Abstract

The study aimed to identify variations in morphological and molecular character of sugarcane mutants from the mutation of Ethyl Methane Sulphonate (EMS). It used 21 sugarcane mutants and two non-mutant PS865 plants as controls. The treatments with inundation were carried out on 1-17 mutants and non-mutants, while the treatments without inundation were carried out on 18-21 mutant plants and non-mutants. The tolerance characteristics base on the agronomic characters. The RAPD molecular character was observed to detect changes in genotypes and kinship relationships of the plants tested. The results showed that the characteristics of tolerance to the best inundation were found in mutants 1, mutants 3 and mutants 6 which were characterized by the root volume (cm3), fresh root weight (g), sucrose content and brix value (%). Mutant plants treated with inundation showed higher levels of sucrose and brix values. Whereas the control plants in fats, showed lower levels of sucrose and brix. Changes in sugarcane mutant genotypes from non-mutants based on RAPD markers ranged from 14.7 - 56.7 % which resulted in an average polymorphic band of 35.1 % from 37 DNA bands and produced four main groups based on dendrogram analysis.

Abstract

[ENGLISH] The experiment was conducted in the Field Research, in Kumendung village, Muncar, Banyuwangi from November 2012 until February 2013. The objectives of the study was to evaluate the effect of NPK fertilizer in some accession of maize on it’s growth and production. It’s also evaluate the protein content of the accession under different fertilizer treatment. The experiment was set up as a split plot design with three replications. Main plot were NPK aplication rates (200, 300, 400 kg NPK ha-1) and the sub-plots were accesion number ( V1 = Srikandi Kuning x Manado Merah ; V2 = Bisma x Srikandi Kuning ; V3 = Srikandi Kuning x Bisma ; and V4 = Bisma x Manado Merah). An split plot statistical analysis of varience (ANOVA) and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5 % level of probability according to Hanafiah, (2005) was realized using the excel program. Growth and yield parameters recorded at different stages of crop growth and development. There were plant height, leaves number above the ear, leaves number under the ear, tassel emergence, silk emergence, physiologically ripe age, ear lenghth, ear weight, ear circumference, ear weight per plot, kernel weight, kernel weight per plot, 100-grain weight, and protein content. The result showed that no significant different affected by the defferent NPK application rates on these accession. Base on the character selection, the yielding of all accession were higher than Bisma variety. Content of the accession were 11,14 ; 10,25 ; 10,95 ; and 10,10 mg g-1 for V1, V2, V3, and V4, respectively. Keywords: NPK Fertilizer; Maize accession; Production [INDONESIAN] Penelitian dilakukan di lahan Desa Kumendung Kecamatan Muncar Kabupaten Banyuwangi pada bulan November 2012 hingga Febuari 2013. Tujuan dari percobaan ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh pupuk NPK terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi beberapa Aksesi jagung, dan mengevaluasi kadar protein yang terkandung didalamnya. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Split Plot dengan tiga ulangan. Petak utama adalah Pupuk NPK (200, 300, 400 kg NPK ha-1) dan sub-plot adalah aksesi jagung (V1 = Srikandi Kuning x Manado Merah, V2 = Bisma x Srikandi Kuning, V3 = Srikandi Kuning x Bisma, dan V4 = Bisma x Manado Merah). Hasil percobaan dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis varian (ANOVA) dan Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) pada taraf α 5% (Hanafiah, 2005) dengan menggunakan program excel. Parameter pengamatan meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun atas dan dibawah tongkol jagung, umur berbunga jantan, umur berbungan betina, umur masak fisiologis, berat tongkol per petak (kg), berat pipilan per petak (kg), berat tongkol per tanaman (g), panjang tongkol isi (cm), lingkar tongkol (cm), berat 100 biji per tanaman (g), dan kandungan protein biji jagung (mg g-1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang nyata antar perlakuan yang dicobakan pada parameter yang diamati. Perlakuan penambahan pupuk NPK tidak menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata pada semua parameter. Berdasarkan pemilihan karakter, semua aksesi terpilih lebih tinggi dibanding varietas Bisma. Kandungan protein rata-rata aksesi yang diuji yaitu 11,14 ; 10,25 ; 10,95 ; dan 10,10 mg g-1 masing-masing untuk V1, V2, V3, dan V4. Abstract

