Abstract

Abstract: The aim of the research was to determine the effect of learning methods on mathematics achievement viewed from the student intelligence level. The learning methods compared were problem posing with CTL approach, problem posing and conventional. The type of the research was quasi experimental research. The population was all of students in the seventh grade of Junior High School in Purworejo in the academic year of 2012/2013. The sample of this research was taken by using stratified cluster random sampling. The sample was consisted of 177 students with 90 students in the first experiment class, 95 students in the second experiment class, and 92 students in the control class. The data of  the research were gathered through documentation and test. The result of research showed that: (1) students’ learning achivement by using problem posing learning method with CTL approach was better than students’ learning achivement by using problem posing method and conventional learning, and students’ learning achivement by problem posing learning method was same as conventional learning method, (2) mathematics achievement of students with high intelligence level was better than that of students with medium and low intelligence level, and mathematics achievement of students with medium intelligence level was better than that of students with low intelligence level, (3) in learning by using problem posing learning method with CTL approach, the level of intelligence had the same effect in students’ learning achievement, in learning by using problem posing method, students with high intelligence level had performance as good as the students with medium intelligence level and were better than the students with low intelligence level, in learning by using conventional learning, students with high intelligence level had better learning achivement than students with medium intelligence level and low intelligence level, and learning achievement of students with medium intelligence level was the same as students with low intelligence level, (4) at the level of students’ intelligence with high, medium and low, problem posing learning method with CTL approach, problem posing learning method and conventional method produced the same effect in learning achievement. Abstract

The purpose of this research describe the distribution and trends of theundergraduate thesis that conducted by the Mathematics Education Departmentstudents in terms of the research type, focus of the research, research materials,and research subject, and also describe the difficulties experienced by thestudents. This research is a qualitative case study. The subjects of the researchare 8 th semester of Mathematics Education Department students in the academicyear 2014-2015. The data collecting technique used questionnaire and interviewmethods. The data validity used triangulation method, coordinating betweenquestionnaire and interview data. Results of this research are: (1) the type ofstudent research is quantitative; (2) the focus of the research is learning modeland problem solving; (3) the research material is Geometri; and (4) the researchsubject is junior high school students. In addition, the results obtained thestudent difficulties in arrange the undergraduate thesis and also the solutionsare: (1) they can’t organize their time, the solution make a good planning, (2) thedifficulty in finding, determine the problem, and also determine theundergraduate thesis title, the solution make an undergraduate thesis mapactivities; (3) the difficulty of processing and data analysis and also the laziness,the solution is motivate yourself; (4) The difficulty to meet the lecturers, thesolution is discuss with friends, lecturers, and also family; and (5) the difficultyduring made the instrument, the solution is looking for and reading references.Keywords: trends of the undergraduate thesis , distribution of the undergraduatethesis

Abstract

The study aims to know the effectiveness of mathematics teaching material used based on ethnomathematics toward mathematical solving problem skill and student critical thinking and to know how student activity on mathematics learning by applying mathematics teaching material based on ethnomathematics. Research method applies a quantitative method with post-test only control design research type. Sampling technique applies cluster random sampling. Data collection technique applies documentation, observation, and test method. Data analysis technique applies quantitative data analysis by using t-test. Based on data analysis result, mathematics teaching material based on ethnomathematics proves effective toward solving problem skill and student mathematical critical thinking. Besides, by applying mathematics teaching material can raise student activity.

