The use of facebook as a social network site wins a lot of demands. Moreover, in Indonesia, facebook fever becomes a trend among young people. The phenomenon of facebook use in Indonesia has been widespread in many areas such as in Jember Town. The town is also supported by the existence of educational facilities such as state universities, one of which is the University of Jember. Facebook has become a means of making an impression management in facebook. This research was aimed to identify, describe and analyze the impression management of facebook users conducted by students of UNEJ in accordance with the impression management theory by Erving Goffman. The method used in this research was qualitative with purposive sampling technique. The research results showed that the impression that one wanted to show was in line with certain situation and condition depending on the audience. The impressions that one wanted to show up, among others, were impression of a university student, impression of people in pairs, impression of people who love traveling, impression of beautiful look, impression of confusion, impression of familiarity and impression of people who like sports. The impression management could not be separated from the appearance through clothing, makeup, and items such as purse or laptop, then the manner or style shown through expression described in photographs such smiling, staring eyes. It can be concluded that someone is considered more ideal when he is able to behave and act in accordance with common view as an individual who always interacts in community live, so facebook users always show and manage a good or positive impression in his friendship networks.Keywords: impression management, facebook users, expected roles

The media can influence the public mindset. Similarly, the news of rape informed by detik.com online media can affect the public mindset towards rape. Meanwhile, news conveyed by media is the construction result of reality which also cannot be separated from reportersâ subjectivity. How Detik.com online media represents the rape victims and doers in its reporting will affect the way the community members view the rape victims and perpetrators. This research was aimed to identify the identity construction of rape victims and perpetrators on Detik.com online media. The method used in this research was critical discourse analysis by Norman Fairclough. In the critical discourse analysis of Norman Fairclough, the research was conducted only at the text level covering representation, relation and identity. The research results showed that there were two patterns of rape; that is, those committed by family members and those by non-family members. Media construction on the victims, among others, karaoke girl guide, victim lover, female victims with disability, grandmother raped by younger man, poor girl, facebook friends, vegetable seller, public transportation passenger, housewife, victimâs friend, victims neighbor. Based on all of the identity constructions, the media dominantly still blamed women for causing the rape to occur. AbstractMost of the farmers in Sumbersewu Village of Banyuwangi Regency are Muslim and Hindu. The local people still uphold the Javanese culture that has been passed down by their ancestors. One of them is the methik ritual. The methik ritual ceremony is a process done at the time of harvesting agricultural produce. The procession of methik ritual have several stages such as determining the good day, preparing the offerings, afterwards to the place of execution that can be at the rice field or at home, after that begins with the reading of prayers or mantras performed by elders or shaman and ends with eating together. In the methik ritual, there are three meanings that are generated and to this day are still maintained by the local community, especially the first peasants, as an expression of gratitude to the creator or Sang Hyang Widhi in the belief of Hindus and Allah SWT in the belief of Muslims Have been given good fortune and safety. Second, the protection where the methik ritual in this case is done to ask the salvation to the creator to avoid the calamity associated with farming. Thirdly, as a preservation where in this case the methik ritual is one of the ancestral cultural heritage whose existence must remain in guard and preserved. Local wisdom to the farmers of Sumbersewu Village is a form of reflection of harmony with nature.Keywords: local wisdom, meaning of methik, farmer, and nature.

Abstract The problems faced by farmers in Indonesia still struggling in the weak structure of the network. Where the farmers prefer to depend on kinship relations and chose to run its business outside of the formal organization. The farmers tend to seek own patterns of organizing his business according to their better rational for various reasons. Here, the empowerment and organizing farmers by agents into the formal organizational structure became more important to construct mindset of farmers, so that the farmer can progress towards a better and can sustain development of the national economic. This research used a qualitative method which was located in Gapoktan Guyub Santoso Office and Wisata Edukasi Kampung Coklat in Plosorejo Village, District Kademangan, Blitar. The data were collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The research results showed that: the solidarity and participation of farmers into a farming institution is a key element that supports the success of Gapoktan Guyub Santoso in strengthening the capital and breaking the marketing chain of cocoa beans is too long and much harm to farmers. With the development of agro area through Wisata Edukasi Kampung Coklat also improve the quality and selling value of cocoa farmers and bring the impact of economic improvement of the surrounding community through various business opportunities. This is in accordance with the concept of participation empowerment explained by Craig and Mayo that participatory empowerment is a potential strategy in order to improve economic, social and cultural transformation. Therefore, emphasis should be emphasized on the importance of alternative approaches to development approaches beginning with the local community empowerment process.

Qur?an memorizer or commonly known as Hafidz Qur?an is currently getting quite intense attention from moslem society in Indonesia, especially moslem society in Jember. This positive acceptance can be seen from the development of tahfidz Qur?an program in various educational institutions in Jember and the number of educational scholarship offered to students who memorized Qur?an. This study aims to explain the social construction of the Hafidzah Qur?an in Jember with the use of constructivism method. The theory used is social construction that explains the formation of a society based on the knowledge they have through three simultaneous processes, namely, externalization, objectivation, and internalization. The result of this study is that the social construction of the moslem community in Jember shows positive acceptance of hafidzah Qur?an. It began with an externalizing moment when people found out about hafidz Qur?an through Islamic studies and television programs. Then the community formed the acceptance through the construction of tahfidz institution and the provision of scholarship to hafidz students in objectivation process, and finally it inspires the community to become hafidz and send their children to tahfidz institutions in the process of internalization.  Keywords: Hafidz Qur'an, social construction, externalization, objectivation, internalization

One of the scholarship programs in the University of Jember which annually provide plenty of quotas is a scholarship through Bidikmisi program given to students who came from an economically poor family and good achievement history. As known that ideally, Bidikmisi students must behave, appear and act in accordance with Bidikmisi scholarship?s definition itself in order to prevent misunderstanding in the use of scholarship?s fund. But still, there are several Bidikmisi students in the University of Jember who doesn?t display the ?ideal? definition. From this phenomenon then lead to a question about ?Self-concept of Bidikmisi Students at the University of Jember?. In this study, the researcher uses qualitative descriptive approve, which aims to get information about the self-concept of Bidikmisi students at the University of Jember. The theory used is symbolic interactionism by George Herbert Mead, which the theory explained that someone is seen as an actor which interpret, judge, define, act and explain about the use of symbols as a form of interpretation in someone interaction with another or with a group. The symbols used cold to be in verbal form or nonverbal.  The result of the study shows that there are two kinds of self-concept of Bidikmisi students, namely positive concept and negative concept. Positive self-concept namely (1) make the parents proud (2) get a high achievement and aspirations (3) responsible. On the other hand, negative self-concept is (1) feeling inferior (2) overconfidence.     Keywords: self-concept, Bidikmisi students