Swasembada gula 2014 dapat dicapai jika terdapat peningkatan potensi bobot dan rendemen tebu di lahan.Potensi tebu optimal jika berasal dari sumber benih yang optimal. Sumber benih yang optimal dapat diperolaeh dari teknik kultur jaringan. Benih hasil kultur jaringan terbebas dari hama penyakit. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh varietas dan jarak tanam terhadap karakteristik agronomi tebu hasil kultur jaringan. Penelitian disusun menurut percobaan berfaktor 4x3 dengan tiga ulangan menggunakan rancangan Split Plot Design (Rancangan Petak Terbagi).Dua faktor perlakuan yang diuji yaitu jarak tanam (P) dan varietas (V) tebu.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jarak tanam optimal untuk tanam tebu yaitu (100 x 50) cm. Varietas yang berpotensi untuk menghasilkan rendemen optimum adalah PS 881. Varietas yang berpotensi memberikan tonase optimum yaitu PS 862.Kata kunci :  Benih, kultur jaringan, varietas, mata tunas.

Abstract

     An experiment to study the inheritance of sweetness in sweet corn has been conducted since May to October 2004 in Arjasa, Jember region and at Seed Technology Laboratory of Agricultural Faculty – University of Jember. Randomized Complete Block Design with sub-sample was used in this study and four replicates.     The result showed that genotypes had significantly different on all observed parameters and sugar content heritability value is 20.33%. The gene that determines sweetness had a  linkage with wrinkled seed type character. Self-fertilization of sweet corn produced 100% wrinkled seeds. It indicated that wrinkled seed was controlled by recessive homozygous gene.  On the other hand, self-fertilization of smooth seed produced two ear types, the first type was 100% smooth seed, which meant that it was controlled by dominance homozygous gene; the other produced smooth seed and wrinkled seed by 3:1 ratio, indicated that it was controlled by heterozygous gene. Key words: sweet corn, sweetness, heritability.

Abstract

Women picking coffee workers have a big enough role in all lines. However, the level of education and knowledge is still relatively low. It occupies a subordinate and marginally positioned position. This research aims to find the empowerment of women’s coffee picking labourers through the process of functional literacy programs. The existence of the program is expected to improve women’s empowerment The study was designed with a qualitative approach. Researchers use two primary types of data (1) Primer, i.e. data obtained by researchers directly from speakers as informers who are directly related to the empowerment of the local potential coffee-picking labour. Primary data sources of research using interviewing techniques and observation techniques (2) secondary, are supplementary research data that will be obtained through reports in the form of learning activities, documents, and textbooks relevant to the purpose of research. Before processing, the collected primary data is checked for the validity of the data. In this case, it is used triangulation technique, to be processed and analyzed by the technique of Gender Analysis Pathway (GAP). Where the gender engineering pathway analysis is used to analyse the policy of development programs, in this case, is a functional literacy program. The results showed that there was an increase in the empowerment of female coffee picking labours through a functional literacy program based on local wisdom. Reading, writing and counting ability can realize women have an unworthy job. The re-formulation of the learning design conducted through functional literacy programmes became the main thing for working women picking coffee in recognizing local potentials designed in accordance with local characteristics. The design of attention-learning to local potentials has become a key thing in enhancing the power of women so that it can find the resources that are based in everyday life.

