Abstract

Acid upland smectitic soil is identified by high amount of exchangeable Al due to the weathering of aluminum (Al) octahedral layer by H+ saturation and by very low phosphorus (P) status.  Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and calcium silicate (CaSiO3) were commonly used to decrease exchangeable Al and increase soil pH.  Laboratory experiments were conducted with clayey smectitic Typic Paleudults from Gajrug region, West Java.  The CaCO3 and CaSiO3 were added at rates to replace 0, 1.5 or 3 times of exchangeable Al. After one month of incubation, P sorption kinetic experiments were conducted.   The changes in some chemical properties after one month incubation showed that both CaCO3 and CaSiO3 increased the soil pH, exchangeable Ca, and base saturation  but did not increase the cation exchange capacity.  The results of the experiment showed that both CaCO3 and CaSiO3 decreased the rate constant value of first order kinetic equation (k) and the P sorbed maximum (a) at given amount of added P compared to Control.The CaCO3 was better than CaSiO3 in decreasing k values and on the contrary for a values. The decrease in P maximum sorption and the rate constant of the soil amended with CaSiO3 and CaCO3 due to occupation of P sorption sites by silicates and hydroxyl ions. The CaCO3with the rate to replace 1.5 x exchangeable Al was recommended to decrease the rate constant of P sorption. However, the CaSiO3 at the rate to replace 3 x exchangeable Al was recommended to decrease the maximum P sorption.

Abstract

Productivity of pepper in Bangka Belitung Province has decreased because one of the causes is the problem of the low nutrient availability. The research was conducted in Bangka Belitung Province to determine the distribution of pH, exchangeable aluminium (Exch Al), and available phosphorus (P) and the correlation among those parameters. Soil samples at depths of 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm were collected at the specified points on a 1: 250,000 scale land system map. The pH was determined by shaking the soil sample with distilled water and the ratio of soil sample and distilled water was 1:5. Exch Al was extracted using 1.00 mol L-1 KCl and determined by titration. Available P was determined using the Bray 1 method. Basic statistic analyses to have minimum, maximum, average and standar deviation (SD) values were conducted. Correlation test among pH, exch Al, and available P to evaluate their relationship were also conducted. The results showed that soils in Bangka Belitung were relatively acid, relatively high exch Al especially in the depth of 0-30 cm and relatively low available P as Bray 1-P. Bray 1-P and exch Al on the depth of 0-30 cm had higher SD than that of the other paramaters. As for correlation analyses, pH significantly negatively correlated with exch Al. pH and exch Al did not correlate with Bray 1-P. This research suggested that soil in Bangka Belitung had problem with soil acidity and low amount of available P in the form of Bray 1-P. The amount of Bray 1-P did not correlate with the amount of exch Al.

Abstract

The aims of the study are to find out the influence of the following factors to the occupational health and safety (OHS) implementation perception: knowledge, attitude, working environment conditions, and all the three factors together. This research used the ex-post facto method. The population is 95 students. Data were collected using tests, questionnaire, and observation. Data were analyzed using regression analysis. The results show these following influences to the OHS implementation perception:  knowledge 5.6%, attitude 7%, and working environment conditions 8.3%. The combined knowledge, attitude, and working environment conditions have influenced the OHS implementation perception by 15.2%.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengetahuan terhadap persepsi penerapan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja, pengaruh sikap, kondisi lingkungan kerja, pengetahuan terhadap persepsi penerapan K3. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode ex- post facto. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 95 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, kuesioner dan observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengetahuan berpengaruh terhadap persepsi penerapan K3 sebesar 5,6%. Sikap berpengaruh positif terhadap persepsi penerapan K3 sebesar 7%. Kondisi lingkungan kerja berpengaruh positif terhadap persepsi penerapan K3 sebesar 8,3%. Pengetahuan, sikap dan kondisi lingkungan kerja secara bersama- sama berpengaruh terhadap persepsi penerapan K3 sebesar 15,2%.

Abstract

Percobaan mengenai evaluasi perubahan fraksi-fraksi fosfor (P) karena pemberian kotoran sapi pada budidaya jagung dilaksanakan di desa Cibadung Gunung Sindur, Jawa Barat. Dosis kotoran sapi yang digunakan adalah 0, 10, 20, dan 40 ton ha-1. Percobaan dilakukan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan tiga ulangan. Pengambilan contoh tanah dilakukan setelah dua minggu inkubasi dan setelah panen. Contoh tanah diambil di rhizosfer dan antar baris tanaman. Perubahan fraksi-fraksi P dievaluasi dari hasil pengurangan nilai suatu fraksi P pada saat panen dengan nilai suatu fraksi P setelah dua minggu inkubasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kotoran sapi nyata meningkatkan fraksi resin-Pi, fraksi NaHCO3-Pi dan NaOH-Pi. Nilai fraksi-fraksi P tersebut pada saat panen lebih tinggi di rhizosfer dibandingkan dengan nilai fraksi-fraksi P di antar baris tanaman. Perubahan resin-Pi di rhizosfer dan antar baris tanaman adalah negatif yang menunjukkan bahwa resin-Pi telah bertransformasi ke fraksi P yang lain. Perubahan fraksi NaHCO3-Pi dan NaOH-Pi tidak konsisten positif baik di rhizosfer dan antar baris tanaman dengan meningkatnya dosis kotoran sapi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pengambilan P oleh tanaman, pelepasan P dan transformasi P ke bentuk yang lebih stabil mempengaruhi jumlah peningkatan fraksi NaHCO3-Pi dan NaOH-Pi.

