Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kacang panjang (Vigna unguiculata) dengan pengenceran bervariasi terhadap struktur mikroskopis ginjal mencit yang diinduksi aloksan. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 12 ekor mencit (Mus musculus) jantan dengan rata-rata bobot badan 25-40 g yang dibagi menjadi empat kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok pertama (K0) sebagai kontrol negatif, hanya diberi akuades. Kelompok K1, K2, dan K3 diinduksi aloksan masing-masing 0,5 ml. Kelompok K1 sebagai kontrol positif. Kelompok K2 diberikan terapi 100 g kacang panjang yang dicampurkan dengan 50 ml akuades, sebanyak 0,5 ml. Perlakuan keempat (K3) diberikan terapi 100 g kacang panjang yang dicampurkan dengan 100 ml akuades, sebanyak 0,5 ml. Terapi diberikan pada pagi dan sore hari selama waktu 7 hari , secara oral dengan menggunakan sonde lambung. Pada hari ke-8 semua mencit dieutanasia dengan menggunakan kloroform dan diambil organ ginjal untuk pembuatan preparat histologis dan pemeriksaan struktur mikroskopis. Perubahan struktur mikroskopis diperiksa berdasarkan parameter sel glomerulus, sel tubulus hemoragi, peradangan dan nekrosis. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, pemberian kacang panjang pada kelompok K2 dan kelompok K3 dapat memperbaiki struktur glomerulus dan tubulus ginjal.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the red dragon fruit peels (Hylocereus polyrhizus) extract on the growth of Salmonella pullorum. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Microbiology, Veterinary Faculty, University of Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh. Red dragon fruit peels that used in this study is obtained from  ripe fruit and Salmonella pullorum cultures is  obtained from  Microbiology Laboratory of Veterinary Faculty Unsyiah. Salmonella pullorum culture added evenly on the surface of Mueller Hinton Agar, the number of the bacteria have been standarized using Mc Farland'1 method. Discs soaked in the red dragon fruit peels extracts at different concentrations (20 mg/ml, 40 mg/mL, and 60 mg/ml). Ampicillin is used as positive controls and DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) was placed on the surface of Mueller Hinton Agar. The parameters in this study is the inhibition zone diameter. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the red dragon fruit peel extract is able to inhibit the growth of Salmonella  pullorum and the average of  inhibition diameter zone at a concentration 60 mg / ml is 9.6 mm, 40 mg / ml is 9.4 mm and 20 mg / ml is 9.3 mm

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Indigofera sp. leaf to increase protein content of rabbit meat (Origtolagus sp). This study used a complete randomized design, consisted of 3 treatments and 3 replications. The samples were nine local male rabbits aged two months. P0 was control group which was given commercial feed, P1 was given 80% commercial feed and 20% Indigofera sp. pellet leaf, and P2 was given 70% commercial feed and 30%  Indigofera sp. pellet leaf. The feeding and drinking was conducted at 07:00 to 08:00 am and at 04:00 to 05:00 pm ad libitum. Protein content was measured using Kjeldahl method after eight weeks of treatments. The data was analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with SPSS v16.0 for Windows. The results showed that mean value (±SD) of meat protein for P0, P1 and P2 were 18.79+0.81%, 19.40+0.33% and 20.88+0.74%, respectively. We can conclude that the leaves of Indigofera sp. was highly significant (P0,01) in increasing protein level of rabbit meat at a concentration of 30%.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to observe the histological of the thymus in tegal duck (Anas javanicus) according to the variation of ages. The animals used in this research were one month, two months and three months old of tegal duck. The thymus of each duck was analyzed by Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) method and then observed under a light microscope. The result of the research performed differences in thymus structure of these three ages. The cortex had increased at the age of 2 months and decreased at the age of 3 months. The longest diameter of medulla at the age of 3 months was followed by ages 2 months and 1 month of tegal ducks.  The distribution of Hassall's body had increased at every age level. So, the cortex thickness decreased at the age of 2 months to 3 months, while the diameter of the medulla was getting longer.

Abstract

This research aims to know the accuracy of transcutaneus ultrasonography (USG) to determine number of kacang goat (Capra sp.) foetal. The animals used in this research were 6 goats aged of 1.5-2.5 years old, have a normal estrus cycle and mated naturally. The inspection was conducted after 53 to 97 days of pregnancy. The results showed that two goats were diagnosed as positive single pregnant (one foetus), and the others (four goats) were diagnosed as positive multiple pregnant (two foetus). Two goats were diagnosed single pregnant confirmed at delivered time in which all goats gave birth to one goat. All of the goats diagnosed positive multiple pregnant were gave birth to two goats. The accuracy of using transcutaneus USG to determine the number of single foetus and twins are 100%.Key words: ultrasonography, transcutaneus, accuracy, kacang goat, foetus

