Abstract

ABSTRAKTelah dilakukan penelitian untuk melihat pengaruh PEG-2000 terhadap ukuran partikel Fe3O4 yang disintesis dengan metode kopresipitasi.  Pasir besi magnetik didapat dari pengolahan batuan besi. Pasir besi selanjutnya direaksikan dengan HCl dan NH4OH dengan menggunakan metode kopresipitasi. Perbandingan komposisi pasir besi dan PEG-2000 yang digunakan adalah 1:0, 1:1, 1:2 dan 1:4. Dari karakterisasi dengan XRD diketahui ukuran kristal Fe3O4 berturut-turut yaitu 217,00 nm, 108,75 nm, 81,57 nm dan 130,02 nm.  Berdasarkan hasil SEM terlihat bahwa partikel Fe3O4 berbentuk bulat dengan ukuran partikel menurun dari 80,00-220,00 nm menjadi 60,00-127,00 nm dengan meningkatnya konsentrasi PEG-2000.Kata kunci: Fe3O4, pasir besi, nanopartikel, PEG-2000AbstractHave conducted studies looking at the effect of PEG -2000 to measure Fe3O4 particles were synthesized by coprecipitation method.  Magnetic iron sand obtained from the processing of iron rock.  Iron sand is then treated with HCl and NH4OH using coprecipitation method.  Variation used was iron sand with no PEG -2000, iron sand PEG -2000 (1:1), iron sand with PEG -2000 (1:2) and iron sand with PEG -2000 (1:4). XRD characterization produce Fe3O4 crystal size in a row that is 217,00 nm, 108,75 nm, 81,57 nm and 130,02 nm . Based on the results of SEM shows that the cyrcle Fe3O4 particles with particle size decreased from 80,00 to 220.00 nm to 60.00 to 127,50 nm with increasing concentrations of PEG -2000.Keywords: Fe3O4, nanoparticles, PEG-2000

Abstract

Synthesis of Fe3O4 particles was performed using coprecipitation method. Iron sand base material obtained by processing the iron rocks by means of destruction and extraction. Iron rocks were taken from the village Surian, South Solok of West Sumatera. Iron sand that has been extracted reacted with HCL and NH4OH. Furthermore, the PEG-2000 were added to see its effect on the resulting magnetization saturation. Variations in the composition ratio of iron sand and PEG-2000 are 1:0, 1:1, 1:2 and 1:4. The crystal structure of the sample was confirm using x-ray diffraction method. Characterization of magnetic properties carried out using vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). The results of magnetic properties show that the saturation magnetization decreases with increasing of PEG-2000 content in the range of 99.50emu/g - 0,84 emu/g.
