Abstract

Desain penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tulisan deskriptif siswa dengan analisis genre di kelas X-D MAN 2 Semarang tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Instrument penelitian adalah tulisan deskriptif text siswa. Peneliti menganalisis lembar kerja siswa dengan mengidentifikasi generic structure dan language features dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan 75% dari persentase total siswa dapat menulis bagian identifikasi dengan benar dan 100% siswa dapat menerapkan bagian deskripsi dalam penulisan teks deskriptif. Pada hasil analisis languagefeatures menunjukkan bahwa 100% dari total persentase siswa dapat mengaplikasikan penggunaan specific participant, simple present tense, dan kata sifat. Sedangkan 97% siswa dapat menerapkan penggunaan being verb dan noun phrase dengan sukses. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa analisis genre pada kelas XD MAN 2 Semarang tahun ajaran 2014/2015 memperoleh hasil yang memuaskan. Kata Kunci: analisis genre, teks deskriptif, siswa

Abstract

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan dua implikasi yang ditemukan dalam slogan iklan majalah Time. Adapun permasalahan penelitian ini adalah implikasi apa saja yang terdapat pada iklan di majalah Time dan bagaimana implikasi khusus dan umum yang digunakan dalam iklan di majalah tersebut. Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan data kuantitatif dan kualitatif yang difokuskanpada fungsi ekspresi kebahasaan dan membahas isi yang ditemukan dalam iklan pada majalah Time. Analisis data menggunakan klasifikasi Grice dengan hasil penelitian yakni ada sebanyak 26 slogan iklan yang termasuk dalam implikasi umum dan 34 slogan iklan yang termasuk dalam implikasi khusus. Dari jumlah data yang ditemukan, ada perbedaan persentase sebanyak 56.67% untuk hasil implikasi khusus dan 43.33% untuk hasil implikasi umum. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa majalah Times menggunakan slogan iklan sebanyak 56.67% bermakna implikasi khusus. Penelitian ini diharapkan menambah informasi kepada peneliti maupun mahasiswa bahasa Inggris untuk menambah pengetahuan tentang prakmatik sehingga dapat menyusun penelitian lanjutan. Abstract

Studi ini dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan motivasi mahasiswa yang mengambil Program Sarjana Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Selanjutnya, sebuah penelitian mendalam dilakukan untuk menemukan apakah lesson study yang dilakukan secara kolaboratif dapat diterapkan di kelas dengan baik dan memberikan dampak terhadap motivasi siswa untuk bergabung di dalam perkuliahan yang diberikan oleh para dosen di kelas. Untuk tujuan-tujuan tersebut, mata kuliah Language Testing Administration (LTA) yang diikuti oleh 30 mahasiswa pada tahun akademik 2014/2015. Terdapat 2 siklus yang dilakukan oleh tiap-tiap program melalui research lesson; plan, do, dan see. Untuk mengamati minat para mahasiswa yang bergabung di dalam kelas, 4 pengamat mengamati dan menulis aktivitas-aktivitas para smahaiswa selama proses belajar-mengajar yang diajarkan oleh dosen di dalam kelas. Untuk menstimulasi keaktifan para mahasiswa di kelas, Circle the Sage dipilih oleh dosen dengan tujuan untuk membangun kreativitas mereka di dalam mempelajari materi. Temuan dari para mengamat disampaikan kepada dosen yang sedang mengajar di dalam kelas dengan tujuan untuk direfleksikan dan dicarikan solusi atas permasalahan-permasalahan yang ditemukan secara kolaboratif. Data diambil melalui observasi, kuesioner, dan rekaman video dan kemudian dianalisi s secara descriptif untuk menyimpulkan hasil dari penelitian tersebut.

Abstract

Melalui pendidikan bahasa Inggris diharapkan mahasiswa mampu berbahasa Inggris secara lisanmaupun tulis sebagai life skill sesuai dengan tingkat perkembangan literacy mereka. Untukmeningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa mahasiswa SI Ilmu Keperawatan UNIMUS dalam hal menulisteks report, penulis mencoba menerapkan strategi semantic mapping pada tahap joint construction oftext. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini yaitu melalui penerapan strategi semantic mappingketerampilan menulis teks report mahasiswa berdasarkan hasil tes kognitifnya dapat meningkatmenjadi 76,33 yang melebihi standar keberhasilan kinerja yang ditetapkan yaitu 70. selain ituberdasarkan hasil observasi, angket dan wawancara menunjukkan adanya peningkatakan keaktifandan ketertarikan mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran menulis teks report menggunakan strategisemantic mapping

