Abstract

Distance learning demands extra work and adjustment of teachers in doing a task to educate their students. This condition causes a conflict such as interfering with wholeness that leads to family resilience conflict. In Islamic teaching, family resilience can be achieved by living the principles of zawaj (pair), mitsaqan-ghaliza (solid bond), musyaran (good association), and musyawarah (mutual agreement) in relationship between family members. The study aimed to find out the effect of work-life and social media balances on teachers' families' resilience and was measured by Islamic family resilience values. The participants were 161 teachers aged 21-36 years in Cikarang area of Bekasi Regency who used social media. Data was taken through Google-form with three scales, namely Islamic Family Resilience which was developed by Islamic family resilience aspect of BP4 called IMRS®, the scale of work balance was from Fisher, Bulger, & Smith (2009), and the scale of social media balance was from Kumar & Priyadarshini (2018). Data was taken by a nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed with multiple regression analysis. The results showed that the variables of work-life and social media balances had a significant effect on family resilience. The study also showed that three dimensions had a significant effect, namely (2) the mixing of person to work, (3) enrichment of personal life from work, and (6) the use of social media for personal. This study implied that the importance of understanding family members related to the fulfillment of common goals and must be communicated.

Abstract

The participation of women in the workforce creates challenges and problems. Those with various roles in their lives must be good at playing and balancing these successfully. This study focuses on the work-life balance factor by exploring the predictor factors including personality, family social support, and childcare responsibilities, as moderated by gender role attitude. A work/ nonwork interference and enhancement scale, mini-IPIP, gender role beliefs scale, and social support scale were developed for the data collection. A sample of 220 married female workers was identified using purposive sampling. The data analysis, which used multiple regression and a modgraph, shows a significant effect of personality, social support, and childcare responsibilities on the work-life balance moderated by gender role attitude. Four independent variables with significant influence are neuroticism, openness to experiencing family support, gender role attitude and there is a moderating effect on neuroticism and family support. The implication is the need to provide a comfortable work environment and arrangement of work patterns so that women's work-life balance can be achieved positively.

Abstract

Everybody aspires and deserves some personal well-being. This kind of well-being is subjective, and it is shaped by the way individuals perceive and feel the situations surrounding their lives. This study aimed to investigate the effect of gratitude and social support on fishermen's subjective well-being. This study's subjects were 299 fishermen living in the coastal area of Pelabuhan Ratu, who were chosen through an accidental sampling technique. In collecting data, subjective well-being was measured using Flourishing Scale and Scale of Positive and Negative Experience, Gratitude Scale, which was based on Gratitude Resentment and Appreciation Test, and Social Support Scale that was based on Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Multiple regression analysis showed that the entire independent variables significantly influenced subjective well-being. Meanwhile, each dimension's regressive coefficient on the independent variables showed four sub-variables that significantly influenced the dependent variables: sense of abundance, simple appreciation, appreciation to others, and family support.

Abstract

Abstract: This research examined the effect of psychological capital and the totality of work on the subjective well-being of employees. This study involved 169 employees of PT X, a state-owned mining company in Jakarta. Sampling conducted using non-probability sampling with accidental sampling technique. The instruments used consisted Flourishing Scale and Scale for Positive and Negative Scales (SPANE) modified by Diener et al. (2009), Psychological Capital Questionnaire 12 (PCQ-12) from Luthans et al. (2007), Utrecht work engagement Scale (UWES-9) from Balducci, Fraccaroli, and Schaufeli (2010). Data analysis technique was multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of major hypothesis testing, the first conclusion obtained from this study is that there is a significant influence of psychological capital and work engagement on the subjective well-being of employees of PT X. Then, the results showed that four variables regression coefficient value was significant, that is; (1) self-efficacy; (2) spirit; (3) dedication; and (4) absorption while three other variables are not significant. All of these variables have a positive effect on employee’s subjective well-being.

This research aims to measure the construct validity of the parent-child relationship scale developed by theory Miller, Benson and Galbraith (2001). The scale made by researcher consists of 24 items with three dimensions of parent-child relationship, that is support, open communication, and control of the parents will affect the child in conducting sexual behavior. This research just see the parent-child relationship from the side of the child (college student) so the researcher adds perception theory to clarify the purpose of the research, that is to see the college student perception about the relationship with the parents and the effect on sexual behavior. The sample this research is 200 respondents of male and female college student. The research data is analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) technique with lisrel 16.0 program. DOI: 10.15408/jp3i.v6i1.8152

Abstract

Humility has been a neglected virtue in the social and psychological sciences. Owing to the nature of the construct itself, humility poses some special challenges to researchers wishing to assess individual differences. Although there have been significant strides in research in humility, especially in intellectual humility, this research has yet to test measures of humility in non-Western, religious populations. The present study builds on previous research by testing Indonesian versions of humility scales. We measure humility construct based on eight domains identified by Davis and Hook (2014), namely openness/lack of superiority, other-oriented/unselfish, admit mistakes/teachable, interpersonal modesty, accurate view of self, global humility, spiritual humility, and regulate need for status. The data was analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) (N=390). Among 44 items theorized to measure Humility, 8 items do not fit the model and are deemed as not valid, while the other 36 items are valid. The recommendation for future research is to further develop the instrument of humility as some factors still have very few items.
