Abstract

Pemanfaatannya buah kelapa di Wilayah Sumatera Selatan masih terbatas pada olahan buah kelapa saja sebagai bahan baku pembuatan minyak kelapa dan kebutuhan rumah tangga. Tempurung kelapa sebagai limbah pertanian, jika diolah dengan baik maka akan menjadi sumber nafkah, karena tempurung kelapa memiliki potensi yang baik untuk digunakan sebagai bahan baku industri, salah satunya asap cair (liquefied smoke). Penelitian tentang pembuatan dan pemanfaatan asap cair (liquefied smoke) telah banyak dilakukan sebelumnya namun memiliki banyak kelemahan, diantaranya kurang efektif dan efisien, biaya produksi yang mahal serta sulit pengoperasiaannya. Oleh karena itu, dalam penelitian ini diusulkan pembuatan alat pembuat asap cair yang lebih sederhana, murah dan efisien dengan pengaturan tekanan udara panas mengunaakan teknik modifikasi gate valve. Alat pembuat asap cair yang telah dimodifikasi telah diuji coba dan mampu meningkatkan hasil produksi asap cair 59,3 % pada suhu 2000 C.

Abstract

Mesin adalah tulang punggung proses produksi, oleh sebab itu kondisi mesin melalui maintenance harus dijaga supaya tetap dalam keadaan optimum. Peran teknologi informasi sangat diperlukan sebagai alat bantu menjaga kondisi optimum mesin-mesin yang ada, misalnya melalui software yang disebut Sistim Informasi Manajemen (SIM). Di dalam laporan akhira ini peneliti merencanakan pembuatan SIM yang didalam pengaplikasiaannya akan diterapkan di Bengkel Produksi Jurusan Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya Palembang yang disebut dengan Sistim Informasi Preventive Maintenance (SIPM) dengan menggabungkan teori Preventive Maintenan (PM) dan sistem Database. Proses perancangan software menggunakan metode Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), yang meliputi: plan, analisa, desain, implementasi dan testing. Alat pengembang yang digunakan adalah Microsoft Access 2010 beserta bahasa pemrograman Visual Basic for Application (VBA).

Abstract

Forest fires are one that needs attention in Indonesia. Due to spent a lot of money to solve this problem. One of the tools to solve this problem is fire fighter, so in case is need to make the fixture can manufacture the fire fighter kit. In this study, we propose the fixture that can be produce the kit. It call fixture fire fighter kit. Autodesk inventor is applied in the simulation design and also it is considering with the ergonomic for the worker especially the Indonesian male. Finally, this tool can be resistant with load 50 kg, the deflection is 0.831 mm, and the maximum von misses stress is 34.12 MPa.

Abstract

As it is known that the construction of high-rise buildings requires a tool in the form of a JIB Crane, which is used to transport materials from the bottom to the top. This JIB Crane is installed at the top of the tall building. In this case to design this tool requires welding and also a hook that is able to withstand the load being transported and moved. In this plan, the material must be chosen and also careful calculations for certain parts such as welded joints. In this study, a JIB Crane was designed with an electric drive to carry a load of 600 kg. And based on the calculations obtained, the load supported by the construction of the JIB Crane design is able to withstand the load where the load from the design is greater than the load that occurs.

Abstract

The rubber tapping knives produced by blacksmiths have cracks and chipped and even broken on their blades, so rubber farmers must often replace them with new knives. Thus the product cannot be used for a long time and has reduced economic value. The cause of this rubber tapping knives made by blacksmiths is easily damaged because the gilding method on the product is not done properly. So the product was produced have a relatively low level of hardness. This study aims to determine the effect of the hardening and quenching process on the hardness of rubber tapping knives made by blacksmiths. Data of test were analyzed using ANOVA with full factorial level design, main effect model design, and 3 replications assisted with Design-Expert software. At a temperature of 800℃, the maximum hardness value of 62,8 HRC obtained from the quenching results using a water cooling media, while the minimum hardness value of 62,2 HRC was obtained from oil cooling media. At a temperature of 850℃ the maximum hardness value of 60,4 HRC obtained from the quenching results using water cooling media, and the minimum hardness value obtained from the oil cooling media is 59,1 HRC.

