Abstract

Berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara guru untuk kelas VIII SMPN 17 Kota Jambi ditemukan bahwa materi tersulit adalah sistem peredaran darah dan kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas kurang kondusif, sehingga dibutuhkan media pembelajaran yang dapat menarik minat siswa. Penelitan bertujuan mengembangkan media pembelajaran komik digital berbasis karakter hero Indonesia pada materi sistem peredaran darah manusia. Dalam pengembangan media ini dibutuhkan penilaian ahli media dan materi, persepsi guru dan siswa serta pengaruh penggunaan media terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). Instrumen penelitian terdiri atas: 1) daftar wawancara, kuesioner dan lembar observasi untuk analisis kebutuhan, 2) lembar validasi materi dan media untuk kelayakan media, 3) angket persepsi guru dan siswa untuk ujicoba produk, dan 4) soal pretest-posttest untuk mengetahui pengaruh media terhadap hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komik digital berbasis karakter hero Indonesia yang dikembangkan dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada materi sistem peredaran darah manusia untuk siswa kelas VIII SMPN 17 Kota Jambi. Penilaian validasi materi adalah sebesar 89,06% (sangat baik), penilaian validasi media adalah 81,25% (sangat baik), persepsi guru sebesar 72,92% (baik), persepsi siswa dalam kelompok kecil sebesar 84,72% (sangat baik), dan persepsi siswa dalam kelompok besar sebesar 90,09% (sangat baik). Sedangkan hasil uji t independensi menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) 0,00 < ? 0,01, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Selisih rata-rata hasil pretest-postest yang diperoleh kelas kontrol adalah 34,38 dan kelas eksperimen adalah 53,03. Based on the observation and teacher interview for class VIII SMPN 17 Jambi City, it was found that the most difficult material was the circulatory system and the learning activities in the classroom were not conducive, so that learning media was needed that could attract students' interest. The research aimed to develop digital comic learning media based on Indonesian heroic characters on the material of the human circulatory system. In developing this media, it required the assessment of media and material experts, teacher and student perceptions and the effect of media use on student learning outcomes. This development research used the ADDIE development model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). The research instruments consisted of: 1) list of interview, questionnaires and observation sheets for needs analysis, 2) material and media validation sheets for media feasibility, 3) teacher and student perceptions questionnaires for product trials, and 4) pretest-posttest questions to determine the effect.of media on learning outcomes. The results showed that the digital comics based on Indonesian heroic characters that were developed could be used as the learning media on the material of the human circulatory system for class VIII students of SMPN 17 Jambi City. The material validation assessment was 89.06% (very good), the media validation assessment was 81.25% (very good), the teacher's perception was 72.92% (good), students' perception in small group was 84.72% (very good), and students' perceptions in large group was 90.09% (very good). While the results of the independence t test showed that the significance value (2-tailed) 0.00 < ? 0.01, there was significant difference between the control and the experimental class. The average difference between the pretest-posttest results obtained by the control class was 34.38 and the experimental class was 53.03.

Abstract

Previous studies have shown that the creativity of students who are prospective biology teacher is still low. Even though some efforts have been made, the level of creativity is still low and needs to be improved. This is important before the students become teachers in the community. This study thus aims to examine the effectiveness of the reflective learning model in improving the creativity of students who are prospective biology teachers. This is a literature review study that collect references from various sources, such as journals on Google Scholar, Science Direct, Mendeley and many more to answer the research question. The results showed that the reflective learning model can improve creativity; thus, it is recommended to be applied by lecturers in teaching students who are prospective biology teachers. Keywords: learning model, reflective learning, creativity ability, prospective biology teachers.

Abstract

Predatory thrips species is very important to restrain pest population in the field. This study was conducted to explore and analyze the diversity of predatory thrips species in and around chili planting in the lowland and swamp areas in Jambi. The survey was conducted at 13 sites in the lowlands and 6 sites in the swamp areas. The survey found 22 species of thrips predators in lowlands and 6 six species in swamp areas which are grouped into nine families. Abstract

There is a growing concern to use environmentally friendly pesticides including the use of plant-based pesticides. Given that bio pesticides are degraded easily, exploration and scanning to obtain new bio insecticides are continued to be practiced. One of the potential bio insecticides is bulian (Euderoxylon zwagerii). The bulian is a species of hardwood commonly used as construction material by the people of Jambi due to its resistance to termite and mold. The earlier research indicated that the sawdust of bulian is potential to treat Spodoptera litura F., an important crop pest. The purpose of this research is to develop active agents extracted from bulian sawdust to control pest crop especially C. Chalcites. The treatment include the application of bulian extract with concentration of 0,01%, 0,05%, 0,1%, 0,5%, and 1%. The smallest concentration of active extract with the strongest anti-feeding activity will be used as a reference for the following field studies of C. Chalcites. The results showed that, the higher the concentration of n-hexane extract is given, the higher the antifeedant activity of C. Chalcites. The smallest concentration that showed very strong anti-feeding of C. Chalcites is 0.5%

Abstract

The aim of this experiment was to study the effect of Carica papaya Linn seeds extract on pracopulation onthe reproductive function of swiss Webster female mice (Mus musculus L.). Parametric are: body weight, thenumber implantation, number live fetuses, number death fetuses and embryionic fetuses, post-implantationdeath, live fetuses were examined, libido and ovarium weight. The experiment was designed using thecomplete randomized design. The results tested using the DNMRT method. Treatment are control withoutCarboksil Metil Celulose (CMC) 1% (K0), control with CMC 1% (KCMC), Carica papaya ekstrac dosage 50, 75and 100 mg/kgbb (E50, E75 and E100). The results experiment showed that Carica papaya L. ekstrac candestroyed could disturbed the reproduction function, i.e disturbed accreation body weight for gestation, bodyweight mice 18 th day of gestation, decrease the number live fetuses, increase number death fetuses andpost-implantation death, there number embryonic resorption and body weight live fetuses treatment morelower concentrated control. But, no influence significant for number implantation and ovarium weight.

