Abstract

The development of modules based on environmental attitudes has been initiated but has not yet been integrated with instruments. This research aims to develop learning biology material and test the instruments' reliability in improving students' environmental attitudes. This development research uses the 4D model by Thiagarajan (1974). Field testing was conducted involving 150 students of Senior High School 1 of Caringin – West Java, Indonesia. The data collection instruments using an expert validation sheet and students’ environmental attitudes sheet. Experts validation involved material, instructional design, and character education expert. Indicators for measuring environmental attitudes use the Environmental Attitude Scale (EAS), which consists of four subscales that refer to Ugulu (2013). According to EAS, the students' environmental attitudes are shown on the Eigen values of the four factors measured. The data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the suitability aspects of material design and character education followed the average values of 90, 78, and 88 respectively. Meanwhile, Eigen values for environmental awareness factors (5,718); attitudes towards recovery (4,683); attitudes towards recycling (3,512); environmental consciousness and behavior (2,285). While Cronbach Alpha coefficients 0.81. Thus, the instruments integrated into module development carried out in this study are very capable of measuring student environmental attitudes. This study recommends the use of modules in developing students' environmental attitudes.

Abstract

Keanekaragaman reptil di Indonesia mencakup 16% reptil yang ada di dunia. Pusat Suaka Satwa Elang Jawa merupakan salah satu kawasan dilindungi di Jawa Barat yang mampu menunjang kehidupan reptilia. Studi reptil merupakan hal yang sangat menarik namun publikasi mengenai data reptilia masih jarang ditemukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman kelas reptilia ordo squamata di PSSEJ. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksploratif yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2020 hingga Juli 2021. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode Visual Encounter Survey yang dikombinasikan dengan Line Transect dengan membuat dua jalur pengamatan. Pengambilan data berupa data primer (jumlah spesies reptilia ordo squamata di PSSEJ) dan data sekunder (suhu dan kelembapan). Populasi penelitian adalah semua jenis spesies dari ordo squamata yang ditemukan di PSSEJ TNGHS. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah spesies ordo squamata di kedua jalur penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan 196 individu dari 19 spesies, 7 spesies termasuk dalam sub ordo lacertilia, dan 12 spesies termasuk dalam sub ordo serpentes. Indeks keanekaragaman tergolong rendah dengan nilai rata-rata yaitu 1,75, indeks kemerataan tergolong tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata 0,69, dan indeks dominansi tergolong rendah dengan nilai rata-rata 0,25.

Abstract

Indonesia is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is often hit by natural disasters. The potential for co-occurrence with other natural disasters can exacerbate human losses and cause chaos. After the occurrence of natural disasters, in addition to causing many casualties and damage to infrastructure, the threat of health risks becomes a serious problem. Especially the emergence of infectious diseases. The number of fatalities indicates that community preparedness and mitigation against disasters are still poor. Disaster mitigation is the knowledge that students must have to have good preparedness behavior. Education related to disasters is usually based on theoretical knowledge so that it becomes less meaningful for students. For this reason, it is necessary to make efforts to increase the value of student preparedness with interesting learning media, one of which is by developing an e-magazine of disease outbreak disaster mitigation materials to improve student preparedness. Based on the results of observations in one high school in Bogor City, it was found that the level of student preparedness was still relatively low at 42%. This study aims to determine the effect of e-magazines on disease outbreak disaster mitigation materials on increasing student preparedness, as well as to determine the effectiveness of e-magazines on disease outbreak disaster mitigation materials. The study was conducted using the Research and development method using the ADDIE model (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation). The population in this study were students of class X MIPA with a sample of 30 respondents. The results showed that the e-magazine was able to increase the student's preparedness score to 69.67% which was in the medium category. The effectiveness of learning media can be seen from the responses of students and teachers. The percentage of the average value of student responses is 89.5% with a very effective category. Based on the results of the teacher's response questionnaire, the percentage was 84.17% with a very effective category.

Abstract

Higher education contributes to the improvement of students’ understanding and the change of behavior into being more responsible to the living environment. Strategies and approaches put as a learning model are required to solve the students’ problem related to environmental sensitivity. The models of free inquiry and concept mapping are able to plant the basics of scientific way of thinking in the students’ mind and help them develop critical thinking, creative and innovative patterns that can lead them to solve the problems related to the environment. The research is a classroom action research aimed at finding out a learning strategy which is more creative and innovative, improving students’ learning motivation, solving environmental problems and relating them to the students’ daily life. The research was conducted at Biology Education Study Program of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences Faculty, Pakuan University in the academic year of 2013-2014 involving the students of the third semester class A. The research consisted of two cycles. There were two treatments in each cycle. The research result shows that there was an improvement of students’ enthusiasm in the first cycle reaching 73% improved into 84% in the second cycle. The average score of students’ understanding on environmental pollution at the first cycle was 69.11% and the completion percentage was 66.67%, at the second cycle, the average score improved to 76.56 and the completion percentage became 83.33%. At the first cycle, the average score of students’ ability to solve environmental problems was 69.74 and the completion percentage was 63.33% at the second cycle, the average score improved to 77.69 and the completion percentage was 86.67%.

Abstract

Kegiatan dosen goes to school bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat peserta didik khususnya di SMA Negeri 1 Cisarua untuk melanjutkan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi guna mewujudkan pendidikan yang berkualitas untuk mencapai SDG’s dibidang pendidikan. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi bahwa tingkat presentase untuk melanjutkan studi ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi masih sangat rendah ini dikarenakan bukan hanya faktor ekonomi namun motivasi dari siswa yang rendah selain itu pola pikir dari orang tua yang menganggap bahwa jenjang pendidikan tertinggi sampai pada tingkat sekolah menengah atas (SMA). Metode pelaksanaan dalam pengabdian ini diawali dengan observasi dan wawancara dengan pihak sekolah, selanjutnya disepakati pelaksanaan dosen goes to school untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang dihadapi di SMAN 1 Cisarua. Dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini guru biologi SMAN 1 Cisarua selaku mitra memberikan kesempatan kepada para dosen untuk mengajar pada jam pelajaran di kelas XII dengan materi yang sudah ditentukan oleh pihak sekolah dan guru. Selesai proses pembelajaran dosen menjelaskan atau memperkenalkan bagaimana proses perkuliahan dan memberikan motivasi kepada siswa agar meningkatkan minat melanjutkan ke perguruan tinggi.
