Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the difference of students’ learning style on their English achievement in reading skill of the second grades students of SMPI An-Nuqthah Cipete in Tangerang, Banten. This study uses a causal comparative research design and purposive sampling technique. The sample of this study is 34 second grade students of SMPI An-Nuqthah. They are divided into three types of learning style: visual learning style, auditory learning style and kinesthetic learning style. A questionnaire is used to determine each students’ learning style. Students’ learning style and their English achievement in reading skill were analyzed by using percentage and bifilar linear regression analysis. The result of this study revealed that most of students have a visual learning style (50% from 34 students). The adjusted R score = 51.8%, which means that the learning style contributes about 51.8% to the English reading skill of the second grades students of SMPI An-Nuqthah, and another 48.2% are affected by other factors and need further study. According to the results, the students' visual learning style t-test is higher than the value of the t-table. The conclusion of this research is that visual learning style is the best way to make reading comprehension easier.

Abstract

AbstractConsidering some of the problems faced by secondary school students, especially senior high school students, who still find it difficult to remember grammar material and the lack of innovation in teaching media in the classroom, as well as the teacher's lack of attention to students, researchers are trying to find a way out of this problem by using Grammo. The aim of this study was to determine the students’ perception on Grammo as an alternative teaching media in grammar mastery to XII grade at SMK Kesehatan Letris Indonesia 2, Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan, Banten and MA Daarus Saadah, Cipondoh, Kota Tangerang, Banten. A survey with a descriptive quantitative approach was the research method used. The data collection technique used questionnaire in the form of a Likert Scale. The participants of this research analysis was class XII who were randomly selected as many as 100 students.  The data analysis technique uses hypothesis testing based on validity and reability tests. Based on the results of the data processing where the probability value (p) is 0,05, it can be concluded that Grammo can be used as an alternative media in grammar mastery.  Based on these results, it is hoped that Grammo can be used and make the classroom more attractive and make students more enthusiastic about learning grammar in the future.Keywords: Grammo, Grammar mastery.

Abstract

This research was created to explain in detail how the objective conditions of decreased enthusiasm for learning experienced by students in online learning during the covid-19 pandemic. This research uses quantitative methods with survey techniques. This research was conducted by involving 10 high school or vocational high school students. The data collection technique used in this study was a survey technique with a Likert scale. The survey was created in Microsoft Word and then distributed via WhatsApp to make it easier to access. The data analysis technique used in this study was to calculate the percentage of data on each indicator, then interpret the presentation score and analyze each indicator in detail. The inal results of the study indicate that the decline in learning of high school or vocational high school students is considered to be less good, it is obtained from the percentage score which amounts to 45%. Hope this reseacrh can be an evaluation of various parties in implementing online learning, especially those involving motivation and enthusiasm for learning in it. In addition, it is hoped that it van be use as research material for other researchers in analyzing and developing students’ enthusiasm for learning in online learning during emergencies.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to see if Johnny's Communication Center (JCC) with English subtitles could improve students' understanding of the present continuous tense. This study used a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design, with pre-test, post-test, and interviews providing as instruments. This study was carried out at SMPN 5 South Tangerang with class 8.6 as a sample of 30 students. The T-test was used to assess the data. The research revealed that the average pre-test score was 59.17 and the average post-test score was 83.50. The t-test result was 13.476, and the significant (2-tailed) value was 0.000, which is less than 0.05 (<0.05). And the table above also shows that the t-test value was (13.476) and the t-table value was (5.147), which means that the t-test value was higher than the t-table. With that, it can be concluded that NCT 127 "Johnny's Communication Center" by English Subtitle is effective to improve students' Simple Present Continuous Tense Comprehension.
