Abstract

Knowledge is the student’s construction result that affect to the more meaningful learning. Sometimes, teachers forget that a student has self-live experiences as their initial concept. When expressed their initial concept, students will be easier to accept new material knowledge, because students will constructing their knowledge indirectly. The constructivism of learning is a teaching and learning process to make students themselves mentally active to construct their knowledge, based on cognitive structure that they ever had before. In the relationship to the student’s geometry concept, it must be considered how the students constructing this concept by their cognitive structure. Memorizing the mathematical formulation is not the guarantee that the students have been mastering to the real geometry. For example, to understand about height line in the triangle, is not an instantaneous process. It can be learned by constructing through an experiment to involving all student hands on activity process. Through the activity to make a height line, measuring, and calculating the triangle area, student will be led on the joyful activity, avoid to the bored, toward the  conclusion that every triangle, there are three height lines for the three triangle’s bases in each area.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pembelajaran yang lebih menekankan pada belajar menjawab pertanyaan daripada belajar menyajikan pertanyaan, menyebabkan kurangnya kesadaran siswa terhadap masalah. Hal ini mengakibatkan lemahnya kemampuan problem finding, sehingga kemampuan idea finding dan problem solving siswa juga lemah. Oleh karenanya, kemampuan creative problem solving menjadi sangat perlu dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Aspek-aspek kemampuan CPS yaitu objective finding, fact finding, problem finding, idea finding, solution finding, dan acceptance finding. Keenam aspek tersebut merupakan tahapan proses berpikir CPS. Untuk tujuan tersebut, diperlukan pembelajaran matematika yang lebih menggali kemampuan dalam menyajikan masalah serta menyelesaikan permasalahan yang dimunculkan oleh siswa itu sendiri, yaitu dengan menggunakan Situation-Based Learning. Kata kunci:  Situasi matematis, Masalah matematis, Creative problem solving matematis, dan Situation-Based Learning

Abstract

Possessing ICT skills for learning was a necessity for primary schools teachers in accordance with the requirements of current development and Education 4.0. This multi-year research had entered its third year in which it sought to discover information about the types of ICT training materials that were appropriate for the needs of teachers in primary schools and development of effectiveness of an ICT training curriculum structure. This research employed a descriptive survey design. The sample included 30 teachers in primary schools from 12 regions with different school characters in Sumedang Regency, West Java. The findings of this research showed an overview of a gap between teachers who had capabilities in utilizing ICT and teachers who needed to develop their capabilities in utilizing ICT through a practice. In attempting to mediate this gap, this research designed an ICT training curriculum structure that was appropriate for the needs of teachers in primary schools.

Abstract

Learning history in schools has always been based on the process of knowledge transfer, including memorizing textbooks. That kind of method has reduced essence historical thinking, especially in the ability to historical comprehension. For the process to successfully reconstruct knowledge, one way that can be done is to use the history book of local wisdom in ancient manuscripts. The Tanjung Tanah manuscript is one of the ancient documents which contains the value of local wisdom, such as the value of responsibility, respect, and honesty. Through history learning based on local wisdom of the Tanjung Tanah manuscript, it is expected that students will be able to comprehend historical comprehension more quickly. This study uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental design. The population is students at grade ten of senior high school in Kerinci Regency, while the sample is students at degree ten of SMA Negeri 2 Kerinci. The results of the study show that learning the history of local wisdom of Tanjung Tanah manuscripts improves the students’ historical comprehension ability.Pembelajaran sejarah di sekolah selama ini masih bertumpu pada proses transfer of knowledge berupa menghafal isi buku teks. Cara tersebut telah mereduksi esensi keterampilan berpikir sejarah, terutama pada kemampuan pemahaman sejarah. Agar terjadi proses reconstruct of knowledge maka salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan adalah menghadirkan pembelajaran sejarah berbasis kearifan lokal dalam naskah-naskah kuno. Naskah Tanjung Tanah merupakan salah satu naskah kuno yang sarat nilai kearifan lokal, seperti nilai tanggung jawab, sikap hormat, dan kejujuran. Melalui pembelajaran sejarah berbasis kearifan lokal Naskah Tanjung Tanah diharapkan akan terjadi peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman sejarah pada siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif kuasi eksperimen, populasi adalah siswa SMA kelas X di Kabupaten Kerinci, sampel siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 2 Kerinci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pembelajaran sejarah berbasis kearifan lokal Naskah Tanjung Tanah efektif meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman sejarah siswa.