Abstract

Abstrak Pengembangan Lembar kerja siswa (LKS) penting dilakukan agar LKS sebagai salah satu bahan ajar dapat membiasakan siswa untuk berpikir logis, kritis dan sistematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan LKS berbasis Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada mata pelajaran biologi SMA. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development), dengan menggunakan model Dick, Carey and Carey (analisis, desain, pengembangan dan evaluasi). Data proses pengembangan dihimpun menggunakan instrumen validasi ahli materi dan ahli desain pembelajaran, angket respons siswa dan guru. Hasil penilaian kelayakan dari ahli materi mendapatkan rata-rata nilai 80%, dan dari ahli desain rata-rata nilai 81% termasuk dalam kategori layak, dilihat dari aspek isi, aspek penyajian, aspek tampilan, aspek integrasi dan aspek bahasa. Respon siswa terhadap LKS yang dikembangkan sebesar 93% termasuk dalam kriteria sangat baik. Respon guru terhadap LKS yang dikembangkan sebesar 88,48% termasuk dalam kriteria sangat baik, sehingga hasil observasi menunjukkan siswa lebih aktif. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa LKS berbasis PBL memenuhi syarat kelayakan sebagai bahan ajar dan mampu melatih kemampuan siswa dalam berpikir kritis.

Abstract

Active learning requires the existence of teaching materials that are appropriate to students conditions and meet students’ needs. This study aims to (i) produce a science learning module based on the case study method used as teaching material, (ii) reveal the quality of media developed in terms of content, appearance, and attractiveness, and (iii) study the process of developing a case study science learning module for middle school students. This research is a type of research and development. The product developed was validated by a media expert and learning material expert. The product trial was carried out in two steps, namely small group trials and large group trials. The subjects of the trial consisted of six students (small group trials) and 30 students (large group trials), all of whom were students of grade VII of SMPN 3 Tanjung Jabung Timur. The data collected from media experts and learning material experts as well as form science teacher and students. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of this study can be concluded that the development of a science module based on case study methods was declared feasible to be used in learning activities based on the results of material and media expert validation. Based on the results of student and teacher responses, the science module based on a case study method is very good to be used as teaching material in schools.

Abstract

The lack of Biology teaching materials in senior high school in the Kerinci District has promoted this research. The purpose of this development research is to produce e-modules as teaching materials used by students in Biology subjects. The model used in developing this e-module is the 4-D model, which consists of 4 stages, namely defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. Biology e-modules on plantae and animalia material based on the potential of the Kerinci region were validated by media and material experts. The results of the media expert validation obtained the final percentage of 90% (very valid category) and the material expert validation obtained a percentage of 75% (valid category). From the results of the field test, the teacher responded that the e-modules produced were suitable for use in biology class X high school learning with a percentage of 92.5% (very good category). Furthermore, e-module trials on students obtained responses that the products produced were also proper to be used in biology learning in class X of senior high school. The small group test obtained a score of 85% (excellent category) and the large group test obtained score 78.3% (good category). The use of the developed e-modules in learning resulted in a score of 76.3% (successful category).

Abstract

The character of students, in general, is still not well developed. We need teaching material for LKPD (Student Worksheet) enriched with character values. This study aims to produce character-based LKPD adopted from quantum teaching and determine teachers' and students' feasibility and responses to the LKPD. This study uses the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages. LKPD was validated by the material validator three times with a final score of 56 and a response value of 87.5% (excellent category), while the media validator twice with a final score of 64 and a response value of 100% (excellent category). Furthermore, two teachers carried out practitioner validation with an average score of 80.5 and a response value of 87.5% (the product is feasible to be tested and applied in learning). One-on-one trials with three students as the subject got a score of 166 and a response value of 86.5% (excellent category). The small group trial with nine subjects scored 289, and the response value was 89.2% (excellent category). The study concludes that the LKPD based on quantum teaching can be used in class VII SMP learning.

Abstract

Diversity, domination, and distribution of rice stem borer species and its damage in various land typologies in Jambi Province. The research was conducted to analyze the diversity, domination, species distribution of rice stem borers (RSB) and its damage on various land typologies in Jambi Province. The research was carried out using survey method, from December 2010 until June 2011. Samples of RSB were collected from tidal swamp in Tanjung Jabung Timur District, swampy area in Muaro Jambi District, rainfed lowland in Sarolangun District, irrigated lowland in Merangin District, and irrigated upland in Kerinci District and Sungai Penuh District. The results showed that there were five spesies of RSB found in Jambi Province. Scirpophaga incertulas Walker (yellow stem borer) was the most dominant of RSB, followed by Sesamia inferens Walker (pink stem borer), Chilo suppressalis Walker (striped stem borer), Chilo polychrysus Meyrick (dark-headed stem borer), and Scirpophaga innotata Walker (white stem borer). The distribution of S. incertulas, S. inferens, C. suppressalis and C. polychrysus were in all of rice field in Jambi Province, but that of S. innotata was limited over tidal swamp and rainfield lowland area. The RSB damage rate was lower than economic thereshold.
