Abstract

The waste of the broiler processing (feather) is a potential source for animal feed. However the presence of keratins cause limited of feather use. Before using, therefore, feather must be treated to hydrolyze cysteine disulfide bound dominating keratins protein. Enzymatic (biological) treatment using microbes will produce specific feather hydrolyzed and does not have negative impact on environment. The research objected to get the microbes which degradated selected keratins, improve protein quality of feather meal and find out the best ration formulation true in vitro the basic information to formulate in vivo ration. The research has been done in Laboratory of Animal Feedstuff Faculty of Animal Science UNSOED for eight months. Fermentation trial was done on liquid media with bath system. In vitro trial used of Tilley and Terry methods with parameter observe was dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility, protein degradation, total VFA and solubility in pepsin. Based on all parameter, on fermentation trial with Bacillus licheniformis decides broiler chicken feather had good prospect to be developed on feed protein source. In vitro trial recommended ration with formulation of fermented feather meal concentrate (15 percent), soybeans meal (5 percent), rice bran (20 percent), molasses (4 percent), mineral mix (1 percent), with forage: concentrate ratio 40 : 60 could be used as in vivo ration. Abstract

Abstract. During ensilage, anaerob condition must be controlled. Some methods of modified atmosphere in silo were analyzed to compare ensilage characteristics and silage product. So far, there is not been information on the atmosphere condition in the process of silage production. It encourages the researchers to evaluate the condition of ensilage process of Pennisetum purpureum by studying atmosphere modification in the silo and the effect of the usage of various additives in the process of silage production.   Elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum), molasses, L. acidophillus were used. The study was conducted with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 3x2 factorial pattern.  Atmosphere modification as the first factor consist of : (A0: silage with compaction (conventional) A1: silage with vacuum method, A2: silage with modified C02) and two kinds of silage additives as the second factor (B1: indirect additive (molasses); B2: direct additive (Lactic Acid Bacteria).  Each treatment combination was repeated 4 times. The objective of the research was to evaluate changes in nutrient content (protein, crude fiber, gross energy). The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance, then continued by Honest Significant Differences (HSD) test.  Based on the research results it can be concluded that the optimum ensilage can take place, either by compaction methods (conventional), vacuum and the addition of CO2. While the addition of molasses additive produces silage with better quality than the addition of L. Acidophillus inoculant. Key words: Modified atmosphere, additives, silage Abstrak. Kondisi anaerob harus dikontrol selama ensilase. Beberapa metode modifikasi atmosfir silo dianalisa untuk membandingkan ciri dan hasil ensilase. Sejauh ini belum ada informasi kondisi atmosfir dalam proses produksi ensilase. Hal ini mendorong peneliti untuk mengevaluasi kondisi proses ensilase Pennisetum purpureum dengan mempelajari modifikasi atmosfir silo dan dampak penggunaan bermacam zat tambahan dalam proses pembuatan ensilase. Rumput gajah (Pennisetum purpureum), molase, L. acidophillus digunakan dalam penelitian dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL)  3x2 pola  faktorial. Modifikasi atmosfir sebagai faktor pertama terdiri dari: (A0: silase dengan pemadatan (konvensional), A1: silase dengan metode vakum, A2: silase dengan modifikasi CO2) dan dua jenis silase tambahan sebagai faktor kedua: B1: tambahan langsung (molase); B2: tambahan langsung (Bakteri Asam Laktat). Setiap kombinasi perlakuan diulang 4 kali. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengevaluasi perubahan dalam kandungan nutrisi (protein, serat kasar, energi kasar). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan analisis variansi, dilanjutkan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Kesimpulan penelitian adalah ensilase optimal tercapai baik dengan metode pemadatan (konvensional), vakum, maupun penambahan CO2. Sedangkan tambahan molase menghasilkan silase dengan kualitas yang lebih baik daripada dengan  L. Acidophillus inoculant. Kata kunci: modifikasi atmosfir, zat tambahan, silase

Abstract

Larva superworm (Zophobas morio) merupakan salah satu bahan yang berpotensi untuk dijadikan bahan baku minyak goreng yang berkelanjutan dan ramah lingkungan. Untuk meningkatkan mutu dan daya terima konsumen terhadap minyak superworm, maka perlu dilakukan tahap pemurnian minyak yaitu pemucatan (bleaching). Salah satu adsorben yang dapat digunakan pada proses bleaching adalah bentonit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan bentonit dalam proses bleaching minyak superworm dan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi bentonit dan lama waktu pengadukan yang optimal dalam meningkatkan kemurnian minyak superworm. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola Faktorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi bleaching earth (bentonit) (1,2%, 1,4%, dan 1,6%). Faktor kedua adalah lama pengadukan (10 menit, 15 menit dan 20 menit). Parameter uji yaitu kadar asam lemak bebas, kadar air, dan organoleptic yang meliputi warna, aroma dan rasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan konsentrasi bentonit dan lama pengadukan tidak menunjukkan adanya pengaruh signifikan terhadap kadar asam lemak bebas, aroma dan rasa minyak goreng superworm. Namun interaksi kedua faktor memberikan pengaruh secara signifikan terhadap nilai kadar air dan warna minyak goreng superworm. Konsentrasi bentonit terbaik adalah 1,6% dengan lama pengadukan 10 menit, dimana kadar asam lemak bebas sebesar 0,15 mg KOH/g dan kadar air sebesar 2,86%.Kata kunci : Bentonit, Pemucatan, Minyak Goreng, Superworm, Ramah Lingkungan

