Abstract

The aim of the present research was to study the quality changes of buffalo’s milk stored in different time period after milking. About 10 liters of fresh buffalo milk which were obtained from Lembah Gumanti, Solok district were used in the experiment. The milk was divided and placed into four groups and stored in room temperature for 4 different time periods: 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours immediately after milking. Parameter measured included: pH, specific gravity and colony number of bacteria. Data was statistically analyzed by variance analysis in Block Randomized Design (RBD) with 4 treatments and 5 replicates. The results indicated that there was significant effect (P<0.01) among the treatment on the characteristic of buffalo milk. It showed that increasing of the storage time after milking have decreased pH and increased specific gravity and bacteria count.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kecamatan Lintong Nihuta  sangat potensial bagi pengembangan ternak kerbau karena daya dukung wilayah yang cukup luas. Ternak kerbau merupakan ternak utama yang dipelihara pada daerah ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis  produksi hijauan dan komposisi botani pastura alam Kecamatan Lintong Nihuta, Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan, Provinsi Sumatera Utara untuk pengembangan budidaya ternak kerbau. Metode yang yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei dan pengamatan langsung di lapangan. Pengukuran produksi hijauan dilakukan menggunakan kuadran  ukuran 1 m x 1 m. Analisis komposisi botani pastura alam dilakukan menggunakan metode Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR) berdasarkan frekuensi (keseringan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 74.71% hijauan pada padang  penggembalaan adalah rumput, yang didominasi oleh rumput banto (Leersia hexandra) 17,73%, dan sangat miskin legum (1,28%). Produksi biomassa mencapai 20,07% ton/ha/tahun, sehingga dapat menampung ternak 2,70 ST/ha/tahun. Kualitas nutrisi pastura alam terukur rendah karena kandungan protein kasar (PK) hanya 5.92%, hal ini disebabkan rendahnya proporsi gulma pada pastura. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa produksi hijauan dan kapasitas tampung pastura alam di Kecamatan Lintong Nihuta cukup tinggi namun kualitas nutrisi hijauan masih rendah karena proporsi legum yang rendah.Kata Kunci: Kapasitas tampung, Kerbau murrah, Komposisi botani, Lintong Nihuta Botanical Compotiton and Carrying Capacity Analysis in Lintong Nihuta District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra ProvinceABSTRACT Lintong Nihuta Subdistrict is very potential for the livestock farming of buffalo because the carrying capacity of the area is quite broad. Buffaloes are the primary livestock kept in this area. This study analyzes forage production and the botanical composition of natural pastures in Lintong Nihuta District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra Province, to buffalo farming. The method used in this research is a survey and direct observation in the field. Measurement of forage production used a quadrant measuring 1 m x 1 m. The analysis of the botanical composition of natural pastures used the Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR) method based on frequency. The results showed that 74.71% of the forage in the range was grass,  was dominated by banto grass (Leersia hexadra) 17.73%, and was very poor in legumes (1.28%). Biomass production reaches 20.07% ton/ha/year. It could accommodate livestock 2.70 AU/ha/year. The nutritional quality of the natural pasture is measurably low because the crude protein content is only 5.92%. It is due to the low proportion of weeds in the pasture. Based on those findings, it can be concluding that the forage production and the holding capacity of the natural pasture in Lintong Nihuta District are high. Abstract

