Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' science process skills on specific heat material by reviewing two aspects of basic science process skills indicators (observation and classification), and two indicators of integrated science process skills (identifying variables and making hypotheses). This research uses a descriptive quantitative method. In this study, the sample used was 35 students of physics education of batch 2018 who were randomly selected. The assessment instrument used was the science process skills observation sheet with the skill score used in the form of a Likert scale. The results of the study show that the students' mastery of basic science process skills on the observation indicator is 65% in the good category, 30% in the high category, and 10% in the category of not good to low, whereas, the classification indicators obtained are 54.3% and 37.1% of students have mastered classification skills in both good and high categories. The remaining 8.6% are classified in the not good category. For the mastery of integrated science process skills in the variable identification indicator, 60% of them are in the good category and 14.3% in the high category. The rest are in the category of not good and low. For the indicators of skills in making hypotheses, 65.7% and 14.3% are in the good and high categories. It proves that physics education students have mastery of science process skills that are in the good category.

Abstract

Good science process skills demonstrated by the attitude of students in conducting experiments in the laboratory. This study aims to determine the mastery of science process skills of students of Physics Education in Universitas Jambi, both students who use the printed Guidebook and students who use the e-module as guide in practicum activities by reviewing eight aspects of integrated science process skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with experimental research methods, namely true experimental. In the study sample used was a student of Physics Education were divided into two groups, 35 students for experiment class and 30 students for control class. Assessment instruments used were observation sheet science process skills with a score of skills used in the form of Likert scale. Based on the analysis score mastery of integrated science process skills of students in the experimental class, operationally defining variables have the highest percentage of 51.4% to the category of very good, whereas in the control class, analyzing aspects of investigations has the highest percentage of 53.3% with a good category. Keywords: college, integrated science process skills, practicum, reflection on a flat mirror

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of students towards the use of ICT-based convex mirror material guidebooks. The population of this study was the students of the Jambi University physics education class program in 2018. The sampling technique used total sampling, so that the sample of this study was all physical education students at the University of Jambi with 105 students in class 2018 Indicators of observed process skills included the identification of variables, making tables data, Make a graph, Explain the relationship between variables, Obtain and process data, Analyze investigations, Make hypotheses, Identify variables by ovational, design experiments, and conduct experiments. Process skill data is measured through a basic physics practicum performance evaluation sheet, when practitioners conduct convex mirror practicum activities. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The analysis shows that the average Science Process Skills are categorized as good and very good, this shows that students have mastered the integrated Science Process Skills. The results of this study are expected to be a consideration for physics study programs to conduct related studies for other practicum subjects.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the description of student attitudes and learning environments towards physics and the relationship of student attitudes and learning environments towards physics at SMAN 6 Batang Hari. This type of research is quantitative using a correlational design with the instrument used is a questionnaire. The subjects of this study were 156 students from SMAN 6 Batang Hari. Quantitative data analysis techniques use descriptive and inferential statistics. The description for attitude is categorized as sufficient. While for the learning environment that is categorized good. The relationship between students' attitudes and learning environment towards physics is in the strong category with a pearson correlation of 0.719. Based on the results of SMAN 6 Batang Hari, the relationship between students' attitudes and the learning environment is strong for learning physics. Thus, positive student attitudes will be formed through a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate at students' perceptions on basic physics practicum guides on mobile learning. This research was a descriptive study involving 117 students with 59 physics education students and 58 chemistry ones. The instruments were questionnaires and semi-structured interviews intended to strengthen the quantitative data. The data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaire to the physics and chemistry education students who have conducted physics practicum using a mobile-based guide. Then interview was conducted only to those willing to be interviewed. The data were analyzed with  descriptive statistics to determine students' perceptions on mobile-based practicum guides.. The results showed that the practical learning guide based on mobile learning is feasible to use with the results of the perception of physics education included in both categories with a frequency of 38 (64.4%) and for chemical education perceptions also in the good category with a frequency of 28 (48.3%). The data were supported by interview results showing that students are more interested and enthusiastic in conducting practical work because they used mobile-based guides.