Abstract

The quality of English speaking for  tour guides in Lawang Sewu need to improve in line with the globalization of tourism in Central Java that is being launched to bring a lot of tourists from within the country and abroad are known by the slogan “Visit Jateng 2013”. In accordance with this statement, we did “Pengabdian Masyarakat” dedicated servant of the community for group of guides of Lawang Sewu . the group was divided into two associations and community i.e. paguyuban siang and paguyuban sore. So far, the problems faced by your group Lawang Sewu is how to improve their English language skills with practical, efficient, and does not complicate the psychological learning and motivate them to be ready to serve foreign tourists.  The priority issues of partners (mitra)are how to improve English language skills of Lawang Sewu guides of Semarang, the absence of a practical and efficient guide to practice speaking and storytelling in English for your group Lawang Sewu Semarang, and the realization of the increase in the English language in guide of Lawang Sewu Semarang with appropriatemethods and interesting.  Targets and outcomes of science and technology activities (IPTEKS) for the community of quide in Lawang Sewu Semarang namely; increasing mastery of the English language for guide in Lawang Semarang with Drill method and Repetition, certificates for the guide, English guide to savings, increased motivation and psychological cont ol if travelers face bothdomestically and abroad so as to become a professional guide, and CD of English instruction to guide the improvement of the English language.  The solution offered in our devotion is to increase English skills of guides in Lawang Sewu Semarang, producing methods, materials, methods, and guidelines that are effective, and realize an increasing in their English skills. Therefore, Lawang Sewu is expected to become a symbol of quality foreign tourism by having a guide that is fluent in English.

Abstract

This research is based on the lack of students’capability in composing sentences to be meaningful text. This condition can be seen from the students’writing score which is relative low and their writings are lack of coherence and cohesion. Based on this problem, the reseacher creates interesting innovation for the teaching learning process by using demonstration and discussion method.  The objective of the research is how to compare between demonstration and discussion to improve students’writing skill statistically. It uses demonstration and discussion inwhich students’writing were compared significantly using t-test formula for analyzing the data.The result shows that there is a significant difference between making use of demonstration and discussion. The students’score of writing taught by discussion are better than those taught using demonstration method. It is also supported by students’questionaire. Finally, the researcher encourages lecturers not only to use interactive media, method, or technique but also support students’ to learn how to write well writing.

Abstract

The third semester students have difficulty in composing words into sentences, from sentences into paragraphs to form an interesting, coherent, and cohesive composition. In line with the complex constraints above, it is necessary to do a reflection and an alternative action to the method combined with an interesting learning model. Changes and reflections were made through the development of learning tools for paragraph-based writing courses using circle the sage method based on critical thinking as a stimulus to enable students to be more active and creative in designing coherent and cohesive English writing. The main purpose of this research is to produce instructional device of paragraph based writing course using circle the sage based on criticalthinking. Research method used by researcher is method research and development (research and development). Procedure of development in this research use 4-D model that is define (definition), design (design), develop (development) and disseminate (spread). Data collection techniques used the results of the questionnaire before and after the treatment of learning, a questionnaire fromthe learning device validator. Data analysis using qualitative descriptive that determine the success of development of instructional tool of course paragraph based writing using circle the sage based on critical thinking. The results of this study concluded that there is an increase in learning to write paragraphs with the method of circle the sage based on critical thinking so that the development of learning tools to write paragraphs applicative. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the student’s responses in writing action research proposals. The method  of this research is the descriptive quantitative.  The subject of this study was UT Semarang students 2018.1 in Pokjar Kaliwungu Kendal who took Action Research courses. The data collection technique used questionnaires by giving a set of questions or written statements to respondents to answer them. The results of the student’ s responses analysis before and after the Colaborative Writing model application showed that there was an increase in the average student’ s activeness because they were more enthusiastic in writing Classroom Action Research proposals by collaborating in writing with groups according to the developed teaching materials. Their tendency to more easily determine the topic of research using the Collaborative Writing model.Keywords: analyzing, writing research, collaborative writing, student’s responses

Abstract

The fair level of teacher UKG results indicates the need for exploration of the content knowledge of pre-service teachers. The purpose of this study focuses onthe exploration of content knowledge of chemistry students on the material of theperiodic elements system to prepare professional teachers. The research usedwas pre-experimental design using one-shot case study design. Data collectiontechniques in this study are test techniques, observation techniques, and openinterviews. The data collection instruments in this research is a sheet of periodicelement system at high school level to test readiness of pre-service teachers inconducting internship practice at partner schools. This test is part of the threeindicators of Content Knowledge: Knowledge of disciplinary content, knowledgethat alternative frameworks for thinking about the content exist and knowledge ofthe relationship between big ideas and supporting ideas in a content area. Theresults showed that the average content of teacher candidate knowledge on thematerial of the periodic element system is 51. Keywords: content knowledge, UKG, Sistem periodik unsur.