Program ini dilaksanakan pada kelompok tani peternak yang ada di Jorong Kayu Maranting Nagari Tanjung Bonai Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Jorong Kayu Maranting merupakan satu-satunya Jorong setelah Jorong Padang Laweh di Nagari Tanjung Bonai yang memproduksi dadih susu kerbau. Di jorong kayu maranting ini ada terdapat pengolahan susu kerbau menjadi dadih yang telah berjalan sejak lama. Dalam pemanfaatannya dadih Jorong Kayu Maranting masih di konsumsi secara langsung dan belum banyak dilakukan inovasi produk berbahan baku dadih. Dari permasalahan di atas maka timbullah solusi dalam pengembangan pemanfaatan isolat dadih sebagai bahan baku dalam inovasi pembuatan yogurt. Dimana dari bahan baku dadih tersebut akan di isolasi bakteri asam laktat kandidat probiotik Sehingga masyarakat dapat mengetahui potensi dari dadih yang berasal dari Jorong Kayu Maranting. Selain itu diharapkan juga pemanfaatan isolat dadih ini dapat meningkatkan taraf inovasi produk berbasis fermentasi yogurt. Sehingga berpotensi dalam bidang usaha dan menunjang kesehatan. Program pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan metode pemberdayaan dengan beberapa pendekatan yaitu metode pembelajaran dan pendampingan dengan tim pengabdi sebagai fasilitator dalam penyelesaian masalah. Setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan, evaluasi dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengetahuan peternak tentang teknologi pengolahan yogurt. Dari hasil penelitian secara molekuler dan identifikasi bakteri asam laktat isolat Dadih asal Jorong Kayu Maranting didapatkan Lactobacillus fermentum.

Abstract

Harapan Makmur Farmer Group is one of dairy farmer group in Padang. Located at Air Dingin, Balai Gadang, Koto Tangah district. Implementation of community service aims to develop a group of dairy farmers by providing knowledge in the form of the importance of hygiene and milking sanitation sanitation on milk quality. The specific target of this activity is to ensure the safety of milk consumed by the public in accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 2011 which contain minimum 3% of fat, 2.7% of protein, 8% solid non fat (SNF) and maximum contaminated with 1x106 CFU/ml of microba. This community service using the transfer knowledge method, that was counseling, discussion, and pilot project. Brochures were used to support this community service activity. Guidance and coaching for farmers were carried out periodically through coordination with the group leader. This community service program was beneficial in the implementation of science and information on hygienic maintenance of dairy cows and the application of good milking sanitation. The quality of milk produced Harapan Makmur farmer groups after this community service program has fulfilled SNI standardssuch as fat content 4.02% , protein 3.56%, and total plate count (TPC) 2.5x105 CFU/ml, but still low in SNF that is 6.95%, it’s caused by improper feeding manajement, where cows consume too much tofu dregs that contain high water content. Farmers are expected to implementa good dairy maintenance management to improve milk quality, so that it will increase the selling price which also followed by increased income and welfare of farmers.

Abstract

The Durian Sakek Farmer Group is one of the farmer groups that raised buffaloes whose milk is milked for dadih, located in Nagari Pematang Panjang, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatera. Buffalo cattle are kept simply released in natural pastures with low feed quality conditions and low milk production. It can be done through improving the quality of feed ingredients. The easiest way to do this is supplementing feeds by utilizing local forage such as cassava leaves with high protein content and widely available in the local area. This activity aims to provide knowledge in technological innovations in the use of local forage feed, especially cassava leaves as a feed supplement for buffalo cattle, so that it can increase buffalo milk production followed by increasing farmer income.The specific target is expected to be to foster community self-help in the utilization of local forage feed as animal feed. The method applied is counselling, training/pilot, discussion, guidance and coaching. The results obtained from this activity increased milk production by 1.05 vs 1.09 l /day and milk quality also increased fat 5.75 vs 7.46%, protein 4.05 vs 5.25%, SNF 10.66 vs 11.45%, Total solid 16.39 vs 19.95 and moisture 83.60 vs 80.05%. The conclusion of this activity is the provision of cassava leaves as supplement feed in the pellets form can increase the production and quality of buffalo milk producing dadih.

