Abstract

Green Open Space and parks are a balance system between nature and humans in the built area. The concept of green space and parks is a balancing of decreasing open space, and increasing the area built. To improve the balance of the environment and built area, green space in the built area, especially settlements, needs to be restored in order for the two systems to play an optimal role. Parks and green space is a response to the needs of the landscape in a residential area and urban areas. The need for green space and parks is ideally an integrated ecological, social, and economic aspects of the urban area. Community participation proposal aims to show the role of community participation in the utilization of the needs of parks and green space in a residential area for ecological, economic and social sustainability in the future. The proposed community service involves community participation in the management of green space and parks as open space in a residential area in Bukit Tunggal Village, Jekan Raya District, Palangka Raya City. The method is a qualitative focus on observing community participation from the preparation, implementation and post-implementation stages of the implementation of the concept of green space and tree planting and garden arrangement in housing of the Bukit Tunggal village in an integrated manner according to the needs of open space for community activities and environmental preservation.

Abstract

Kahayan’s watershed have a potential area of green space as the first steplarge enough to maintain the sustainability of green space. This watershed is animportant part to absorb global warming and structuring integrated area Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan province. The presence of green space will be needed in an integrated region planning Palangkaraya to compensate for the density of buildings. Various forms of green space activities in general are as shade from the warm environment, and as receptacles for the city of Palangkaraya community to socialize and interact with nature. Fulfillment of green areas in the city of Palangkaraya is an initial effort to grow awareness of the environment in terms of aligning the media downturn availability of clean air and healthy due to natural degradation in Palangkaraya. The concept of integrated area planning Palangkaraya by relying on the potential of green space Kahayan’s watershed is expected to balance between vegetation and the presence of alignment with the ecological environment constructionof city infrastructure, so that will achieve the purpose of applying the concept ofsustainable development and is also able to overcome the problem of global warming are felt at this time.Keywords: Potential, Kahayan’s watershed, Integrated Area Green Space,Palangkaraya

Abstract

ABSTRACTOne of important place in historic city of Palangka Raya is a big public openspace along the corridor of Yos Sudarso Street where various activities found here.Besides sport and social activities conducted in this place, many street vendors alsoarrised as well as green open space utilization. This paper is conducted to find out thepotentiality of Yos Sudarso corridor to be optimilized as public open space andimportant landscape in Palangka Raya by applying a concept approach research. Theconcept of public open space and landscape possible to come out by implementing aplanning concept of open space and re-arrange informal sector location andcompleting infrastructures such as garbage management , lighting system, and streetvendor stall design . Abstract

ABSTRACT The sterilization chamber is designed to sterilize the body using a filler formulation that is not harmful to the skin surface. Formulation, namely the composition of filler fluids (type, dose and amount) using substances that are safe for the body accordingly, certainly provides benefits. The use of the sterilization booth uses the correct and safe filling fluid. The sterilization chamber uses a mist nozzle sprayer (with the appropriate discharge) to spray the filling liquid so that the user is safe. This sterilization booth is named "White Box". This "White Box" research aims to design (functional and structural) and test (function test and performance test) on a system and mechanism for condensing the condensation of a humidifier that can fill the sterilization room optimally. The design method of the "White Box" sterilization booth uses a qualitative method with the following phases: (1) The preparation stage, namely the functional design and the structural design of the "White Box"; (2) The implementation stage is analyzing the use of tools and materials and making sterilization booths; (3) Post-implementation stage, namely testing the sterilization chamber, including the function test and performance test of the sterilization chamber. The design activity of the "White Box" sterilization booth was carried out by testing various variations of the prototype, including variations in the dimensions of the distribution pipe, the shape of the distribution pipe, and variations of the piping system. The validation process includes: (1) The diameter of the pipe against humidifier dew bursts; (2) The shape of the piping against humidifier dew spray; and (3) the length of the pipe passage to the humidifier dew spray. ABSTRAKBilik sterilisasi didesain untuk mensterilisasi tubuh dengan menggunakan formulasi zat pengisi yang tidak berbahaya bagi permukaan kulit. Formulasi yaitu komposisi cairan pengisi (jenis, takaran dan jumlah) menggunakan zat yang aman bagi tubuh yang sesuai, tentu memberi manfaat. Penggunaan bilik sterilisasi menggunakan cairan pengisi yang benar dan aman. Bilik sterilisasi menggunakan mist nozzle sprayer (yang debitnya sesuai) untuk menyemprotkan cairan pengisinya sehingga pengguna aman. Bilik sterilisasi ini diberi nama "White Box". Penelitian "White Box"ini bertujuan merancang (fungsional dan struktural) dan menguji coba (uji fungsi dan uji kinerja) pada sebuah sistem dan mekanisme penyaluran pengembunan dari alat humidifier yang mampu memenuhi ruang bilik sterilisasi secara optimal. Metode rancang bangun bilik sterilisasi "White Box" menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan tahap kegiatan meliputi: (1) Tahap persiapan yaitu rancangan fungsional dan rancangan struktural"White Box"; (2) Tahap pelaksanaan yaitu analisa penggunaan alat dan bahan dan Pembuatan bilik sterilisasi; (3) Tahap Pasca Pelaksanaan yaitu pengujian bilik sterilisasi antara lain uji fungsi dan uji kinerja bilik sterilisasi. Muatan kegiatan rancang bangun bilik sterilisasi "White Box" dilakukan dengan cara menguji coba berbagai variasi prototipe, meliputi variasi dimensi pipa penyaluran, bentuk pipa penyalur, variasi sistem perpipaan. Proses validasi yang dilakukan meliputi: (1) Diamater pipa terhadap semburan embun humidifier; (2) Bentuk pipa penyalur terhadap semburan embun humidifier; dan (3) Panjang lintasan pipa terhadap semburan embun humidifier.

