpose of this research to describe Islam value’s deviation in Orang-orang Blanti’s  novel work by Wisran Hadi. The Islam value relate with: (1) Islam value’s deviation which interrelated whit moral  in novel of Orang-orang Blanti that a by work Wisran Hadi, (2) Islam value’s deviation which interrelatet whit fait in novel Orang-orang Blanti that a work by Wisran Hadi, (3) Islam value’s deviation which interrelatet whit Islam law in novel Orang-orang Blanti that a work by Wisran Hadi. The type of this research is qualitative research. Medhod base of research analysis is found Islam value’s deviation is based on moral, faith, Islam law.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh bahasa sebagai alat untuk menciptakan karya. Adapun masalah yang ditemukan adalah untuk melihat “Bagaimanakah analisis gaya bahasa dalam novel Kekuatan Cinta karya Sastri Bakry yang berkaitan dengan gaya bahasa yang berpusat pada kata dan kalimat?”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan analisis gaya bahasa dalam novel Kekuatan Cinta karya Sastri Bakry yang berkaitan dengan gaya bahasa yang berpusat pada kata dan kalimat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Data yang diperoleh dideskripsikan lalu dianalisis untuk memperoleh gaya bahasa yang terdapat dalam novel Kekuatan Cinta karya Sastri Bakry. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa Kekuatan Cinta karya Sastri Bakry digunakan beberapa gaya bahasa. Gaya bahasa tersebut yaitu: (1) gaya yang berpusat pada kata yang menyangkut penggunaan kata dalam karya sastra, gaya bahasa tersebut meliputi  gaya bahasa tak resmi dan gaya bahasa percakapan. (2) gaya yang berpusat pada kalimat meliputi klimaks, antiklimaks, paralelisme, antitesis dan repetisi. Pada novel Kekuatan Cinta pengarang lebih dominan menggunakan gaya bahasa percakapan untuk mengungkapkan pikiran atau gagasannya agar pembaca memahami apa yang disampaikan oleh pengarang dan gaya bahasa tersebut juga menjadi style tersendiri bagi Sastri Bakry.