Abstract

This activity aims to increase buffalo milk production by improving feed management through the application of science and technology will lead to an increase in the income of Murrah buffalo breeders. This program is conducted to the Kelok Rambai livestock Group, Kapau, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. This farmer group received assistance from the provincial government of West Sumatra, 15 Murrah buffaloes as milk producers, where the milk produced is fermented into curd. The pattern of maintenance is semi-intensive and the feed provided is inadequate both in quantity and quality and the lack of knowledge of farmers so that the productivity of buffaloes is still low. The method of activities carried out in this service is participatory community empowerment including counseling, training, guidance, discussion and evaluation/monitoring. The training/pilot of feed technology introduced is multi-nutrient feed supplement, namely Urea Saka Blok, and ammoniated rice straw as a quality fiber feed ingredient. In addition, the cultivation of legume feed is indigofera plants which can be used as green concentrate because high protein content. The results of using ammoniated rice straw supplemented with Urea Saka Blok in buffaloes increased feed consumption significantly from an average of 2.5% to 2.75% of body weight or an increase of 0.25%. This increase in feed consumption has implications for milk production which was initially 2 liters per day, increased to 3 liters per day or an increase of about 50%, and what is quite interesting is that until the 10th month of lactation milk production is still 3 liters per day. It is hoped that the community service activities at the Kelok Rambai Cattle Farmer Group can increase the income of group members, apply good maintenance management, increase motivation, apply sustainable introduced feed technology and make Nagari Kapau as one of the centers for Murrah buffalo farming producing milk/curd. in West Sumatra.

Abstract

The community service program is conducted at the Kelok Rambai livestock Group, Kapau, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. the Kelok Rambai livestock Group is a group of livestock that raises Murrah buffalo but has not implemented good maintenance management. Maintenance management that has not been appropriately managed and farmers' lack of knowledge are the main obstacles faced at the service location. The productivity of Murrah buffalo is still very low. This service activity aims to improve maintenance management, improve the income of Murrah buffalo farmers with the application of good management, and the application of science and technology and research results to develop independent businesses. The method of activities carried out in this service is participatory community empowerment, including counseling, training/ pilots, guidance/ guidance, discussion/ consultation, and evaluation/monitoring. It is hoped that from community service activities to Kelok Rambai livestock Group, it can increase income for group members, implement good maintenance management, increase motivation, use appropriate technology and make Kapau one of the central Murrah buffalo farms producing milk and “dadih” in West Sumatra.

