Abstract

Character education plays a critical role in all aspects of life and thus, it has been widely-adopted in schools. An indication of its success can be reflected in the student learning achievement. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect size of the relationship between character education values and mathematics learning achievement, with a meta-analysis study. In this research, character education value is the independent variable while mathematics learning achievement is the dependent one. The data were obtained from the results of online database search at Google Scholar from 2012-2019. Based on the search, 16 research publications met the criteria determined based on rigorous screening. The data were analyzed using a quantitative meta-analysis approach, specifically correlation meta-analysis. The results show that there was a significant relationship between character education values and students’ mathematics learning achievement. The effect size value was in the moderate effect category. The findings are in line with those of previous studies investigating this relationship and thus, strengthen the theory about the factors that influence mathematics learning achievement. In addition, these findings suggest five-character education values that teachers can provide to improve students’ mathematics learning achievement.

Abstract

Shape is a part of Geometry which is a branch of Mathematics consisting of triangles, squares, and polygon. Its application is often used in everyday. However, even though the concept is often encountered and used, there are still many students who experience difficulties in their understanding. Abstract

Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana permainan lego math dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada materi operasi perkalian bilangan bulat pada siswa kelas III B SDN Pengawu Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019. Rancangan penelitian ini mengacu pada model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang terdiri dari empat komponen, yaitu 1) perencanaan, 2) pelaksanaan tindakan, 3) observasi, dan 4) refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah, pemberian tes, wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes berbentuk uraian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu: (1) reduksi data, (2) penyajian data, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas III B SDN Pengawu mengalami peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis pada materi operasi perkalian bilangan bulat, dengan peningkatan masing-masing sebesar 10,5% dan 14,75%. Metode ini juga meningkatkan ketuntasan belajar klasikal dan daya serap klasikal masing-masing sebesar 23,8% dan 9,4%. Adapun langkah-langkah permainan Lego Math dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan pemecahan masalah matematis, yaitu: (1) meninjau permainan Lego Math, (2) menjelaskan prosedur dan aturan permainan, (3) mengatur siswa secara berkelompok, (4) memberikan kartu soal dan Lego, serta (5) memulai permainan.

Abstract

Segiempat ialah bangun datar yang memiliki empat sisi. Meskipun kelihatan sederhana dan penggunaannya sering kita jumpai dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, namun materi bangun segiempat masih tergolong cukup rumit bagi peserta didik. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut diberikan solusi berupa metode “satu gambar, seribu kata”. “Satu Gambar, Seribu Kata” ialah metode yang dibuat dalam bentuk visualisasi yang mengubah konsep abstrak menjadi gambar nyata. Adapun langkah-langkahnya yaitu: (1) Mengidentifikasi topik atau konsep matematika yang diinginkan. (2) Memodelkan cara yang mungkin, dimana konsep matematika dapat diinterpretasikan dan digambarkan secara visual. (3) Mengingatkan peserta didik bahwa gambar visual yang bermakna lebih penting daripada kemampuan artistiknya. (4) Meminta peserta didik menyampaikan dan menjelaskan hasil karya mereka baik

Abstract

Fractions are a subset of a set of real numbers. Although the form is simple and often used in everyday, but the material about fractions especially in the addition of fraction numbers is still complicated for students. To overcome this problem, a solution is given in the form of the method of " Mathematical Mental Wars ". Mathematical Mental Wars is the presentation of a fast, interesting, and interactive way for students to practice problems with variables, equations, and answers. The steps of the method of " Mental Wars Mathematics ", namely: (1) reviewing game cards, (2) reviewing traditional war card games and explaining the rules and procedures, (3) grouping students in pairs, (4) providing each pair with The set of fractional cards to be shared equally, (5) reminds students not to open cards until the game starts and (6) starts the game.

Abstract

The fraction count operation is one of the problems often faced by students on the topic of fraction numbers. Even though the material is important and is often applied, there are still many students who make mistakes. The errors most often experienced by students are procedural errors. To solve this problem, a solution is given to the application of the "mathematical recipe" method. In this mathematical recipe method, students are given a clear and attractive format to organize important thoughts and information. As for the steps in using mathematical recipes, namely: (1) choosing the right mathematical procedure, (2) giving an example of how to use math recipe cards, (3) giving math recipe cards that are empty or half filled, and (4) ensuring participants students save math recipe cards for reference at a later date.