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian getah buah pepaya (Carica papaya, L.) dan povidone iodine terhadap kesembuhan luka kastrasi pada kucing (Felis domestica) jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan enam ekor kucing yang dibuat luka kastrasi, dibagi dalam dua kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok I (K1) dioleskan dengan getah buah pepaya dan Kelompok II (K2) dioleskan povidone iodine dua kali sehari selama tujuh hari berturut-turut. Parameter yang diamati adalah kesembuhan luka dengan memperhatikan tingkat kemerahan pada luka, kebengkakan, cairan radang, dan pertautan tepi luka. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap hari dan data hasil pengamatan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa luka kastrasi pada K1 lebih cepat sembuh yaitu pada hari ke 4-5 dibandingkan K2 yaitu pada hari 6-7. Getah buah pepaya bisa dijadikan alternatif pengobatan tradisional dalam penyembuhan luka terutama luka sayat.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the analgesic potential of sernai leaves n-Hexan extract on 24 male mice, aged 2-3 month with 20-25 g weighed. This study used split-plot design consisted of 6 groups. P0 as negative control was given aquades and P1 as positive control was given ibuprofen (10 mg/kg Body Weight). Treatment groups including P2, P3, P4, and P5 were given n-Hexan extract of sernai leaves with dosage of 15, 30, 45, and 60 mg/kgBW, respectively. Pain assessment was conducted using Hot Plate method. Observation of mice behaviour including licking it's front and back leg, or by jumping. This study showed there was significant difference (P0,05) between dosage and time. Duncan’s test showed P1 was significantly different (P0,05) from P2, but P3 and P5 were not significantly different from P1. P3 and P4 were significantly different (P0,05) from P2 and not significantly different from P1, while P5 was not significantly different from P3 and significantly different from P1. We can conclude that dosage of 30 and 45 mg/kgBW of n-Hexan extract of sernai leaves had analgesic potential on mice, and 60 mg/kgBW was comparable to ibuprofen as pain relieve in mice

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kadar proksimat lemak pada ikan nila yang diberi suplemen tepung daun jaloh yang dikombinasi kromium dan dipapar stres panas. Sebanyak 30 ekor ikan nila dengan panjang 1,3-1,5 cm, dibagi menjadi enam perlakuan dengan lima kali ulangan yang terdiri atas pakan komersil pada suhu 29±1° C (P1S1), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh pada suhu 29±1° C(P2S1), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh dan kromium suhu pada 29±1° C (P3S1), pakan komersil pada suhu 35±1°C (P1S2), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh pada suhu 35±1° C (P2S2), dan pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh dan kromium pada suhu 35±1° C (P3S2). Setelah 15 hari, dihitung kadar proksimat lemak menggunakan metode Soxhlet dan Folsch. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rataan kadar proksimat lemak menurun. Berdasarkan uji statistik rancangan acak lengkap faktorial menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P0,01) oleh suhu dan pakan serta interaksi suhu dengan pakan juga berpengaruh sangat nyata (P0,01) terhadap kadar proksimat lemak. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa pakan komersil yang dikombinasikan daun jaloh dengan kromium dapat menurunkan kadar proksimat lemak ikan nila yang terpapar stres panas.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the potency of methanolic extract of sernai stem (Wedelia bilflora) as analgesic to mice (Mus muculus) compared to ibuprofen. This research use split-plot method with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Group P0 as negative control was given aquadest, P1 as positive control was given ibuprofen, while P2, P3, and P4 were given the extract with dosage of 40, 50, and 60 mg/kg bw, respectively. The pain analysis of mice was conducted using hotplate method and the observation was carried out at 0 minute, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes. The data was analyzed using analysis of varians (Anova) followed by Duncan’s test. The results of this research showed  that P1, P2, P3 and P4 had significant difference (P0,05) from P0. P1 did not have significant  difference (P0,05) from P2 but it was different from P3 and P4 (P0,05). From this result we can conclude that methanolic extract of sernai stem was potential as analgesic, dosage of 40 mg/kg bw was equal to ibuprofen, while 50 mg/kg bw and 60 mg/kg bw showed better effect than ibuprofen.

Abstract

ABSTRAK                Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tingkat kualitas kesempurnaan pengeluaran darah pada daging sapi saat  meugang di pasar induk Lambaro Aceh Besar. Penelitian ini menggunakan 10 sampel daging sapi dari 10 pedagang dimana setiap pedagang diambil 10 gram sampel daging sapi di pasar Induk Lambaro Aceh Besar: Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara deskriftif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 10 sampel daging sapi positif pengeluaran darah secara sempurna  dengan adanya perubahan warna biru pada ekstrak daging. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengeluaran darah pada waktu penyembelihan daging sapi saat meugang di Pasar Lambaro Aceh besar,  masih sangat baik dan darah keluar dengan sempurna.             Kata kunci :Daging sapi, Meugang, Kesempurnaan pengeluaran darah. ABSTRACT                    This study aims to determine the quality of expenditure perfection of blood extract on beef when meugang  at the Lambaro Aceh Besar main market. Testing the perfection of blood discharging using the Malachite Green reagent. This study used 10 meat samples with 10 gram samples from different traders. The results of this study showed positive results for the total number of samples marked in blue on the Malachite Green reagent. Based on this study it can be concluded that the release of blood at the time of slaughtering meugang beef in Lambaro Market, Greater Aceh is still very good and the blood comes out perfectly.  Keyword : Beef meat, meugang, perfection of blood expendation.