Abstract

The waste of wood processing industry such as the plywood, sawmill and woodworkingindustries give waste as form of end pieces, slash, peeling residue, scrap and sawdust.The wood waste is not utilized by the furniture industry. The solution of this problem isto process these wood waste into activated charcoal. Activated charcoal can be madefrom any material containing carbon, both organic and inorganic, provided that thematerial is porous.The first,the waste wood of Ulin, Benuas, and Agathis used asmaterials in this study were carbonized and then made into activated charcoal. Thequality test of activated charcoal were yield, moisture content, ash, volatile matter, fixedcarbon, absorption of benzene, absorption of iodine and absorption of methylene blue.Overall, not all research treatments on the quality of activated charcoal fulfill to SNI 06-3730-1995. The quality of Agathis wood activated charcoal has the best quality (520,83mg/g) from all treatments by the highest score of iodine absorption (Kimia Farma (KF)standard requires >426.5 mg/g). Based on the standar of drinking water quality No.416/Menkes/Per/IX/1990, activated charcoal of agathis wood can improve the quality ofbore well water except for turbidity.Keywords: Activated charcoal, ulin, benuas, agathis, bore well water

Abstract

Wood industry waste in Indonesia is very abundant, the percentage based on yield produced can reach 50% for sawdust, 70% for plywood industry waste, and 70% of forest harvesting waste. Wood pellets can be an alternative energy source and the availability of raw materials is very easy to find. Wood pellets are the main concern at this time because of the ease of use in raw materials and have environmentally friendly characteristics. The aims of this research was to investigate the characteristic of wood pellets from three types sawdust of wood waste from furniture industry on Palangkaraya city and compare the propreties of wood pellet with Indonesian National Standard (SNI 8021: 2018). This study used material from the sawdust waste of benuas (Shorea laevis Ridl), melur (Dacrydium spp), and jelutung rawa (Dyera polyphylla). Particles from those materials were made on 40-60 mesh, and to reduce the of extractive substances, the particles were extracted in hot water at 100°C for 3 hour. Pellets are made using single-pelletizer at room temperature with a pressure of 30 MPa for 4 hour. The target density of wood pellet was 1 g/cm³ with a diameter was 0.9 cm and length weas 4.5 cm. The results showed that the quality of Benuas, Melur and Jelutung Rawa wood pellets based on SNI 8021: 2018 wood pellet quality standards showed that the testing of wood pellets in general met the Indonesian National Standards except density. Based on the characteristics of the three types of sawdust waste studied based on specific gravity that the type of wood pulp with medium density as raw material for wood pellets that have the best quality because it has a lower water content of 3.72%, higher density 0.75 g / cm3, lower ash content 0.6%.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of particle sizes (10 mesh, 20 mesh, and 30 mesh) on the physical and mechanical properties of particleboards made from industry waste of PT. Aldi Mandomai Furniture, based on JIS A 5903: 2003 Standard. .  Particleboards size were 30 x30x1,5 cm, density 0,5 g/cm3. Moisture content particles at 5%, particles glued with urea-formaldehyde adhesives, weight 10%, hot press pressured with temperature  110 ± 20C for 15 minutes, pressure 25 kg/ cm2. Furthermore, particleboards must be conditioned for ± 14 days/ 2 weeks. Particleboards were cut into sample test according to the size in the JIS A 5903:2003 standard. Research design used Completely Random Design with one factor. Data analyzed using analysis of variance, if  data was significant must  to do  areal difference test. The observed to particle size with 3 levels are 10 mesh, 20 mesh, and 30 mesh.  The results of physical properties were Density ( a.v. 0,46 – 0,49 g/cm³), Moisture Content (a.v. 12,22 – 14,05%),  Water Absorption (a.v  129,79 – 167,03%), and Thickness Swelling (a.v 11,43 – 22,08%).  The results of mechanical properties were internal bonding (0,0075 - 0,0204 N/mm2), Modulus of Elasticity (a.v. 5,91 – 25,32 N/mm2), Modulus of Rupture (a.v   0,52 – 1,52 N/mm2 ), and Screw Holding (a.v.  29,42 – 104,60 N).  Particleboards made from furniture industry waste  with particle size 10 mesh was significantly to physical properties, except density and fulfill JIS A 5903:2003,  while the mechanical properties of particleboard are not fulfill the standard.