Abstract

The content of cauliflower is very beneficial for the human body, it encourages many people to consume these plants. But it isn’t matched by the amount of production, productivity and harvesting area of cauliflower plants whose development is fluctuating and tends to decrease, so that cultivation innovations are needed in terms of the varieties and fertilizers used. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the response and results of various types of NPK compound fertilizer in the lowland. The trial was conducted in Kalirejo Village, Dringu Subdistrict, Probolinggo. Manufacturing time in February until May 2018. The experiment used a 4 x 4 factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) model and repeated three times. The first factor is the Cauliflower varieties, namely PM 126 F1 (V1), Orient (V2), Diamond 40 (V3), and Holly (V4). The second factor is the dose of NPK compound fertilizer, namely 0 (P0), 3.72 (P1), 7.44 (P2) and 11.16 grams / plant (P3). The results of the experiment showed that the response between cauliflower varieties and NPK compound fertilizer had a significant effect on the parameters of weight of cauliflower with the best combination of Diamond 40 varieties with NPK 7.44 grams / plant compound fertilizer dosage (V3P2). Orient varieties provide the best response to growth and yield of cauliflower. The dosage of compound fertilizer NPK 7.44 grams / plant can increase the growth and yield of cauliflower

Abstract

Tanaman pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.)  merupakan sayuran yang digemari oleh masyarakat Indonesia dan dibutuhkan sepanjang waktu. Budidaya pakcoy dengan sistem hidroponik, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas hasil tanaman pakcoy.  Tujuan dari percobaan ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kombinasi pupuk terbaik antara aplikasi unsur makro dan mikro dari pupuk majemuk NPK dan Mikronutrien Growmore. Percobaan dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni sampai Juli 2021 di Kecamatan Turen, Malang. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan 2 faktor dan diulang tiga kali. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi pupuk NPK terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu P1, P2 dan P3. Faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi pupuk micronutrient Growmore Solube Mix terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu M0, M1, M2. Pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman dinilai dari variabel tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, rata-rata luas daun, berat basah tajuk, berat kering tajuk, berat basah akar dan berat kering akar. Seluruh variabel pengamatan dianalisis menggunakan uji F, dan perbedaan dari setiap perlakuan dan atau interaksi antar perlakuan diuji dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan dengan taraf kepercayaan 95 persen.  Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan terdapat interaksi yang sangat nyata antara Pemberian Pupuk NPK dan Pupuk Growmore Solube Micromix terhadap tinggi tanaman. Kombinasi pupuk NPK dengan konsentrasi 758 ppmm dan mikronutrien Growmore 50 ppm memberikan hasil terbaik pada tinggi tanaman (17,97 cm). Pemberian pupuk NPK dengan konsentrasi 553 ppm cenderung memberikan hasil yang lebih baik dari perlakuan lainnya. Sementara itu, konsentrasi pupuk mikronutrien Growmore 50 ppm, cenderug memberikan hasil yang lebih baik dari perlakuan lainnya.

Abstract

Tingkat konsumsi selada oleh masyarakat semakin meningkat namun jumlah produksi selada semakin menurun setiap tahunnya. Daerah perkotaan yang tidak memiliki lahan pekarangan dapat menerapkan sistem bertanam sayuran didalam pot dengan menggunakan media tanam selain tanah seperti pasir, arang sekam, serbuk kayu. Aplikasi PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) digunakan untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan selada. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kombinasi perlakuan komposisi media tanam dan dosis PGPR serta pengaruh tunggalnya yang mmberikan hasil terbaik dalam meningkatkan produksi selada. Percobaan dilaksanakan mulai bulan November 2019 sampai Januari 2020 di Desa Sidomulyo, Kecamatan Silo, Kabupaten Jember pada ketinggian tempat 560 mdpl. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) faktorial campuran terdiri atas dua faktor. Faktor pertama komposisi media tanam dengan perbandingan pasir:arang sekam:serbuk kayu, terdiri dari: (M0) 1:1:1;(M1) 2:1:1; (M2) 1:2:1 dan (M3) 1:1:2. Faktor kedua adalah dosis PGPR (P) yang terdiri dari: (P0) 0 ml; (P1) 100 ml; dan (P2) 200 ml; (P3) 300 ml. Variabel pengamatan yaitu tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, panjang akar, berat segar dan berat kering tanaman. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bah-wa terdapat pengaruh dari kombinasi perlakuan dan masing-masing perlakuan. Kombinasi perlakuan antara komposisi media tanam 1 kg pasir: 1 kg arang sekam: 2 kg serbuk kayu dan dosis PGPR 300 ml mampu meningkatkan jumlah berat segar tanaman dan berat kering tanaman. Perlakuan  dosis PGPR 300 ml mampu meningkatkan jumlah daun pada tanaman selada Perlakuan komposisi media tanam 1 kg pasir: 1 kg arang sekam: 2 kg serbuk kayu mampu memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter tinggi tanaman dan perlakuan kompo-sisi media tanam 2 kg pasir: 1 kg arang sekam: 1 kg serbuk kayu dapat meningkatkan panjang akar tanaman.

