Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the prevalence of major gastrointestinal helminthiasis and protozoal infections, the kinds of helminth and protozoa that infects and the effect of sex on pigeons in Tuban. Pigeons are taken from five The Tuban area is Widang, Montong, Jenu, Soko, Jatirogo. Each area is taken as many as 20 pigeons consists of 10 male pigeons and 10 female pigeons. Laboratory examinations were carried out in November to December 2021. Samples were examined by the native method, sedimentation, and flotation. Identification using a microscope using a 40x objective scale and 10x ocular scale. Data analysis using chi square test statistical analysis. 81% of the samples were positive for helminthiasis infection. Chi square test statistical analysis showed p value 0.022 (p<0.05) which means significantly different. 71% of samples were positive for gastrointestinal protozoa infection in pigeons in Tuban. Chi square test Results Statistical analysis shows p the value of 0.123 (p>0.05) which means that it is not significantly different. Type of protozoa found that Heterakis gallinarum (45%), Ascaridia columbae (42%), Capillaria sp. (41%), and Eimeria sp. (71%). That prevalence of helminthiasis in male pigeons higher (45%) compared to female pigeons (36%).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the type and percentage of ectoparasites attacking the cattle cow in the Kendit Sub-District, Situbondo District. The research was conducted from July to September 2020 with 100 samples of cow taken. The identification of ectoparasites was carried out at The Laboratory of the Animal Health Center of Situbondo Regency. This study was survey with a cross-sectional design. This study found several ectoparasites of the type of flies that infested the cattle cow: Musca domestica 29.20%, Haematobia irritans 58.96%, Stomoxys calcitrans 2.82%, Tabanus rubidus 0.42%, Tabanus megalops 0.56%, Hippobosca maculata 0.14%. In addition, this study also found ectoparasites of fleas that attacked the cattle cow, among others Bovicola bovis 2.12%, and Haematopinus eurysternus 5.78%. In this study, the dominant type of fly ectoparasite was Haematobia irritans 58.96% and the dominant ectoparasite from flea was Haematopinus eurysternus 5.78%. The suggestions for this research were this research should be continued with a longer time, the fishing method must be more varied because the more fishing methods used, the higher diversity results and it is advisable to maintain cage sanitation, improve maintenance management, and the cleanliness of cattle sheds surroundings to maintain cattle condition.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis, prevalensi, dan pengaruh jenis kelamin serta umur terhadap prevalensi parasit saluran pencernaan pada kerbau di Kabupaten Agam Provinsi Sumatra Barat. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah feses dari 105 ekor kerbau yang dikumpulkan dari tiga Kecamatan. Pemeriksaan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode natif, sedimentasi, dan pengapungan. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa ditemukan infeksi saluran pencernaan pada kerbau berupa cacing Paramphistomum sp. 31,43%, Fasciola sp. 23,81%, Oesophagustomum sp. 1,9%, Bunostomum sp. 0,95%, Strongyloides sp. 0,95%, Trichostrongylus sp. 0,95%, dan protozoa Eimeria sp. 2,86%. Prevalensi yang diperoleh sebesar 45,7% (48/105). Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa jenis kelamin dan umur tidak mempengaruhi prevalensi parasit saluran pencernaan pada kerbau di Kabupaten Agam Sumatra Barat.Keywords: cacing dan protozoa, kerbau, prevalensi, saluran pencernaanPrevalence of Gastrointestinal Parasite in Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) Through Feces Examination in Agam Regency West SumatraABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the type, prevalence, and influence of sex and age on the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites on buffalo in the Agam Regency of West Sumatra Province. This study provides results that found gastrointestinal infections in buffalo by helminth Paramphistomum sp. 31.43%, Fasciola sp. 23.81%, Oesophagustomum sp. 1.9%, Bunostomum sp. 0.95%, Strongyloides sp. 0.95%, Trichostrongylus sp. 0.95%, and protozoa Eimeria sp. 2,86%. Prevalence is 45.7% (48/105). Abstract

The purpose of this research is to prove that pare leaf extract (Momordica charantia L.) has anthelmintic activity against Raillietina sp. in vitro. This study consisted of four treatments and each treatment contained six replications, each of which consisted of six worms. The treatments in this research were K- with 1% CMC-Na, P1 with 2% extract concentration, P2 with 4% extract concentration, P3 with 8% extract concentration. Pare leaf extract has anthelmintic activity against Raillietina sp. in vitro with an effective dose of 8%. The higher the concentration of pare leaf extract, the higher the mortality rate of worms. The longer the immersion time, the higher the number of dead worms.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know about the staging of spermatogenesis and leydig cells in mice that injected by Toxoplasma gondii after giving honey as a preventive substance. This research used 25 mice in age 2-4 month with 20-30 weight. Mice were divided into 5 groups (P0, P1, P2, P3 dan P4). P0 as a control teratment were given aquades in peroral, P1 was a group given honey in doses I (0.08ml/0.2ml/day) during 14 days in peroral, P2 was a group that given infection by T.gondii in doses 103 in peritonial, P3 was given honey in doses I 0.08ml/0.2ml/day) then injected by T.gondii, and P4 was given honey in doses II (0.12ml/0.2ml/day) then injected by T.gondii. This research conducted in 18 days, in day 14th mice were given honey and the day 15th–18th mice injected by T.gondii doses 103. The data result was analyzed with Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) and cotinued with Duncan. Comparision statistical showed with SPSS statistic 20 for Windows. The result of analysis, P0 and P1 were significantly different (p<0.05), with the increase number of spermatogenic and leydig cells. P0 and P2 also significantly different, with the decrease number of spermatogenic and leydig cells. In P2 and P3 group were not significantly different (P>0.05), also in P4 group were not significantly different with P0 and P1. The results of this research showed that honey in doses II can maintain the number of sprematogenic and leydig cells as a preventive substance against T.gondii.