Abstract

The effect of calcium silicate CaSiOJ the phosphorus (P) sorption characteristics were studied in Andisols Lembang.The amount of 0, 2.5 and 5% CaSiOJ (calcium silicate) or 0, 7.5 and 15 g calcium silicate per pot was added to the 300 g(oven-dry weight) soil and incubated for one month. A completely randomized design in double replication was set up. After one month incubation, P sorption and P sorption kinetic experiments were conducted The results of P sorption experiment showed that P sorption data were satisfactorily described by the Langmuir equation. which was used to determine P sorption maxima, bonding energies and P sorbed at 0.2 mg P £"' (standard P requirement). The application of calcium silicate did not affect significantly P sorption maxima but decreased significantly the P bonding energies. Calcium silicate also decreased significantly the standard P requirements. As for P sorption kinetic experiment. the results showed that application of 5% calcium silicate decreased significantly the rate constant of P sorption and P sorbed maximum at given amount of added P. The results suggested that the application of calcium silicate to the Andisols made added P was more available for plant.

Abstract

DOC fluxes were studied within soil profiles on forest toposequences transect of Bukit Dua Belas National Park and Harapan Forest, Jambi, Indonesia. DOC concentration was determined using NPOC (Non Purgeable Organic Carbon) method.  Amount and DOC flux from soil horizons on the lower slope was significantly higher than that from the middle and the upper slopes. Amount and DOC flux from AO soil horizon was significantly higher than that from AB and B soil horizons.  DOC was maximally accumulated from AO soil horizon of soil profile on lower slope during rainy season.

Abstract

The research on comparative governance of non-profit organization (organisasi nir laba/ ONL) in case study on social welfare institution (lembaga kesejahteraan social/ LKS) of Mardi Wuto dan Hamba in Yogyakarta Indonesia aimed at finding out the difference of the governance model and practice of both LKS and the uniqueness of each LKS. LKS was one of non-profit organizations in Indonesia. The empirical data were obtained and the finding was described and interpreted based on qualitative case study. The interpretation was related to the normative expectation on the design and implementation of the management of both non profit organizations. The research finding of ONL Mardiwuto was that it had bureaucratic governance model indicated by the good interaction and relation of the stakeholders, as the value management stated on articles of association. Meanwhile, ONL Hamba had democratic governance model indicated by the very good interaction and relation of the stakeholders, beyond the value management stated on articles of association. The weakness of the research was that the sample was still limited. Then, for the future research, it was suggested that the sample would be more various, and the implication of the research was it could be a reflection material for the decision makers and the managers of ONL.

Abstract

This research of responsibility in the framework of good corporate governance aims to know the responsibility principles in the framework of good corporate governance and governance model of social welfare institution (LKS) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). This type of study is a case study. The type of research conducted is descriptive qualitative, that is the researchers give an idea about the responsibility principles in the framework of good corporate governance of social welfare institution in DIY. The result of the research shows that there are fie responsibility principles which happened to social welfare institution in DIY and there are fie governance models of social welfare institution in DIY. Although the study was conducted for 8 years, this study still has weaknesses. It is advisable for further research to analyze thecorrelation between indicators of good corporate governance. The implications of the research are used as a reflection for policymakers, managers of LKS and donors.

Abstract

Penggunaan pupuk urea dan pupuk kandang yang berlebihan oleh petani menyebabkan terjadinya akumulasi ion nitrat pada tanah pertanian. Pengetahuan tentang kemampuan tanah dalam mengerap nitrat menjadi sangat penting dalam kaitan pergerakan nitrat di dalam profil tanah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah karakterisasi tanah-tanah pertanian yang mempunyai order Andisol di Pulau Jawa dalam mengerap nitrat dan mengidentifikasi sifat-sifat tanah yang mempengaruhi erapan nitrat. Data erapan nitrat diperoleh dengan menjenuhkan tanah dengan larutan nitrat pada berbagai konsentrasi, setelah sebelumnya tanah dijenuhi dengan ion klorida. Nitrat dalam larutan supernatan ditetapkan menggunakan UV Spectrophotometer dengan panjang gelombang 210 nm dan 275 nm. Kemudian, data dianalisis menggunakan dua persamaan yaitu, persamaan Langmuir dan persamaan Freundlich. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa erapan nitrat dapat disimulasikan paling baik oleh persamaan Freundlich. Nilai konstanta K persamaan Freundlich yang merupakan indeks erapan maksimum berkorelasi positif dengan karbon (C) organik, aluminium yang diekstrak dengan amonium oksalat (Alo), aluminium yang diekstrak dengan dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate (Ald) dan Alo+1/2Feo (sifat Andik). Penelitian ini merekomendasikan bahwa C organik, Alo, Ald dan sifat Andik mengontrol erapan nitrat.
