Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has been affecting the education field so much that the educational process is changing to web-based instruction such as e-learning. The aim of this research is to describe the application of an e-learning strategy for speaking skill in the Arabic Language Center (PKPBA) Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and the students' opinions about it. This research is descriptive qualitative research. Data sources are the process of teaching speaking skill in class 21 of the science and technology department and students. The data collection tools used are observation, interview and documentation. As for the method of data analysis, it is a method of analyzing qualitative data that consists of stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. This study indicated that an e-learning strategy for speaking skill in the Arabic Language Center at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was applied by means of WhatsApp, YouTube, and Google Meet. The strategy consisted of actions: 1) Before education: preparing a WhatsApp group, giving study materials in the form of pdf and educational video on a YouTube link; 2) When teaching: sharing a Google Meet link, explaining new vocabulary or phrases, reading the exemplary dialogue text and students imitate it, several students practice the dialogue, giving students a chance to submit questions; 3) After education: evaluation through the application of dialogue between students and conclusion. As for the students, they see that this strategy is attractive and suitable for its application in teaching speaking skill, and it is effective in improving their speaking skill and motivation when learning.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the modality and proposition in the movie "Kena: Bridge of Spirit" using Charles J. Fillmore's case grammar theory. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is the movie "Kena: Bridge of Spirit" directed by Hunter Schmidt. The data collection techniques used are listening and note-taking methods. Data analysis in this study went through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validation techniques used are to increase persistence and triangulation. The results of the research on the movie "Kena: Bridge of Spirit" based on Fillmore's case grammar theory consists of four modalities (tense, negation, mode, and aspect) and ten propositions (agent, experience, place, instrument, time, objective, purpose, accompaniment, source, and benefactive).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami jenis, makna dan fungsi idiom dalam bahasa Bugis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Sumber data diperoleh dari percakapan sehari-hari, teks lagu dan video berbahasa Bugis. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa idiom bahasa Bugis. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu Teknik simak libat cakap, kemudian mencatat hal-hal yang berhubungan dengan penggunaan idiom. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ditemukan terdapat 38 idiom yang diklasifikasikan dalam dua jenis yaitu idiom penuh dan idiom sebagian. Makna idiom penuh sulit untuk diidentifikasi sedangkan makna idiom sebagian masih dapat telusuri dari makna leksikalnya dan unsur kata yang membentuknya. Idiom bahasa Bugis berfungsi untuk untuk memperhalus ucapan, mengekspresikan perasaan, sebagai sindiran, pujian, julukan, nasihat, dan penegasan dalam suatu pernyataan. Dalam penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan agar menemukan lebih banyak data dalam upaya penyusunan kamus idiom bahasa Bugis sebagai bentuk pelestarian bahasa daerah dan menjaga eksistensi bahasa Bugis di kalangan generasi muda.

Abstract

As a dictionary used as a guide in PPQ Nurul Huda for 10 years, the 'Hifdz al-Mufrodat Dictionary has never experienced changes or additions that are tailored to user needs. This study aims to evaluate the contents of the dictionary with the aim that the 'Hifdz al-Mufrodat Dictionary can become an interesting and effective learning resource. This study uses library research methods with the research object being the 'Hifdz al-Mufrodat Dictionary. The results of the study show that the 'Hifdz al-Mufrodat (Memorizing Vocabularies)' Dictionary component still has three parts even though it only fulfills a small part of the stated standard component criteria. Regarding the method of compiling the dictionary, this dictionary is compiled using a different system in each chapter. Thus, this dictionary is compiled thematically on a small scale. Taking into account some of the deficiencies and the many components that have not been included in the dictionary, this dictionary should be updated and readjusted to user needs, in this context means PPQ Nurul Huda students and the curriculum that covers them.