Abstract

Pengelasan tidak hanya menghangatkan sampai kedua bagian benda menjadi lunak dan mengeras kembali, tetapi juga memberikan zat tambahan atau anoda selama pemanasan untuk membuat las tetap utuh dan mencapai kekuatan yang ideal. Pengelasan dapat dibagi menjadi dua klasifikasi, yang pertama adalah pengelasan impermeabel dan pengelasan fusible. Pengelasan kombinasi menggunakan panas untuk melarutkan bagian-bagian yang akan disambung. Kekuatan sambungan las dipengaruhi oleh beberapa elemen, yaitu sistem pengelasan, material, katoda, dan jenis las yang digunakan. Bagaimana elastisitas jaringan baja ST 37 dengan proses pengelasan SMAW (Protected Metal Bend Welding) dan TIG (Gas Tungsten Circular segment Welding). Motivasi di balik tinjauan ini adalah untuk memutuskan elastisitas tes yang dilas dengan strategi yang berbeda, mendapatkan kekuatan dari sistem pengelasan, menguji hasil las solidaritasnya, dan pemeriksaan kualitas las SMAW dan GTAW. Jenis yang digunakan adalah sambungan pantat dengan klip V tunggal, dan bentuk dan ukuran contoh adalah sesuai ASTM E8/E 8M-09. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan jenis pengelasan mempengaruhi tekanan. kekuatan. Kekakuan terbesar dari pengelasan SMAW adalah 646,04 N/mm2 dan elastisitas dasar adalah 173,52 N/mm2. Pengelasan TIG memiliki kekakuan terbesar 191,03N/mm2 dan elastisitas dasar 157,06N/mm2.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the quenching process that uses used oil as a cooling medium with temperature variations of 750oC, 850oC, and 900oC with a holding time of 30 and 40 minutes to the hardness of the eye of the brongsong crowbar which is often subjected to dullness. The main material used by the people of Sukadana village in making this brongsong crowbar is pipa carbon steel ASTM A106 grade B. This pipe belongs to medium carbon steel because it has a carbon element of 0.30%. After the heat treatment process of the brongsong crowbar specimen, hardness testing was carried out using a rockwell hardness test tool. The results of the hardness test were analyzed using ANOVA calculations. From the results of this study, it was found that the brongsong crowbar specimen experienced an increase in hardness, with the highest hardness value of 52.6 HRC obtained from the quenching process using used oil as a cooling medium and with a holding time of 40 minutes at a temperature of 850oC, while the lowest hardness value is obtained from the results of the quenching process using used oil cooling media with a holding time of 30 minutes at a temperature of 750oC of 38.8 HRC. So that it can be known that the highest hardness value is obtained from the results of the quenching process using used oil cooling media with a holding time of 40 minutes at a temperature of 850oC.

Abstract

PT. X is a company that manufactures sugar. The situation of firm X cannot be described as ideal due to the need for extensive study, particularly on the cane cutter's blade. A common indication of cane cutters is a rapid rate of wear. In this study, researchers employed a qualitative technique based on the taguchi method. The taguchi approach is a modern engineering technique that strives to improve the quality of products and processes while reducing costs and maximizing resources. The taguchi experimental strategy is more effective because it permits research incorporating a large number of variables and numbers. Since a larger hardness response is preferable, the largest confirmation value is the ideal parameter value for the knife manufacturing process on the cane cutter. When measuring the hardness of the blade material on a cane cutter, temperature is a highly important component. According to the findings of the hardness test, the hardest material at a temperature of 750oC and a cooling medium of NaCl solution with a hardness value of 12.4 HRC is, and the hardest material at a temperature of 800oC and a cooling medium of NaOH solution with a hardness value of 59.7 HRC is.

Abstract

By using water on the gilding, the blacksmith's Egrek was hardened.  The Egrek must have tough hardness. The low hardness causes the Egrek to wear out frequently, so consumers criticize the hardness and toughness of blacksmith products.  Due to the wrong heat treatment, the Egrek cause is easily destroyed. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of quenching treatment with various cooling media such as water, used oil, and cooking oil on increasing the hardness of blacksmith products. This research method is an experimental quenching using water, used oil, and cooking oil at 800°C, 850°C, and 900°C, with a holding time of 30 minutes. Rockwell hardness test, statistical data processing using ANOVA and supported by the use of expert design software. Having an average carbon content of 0.379%, Egrek's raw material is made of medium carbon steel. Based on the results of the quenching process with water, used oil, and cooking oil affect hardness. The quenching process of the cooking oil cooling medium that occurs at 800°C with a hardness value of 50.1 HRC produces a minimum hardness value, while the maximum average hardness lies in the water cooling medium with a temperature of 900°C of 60.4 HRC. The results of the percentage contribution of each are used oil by 96.37%, cooking oil by 96.61%, while water cooling media contributed by 88.41%. So that the cooling media for used oil and cooking oil can also be used as an alternative choice of cooling media.