Abstract

Osteoporosis can be prevented by consuming calcium lactate. Calcium that is consumed is generally in a micro-size. Micro-sized calcium is only absorbed by the body by about 50% which can cause deficiency. Eggshells are poultry waste that is rich in calcium and can be used as a cheap source of dietary calcium through nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has been developed to increase calcium absorption. This study aimed to synthesize nano-calcium lactate from chicken eggshells,and commercial calcium oxide by precipitation method. Synthesis was carried out by reacting a solution of 1 mol/L eggshell calcium oxide and commercial calcium oxide (control) as much as 20 ml mixed with a solution of 6 mol/L lactic acids as much as 30 ml with a ratio of 1:1.5 (v/v) for 30 minutes at 50°C at a speed of 500 rpm/minute using a magnetic stirrer. Ethanol 50% was added as much as 20 ml (v/v), oven-dried at 105°C for 72 hours then crushed to produce eggshell nano-calcium lactate (NCaL) powder. Characterisation of NCaL using Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Result showed that NCaL in the form of white crystals could be synthesized from chicken eggshells by precipitation method. Characterization with XRD showed that the diffraction angle was 2θ with the peaks of NCaL, namely 9.3800°, 10.3869°, and 22.9570°. Characterization with FTIR obtained a peak in the wavenumber from NCaL, namely 1,589.34 cm-1. Characterization using TEM showed that the crystal size of NCaL was 75 nm.

Abstract

The business expansion of sugarcane can be done using marginal land, such as wet land. This study attempted to get the right doses of ZA fertilizer applied to several sugarcane cultivars, which are tolerant to flooding in two different locations. The research was carried out in Jubung Agrotechnopark garden,  University of Jember and seed gardens of Dewisri Bondowoso, from November 2015 to November 2016. The experiment was arranged in factorial randomized complete block design. The first factor was the doses of ZA fertilizer, consisting of 3 levels of treatment, i.e. 0 kg.ha-1 (without ZA fertilizer), 500 kg.ha-1 and 1000 kg.ha-1. The second factor was 4 sugarcane cultivars,  consisting of flood-tolerant sugarcane cultivars from 2014 screening result, i.e. PSJT 941, Bulu Lawang, PS 865 and Kidang Kencana. The results showed that the application of ZA fertilizer at 1000 kg.ha-1 affected the height of stems, the number of tillers, diameter of the stem and the number of segments. Meanwhile, the application of ZA fertilizer at 500 kg.ha-1 affected the number of leaves, fresh weight of shoots, dry weight of shoots, fresh weight of roots, dry weight of roots, brix content, and the content of sucrose and reducing sugar. Flood-tolerant sugarcane cultivars are shown by the highest brix and sucrose fertilizer, observed in  PS 865, Bulu Lawang, PSJT 941, and Kidang Kencana, sequentially. The highest content of reducing sugar was found in PSJT 941, PS 865, Kidang Kencana, and Bulu Lawang, successively.