Abstract

This study’s aim is to find out experimentation of discovery learning model and direct learning model to critical thinking ability in terms of learning motivation of learners in quadrilateral and triangle mater. The method used in this study is quantitative in the form of quasi experiments. Instruments in this study are critical thinking skills tests presented in the form of post-test, learning motivation questionnaire and observation sheet. Hypothesis test analysis in this research is anava test of two cell road is not equal to the significant level α = 5%. Based on the research results can be concluded that: (1) There is a difference of critical thinking ability between learners using discovery learning model with learners using direct learning model; (2) There is a difference of critical thinking ability of learners who have high learning motivation with learners who have low learning motivation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kemampuan kognitif siswa pada langkah-langkah pemecahan masalah ditinjau dari kecerdasan logis-matematis pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif jenis studi kasus. Subjek penelitian diambil dari populasi kelas VIII di SMP Khalifah Boarding School. Tahap pertama penelitian ini adalah pengambilan data yang dilakukan sebanyak dua kali, yaitu menggunakan instrumen angket kecerdasan logis-matematis yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pemetaan kecerdasan logis-matematis siswa yang nantinya akan dipilih tiga orang sebagai subjek penelitian dengan tingkatan kecerdasan logis-matematis yang berbeda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) siswa yang memiliki kecerdasan logis-matematis tinggi memiliki kemampuan kognitif yang baik pada tingkatan mengingat, memahami, menerapkan, menganalisis, dan mengevaluasi. (2) Siswa dengan tingkat kecerdasan logis matematis sedang tidak bisa dikatakan memiliki kemampuan kognitif yang cukup, bahkan masih terbilang rendah, karena siswa tersebut masih belum dikatakan baik pada kemampuan kognitif menerapkan. Hal ini dikarenakan siswa tidak bisa menerapkan konsep atau rumus yang diingat dengan baik sehingga nilai yang didapatkan tidak tepat. (3) Siswa dengan tingkat kecerdasan logis matematis rendah memiliki kemampuan kognitif yang rendah. Hal ini dikarenakan siswa tersebut tidak sampai pada tahap memahami. (4) Kecerdasan logis-matematis tidak berbanding lurus dengan kemampuan kognitif. (5) Faktor penyebab rendahnya kemampuan kognitif siswa adalah sebagai berikut: (a) Kurangnya pemahaman tentang materi yang diterapkan pada tes, (b) Lemahnya keterampilan dalam memperoleh informasi dari soal, (c) Kurang teliti dalam pemecahan masalah, (d) Pesimis dan kurang percaya diri.

Abstract

This article discusses the application of Realistic Mathematics Education approaches against the ability of mathematical reasoning and understanding of the students. The purpose of this research is to 1) know the comparison the ability between students who learn to use Realistic mathematics education approach with scientific approach, 2) know the comparative ability of reasoning mathematically between students who learn to use Realistic mathematics education approach with scientific approach, 3) know the difference between the understanding of mathematical concepts and reasoning of students. Data collection techniques was in the form of test result data post test as the learning outcomes of students. The data analysis used t test with two samples and test the correlation with significance level 0.05. As for the results of the analysis of the data shows that the 1) the ability of understanding the concept of students who use Realistic mathematics education approach better than students who use scientific approach, 2) mathematical reasoning ability of students using Realistic mathematics education approach better than students who use scientific approach, 3) there is a connection between the understanding of mathematical concepts and reasoning of students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe matters relating to mathematics in the architecture of traditional houses in Sukabumi. This type of research is a qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data display, verification and inference. The results of this study indicate that in the architecture there are mathematical elements including geometry consisting of rectangles, squares, and lengths. The results of this study are expected to be used as an innovation in mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Abstrak: Masih banyaknya guru yang belum bisa memanfaatkan ICT, khususnya dalam pembuatan administrasi pembelajaran maupun dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran di Taman Kanak-kanak Islam Terpadu (TKIT) Raudhatunnajah Kadudampit, menjadi salah satu hambatan tercapainya tujuan pendidikan di era revolusi industry 4.0. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru TKIT Raudhatunnajah Kadudampit dalam penggunaan aplikasi komputer sebagai penunjang pembelajaran. Hasil yang dicapai berdasarkan indikator ketercapaian program, yaitu a) terlaksanya kegiatan mencapai 100%; b) tingkat kehadiran peserta 100%; c) tingkat partisipasi peserta mencapai 76,67%; d) tingkat pemahaman peserta mencapai 77,5%; dan e) kehadiran narasumber terlaksana yaitu 100%. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan penyusunan administrasi pembelajaran berbasis ICT bagi guru-guru TKIT Raudhatunnajah Kadudampit sudah terlaksana dengan baik.Abstract: There are still many teachers who have not been able to take advantage of ICT, especially in the making of learning administration and in the implementation of learning in the integrated Islamic kindergarten (TKIT) Raudhatunnajah Kadudampit, becoming one of the obstacles in achieving educational goals in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Therefore, community service is carried out to improve the skills of TKIT Raudhatunnajah Kadudampit teachers in using computer applications to support learning. The results achieved are based on program achievement indicators, namely a) the implementation of activities reaches 100%; b) 100% attendance rate; c) the participation rate of participants reached 76.67%; d) the level of understanding of the participants reached 77.5%, and e) the attendance of the resource person is 100%. Therefore, training on the preparation of ICT-based learning administration for TKIT Raudhatunnajah Kadudampit teachers has been carried out well.

Abstract

The purpose of this ethnomatematics research is to describe the process of calculating auspicious days for Javanese wedding in Purworejo. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach which used interviews to collect the data. The subject of this research was an individual who implemented the process of calculating auspicious days in Javanese society. The results show that the process of calculating auspicious days for Javanese wedding in Purworejo was an activity that could be possibly used as mathematics learning.
