Abstract

Abstract, the thought of progressive education Abdurrahman Saleh Abdullah is inseparable from his academic turmoil because there has not been any work specifically devoted to education based on the Qur'an. Ontology education according to him is based on the existence of humans as caliphs on earth, so humans need education that has goals in accordance with the Qur'an which is seeking the pleasure of Allah. The educational objectives will not be achieved without the support of educational materials and methods. His educational thoughts cannot necessarily be applied to all societies in the world, because every community group in the world is different from the greaographic location and social conditions. Abstract

This research is oriented to describe and elaborate on the mainstreaming policy of religious moderation on education in West Sulawesi Province, which the government is currently reviewing through the Ministry of Religion Affairs. The study conducted qualitative methods with specific data collection. It analyzed the instruments and found that the informants, consisting of educators and religious figures, deeply understood religious moderation based on the al-Qur'an and hadith, which emphasized Islam as a moderate religion. The principle of restraint (Wasathiyyah) in Islam is, in fact, equivalent to the direction or value of religious moderation programmed by the current government. Then, religious moderation is to be implemented in education. In that case, some components should be prepared carefully to avoid overlapping or duplicating with other programs. For example, several implementation models, with their respective advantages and disadvantages, include autonomous, integrative, collaborative, and enrichment models in education. In addition, what is also very urgent to formulate is the right curriculum, tools and learning designs, and competencies of educators, including an assessment tool which, of course, is more oriented towards attitudes and behavior no longer trapped in the pathology of learning that has been ongoing, more focused on fulfilling the cognitive domain.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the role of Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education (PTNU) in Purworejo, Central Java, in relation to counter-extremism and intolerance in Indonesia. This is a qualitative study that focuses on narrative analysis. The data is gathered from various documents and news articles. The data is analyzed using Ernest Gellner's idea of civil society. The results show that PTNU has a significant role in Indonesia’s religious moderation movement through two main strategies. First, the institution's policies, which are aligned with national principles, serve to strengthen moderate ideologies. Second, as part of its tri-dharma commitment, PTNU integrates scientific, Islamic, and Indonesian principles into its curriculum and activities. Thus, this strategy integrates religious moderation systematically, with broad ramifications for academia and society. PTNU is known for combining academic excellence with holistic ideals, making it a center for religious moderation amid Indonesia's multifaceted extremism and intolerance. This study provides new insights on PTNU's role in the religious moderation movement and could inform both domestic and worldwide actions.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the failure of language learning from traditional methods. This method does not provide a chance for students to practice the language that makes the alinated from the target language. On this basis, Dual-Language Sinking model was developed for language learning which will bridge learning with the daily lives of students to achieve the expected language competencies. This literature review will try to explore what language competencies are needed by students to be said as language competent users and what are the ideal patterns of language learning to develop their language competencies. Finally, the Dual-Language Sinking model will be explained as a offered model to develope language competencies and how to implement the model. The results of this study indicate that competent language users are those who are able to function their language skills and knowledge in their daily activities. To develop students who are competent in language, the learning conditions must be designed as naturally as possible as students' first language environment. This can be achieved by implementing a dual-language sinking as bilingual program. This model uses the target language as the language of instruction in learning and students' daily lives, so that students will develop their language competence through their daily habits.
