Abstract

The objective of this research was to design and test the rice harvest machine portable knapsack type. The methods used in this research were engineering design, making equipment, and testing on the equipment.  The primary paramaters were  theoretical capacity of the planting, harvesting effective capacity, work efficiency equipment, and the loss of rice yields.  The secondary parameters were the forward speed, the total of operation, and the rice yields.  The testing of this machine is done in area rice  field with an area of 202 at 10 obsrevation points.  Theoretically, the rice harvest machine portable knapsack type was able to finish harvesting of 1 Ha of rice crops with a time of 67.11 hours. Whereas, the effective working capacity of the field tested results showed that  this type of harvesting machine was able to finish of 1 Ha with a time of 60.5 hours.  From the comparison of harvesting manually and by used the machine (hour/Ha/person) obtained an efficiency of 50.77 % and the loss of grain in process harvesting by used the rice harvest portable knapsack type of 44.4 %   Keyword : harvester machine, performance, efficiency

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study  the performance of stainless steel type slated mouldboard plow at several forward speeds and tillage depths.  The research was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Agricultural Faculty and Chemical Laboratory, Biology and Fertility of Land, Soil Science, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, from October to December 2011.  This research was performed using Randomized Factorial Block Design that consisted of three levels of depth of the plough  (10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm), and three levels of  forward speed (2 km/hr, 3 km/hr dan 4 km/hr), and each treatment was repeated three times.  The observed parameters were efficiency of tillage, energy’s need of tillage, and draft of tillage.  The result showed that, the depth of  tillage  and the forward speed of tillage had very significant effect on the performance of tillage.  The best treatment was the depth of  tillage 10 cm and forward speed of tillage 2 km/hr, with efficiency of tillage 90.52 %, energy’s need of tillage 748.98 MJ/ha and draft of tillage 6.87 kg.    Keywords: mouldboard plow, type slated, stainless steel.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the physical and mechanical properties of particle board made from coconut fiber and plastic waste. This research used Factorial Completely Randomized Design (RALF) having two factors and each factor was consisted of three levels, whereas each treatment was replicated three times.  The first treatment is the kind of plastic (A) :  A1 =  PET (Polietilen Tereftalat), A2 =  HDPE (High Density Polyethylene),   A3 = PP (Polipropilen). The second treatment is the plastic composition (B) : B1 = 50 gram, B2 = 100 gram,          B3 = 150 gram.  Each treatment was used same weight coconut fiber.  Observed parameters were modulus of rupture, water absorption, density, swelling, and internal bonding.  Based on test result of BNJD (Real Difference Distance Duncann) showed that the kind of  plastic, plastic composition and their interaction had significant effect on modulus of rupture, water absorption,  density and had not significant effect on swelling, and internal bonding.  The combination of Polipropilen types of plastics and plastic composition 150 gram (A3B3) produced particle board having the best characteristic with rupture modulus of 5,65 N/mm2, water absorption of 92,90%, density of 326,43 Kg.m3, swelling of 2,15%, internal bonding of 0,45 N/mm2.  Keywords: Particle board, plastic waste, coconut fiber

Abstract

The aim of was  this research was manufacture of portable incubator machines with daily temperature control. The research was implemented in several stages are tool design and testing of tool. The design of tool consist of temperature control system design. The testing of tool was done 23 days, purposely is to know the percentage of eggs that hatched. The result of research showed that the all equipments of incubator and control system can work purposely that was to raise the temperature as desired. Incubator  has capacity of 15 eggs and of 66.67% hatch egg.  Key words : temperature control system design, eggs, temperature.