Abstract

Perencanaan Ruang Terbuka Hijau dilakukan melalui implementasi partisipasi masyarakat. Taman adalah contoh Ruang Terbuka Hijau ide dalam pemanfaatan lahan kosong di lingkungan perumahan dan permukiman. Taman di Ruang Terbuka Hijau bertujuan memfasilitasi masyarakat untuk menanam tanaman budidaya di lahan kosong perumahan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan rumah tangga di perumahan. Taman untuk tanaman budidaya bermanfaat untuk kawasan hijau dan area resapan di perumahan dalam waktu jangka panjang. Taman direncanakan berlokasi di kawasan perumahan Jalan Bandeng II Kelurahan Bukit Tunggal, Kecamatan Jekan, Kota Palangka Raya. Taman merupakan keinginan dan ide masyarakat perumahan Jalan Bandeng II Kelurahan Bukit Tunggal. Bentuk partisipasi aktif perumahan Jalan Bandeng II dibagi atas beberapa tahap antara lain: tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, yaitu pelatihan dan pembuatan taman, dan tahap pasca pelaksanaan, yaitu monitoring dalam pembuatan taman dan evaluasi implementasi penanaman difasilitasi oleh pihak pemerintahan Kelurahan Bukit Tunggal. Taman merupakan contoh sampel dari pengabdian masyarakat untuk penghijauan kawasan perumahan di Kota Palangka Raya. Taman merupakan bagian program kerja Kelurahan Bukit Tunggal, paguyuban bapak-bapak, dan ibu-ibu PKK Kelurahan Bukit Tunggal. Kegiatan pengabdian merupakan salah satu implementasi tridarma Perguruan Tinggi untuk masyakat, khususnya tim pengabdian Fakultas Teknik Universitas Palangka Raya. Metode pengabdian menggunakan data kualitatif berdasarkan observasi, wawancara dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Hasil penelitian adalah terlaksananya implementasi partisipasi masyarakat dalam perencanaan taman di Perumahan Jalan Bandeng II Kelurahan Bukit Tunggal sebagai apresiasi tridarma peguruan tinggi kepada masyarakat dari mendampingi pembuatan konsep taman, pendampingan pelatihan dan pelaksanaan penanaman.

Abstract

Red Meranti was a commercial wood that is widely used as a raw material for the timber industry (plywood and sawmill industry), and generated a lot of waste. Currently, the utilization of red meranti waste has not been utilized optimally. One of the optimizing utilization of that waste was for developing a Particleboard with the citric acid natural binder. The objective of this study was to determine the bonding properties of Sawmill Waste Red Meranti Particleboard bonded with a Citric Acid Natural Adhesive. Citric acid was dissolved in water with the concentration of the solution adjusted to 60 wt%. This adhesive solution was sprayed onto the 40 mesh (coarse) and 40 mesh (fine) particles at 10% and 20% resin content based on the weight of oven-dried particles. Each mixture was then hot pressed at 110°C for 15 min under 50 kg/cm² pressure. Density and dimension targets were 0.7 kg/cm³; 30 × 30 × 1 cm. Each experiment was performed in triplicate, and the average value and standard deviation were calculated. The results showed that the interaction of particle size and adhesive content had a very significant effect on density, internal bonding, and screw-holding strength and had no significant effect on moisture content, thickness swelling, and modulus of rupture (MOR). Based on the SNI 03-2105-2006, the physical properties that meet the standard were moisture content and. Meanwhile, the mechanical properties of sawmill waste red meranti particleboard have not met the SNI 03-2105-2006. Abstract

The problem of plastic waste is still an environmental threat, but efforts to suppress plastic waste continue to be developed until now. Purun straws are a biodegradable product to solve the problem of plastic waste. So, purun straw products can become the concern of an environmentally aware global community. The research aims to describe purun straws as an eco-friendly product. In-depth interviews with key informants revealed that purun danau (Lepironia articulate) was sufficiently available as a raw material, and a semi-finished purun straw product was produced, which was eco-friendly
