Abstract

This objective of the research was to investigated the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter and crude protein of elephant grass cv. Taiwan by in vitro technique. The method of research was using a Random Design Group with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment A (100% N, P and K without CMA), treatment B (100% N, P, and K + 10gr of CMA), treatment C (75% N, P, and K + 10gr of CMA), treatment D (50% N, P, and K + 10gr of CMA) and treatment E (25% N, P, and K + 10gr of CMA), respectively. The results of the research showed that the effects of dry matter, organic matter and crude protein digestibility were not significantly (P<0.05) different between the treatments. The dry matter digestibility of elephant grass cv. Taiwan ranged from 53.47% to 57.72%, organic matter digestibility ranged from 57.66% to 63.75%, and crude protein digestibility ranged from 65.67% to 70.70%, respectively. It could be  concluded that the given of 25% of N, P, and K + 10 gram of CMA glomus manihotis was better the digestibility on dry matter, organic  matter and crude protein. Therefore, it means that the same value with fertilizer N, P, and K 100%  without CMA.

Abstract

One of the most critical factors in increasing beef cattle is feed. Besides, breeders also need practical, quality, and continuous cattle feed. We need the development of superior grass technology/king grass using the arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi to support feed production for beef cattle. The arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi play a role in increasing plant growth and resistance to attack by root pathogens and resistance to stress conditions. The objectives of this activity are: 1. to improve breeders' knowledge and skills in useful and profitable beef cattle cultivation; 2. to increase farmer's knowledge and skills in cultivating superior grass with arbuscular mycorrhizae. The method used is the counseling method, where previously through an approach, counseling, training and coaching, and finally, evaluation and monitoring. While the activities include good and profitable beef cattle cultivation and superior grass cultivation using the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. The partners of this activity are the Kubu Sepakat livestock group and the Parak Karakah community, Padang. Partners' problems are 1. breeders have difficulty providing forage feed, 2—lack of knowledge on good and profitable beef cattle cultivation. The activity results found that breeders increased their knowledge about excellent and profitable beef cattle cultivation techniques. From the results of the activity, it can be seen that the livestock's ability to cultivate superior grass using the arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi has increased so that the nutritional needs of livestock can be met. Based on the results of the statistical tests that the activities carried out have an index value of 90, this indicates that the activities carried out are beneficial or successful in transferring knowledge and skills to breeders.

Abstract

Kota Padang sangat berpotensi besar pada usaha peternakan, hal ini disebabkan tingginya kebutuhan daging di kota ini disebabkan peningkatan laju pertambahan penduduk. Selama ini kebutuhan daging masih di suplai dari daerah lain, untuk meminimalisir suplai daging tersebut maka perlu memacu peternak kota Padang dengan sistem peternakan kota. Sistem peternakan ini dapat mengoptimalkan lahan yang sempit. Tujuan kegiatan ini yaitu: 1. meningkatkan keterampilan peternak terhadap budidaya sapi potong yang menguntungkan, 2. peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam penerapan teknologi deteksi kebuntingan dini sapi potong. Metode kegiatan ini terdiri atas penyuluhan, demonstrasi/pelatihan dan evaluasi terhadap budidaya sapi potong yang baik dan menguntungkan, deteksi kebuntingan dini sapi potong. Mitra kegiatan ini adalah Kelompok ternak Kubu Sepakat, masyarakat dan Dinas Peternakan dan pertanian Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Dari hasil kegiatan terlihat meningkatnya pengetahuan peternak dalam budidaya sapi potong yang baik berbasis menguntungkan bahkan peternak juga mampu dalam penerapan teknologi deteksi kebuntingan dini pada sapi potong yang dimiliki. Teknologi ini dapat mendeteksi kebuntingan dini sapi potong dalam waktu relatif singkat, murah, dan massal serta tidak membutuhkan skill bagi peternak. Hal ini tentu dapat meningkatkan populasi dan produktivitas sapi potong serta menyejahterakan petani/peternak dalam rangka mempercepat proses swasembada pangan tahun 2024 di Sumatera Barat. Dari hasil kegiatan maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan ini dapat terlaksana dengan baik dan lancar sesuai dengan target yang diharapkan. Di samping itu, peserta/peternak bersemangat dan antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan ini. Kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat bagi peternak serta berhasil dalam mentransfer ilmu pengetahuan dan peningkatan keterampilan peternak dalam penerapan teknologi.