Abstract

This research aims at illustrating the implementation of Professional Learning Community (PLC) programs, which later will be used to be the basic data for the preparation of PLC program design that is applicable and easily implemented by the teachers. The low contribution and discontinuity of teachers in the PLC programs in primary schools have impacted on the lack of optimization of the PLC programs as a support for sustained improvement of teacher professionalism. This research employed a descriptive research design with a survey approach involving 52 primary school teachers in Sumerdang Regency. The research results revealed that even though the teachers’ understanding of the PLC program objectives was very high, the teachers’ understanding of the PLC program mechanism was still low. Thus, this resulted in the low level of the implementation of the PLC program in primary schools, both in programs and regulations. Therefore, further research is expected to produce the operational, structured, and applicable PLC programs in order to increase the teachers’ participation in implementing the PLC programs for improving teacher professionalism, and having a real impact on the improvement of the quality of learning in primary schools.

Abstract

This research aims at measuring the improvement of the students’ CPS ability through the SBL model implementation through thematic learning. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent control group design involving all fourth grade students in public primary schools in Sumedang Regency. Meanwhile, the sample used in the research was one of public primary schools in North of Sumedang Regency by determining that 30 students of class IV-A included in the experimental class, and 32 students of class IV-B included in the control class. Based on the test instrument of CPS ability, the research results revealed that the SBL model implementation was able to improve significantly the CPS ability in thematic learning in the experimental class.

Abstract

The underlying problem of this research is the lack of ability of elementary school students in interpreting mathematical problems concerning addition and subtraction of integers into certain images or symbols. Realistic Mathematics Education approach presents the stage to improve the ability of mathematical representation. The method used is quasi-experiment with non-equivalent control group. The samples grade IV of SDN Gudangkopi 1 as experimental class and SDN Palasari as control class. The instruments used in this research are question mathematical representation ability test, learning motivation attitude scale, teacher performance observation and student activity sheet, teacher and student interview sheet. The finding reveals that Realistic Mathematics Education approach shows improvement on the ability of mathematical representation with average value showing moderate gain, is then considered a better learning compared to the conventional one, and shows a positive relationship between students' mathematical representation ability and learning motivation.

Abstract

This research is held because of the students’low ability in mathematical problem-solving ability and motivation study for elementary school. The purposes of this study was to find out the ability of the matematical problem solving and the students learning motivation in elementary school. One of the alternative learning in giving positive influence to problem solving ability and student learning motivation was using investigative approach. This research was a quasi experimental that used non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study was the fourth grade of elementary school located in the Harjamukti Cirebon. The sample in this research was the fourth grade students of SDN Larangan 2 as the experimental class and SDN Galunggung as the control class. For the Instruments, the writer gave problem-solving test, student learning motivation questionnaire, teacher performance observation guideline, student activity observation guidance and student response card. The results of the research in using various statistical tests indicated that the investigation approach had a positive effect on the ability of mathematical problem solving and student learning motivation. The investigative approach had better positive effect than the conventional approach to mathematical problem solving and student learning motivation. There was a positive response in learning that used an investigative approach as well.

Abstract

This research is held base on a thought that mathematical representation ability and self confidente can be improved by a good learning. There is one learning methode that suitable for mathematical representation ability and self confident improvement is RME approach.  This research is quasi experiment research that used nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this research is 5th grade student at SDN Cimalaka 1 as the experiment class and SDN Palasah as the control class. Instrument that used in this research is test for the result of learning, behavior scale, guidelines of teacher performance observation, and guidelines of student activity observation . This research has result with signification rate = 0,05 (5%) show that RME approach can improve mathematical representation ability and self confident. RME approach is better significantly then conventional approach  for  improving  mathematical representation ability and self confident of the students. There is positif relation between mathematical representation ability and self confident.

Abstract

A knowledge is the result from students' self-construction idea, which makes more meaning full of learning process. Sometimes, teachers forget to elicit students’ life experience as their prior knowledge. If this prior knowledge exposed, student will be easily received the new idea, because the students indirectly build their own knowledge. The constructivism point of learning is a teaching and learning process in such a way will make students are mentally active in construct their own knowledge, based on their cognitive structure. It must be considered how the children forming their concept in cognitive structure as the acquisition in geometry concepts. Knowing of the geometry formulas is not a guarantee that the student has thoroughly been learning about the geometry concept. On the other hand, the formula of rectangles’ area is not come instantly, but it can be reformulated by the construction of students’ prior knowledge. I brought them in a specific activity that makes them enjoy and vigorously; students are directed to find a rectangles’ formula.Keywords: constructivism, build knowledge, discovery, and rectangular formula.
