Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the needs analysis on the problems of Islamic Economics students in learning ESP at STAIN Pekalongan. This study involved 41 students and 3 teachers as the subjects. The data in this research were analyzed by using SPSS program. The data used in this paper were taken from questionnaires given to the students and interviews of some lecturers. The method applied to investigate students’ problems in learning ESP was quantitative method and qualitative design in order to get reliable and valid interpretation of data analysis. The result shows that ESP problems include vocabulary (42.0%), course contents (22.0%), and grammar (12.0%). The result from the questionnaires show that the first problems are related to limited vocabulary (40.0%), lacks of students’ language skills (24.4%), and boring classes (14.4%). Some students also believe that 7.8% of problems are related to teaching materials (course contents) that the lecturers used, which are not suitable with their needs, and finally, the incompatibility of the lecturers, including difficult materials (6.7%).

Abstract

Pendidikan Islam mempunyai sejarah yang sangat panjang. Pendidikan Islam berkembang seiring dengan kemunculan Islam itu sendiri. Dalam konteks masyarakat Arab, di mana Islam lahir dan pertama kali berkembang, kedatangan Islam lengkap dengan usaha-usaha pendidikan merupakan sebuah transformasi besar. Sebab, masyarakat Arab pra-Islam pada dasarnya tidak mempunyai sistem pendidikan formal.

Abstract

Islam merupakan agama yang diturunkan kepada manusia sebagai rohmatan lil alamiin. Islam merupakan pondasi dasar segala aspek kehidupan manusia. Ajaran-ajarannya selalu membawa kemaslahatan bagi kehidupan manusia di dunia ini. Tidak ada satupun bentuk kegiatan yang dilakukan manusia, kecuali Allah telah meletakkan aturan-aturannya dalam ajaran Islam. Kebudayaan adalah salah satu dari sisi penting dari kehidupan manusia, dan Islampun telah mengatur dan memberikan batasan-batasannya. Tulisan di bawah ini berusaha menjelaskan tentang Islam dan Kebudayaan Islami. Walau singkat mudah-mudahan memberikan sumbangan dalam khazana pemikian Islam.

Abstract

This research is aimed to get a detailed description and analysis about the representation of lexical cohesion in the background of research in undergraduate thesis from English Language Education students at Madako University. The researchers employed quantitative model to analyze the frequency and percentage of lexical cohesion which is used by the students in their writing. The data in this research were obtained from English Language Education undergraduate thesis of students at Madako University. The data collection which is used by the researchers is note taking. The data of this research were analyzed by using categorization of cohesion namely lexical cohesion. The result of this research indicates that the repetition component becomes the most dominant from the three components; the percentage of repetition is 93%, followed by synonym, collocation and superordinate with their percentage 4%, 2%, and 1% respectively.