Abstract

This study aims to describe Arabic calligraphy learning programs at the "Ibn Al-Bawwab" Calligraphy School in Madiun, and the supporting and inhibiting factors. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Sources of data used are school administrators and documents. To collect data, researchers used observation, interviews, and documentation with qualitative data analysis methods: data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are: 1) The objectives of the program are to spread Islam, form a generation of the Qur'an, get used to writing the Qur'an well and beautifully, be creative and innovative in developing calligraphy. The learning strategy used is 'tadrib'. The learning material consists of writing calligraphy and making calligraphy with ornaments. It opens with offline and online learning, and ends with an evaluation. 2) The supporting factors are experienced and reputable teachers in calligraphy, convenient location, and the number of programs provided. The inhibiting factors are the difficulty of achieving learning objectives for some students, the absence of students or teachers, and the distance.يهدف هذا البحث وصف برامج تعليم الخط العربي في معهد "ابن البواب" الخطي بماديون، والعوامل الداعمة والمثبطة لها. هذا البحث بحث وصفي كيفي. مصادر البيانات المستخدمة هي رجال المعهد والوثائق المعهدية. ولجمع البيانات استخدم الباحث الملاحظة، والمقابلة، والوثائق بطريقة تحليل البيانات الكيفية: تقليل البيانات وعرضها والاستنتاج. نتائج هذا البحث هي: 1) الأهداف من البرامج هي نشر الإسلام، وتكوين جيل قرأني، والتعود على كتابة القرآن بشكل جيد وجميل، والإبداع والابتكار لتطوير الخط. استراتيجية التعليم المستخدمة هي "التدريب". المواد التعليمية فيها تتمثل في نشاطان رئيسيان، وهما كتابة الخط وإعداد أعمال الخط (بالزخرفة). كانت البرامج مفتوحة بالتعليم في الحجرة الدراسية والتعليم عبر الإنترنت وتنتهي بالتقويم. 2) العوامل الداعمة هي: المعلمون ولهم خبرات ومتميزون في الخط، وموقع المعهد الملائم، وعدد البرامج. أما العوامل المثبطة فهي صعوبة تحقيق أهداف التعليم لبعض التلاميذ، وغياب التلاميذ أو المعلمين في بعض الأحيان، ومسافة المعهد.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out the forms of antonyms in Ghazi Al-Qashaibi's Hikayah Al-Hubb novel from the perspective of John I. Saeed. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The primary data source used is the novel Hikayah Al-Hubb by Ghazi Al-Qashaibi published by Dar As-Saqiy in 2011, while the secondary data sources consist of books, articles, and journals that support the discussion. The data collection techniques used are reading techniques and note-taking techniques. While the data analysis techniques used are, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are the form of antonyms in the novel Hikayah Al-Hubb by Ghazi Al-Qashaibi based on the perspective of John I. Saeed is divided into five forms consisting of 14 simple antonyms, 5 gradable antonyms, 4 reverses antonyms, 6 converses antonyms, and 2 taxonomic antonyms.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to identify the type of narrator in the novel “Kami Bukan Generasi Bacot” by J.S. Khairen based on the theory of Mieke Bal narratology. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data used in this study is the text that considers the narrator represented in the novel Kami Bukan Generasi Bacot by J.S. Khairen - published in 2020. The data collection technique in this study was reading, taking a note, and documentation technique. The researcher read and observed sentences and paragraphs in the narrative text of the novel and then noted and analyzed it. The results of the study found two types of narrators, namely external narrators and internal narrators. The external narrator is a narrator who is not involved in the storyline, while the internal narrator is a narrator who is involved in the storyline. There are fifteen identifyingexternal narrators. In the novel, the external narrators have mainly represented because many main characters are narrated, such as Arko, Gala, Randi, Puti, Juwisa, Ogi, and Sania. The number of internal narrators identified in the novel is five data because only some of the characters in the story act as narrators.Keywords: narrator type, “Kami Bukan Generasi Bacot” novel, narratology   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tipe narator dalam novel “Kami Bukan Generasi Bacot” karya J.S. Khairen dengan menggunakan teori naratologi Mieke Bal. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah teks yang dianggap merepresentasikan narator dalam novel “Kami Bukan Generasi Bacot”. Sumber data ialah novel Kami Bukan Generasi Bacot karya J.S. Khairen yang terbit tahun 2020. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah teknik baca, catat dan dokumentasi yaitu peneliti membaca dan mengamati kalimat dan paragraf dalam teks narasi novel kemudian dicatat dan dianalisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua tipe narator, yaitu narator eksternal dan narator internal. Narator eksternal adalah narator yang tidak terlibat dalam alur cerita, sedangkan narator internal merupakan narator yang terlibat dalam alur cerita. Narator eksternal yang terindentifikasi berjumlah lima belas data Pada novel ini narator eksternal lebih banyak digunakan karena tokoh utama yang dinarasikan banyak, seperti tokoh Arko, Gala, Randi, Puti, Juwisa, Ogi, dan Sania. Adapun jumlah narator internal yang teridentifikasi dalam novel adalah lima data karena tidak semua tokoh dalam cerita berperan sebagai narator.Kata-kata kunci: tipe narator, novel “Kami Bukan Generasi Bacot”, naratologi