Abstract

This research was made based on the internal and external factors which influenced the students’ learning outcomes. The study aimed at examining the profile and the influence of socio-emotion and moral development toward Mathematics learning outcomes of grade XI students of public senior high schools (SMAN) in Palu. This study was an ex-post facto causality study. The subject of the research was XI grade students of SMAN in Palu of academic year 2012/2013, selected by employing proportional stratified rendom sampling. The instruments of the study were scale method and test of Mathematics learning outcomes. Data were then analyzed through descriptive statistics and path analysis. The result revealed that (1) from 360 of grade XI students of SMAN in Palu have: self-concept with fair category, self-esteem with high category, moral development with high category, cognitive learning outcomes with low category, and affective learning outcomes (attitude towards Mathematics) with high category; (2) there was positive and significant correlation between self-concept and self-esteem; (3) there was positive and significant correlation between cognitive learning outcomes and affective learning outcomes; (4) self-concept gave influence directly to cognitive learning outcomes and gave indirect effect to moral development and affective learning outcomes; (5) self-esteem gave no direct effect to cognitive learning outcomes, but gave indirect effect to selfconcept, moral development, and affective learning outcomes; (6) self-concept gave influence directly to affective learning outcomes and gave indirect effect to moral development and cognitive learning outcomes; (7) self-esteem gave no direct effect to affective learning outcomes, but gave indirect effect to selfconcept, moral development, and cognitive learning outcomes. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal pada materi operasi hitung pecahan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif eksploratif dengan pendekatan campuran (mixed methods). Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN Pengawu dengan jumlah subjek penelitian sebesar 35 siswa. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan siswa yaitu Process Skills Errors sebesar 40,25%. Selanjutnya diikuti oleh Tranformasion Errors sebesar 26,97%, Comprehension Errors sebesar 19,09%, Encoding Errors sebesar 5,39%, dan Reading Errors sebesar 4,56%, serta Careless dilakukan sebesar 3,73%. untuk operasi penjumlahan pecahan, kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan adalah Process Skills Errors sebesar 49,23%. Untuk operasi pengurangan pecahan, kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan adalah Tranformation Errors sebesar 52,31%. Operasi perkalian pecahan, kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan adalah Tranformation Errors sebesar 27,69%. Dan untuk operasi pembagian pecahan, kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan adalah Process Skills Errors sebesar 40,00%. Kata kunci :  analisis kesalahan, Newman, operasi hitung pecahanThis study aims to describe and analyze students' errors in solving problems in fractional counting operations. The type of research used is explorative descriptive research with mixed methods. The population of this study was the fifth grade students of Pengawu Elementary School with the number of research subjects amounting to 35 students. The results showed that the most mistakes made by students were Process Skills Errors of 40.25%. Then followed by Tranformasion Errors by 26.97%, Comprehension Errors by 19.09%, Encoding Errors by 5.39%, and Reading Errors by 4.56%, and Careless by 3.73%. for fractional addition operations, the most common error was Process Skills Errors of 49.23%. For fractional reduction operations, the most common error is Tranformation Errors of 52.31%. Fractional multiplication operations, the most common error is Tranformation Errors of 27.69%. And for fraction sharing operations, the most common mistake is Process Skills Errors of 40.00%. Keywords:  analysis of errors, Newman, fractional counting operations.

Abstract

To solve this problem, a solution is given in the form of the game method "Uno Mathematics". "Uno Mathematics" is an effective, interesting, and interactive way to present students to build and strengthen mastery and understanding of mathematical concepts in the long term. The steps for the game method "Uno Mathematics", namely: (1) reviewing the number of game cards as much as 48 pieces, (2) explaining the "Uno Math" game procedure and the rules of lowering the cards, (3) grouping students in groups, (4 ) give a set of “Uno Mathematics” cards to each group, (5) remind students, and (6) start the game.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan metode permainan “Ular Tangga Matematika” modifikasi pada materi bilangan pecahan. Bilangan pecahan adalah bagian dari cabang ilmu Teori Bilangan yang sering menjadi masalah bagi peserta didik. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, maka diberikan salah satu solusi berupa metode permainan “Ular Tangga Matematika” yang dianggap mampu menyelesaikan masalah bilangan pecahan. Metode Permainan “Ular Tangga Matematika” merupakan bentuk penyajian proses pembelajaran yang efektif, menarik, serta interaktif bagi peserta didik untuk membangun dan menguatkan penguasaan dan pemahaman konsep, prinsip, atau prosedur matematika. Metode ini juga menyenangkan sehingga peserta didik tertarik dan dapat memfokuskan energi pada pembelajaran dan akan meninggalkan kesan yang senantiasa diingat dalam jangka waktu yang relatif lama. Adapun langkah-langkah permainan “Ular Tangga matematika”, yaitu: (1) meninjau kembali pertanyaan pada tumpukan kartu permainan “Ular Tangga Matematika, (2) menjelaskan tentang prosedur dan aturan permainan pada “Ular Tangga Matematika”, (3) mengelompokkan peserta didik, (4) memulai permainan. Berdasarkan kajian teori yang telah dijabarkan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Permainan “Ular Tangga Matematika” dapat digunakan pada materi bilangan pecahan.
