Abstract

ABSTRACTRuminant production is impeded by lack of forage and roughage.  This experiment tried to make use the ample supply of palm press fiber (PPF) as the  sources of roughage. The first experiment was conducted  to evaluate effect of urea for ammoniation on digestibility and fermentability of PPF, on the level of 2, 4 and 6% urea, respectively. The result of trial 1 indicated that digestibility and fermentability of ammoniated PPF was higher than that of  the control.  The best digestibility and fermentability was attainable by ammoniation with 6% urea.  This  best result was then used in trial 2 by supplementation  of  0, 5, 10, 15, and 20% cassava leaves based on dry matter feed (source of branched chain amino acids (BCAA) on syntesis of microbial protein, digestibility and fermentability. The experiment diet composed of 50% PPF and 50% concentrate. Supplementation of cassava leaves increased the digestibility, fermentability and syntesis of microbial protein. Supplementation of 15 % cassava leaves increase syntesis of  microbial protein to 30.64 mg/l/ hour. The result showed that ammoniated PPF with supplementation 15% DM cassava leaves was better in digestibility and syntesis microbial protein.Key words : cassava leaves, palm press fiber, ammoniation,  ruminant production

Abstract

The present research was conducted to investigate the effect supplementation of mineral zinc on in-vitro digestibilityof ammoniated corn cobs ration. The objective of this experiment is to determine the optimum level of zinc supplementation toin the ration through in-vitro digestibility trial. The rations consisted of 50% ammoniated corn cobs and 50% concentrates.The treatments was various levels of zinc of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg/kg of ration based on DM basis. Parametersmeasured included digestibility of fiber fractions (NDF, ADF, sellulosa and hemisellulosa). Data were statistically analyzedby variance analysis in a block randomized design. Results showed that the treatmens gave hightly significant (P<0,01) effecton the digestibility. Digestibility of fibers fractions increased as increasing level of zinc supplementation. The bestdigestibility of fibers fractions was found on 100 mg/kg of Zinc supplementation in the ration as dry matter basis

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan rasio penggunaan limbah jagung amoniasi dan konsentrat dalam ransum komplit ternak ruminansia berdasarkan parameter kecernaan fraksi serat (NDF, ADF, selulosa dan hemiselulosa) secara in vitro. Empat formula ransum komplit adalah; R0= 50% rumput lapangan + 50% konsentrat (ransum kontrol), R1= 40% limbah jagung amoniasi + 60% konsentrat, R2= 60% limbah jagung amoniasi + 40% konsentrat dan R3= 80% limbah jagung amoniasi + 20% konsentrat. Kecernaan fraksi serat diukur setelah ransum diinkubasi selama 48 jam dengan cairan buffer rumen menurut teknik Tilley dan Terry (1969). Data dianilisis secara statistik menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok, dan perbedaan nilai rataan perlakuan diuji dengan uji Duncan. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan degradasi fraksi serat ransum nyata berbeda (P<0.05), tetapi R1 dan R0 tidak nyata berbeda. Disimpulkan bahwa rasio 40% limbah jagung amoniasi dan 60% konsentrat (R1) menghasilkan degradasi fraksi serat yang lebih baik dari R2 dan R3 dan tidak nyata berbeda dengan ransum kontrol (R0).

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect supplementation of  mineral sulphur on the digestibility of ammoniated corn cobs ration. The objective of this experiment is to determine the optimum level of sulphur supplementation to in vitro digestibility of rations. Rations consisted of 50% ammoniated corn cobs and 50% concentrate.  As treatments, was various levels of sulphur at0, 0,13, 0,16, 0,21 and 0,32% of DM basis. Parameters measured included: digestibility of DM, OM, CP and fiber fractions. Data were statistically analyzed by variance analysis in a block randomized design. Results showed that the treatments gave highly significant (P<0,01) effect on the digestibility. Digestibility of DM. OM, CP and fibers fractions increased as increasing level of sulphur supplementation. The best digestibility was found on 0,16% level of sulphur supplementation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk menentukan rasio optimum penggunaan limbah jagung amoniasi dan konsentrat dalam ransum komplit ternak ruminansia berdasarkan parameter kecernaan secara in-vitro.  Empat formula ransum komplit tersebut adalah; R1= 20% limbah jagung amoniasi dan 80% konsentrat, R2= 40% limbah jagung amoniasi dan 60% konsentrat, R3= 60% limbah jagung amo­niasi dan 40% konsentrat dan R4= 80% limbah jagung amoniasi dan 20% konsentrat. Ke­cernaan ran­sum ditentukan setelah diinkubasi selama 48 jam dengan cairan rumen menurut teknik Tilley dan Terry (1969). Data dianalisis menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok. Parameter yang diukur adalah kecernaan bahan kering, bahan organik dan protein kasar, serta konsentrasi VFA dan NH3 cairan rumen. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kecernaan dan konsentrasi VFA dan NH3 berbeda nyata (P<0,05), namun antara R1 dan R2 berbeda tidak nyata (P>0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa 40% lim­bah jagung amoniasi dan 60% konsentrat yang lebih baik digunakan sebagai ransum komplit untuk ruminansia.

Abstract

This activity aims to increase buffalo milk production by improving feed management through the application of science and technology will lead to an increase in the income of Murrah buffalo breeders. This program is conducted to the Kelok Rambai livestock Group, Kapau, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. This farmer group received assistance from the provincial government of West Sumatra, 15 Murrah buffaloes as milk producers, where the milk produced is fermented into curd. The pattern of maintenance is semi-intensive and the feed provided is inadequate both in quantity and quality and the lack of knowledge of farmers so that the productivity of buffaloes is still low. The method of activities carried out in this service is participatory community empowerment including counseling, training, guidance, discussion and evaluation/monitoring. The training/pilot of feed technology introduced is multi-nutrient feed supplement, namely Urea Saka Blok, and ammoniated rice straw as a quality fiber feed ingredient. In addition, the cultivation of legume feed is indigofera plants which can be used as green concentrate because high protein content. The results of using ammoniated rice straw supplemented with Urea Saka Blok in buffaloes increased feed consumption significantly from an average of 2.5% to 2.75% of body weight or an increase of 0.25%. This increase in feed consumption has implications for milk production which was initially 2 liters per day, increased to 3 liters per day or an increase of about 50%, and what is quite interesting is that until the 10th month of lactation milk production is still 3 liters per day. It is hoped that the community service activities at the Kelok Rambai Cattle Farmer Group can increase the income of group members, apply good maintenance management, increase motivation, apply sustainable introduced feed technology and make Nagari Kapau as one of the centers for Murrah buffalo farming producing milk/curd. in West Sumatra.

Abstract

The community service program is conducted at the Kelok Rambai livestock Group, Kapau, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. the Kelok Rambai livestock Group is a group of livestock that raises Murrah buffalo but has not implemented good maintenance management. Maintenance management that has not been appropriately managed and farmers' lack of knowledge are the main obstacles faced at the service location. The productivity of Murrah buffalo is still very low. This service activity aims to improve maintenance management, improve the income of Murrah buffalo farmers with the application of good management, and the application of science and technology and research results to develop independent businesses. The method of activities carried out in this service is participatory community empowerment, including counseling, training/ pilots, guidance/ guidance, discussion/ consultation, and evaluation/monitoring. It is hoped that from community service activities to Kelok Rambai livestock Group, it can increase income for group members, implement good maintenance management, increase motivation, use appropriate technology and make Kapau one of the central Murrah buffalo farms producing milk and “dadih” in West Sumatra.