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui nilai sensori teh hitam CTC berdasarkan jenis petikan dan suhu optimum pengeringan menggunakan logika fuzzy serta mengetahui nilai evaluasi sensori optimum untuk mutu teh hitam CTC jenis Broken Grade 1 (Broken Pecoe, Pecoe Fanning, Pecoe Dust). Logika fuzzy dapat menghasilkan solusi crisp (tegas) yang dijadikan sebagai pembanding para panelis ahli dalam melakukan evaluasi sensori mutu akhir teh hitam CTC, metode centroid menghasilkan prosentasi tertinggi dengan hasil untuk kriteria evaluasi mutu awal Appearance 98.93%, Liquor 99.5% dan Infused Leaf 99.86%. Nilai evaluasi sensori terbaik menghasilkan mutu A (Best Quality) diketahui dari input jenis petikan halus di atas 60% dan suhu optimal yaitu antara 80 – 950C  Kata kunci : Evaluasi Sensori, Logika Fuzzy, Teh Hitam CTC

Abstract

“Salak pondoh” (Salacca edulis reinw) representing typical commodity in Yogyakarta and represent one among superior commodity at Sleman regency which its growth started by have sufficiently long and get enough the government attention, where infrastructure for the fluency current of input and output have been made available inclusive of its marketing institute. Greater harvest price salak pondoh very low so profit farmer advantage also. To overcome the mentioned of there were some farmer salak pondoh that is with the diversification product and one of them is crispy processing. To see To see what the effort farmer’s profit or do not hence have been done by research. This research aim to know the eligibility financial of effort industry of processing kripik barks the pondoh. The research was conducted in Bangunkerto village and Donokerto village of District Turi and Lumbungrejo village, Tempel District Sleman Regency on November until December 2004. Research method used by method the survey, data type collected covers the data of primary and secondary. Primary data obtained from interview with the farmer bark the pondoh use the questionnaire; secondary data is secondary obtained from Biro Pusat Statistik DIY and other institution which is related to this research. Intake sample conducted by purposive and responder determined by counted 60 people. The data mustered tabulation was analyzed descriptively and to analysis technical financial feasibility by NPV, IRR, B/C and Payback Period. Research result indicated that industrial Investment crispy bark of pondoh processing by financial is competent for developed that shown from positive value NPV, higher IRR Estimation from storey; level of rate of interest actual, and B/C ratio > 1

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain N-Amino and Total Soluble Solids (TSS) in the extract earthworms. The material used is earthworm type Lumbricus rubellus with age about 40 days. The design used in this study was Response Surface Methods (RSM) with the Central Composite Design, consisting of two factors: the incubation time (2, 4, and 6 days) and the percentage of basic material (10, 15, and 20 %). This research was conducted by incubating earthworm juice with 4% NaCl solution in accordance with treatment of incubation time and percentage of basic material. The results showed that the optimal results obtained were soluble protein 7.51% and TPT 48.90% using 2 days incubation time and 15% earthworms.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKulit coklat merupakan sumber lignoselulosa dari limbah pertanian dengan kandungan lignin mencapai 14.7 ± 0.35% (w/w). Lignin merupakan senyawa aromatik kompleks heteropolymer yang tidak mudah dipecah secara hidrolitik, sehingga jamur pelapuk seringkali digunakan untuk mempermudah proses degradasi lignin. Pada penelitian ini digunakan jamur pelapuk putih (S. commune). Selama proses pemecahan lignin, S. commune memanfaatkan enzim peroksidase dan lakase. Akan tetapi, produksi enzim lignolitik pada jamur pelapuk putih dalam jumlah kecil, sehingga diperlukan penambahan inducer untuk meningkatkan aktivitas enzim lignolitik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan CuSO4 terhadap aktivitas enzim MnP dan Lakase pada S. commune yang berperan dalam proses pemecahan lignin sehingga dapat dihasilkan berbagai macam senyawa kimia bernilai tinggi. Tembaga dengan konsentrasi 0 mM; 0.5 mM; 1.5 mM; dan 2.5 mM ditambahkan pada S. commune dan di inkubasi selama 5 minggu. Hasil kemudian diekstrak dan diuji aktivitas enzim MnP dan Lakase menggunakan spektofotometri. Hasil menunjukkan aktivitas enzim lignolitik S. commune terbesar yaitu 0.48 IU.L-1 untuk enzim MnP pada minggu ke-4 dengan penambahan konsentrasi CuSO4 1.5 mM dan 0.18 IU.L-1 untuk enzime lakase pada minggu ke-3 dengan penambahan konsentrasi CuSO4 0.5 mM dan 1.5 mM ABSTRACTAgricultural waste such as cacao pod is a source of lignocellulosic with 14.7 ± 0.35% (w/w) lignin compound. Lignin is a heterogeneous aromatic complex which are difficult degradated by hydrolitic, so rot fungi needed on lignin degradation process. This researches used white rot fungi (S. commune). S. commune are known to breakdown lignin with peroxidase and laccase enzyme. However, ligninolytic enzyme are produced only small quantities, so needed induction for enhancemend and activated ligninolytic enzyme. Purpose this research is knowing affected concentration copper on MnP and Laccase activty of S.commune during degaradation of lignocellulose, so can produce various of chemical added value compound. Various consentration copper are 0 mM; 0.5 mM; 1.5 mM; and 2.5 mM added in treatment and incubated for 5 weeks. Yield extracted and MnP and Lakase activty is measured by spectrophotometry. The maximum activities enzyme synthesized by S. commune were observed as 0.48 IU.L-1 for manganese peroxidase (MnP) after 4 weeks incubation at 1.5 mM CuSO4 and 0.18 IU.L-1 for laccase after 3 weeks incubation at 0.5 mM and 1.5 mM CuSO4

Abstract