Abstract

The Murrah buffalo is a breed of dairy-type river buffalo that has better milk production than the Mud buffalo. In West Sumatra, buffaloes are generally kept traditionally and the feed provided is low-quality field grass without providing concentrate so that productivity has not shown good results. This increase in productivity can be done through improving maintenance management and improving the quality of the feed given to buffaloes. Community service is an activity that aims to provide knowledge in technological innovation to breeders in the form of providing probiotics and the use of local forage feeds, especially cassava leaves as supplementary feed for buffaloes to increase production and quality of buffalo milk in order to increase farmers' income, while the specific target is expected to foster community self-reliance. in an effort to use local forage as animal feed. The method applied is counseling, training/pilots and discussion are the best ways to transfer knowledge and technology to farmers, while guidance and coaching can be done periodically through coordination with the head of the Kelok Rambai Cattle Farmer's group, Nagari Kapau, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. is the only livestock group in Kab. Agam who raises Murrah buffalo as a producer of curd. The results obtained were an increase in milk production 3.25 vs 4.75 l/day and milk quality: fat 5.47 vs 6.26%, Protein 4.35 vs 5.60%, SNF 10.76 vs 11.85% and water content 82.20 vs 81.75%. The conclusion of this activity is that the provision of probiotics and cassava leaf pellet supplement feed can increase the production and quality of Murrah buffalo milk and increase the income of farmers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi aspek teknis pemeliharaan kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE) berdasarkan panduan Good Dairy Farming Practice (GDFP) di PT. Boncah Utama Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Metode yang digunakan adalah survey dan  observasi langsung di Usaha Peternakan kambing PE PT Boncah Utama dan analisis laboratorium. Sebaanyak 15 ekor kambing PE diberi perlakuan dengan menerapkan Good Milking Practices (GMiP).  Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif. Peubah yang diamati adalah total plate count dan evaluasi aspek teknis pemeliharaan menggunakan kuisioner yang berpedoman pada pelaksanaan GDFP modifikasi dari metode FAO/IDF (2010) dan penghitungan kandungan total bakteri susu (Total Plate Count). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan GDFP di Peternakan Kambing PE PT Boncah Utama Kabupaten Tanah Datar sudah cukup baik dan analisis keragaman terhadap TPC menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh nyata terhadap total plate count susu (P kecil dari 0.05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah evaluasi GDFP di PT Bocah Utama sudah cukup baik dan sangat penting diterapkan  untuk memastikan susu yang dihasilkan berkualitas dan memenuhi standar yang sudah ditetapkan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan limbah industri kelapa sawit (bungkil inti sawit dan lumpur sawit) dan tanaman paitan (Tithonia diversifolia) sebagai pakan alternatif kambing PE yang dilihat dari kandar air, lemak dan solid non fat. Materi yang di gunanakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 18 ekor kambing PE pada laktasi dan bulan laktasi kedua serta susu kambing PE dari pemerahan pada pagi hari untuk analisis kualitas susu. Parameter yang diamati adalah kadar air, lemak dan solid non fat. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen, dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan yaitu pemberian hijauan Tithonia diversifolia dan penggantian ransum konsentrat kambing PE dengan campuran konsentrat hasil penelitian Arief et al., (2018) dilakukan dengan beberapa tingkatan level yang berbeda yaitu: A = 50% hijauan standar + 50% ampas tahu + 0% konsentrat sawit, B = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 50% ampas tahu + 0% konsentrat sawit, C = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 37,5% ampas tahu + 12,5% konsentrat sawit, D = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 25%ampas tahu + 25% konsentrat sawit, E = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 12,5% ampas tahu + 37,5% konsentrat sawit dan F = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 0% ampas tahu + 50% konsentrat sawit. Hasil yang didapatkan pada penelitian secara berurutan adalah sebagai berikut: kadar air (84,39-85,46%), lemak (3,59-3,64%) dan solid non fat (9,39-9,59%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian limbah industri kelapa sawit dan Tithonia diversifolia dapat digunakan sebagai pakan alternatif pada ternak kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE).Kata Kunci: kadar air, kambing PE, lemak susu, solid non fat, Tithonia diversifoliaWater Content, Fat and Solids Non-Fat Milk of Etawa Crossbreed Goats Fed Tithonia diversifolia Forage and Concentrates from Palm Oil Industry WasteABSTRACT. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of using Palm Oil Industry Waste (Palm Kernel Cake and Palm Oil Mud) and Paitan plants (Tithonia diversifolia) as an alternative feed for PE goats as seen from water content, fat, and solid non-fat. The materials used in this study were 18 PE goats in lactation and the second month of lactation and PE goat's milk from milking in the morning to analyze milk quality. Parameters observed were the content of water, fat and non-fat solids. The method used was the Experimental method, with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments and three replications, namely the provision of Tithonia diversifolia forage and replacement of PE goat concentrate rations with a concentrate mixture research by Arief et al. (2018) carried out with several levels different levels, namely: A = 50% Standard Forage + 50% Tofu Dregs + 0% Palm Concentrate, B = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 50% Tofu Dregs + 0% Palm Concentrate, C = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 37.5% Tofu Dregs + 12.5% Palm Concentrate, D = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 25% Tofu Dregs + 25% Palm Concentrate, E = 50% Paitan Plant + 12.5% Tofu Dregs + 37.5% Palm Concentrate and F = 50% Tithonia diversifolia + 0% Tofu Dregs + 50% Palm Concentrate. The results obtained in sequential studies were as follows: Moisture content (84.39-85.46%), Fat (3.59-3.64%), and solid non-fat (9.39-9.59%). Based on the study results, Palm Oil Industry Waste and Paitan Plants can be used as alternative feed for Etawa Peranakan (PE) goats.