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) describe the form of illocutionary speech acts in drama script of Ghassan Kanfany's “Al-Baab” based on Searle's perspective; and 2) describe the function of illocutionary speech acts in drama script of Ghassan Kanfany's “Al-Baab” based on Searle's perspective. This research is a descriptive qualitative and field research. The primary data source is drama script of Al-Baab by Ghassan Kanafany and book of Searle Expression and Meaning: Study in The Theory of Speech Acts. Secondary data are articles and books of pragmatics. The data collection technique uses reading techniques and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are: 1) illocutionary speech acts in Ghassan Kanafany's drama script Al-baab based on Searle's perspective there are 5 forms (in 45 data), namely assertive speech acts (24 data), directive speech acts (10 data), commissive speech acts (4 data), expressive speech acts (5 data), declarative speech acts (2 data); and 2) illocutionary speech acts in Ghassan Kanafany's play Al-baab based on Searle's perspective there are 14 functions (in 45 data), namely argues (3 data), informs (12 data), explains (5 data), convinces (2 data), states (2 data), commands (6 data), prohibits (2 data), ask (2 data), refuse (1 data), promise (3 data), disappointed (3 data), angry (1 data), hate (1 data), and punish (2 data).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik kebahasaan YouTuber perempuan Indonesia, yang direpresentasikan dengan tiga sampel video unggahan dari akun Tasya Farasya, Ria Ricis, dan Ria SW. Proses analisis  penelitian  ini berdasarkan pada teori bahasa dan gender milik Lakoff. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data dari ketiga video dan beberapa literatur lainnya. Proses pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak bebas libat cakap dan teknik catat, serta dianalisis melalui proses pemilahan, penelaahan data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan enam karakteristik kebahasaan perempuan yang domi-nan, yaitu tag questions, hedges, intensifier, empty adjectives, question intonation, dan avoidance swear words.   Analysis of language characteristics of Indonesian female Youtubers from Lakoff's perspective   Abstract: This study aims to describe the linguistic characteristics of Indonesian female YouTubers, which are represented by three samples of uploaded videos from the accounts of Tasya Farasya, Ria Ricis, and Ria SW. The analysis process of this research is based on Lakoff's theory of language and gender. This research is descriptive and qualitative, with data sources from the three videos and some other literature. The process of collecting data uses the technique of free-living expert observation and note-taking techniques and is analyzed through the process of sorting, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. In this study, six dominant female linguistic characteristics were found, namely tag questions, hedges, intensifiers, empty adjectives, question intonation, and avoidance of swear words.

Abstract

In the digital era, learning activities must be adapted to developments in technology and information. Teachers are required to develop learning media creatively and innovatively. This study aims to determine the use of Canva as a medium for learning Arabic reading skills for class X students at MAN Batu City, student responses to the media and evaluate the use of the advantages and disadvantages. This research approach combines both qualitative and quantitative methods, employing data gathering techniques such as observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The research data respondents were 33 class X MAN Batu City students. The questionnaire instrument uses 13 statements with a Likert scale rating of 1-5 related to the use of Canva as a medium for learning Arabic reading skills for class X IPS 1 MAN Batu City. The results of the study show that using Canva as a media for reading skills is easy to use in learning, both in class and for independent study at home. Student response in using this media is also good. This can be seen from the results of the Pearson correlations for each item above 0.2826. So that the results of the questionnaire from students are valid. The 2-tailed significance of 0.000 <0.05 means that each item is correlated. So it can be concluded that student responses are acceptable. The advantages of using Canva are being able to make learning materials that are visually interesting and the drawbacks are requiring a stable internet network.
